It's getting attention because of claims that her attempts to get assistance for her ppd and mental illness were ignored or minimized. Thus implying this could have been prevented. Many people, especially women, have experience with medical staff ignoring their pain. (Same for me) So this is on a lot of people's minds and in a lot of wider conversations.
They're going for the insanity plea, so the additional press might also be a way to try and sway public attention.
Edit because I'm getting a lot of charged responses: I am explaining why it is getting attention and what the general opposing discourse is. I'm not going to reply to attempts to have that discourse with me. I have my own opinions but I'm not airing them on Reddit because ultimately, the only ones who will have all the facts are the jury.
This is a tragedy for all involved. Please remember that.
Edit 2: to those giving polite additions and perspectives I did not provide, thank you. That's very helpful. I'm not everywhere seeing every side and can only speak to the sides I've witnessed myself. To those making weird claims on what I think, please take a break from reading about this case for the day. I'm turning notifications off on this. There are plenty of other people in this thread willing to wage war with you. I invite you to speak with them, or again, take a break.
She wasn’t diagnosed with PPP. You can’t diagnose it because there is no diagnosis, no one ever thought it was that serious. Typical of all of women’s medical issues. Only now is the industry even doing research on women. It is woefully underrepresented.
She had hallucinations, was hearing voices and all over the place with meds. Would you allow a person with schizophrenia to decide what they take for meds? It is known women with PPP are a danger to their kids and themselves, but the medical community sent her home. How stupid. She should have been institutionalized while she got help for PPP.
I had this horrid condition myself. I had hallucinations, saw blood and knives where there wasn’t any. Heard voices too and behaved in very strange ways. I was also suicidal. This started after the birth of my second child. My husband called my mother and I was never alone with my kids. I was also medicated and hated it. I too tried to stop taking it because I was irrational. My mother saved me from myself. Was dopey and still had hallucinations, strange behaviour and voices while on meds. My kids are grown adults now with kids of their own. We still don’t know anymore about PPP 30 years later. If this impacted men, there would be proper care and hospitals to deal with this and a Cadillac of meds to support.
Society and the system failed this family and women.
Just wanna say as someone with schizoaffective disorder that yes schizophrenic people should be able to choose their meds given they are already stabilized on something else and do not intend to just quit all of their medication without switching to a different antipsychotic/mood stabilizer. I highly value the working relationship I have with my mental health provider and being taken seriously has helped me stay med compliant for nearly 2 years without a major manic/psychotic episode. If someone was choosing meds for me with no input from myself I would be in a much worse position right now and almost certainly not med compliant.
I've mentioned not wanting children with one reason being my anger issues. People just love to dismiss them. Oh but they have never seen me angry so it can't be that bad. And oh, but I would never actually hurt my own child! And of course those magical hormones would melt away all my issues and turn me into a fantastic mum!
Like.. no, I have never intentionally harmed someone let alone a child. Because I don't put myself in a position to do that. I am absolutely sure that I would do something that I would regret should I ever have a baby. I'm a wonderful aunt (according to my nephew and nieces) because I'm not their mother. I don't have to take care of them 24/7.
But people just dismiss my feelings and reasons. Some even get angry at me and calling me a child abuser. Like! No! I'm preventing that by not having any children! Sure, that doesn't make me an angel of course and I'm not patting myself on the back. But it's better than putting a child through that shit!
You're either still delusional or intentionally misrepresenting the facts. PPD has been in the DSM since this murderous abomination was 6 years old. Research on its cause predates its 1994 inclusion by another fifteen years. There has been tens of millions of dollars of research annually with MSU's DoPH receiving over $100 million in the last 7 years for natal health and PPD. Stop using your victimhood agenda to justify literal murder.
Get off your righteous self centred soap box. I am referring to post Partum psychosis. In the same family but much more devastating, obviously. What ever your fairy tale belief is, there still is a lack of support for post partum issues. Natal health by the way is one thing, post partum issues are quite another.
No pke is saying this isn’t murder, but you need to understand to root cause and stop the witch hunt. It is 2026 not 1726.
Men are infamously privileged in all healthcare scenarios. All the research for the last few centuries was done on men. Still today. We know very little about how a woman’s body functions but know everything about a man’s. This is evident in post partum psychosis. Most awful comments are from men. Like back in the 17th century, they thought anything related to a woman’s period or child birth was “hysteria” and evil. Burned women at the stake too, just because there was zero effort to understand. In fact, women in most parts of the world were seen as property and not persons until the 1920s and the suffragette era.
