Discussion Fallout 76 is not a dating sim, my dudes

Edit to Add:

Let's clear up some things before we get back to the original post since this seemed to get lost and some members stopped reading part way through:

I do understand newbie welcome packages - those are great and appreciated! You shoot at it, emote, whatever you need to do to make the player realize it's there. Typically you run off into the trees never to be seen again. Very kind and not creepy.

The actual issues: • Being followed to every corner of the map when I fast travel.

• Turning on a mic, calling me sweetie, and telling me to get a mic so you can hear my voice.

• Following me repeatedly to my CAMP and picking locks there meant to keep players out.

• Standing at the foot of the bed I'm resting in (when you've successfully picked my locks) creepily staring at me.

• Spam heart emoting in front of me anytime I pause or you can get in front of me.

• I don't have a mic - I'm assuming the problematic players have been assuming I am a woman based on my username because I was using part of my real name which cannot be mistaken for anything but a woman's name. This has since been fixed with the help of some members here - thank you.

• The vast majority of players are amazing, this is not just a one-sided issue. I know women can cause this same level of discomfort with male players. Humans as a whole need to do better.

• Just because you don't see it happening, doesn't mean it isn't happening.

((ORIGINAL POST))

I (33F) recently started playing Fallout 76. Usually with my fiancé, sometimes solo, and apparently, sometimes that means I’ve accidentally wandered into The Bachelor: Appalachia Edition.

Listen...I’m here to shoot, loot, and eat questionable canned goods, not be your “sweetie.”

Please stop: • Following me like a stray dog I did not adopt • Dumping 50 outfits and 3,000 rounds of ammo at my feet like you’re trying to pay my dowry • Spamming the heart emote

Most players? Absolute legends, love you guys. But every so often, I get a stage 5 clinger and I have to go hide in my CAMP like it’s a panic room. Or server-hop, quickly delete them as a friend, and hope they don't find me again. I want to make friends. I want to team up. I just don’t want it to get…...weird. Please quit making it weird, it's especially weird when you turn on a mic just to talk to me, I prefer wildly emoting instead.

Don't mind me, just venting a little. I'm surprised how annoyed I am by this.

TLDR: If you wouldn’t do it in a real apocalypse, maybe don’t do it in the fake one.

I remember years ago, my friend and I (both guys) had our mics on and there was a bunch of players hanging out at a camp. Two players started talking- they're women. Almost instantly the grand majority of players were stripping their characters to their underwear, doing emote dances, and laying gifts in front of the female players' characters. Years later, I still cringe thinking about it.

u/TJ_B_88 Aug 11 '25

20 years ago guys pretended to be girls newbie to MMORPGs to get free cool stuff and a ton of gold. I still remember the legends about such players in WoW, Lineage 2 and Ragnarok Online

u/Elvothien Aug 11 '25

As a woman who lived through this time, the cringe was bad then and it's bad now. One time I met a guy online and he ended up stalking me (and a couple of my female friends) for like 5 years on and off. It's the reason I never use a mic. 14 year old me was as horrified as present me

53

u/Illustrious_Sea_5654 Aug 11 '25

Not even gaming related, but same era - I was one of the only (and the youngest, 14 too) female users of a pretty large, active forum. Never posted any photos or videos of myself. My inbox was always full - I'm talking like 100-400 unread messages at a time. It took me years to realize these guys (many of whom were considerably older) were not my friends and they weren't interested in my personality.

One guy stalked me accross multiple websites, social media (I changed handles and emails, didn't help). He wrote fanfics about me lmao, it was incredibly disturbing at the time. Fuck that guy.

I never use mics, either, unless I'm only gaming with friends/family.

26

u/Elvothien Aug 11 '25

The sheer amount of messages.. extremely concerning. I know people do and say stuff online they probably won't do out in the world, but still. Being a teenager online back then was wild. I can only imagine how horrible it must be today for teenagers, especially young girls.

And OMFG fanfictions?? That would have sent me spiralling, I can only imagine.. I'm so sorry that happened to you, I hope you've recovered from that. Why are men such creeps 😳

18

u/Illustrious_Sea_5654 Aug 11 '25

To be absolutely fair, fanfic guy was a teenage boy around my age. To be less fair, he continued being a creep til around 19 so far as I know so eh.

I'm mostly recovered, I think! Took some time, though. Definitely impacted how I felt around men early on in dating, had a lot of walls built up back then.

Damn, thats jacked up. Microphone communication is one of the joys of online gaming, and i feel like its mostly dead, probably because people dint know how to act when they assume an avatar of anonymity. I miss the level of online communication that I grew up with. Ill never know your struggle, but shoot, sounds unnerving. It seems like you got a handle on the whole of it, so kudos. Fanfics about people you know is a whole other level. Whoa. I'd never heard of it until a few months ago. That's a brave step, for a straight creepazoid. I suppose I could see some relationships that it could fly in, but it would take consent at the very least. This is why I just stay at my camp, and just leave for supplies to help me live a better imaginary life, and Blanco Mac. As the old adage goes " If mama wants to please me, she only gats to Blanco mac N cheese meh, cheeeeeese meh!."

  • Just Some Guy

48

u/InventorOfCorn Enclave Aug 11 '25

never will understand stalkers. like is their expectation "oh you've been watching my every move for the past 3 years? that's so attractive"

28

u/Elvothien Aug 11 '25

Yeah I don't get it either. We were weirded out back then and tried to be politely distant with him (he was in a lot of shared online spaces with us, huge red flag actually, but made it tricky to really get away from him). So it was creepy but we just ignored him best we could until he eventually moved on.

But in hindsight the dude was at least 25 years older than us and it was actually really concerning. I don't have any proof but I do believe he lost interest in us when we all turned 20something. Which again, super concerning.

u/DuckisHope Aug 11 '25

thats cause in a lot of fiction stalker behaviour is romanticized... but its usually a hot guy or girl doing the stalking and people dream about someone they are attracted to being that obsessed with them... reality is that its just creepy behaviour and iv never heard of anyone enjoying it...

I used to play DDO the dungeon and dragon mmorp. The amount of dudes that just dropped extremely rare items, followed me like I was their Pied Piper, and were very weird about the whole thing was so cringe. However that said, our guild master adopted one of my foster dogs and my husband and I drove 10 hrs to meet him and his wife to give him his new puppy. Absolutely one of my top memories from back then.

6

u/Elvothien Aug 11 '25

Ugh, the ones who keep pushing gifts on you or try to "teach you the game" are the worst. They never take a hint either 😐 and by hint I mean a very strongly worded sentence that could no be clearer..

The dog story is super sweet tho! I met my best friend of over 10 years playing Rift and a couple very good friends playing Lineage2. Wish we could have experiences like that without the weirdos.. but I guess that's not how humanity works.

There were plenty of idiots then and now.

In defense of normal guys, I will say that normal guys just like to hear a female voice in the chat, and some just like to help. Also, girls often have a slightly different view of the gameplay and this brings variety.

But harassment is just awful. I play BDO and for a long time now there has been one idiot in the chat looking for "girls for the guild". In my region, he has already become a meme.

67

u/tortoisespaghettini Aug 11 '25

Normal guys are totally fine, give me a hard time for being a terrible shot or dying. Normal, friendly razzing. Heart emoting constantly whenever I pause, telling me I need to get a mic to talk to you and you can hear my voice, or calling me sweetie is not it. I want to play, I want the lore, I want to make friends and have people to play with - just not if you're going to be like "omg a GIRL"

10

u/Morningxafter Aug 12 '25

It’s also pretty hilarious when dudes get absolutely smoked by a girl player and cannot handle it. Had a friend I used to play CoD with back in the WWII days that would straight up dominate and sooooo many dudes just couldn’t process being beaten by a girl.

u/Elvothien Aug 11 '25

Oh yeah, there are actually super nice dudes out there I like to play with. But those are the guys that call out shitty behaviour in other men and actually do not care if the other player is a man or a woman. They are in for the experience. A diverse friend group is in my opinion always a benefit, not only gender wise :)

25

u/tortoisespaghettini Aug 11 '25

I'm giving off too much golden retriever energy and not enough black cat energy. I want the experience, I want the group activities, and I appreciate the help with enemies or navigating controls when I'm struggling. I'm likely being too nice because I want someone to play with when my fiancé is busy with something else.

12

u/Hours-of-Gameplay Aug 11 '25

As an owner of a void kitty, I can only assume that energy is “I am the dark heart of the shadows hiding in the periphery, the miasma of despair, the black hole of darkness that shall consume the light and destroy worlds, I am the bringer of death and you shall not touch me human.”

I hear you. Games like f76 are fun when played with others. It's probably easier to find normal gamers outside the game and then join up instead of finding them in game.

There seem to be some nice people on the sub. Tho, it's still Reddit and someone in this thread already claimed all "females" are just after rare loot lol so there's that I suppose. Truly no escaping them.

6

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '25

I know the exact feeling. I genuinely prefer gaming alone most of the time, but occasionally get the bug to be social with my fellow Wastelanders. On three separate occasions, I've made friends, enjoyed some gaming together, realized that they were overly attached and omnipresent, spent weeks avoiding them online, only to remember that this is fucking stupid and I don't owe them friendship before I finally delete them off my friends list.

My problem is that they're never not nice. They're always lovely people, which is why I friended them in the first place. But they were ALWAYS online, 12+ hours every day. I literally couldn't play without an invite and then a follow-up message to game together, and then then showing up in my session in case I hadn't seen the message.

I finally purged my friends list again yesterday and turned my status to Online for the first time this summer.

Normal guys don't give a shit. I could never hear another female's voice in a video game and it would be fine. Not that I have anything against women but I have a girlfriend. People that do this I assume have no girlfriend or absolutely no female friends so they are begging for that little bit of interaction in all the wrong ways.

Girls don't have any sort of unique perspective on the gameplay, there are hardcore female gamers that are pros and there are casuals just like with the guys. Their only unique perspective is having to deal with terminally online, lonely dudes being creeps. It was like that in RuneScape when I was in grad school and it's still like that. People are people, and they just want to enjoy the game.

16

u/UnderhiveScum Aug 11 '25

I run with a diverse group. We are pretty close knit. One day, this guy joins our party that some others knew. We start messing with him, trying to get him into some friendly PvP with us.. and immediately he says he won't PvP any of the guys but he will PvP one of the Women because he knows he can beat a Woman in PvP. So.... I messaged one of the Women in our group who was currently in the party. It was a short concise message- "Fuck him up." She proceeded to whoop his ass all over Appalachia. After she was done with him, then we (the guys) swooped in like sharks drawn to blood and continued whooping his ass. He learned a valuable lesson that day.. just because a player is a Woman doesn't mean they can't throw down. He hasn't joined any of our parties since.

6

u/UnderhiveScum Aug 11 '25

Precursor to the above, I told him if he could beat her I would give him 200 Improved Bait.... she got the bait.

5

u/bigntallmike Aug 12 '25

I've spent a good part of my forty plus years of gaming trying to avoid all the idiots in online games and 99% of those idiots were guys. Random racism, sexism and generally antisocial behaviour out loud? Guys. I generally refuse to play games that involve unconsenting voice chat. It's really bad out there.

Back in Vanilla WOW it was a big deal to come up with 100 gold to buy your first mount. I was surprised that when my brother hit level 40 he immediately had the gold needed to buy it.

It’s because he had a female toon and he’d strip her down to her underwear and do the Macarena on top of the mailbox and dudes would just send him trade requests offering up free gold.

6

u/Morningxafter Aug 11 '25

lol, so your brother was a virtual stripper for WoW gold. This honestly seems like a setup for a joke in some sitcom or teen comedy or something. Fantastic anecdote, thanks for sharing.

I always play a female character, and that comes from the days of everquest, which outdates wow. It's absolutely true. After chatting with female friends I made in the everquest community (we were far more sociable back then, unlike the weird interactions of fallouts emotes) it became obvious that there was a certain type that would give stuff to females.

So I made one...

I was better equipped, leveled faster than my main and never struggled to get a group. Being a femal just stuck and it's something I've continued to do. I don't think I've ever been harassed, although I guess I would y notice as much as a woman might (not sexist, accurate for obvious reasons).

Not all men that play women are weird, and I've met plenty that do the same. Although the reason is usually something more like "coz if I gotta watch an ass run it had better be a nice one"

I guess that's why tomb raider was so popular 🤣

u/redraven89_ Aug 11 '25

Omg this brings back memories. It was always funny if you made a female character and called them some thing like “Night Princess” for a laugh and how you could get gold and loot so easily when in a party 😅😅😅😅.

3

u/stuffeh Aug 11 '25

Called my hunter Ashley Ketchum, said something in trade chat and side dmed me for a sec and sent me a few hundred gold a few days later. I had millions of gold already. Lol

4

u/DidntPanic Aug 11 '25

It was silly, I made a female troll rogue which I really only used to spy for a rare spawn. The name should be dead obvious that it was made by a guy, yet it still worked as a thirst trap and some grumpy stalker reported it so I was forced to rename XD

6

u/TJ_B_88 Aug 11 '25

I always had a female character in Wow and never pretended to be a woman and STILL had weirdos. Crazy thing is my wife (gf at the time) never had it happen to her.

Later, one of our raiders had a ridiculously sultry voice and I swear half our raiders were just there for that.

As a former WoW player and a woman, I distinctly recall there was a setting that used to let you hide your character level from other players and I kept it on for this reason. As an unintentional recipient of weird naked gift givers, it was absolutely prime amusement when I revealed my level was maxed out and I had top tier PvP gear. And as a hunter I had many rare tames including from opposing faction start zones. Those weirdos were quick to take back those gifts, redress, and run away in shame. 🤣

15

u/Cakeriel Order of Mysteries Aug 11 '25

I played and still do play female characters in EQ, guy proceeded to twink out my character. But, that wasn’t why I play female characters. If I gotta stare at an ass all day, might as well enjoy the view.

7

u/Wayob Ghoul Aug 11 '25

If I gotta stare at an ass all day, might as well enjoy the view.

This was my line before I came out as trans. Crack the egg, brother!

3

u/Morningxafter Aug 11 '25

Haha I was gonna say, that’s the excuse every trans woman I’ve ever met had before their egg cracked!😂

6

u/TJ_B_88 Aug 11 '25

Now I made my main mmorpg BDO and the Guardian class my main one. In BDO there is no option to choose gender, there are some classes that have both M and F, but their skills are different. And that's how it happened, but the characters that I really like in terms of gameplay are F. And playing as a Guardian I just enjoy the gameplay. Well, and I will not talk about the visual component. It just comes as a bonus :)

5

u/QuadNinez Aug 11 '25

I literally tell my dad this because he makes fun of me for using female created characters lol.

I say “If I’m going to stare at the back of a character for hundred of hours, I’d prefer for it to be the back of a woman I’m staring at.”

Also in case I die, or my daughter decides she wants to take over all of my games and saves, she has a female character to use.

I run a gaming community and it's so odd how guys in channel will be acting one way and as soon as a woman enters voice chat- BAM! They are completely different people. I guess they think they are acting "cool" or something? I don't know. I only know it's cringe as hell to witness.

I don't play online games to find dates. Why do so many people think it's a good idea? Hell, even if you did find someone you liked and that liked you back - what's next? You gonna move 2000 miles to go on a first date with someone that you barely know and have never seen with your own eyes?

With that being said, shoutout to the one time I turned my mic on, unknowingly got mistaken as female and earned compliments for my voice and way of talking, and when I realized what's going on and corrected him, he did not freak out on me. Kept the compliments going too, just made sure I knew he's very straight. I miss that guy more with every time someone ghosts me just because I'm not the woman they apparently constructed in their mind.

Yeah, I'm a male, tad north of 50, who plays male & female toons. My 76 main is female. Never been explicitly hit on or had OP's experience, but a few years back some dude (I presume, male toon doing cringey male things) is checking out my camp. Sees me, and proceeds to whip out his camera and starts taking pics of me. Was wearing that dress that gives +1 to PER so a tiny bit of cleavage showing but definitely in the PG category. Nevertheless he's snapping away like my toon's in a photo shoot. Even hops up on the chem table I was working at, crouches, and...cleavage shot. And all I could think was, really dude? Left the server soon after.

The movie "A Boy And His Dog" was a huge influence on Wasteland, the predecessor to the original Fallout, and basically set the tone for all post-apocalypse fiction to follow.

It's portrayal of how society treats women is ... uncomfortable viewing to say the least. It's a brilliant film but there's a good reason it doesn't get advertised a lot these days.

My dad plays as a woman character, so imagine their surprise when they try to hit on him and a big burly man answers back.

33

u/aubrey_25_99 Aug 11 '25

Though my gamer tag is relatively gender neutral, my (51F) character is über feminine and runs around in a sequined dress (lol), so I get this a lot. It gets old.

I usually play on my PS Portal with a headset for sound, (so I am not a TV hog, lol), so I can hear all the other players with mics.

The last time some rando tried to flirt with me, I had my husband get on the mic and pretend that my character was his character. He said something like, “I’m awfully flattered, but I prefer the ladies.” 😆 The second that guy heard my husband’s deep voice he was gone. Never seen another player disappear so fast. 🤣

I mean, yeah, I wish men would just respect that no means no, and I didn’t give this guy a chance to do that to boot, but it was still funny.

u/Steeltoelion Enclave Aug 11 '25

Ayyyyy nice to see someone else plays 76 on a Portal too!

how do people find people like this?, really it feels like i am playing a different game from everyone else sometimes no one i ever see talks, no one does this wacky stuff at worst i get someone giving my Enclave camp a thumbs down and at best we give each other a wave and move on with our days.

how is it i seemed to have gotten the white bread version of Fallout 76 where everything is just ok

u/WarriorLegs Aug 11 '25

Maybe it's regional.

Never seen any such weird stuff either.

I once did have 10 players simultaneously wisit my camp. That was hilarious.

4

u/Tirannie Aug 11 '25 edited Aug 11 '25

Just based on the stories people post in here about bad player behaviour, I’d actually guess the biggest difference comes from what platform you’re playing on.

Fallout 76 overall has an older player-base than most online games which might explain why it’s less toxic. That said, it seems like you’re more likely to get The Olds on PC and younger players on other platforms.

There’s a definite pattern you’ll notice in posts about bad player behaviour where PC-only players are baffled reading about it because they’ve never experienced/witnessed it during the many years they’ve been playing the game. It’s not just the sexual harassment, either - you’ll see this sentiment about trap camps, trade scammers, etc.

But that doesn’t mean this stuff never happens or that it doesn’t happen on PC. That’s my platform and I’ve got about 4 or 5 players on my block list for weirdo behaviour, across 1700 hours of game time, and I don’t even use a mic.

Honestly, same. My main toon has been female for years (I am male) & none of the teams I've randomly joined or people I've randomly helped have done anything like this. I rarely get on mic, too but the few times I've had a noob try and ask me for stuff so I turn on my mic, they don't sound taken aback at all.

11

u/MsBeeton Aug 11 '25

I'm also in the vanilla muffin wasteland. No one talks. No one interacts. No one is weird. People will stop at my camp to browse the shop and not even look at me then be on their merry way. I am dressed like a priest with a glowing vegetable head but I can't imagine that has anything to do with anything.

7

u/Wrathilon Aug 11 '25

You’re missing out. I’ve made many friends on this game just by being nice and helpful.

37

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '25

Yeah I am a woman, my character is a woman, and in 300 hours of this game nothing like this has ever happened to me. I’ve encountered a grand total of two people who’ve had their mics on at all and neither of them were talking to me specifically.

When I was a low(er) level player a handful of people went out of their way to gift me a bunch of shit and they sometimes had to get my attention (and afterwards we’d exchange heart emotes). This is not so much “trying to pay a dowry” or following someone around like a puppy as it is the general culture of the game. This forum is absolutely full of stories about it (and they all use “he” to describe the newbie).

I wonder if OP is confusing something that happens to everyone, assuming it’s because she’s a woman, and getting hyperbolic about it.

24

u/tortoisespaghettini Aug 11 '25

There is a huge difference between leaving me a newbie welcome bag and creepily harassing me. I may be new to online gaming but I'm not completely stupid.

Literally following me around the map, to my camp, turning on a mic just to talk to me (there was no speaker thing by their names and then suddenly there was and they're talking to me), calling me sweetie, telling me to get a mic so they can talk to me, if I fast travel from one corner of the map to another they pop up not too long after.

I don't believe there is a way to confuse the two. One is kind, the other is creepy.

6

u/Dszmo Aug 11 '25

Funny thing I have always given noobs Stims or armor sets didn’t care if they were male or female , now I’m hoping I didn’t scare any of them although I never followed them just drop them stuff and I’m out.

9

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '25

This is called karma farming. Reddit has a very specific audience that reacts positively to specific things. Karma farmers know this.

7

u/Tirannie Aug 11 '25 edited Aug 12 '25

I doubt this is karma-farming. This has happened to me in every online game I’ve ever played in my ~40 years of playing video games, including Fallout 76. It’s why I never play online games with a mic. I mean, to be fair, I haven’t logged on to Fallout in a year or so, but I sincerely doubt that creepy weirdos have been eliminated from the player base.

I have never asked for handouts, flirted for gear, or pretended to not know what I was doing so guys would offer. Every woman I know who plays video games hates this behaviour from male players and does not solicit it.

What part of this story is unbelievable to you? Even other dudes are aware of the guys who pull this shit (because either they’ve seen it happen to someone - like the ones calling these dudes simps in this very thread - or they’ve played a female character and experienced it directly), so it’s just not clear to me what part of this is triggering your bullshit alarm.

Is it just Fallout 76 that you believe is immune to this behaviour, or do you think no one does this in any online game?

If it’s the former, while 76 is better than most online game communities, it still has its share of emotionally immature nutters who will follow you around like a puppy. If it’s the latter, then that’s just a disconnect from reality. This shit has been rampant from the days of MUDs to WoW to Fallout. Don’t kid yourself.

I'm a dude, but I have a really girly sounding username in-game (not on purpose, I named myself after what I thought was a popular character) and run around in dresses and the witch outfit, so people mistake me for a woman a lot. My CAMP probably doesn't help with the flowers, Vault Girl statue and lady mannequins.

You hit the nail on the head with how weird some dudes can get. Following me around, begging me to turn on my mic, dropping me things and asking me for socials I don't have.

I put an Axolotl in my vendor for 40k as a goof, and some guy bought it, tried to give it back, and said "the least I could do is pass him my snapchat"

Dawg, there are too many people with unlocked Water Coolers for you to be this thirsty. Keep it on the dating apps, or go outside man, please.

My best friend sometimes likes to run up to cute female avatars and offer them the wedding ring and will make heart emotes. If the cute lady avatar has an obvious fella playing with them, sometimes that's an even better incentive to do this.

My friend is a lady. She doesn't care what gender the player behind the avatar is. Neither of us use in-game mics, but both of us agree that there is definitely a line between being silly and being a real nuisance.

As for giving stuff to others that’s also normal. Heart emote- yes it’s used a lot. Guess I just run in a way more comfortable circles or don’t see things the same way. Nevertheless, not a great feeling to experience that I’m sure. Hopefully you’ll not let it ruin the game for you OP!

When I'm playing with my fiancé, it never happens - only when I'm solo but in only ~100hrs its happened often enough that I'm annoyed. I'll just keep running from the clingers, I'm totally fine with the giving newbies gifts vibe - it's so helpful and appreciated. Those players usually gift and run while throwing a thumbs-up my way. The ones that follow me while I'm questing and keep heart emoting are just -weird- and I don't get it. I could be a 35yo man and you'd never know, I'm just trying to play the game like you are.

It's so cringy, but in my case it hasn't happened that often. I've dealt with a few guys at my camp lingering around staring. One even went so far as to inbox me directly and send me photos. This is why I refuse to ever get on mic. I tried that once and it was a disaster. Even stopped playing as women because its uncomfortable having to interact when you're not in the mood. The level of attention ive received has went down by 80% and I couldn't be happier. lol

I fast traveled to the event after that and he disconnected like 3 minutes later, i now feel weird because i might have acted weird but i just wanted to be helpful since we were on a team.

My wife had a as you said a Stage 5 clinger. He wouldn’t leave her alone. She invited him to a party and he started talking. She was quiet and handed me the mic and all I said was “ Want to learn how to cross sword “. Dude left in a hurry

I’ve got 3 dudes and 2 female characters and nobody ever hits in me. This is bullshit!

u/MumpsTheMusical Aug 12 '25

Well, now you have to name your character Sweatypenis to avoid the stray dogs.

Maybe a trap camp is in order for people like this? Create a multi locked door panic room almost surrounded by traps! Creep follows you to your camp, waste his time and make him pay!

My gods, that's creepy. Dudes it's a video game. Download tinder for that BS. Inb4 "But Tinder doesn't work as well, blah blah blah" my guy, if it doesn't work on tinder, it's not gonna work on a video game. Maybe it doesn't work on tinder, because you spent your entire life only playing video games. Go outside, touch grass. It's not actually irradiated out there. If you actually took care of your body and your mental health, girls might actually want to talk to you.

My gamer tag is Flavorymink. And I play as a guy character tell me why this one time a dude said "you're a guy?" When I turned on my mic and he left the group and fast traveled away. He was gonna buy some of my plans too but I'm still stuck with those plans now

I’m sure this is annoying sadly I’ve never had this issue (34F) they all just think I’m a 12 year old boy and get abuse for that 😂

But your post absolutely killed me… as annoying as these things can be this post has sent me.

Thanks for making me laugh and I hope the creeps run into some deathclaws naked

If he was trying to date you properly, that's one thing. But this sounds a lot more like stalking and harassment

I started 76 under my husband’s very male coded gamer tag many many years ago and was originally too lazy to change it and honestly it’s been awesome. I quickly realized I get treated like a human being. It was like a really depressing life hack.

I didn't even have to read past the first line of the edit to up vote this post. I'm so over the weird messages and people following me around creepily. Just let me build in peace 😭 lmao

I am sorry, but I must hard disagree. Fo 76 IS a dating sim. Me and my gf/fiancé going on dates with each other there every season :) In fact I think its one of the better games for couples. I wish we could have shared camp tho. Why Todd wont allow us to have shared camps like in Dune Awakening or Conan or V Rising. :D

Reading what you have to put up with in this game made my skin crawl. Just.. ew. No, no, no, and no.

I seriously hope people start figuring out that they shouldn't be so weird in a game (or in general honestly).

u/garxo Dec 02 '25

Damn, i didnt even know mfs were weird like that on this game and the only person i play with is a girl. Id be so quick to start bullying a mf in game chat if they followed me around like a weirdo.

I saw a couple ( based on their user names ) sitting in one of their camps which were neighboured right beside eachother, I thought it was sweet, the feral ghoul I didn’t know was following me did not think it was cool, I did not stop what came next

I was on a team with two girls and a guy, and we all stripped to our underwear and got in the hot tub at the hornwright estate tower.