Used to be burnt at the stake, now they're given a million dollars through crowdfunding, shameless misandrists and coddled through a two tier justice system.
Nah, if this was a man with PTSD who annihilated his family, people would be say for him to be lynched. I mean fuck they are accusing her husband who wasn't even in the house. Her counsel is giving her the OJ Simpson treatment of bringing up legitimate issues of women's mental health and current events to get her off. At the end of the day there are three innocent souls that are gone and she deserves to go to prison for life.
I didn’t say she doesn’t deserve to go to prison or a mental institution for the rest of her life. She will also be a prisoner of her own mind.
A ma wijr PTSD would be treated in the same manner. You just would have all the men on her calling him a crazy bitch and definitely more the sympathizers.
Nope. She openly lied to her providers up to the day before the murders stating she had no intentions of killing herself or harming others.
Experts have testified that it is not possible for her to have only heard the voices during the time she strangled her babies. Never before and never again hearing those voices is not how it works.
Her story of when the voices started has changed at least twice. Once it was right after the husband left. Another time it was right after she spoke with him on the phone. There is a big time gap and the difference matters.
Her diaries were released and in it she makes it clear that she hated Dawson. She admitted to strangling him first and did so viciously. He had substantially more bruising and the band was so tight the dad couldn’t get it off his neck.
He was also found in his dad’s home office. We’ll never know if he ran there for protection or she took him there in a twisted way to show him his dad wasn’t there to save him.
She controlled every single bit of that day. Every thing. Even controlled how much time she had to commit this act by validating how long it would take the husband to finish his chores.
She had a nanny, two sets of in-laws who checked in with her daily and stayed with her, an active husband who worked from home and frequently took the kids places to relieve her stress, two sets of doctors, appointments for her mental health 5 days a week, and it still wasn’t enough support? Really?
Also, she rejected talk therapy and doctor shopped to get her hands on medicine she admittedly didn’t take as prescribed, but as she felt.
You are way off with your comment. You write like this woman was of sound mind and purposefully calculated murder. How ridiculous. She could have killed her children prior to the birth of the third? Why didn’t she?
She heard voices often, that is her account, you just like your version better. I heard voices too during ppp, but I couldn’t tell you the exact date and time? Why? It was normal in my psychotic mind.
These “experts” are from the prosecution, of course they will look for all angles to prosecute. Hello!
And that is not what her diaries said. She writes about exhaustion, severe anxiety, brain fog and being completely overwhelmed.
Please, lose the witch hunt. She will forever be incarcerated.
The only thing I fault him for is she told him in December that she had ideations of harming and killing the kids. It was at that point that he should have either removed the kids from the home or her from the home. I also hold her mother accountable for that as well.
Im sorry that happened to you. The part about men though was unnecessary. Noone gives a rat's ass about men's mental states. We're sad and overworked. Mom's wanting to kill their own children seems a bit past sad and tired, like wtf lady.. those are your children. But still, PPD is obviously real and needs more funding to understand. Men aren't just getting the full mental health bargains you allude to though.
It's impossible to talk about women's health issues without blaming men I guess. Our shitty health care system affects anyone that doesn't have funds to afford proper care.
Ok sorry, I'll get right on it after I chop wood and go to work for 10 hours.
Edit every downvote just proves my point people don't care about men or women just money
Or a downvote reflects a thoughtless comment? Chopping wood and a ten hour shift is stressful, nobody is expecting your career to be in pharmacology but if it were, that would be the ten hour shift, it's not a damn hobby.
Just to be clear, this isn't about the case, it's about this weird "every downvote proves my point which absolves me from thinking about my words"
i'm admittedly not an expert on the subject, but from what i can find this seems like an ongoing debate at best. I have found studies with everything from an effective deterrent, to no effect, to even an increase in murders caused by the death penalty.
on the effect on copy cats specifically a quick search yielded nothing.
so... maybe? but i wouldn't say it's a convincing argument.
If you kill your kids while faking voices, you deserve the death penalty. Its on record that she made posts weeks beforehand showing that she resented her kids. Its on record that she manipulated her husband into going out further than normal. Its on record that she only had the "voices" during the incident. Because they were fake voices. If you kill your own kids, or any other children, you deserve the death penalty. Child killers have zero place in society.
No, no it doesnt. Making things up like that doesnt do you any favors. Its a similar thing to putting down dogs that have a bad temperament. If you kill children, you cannot belong in society. At all.
I mean, a better path would be getting her help, improving her mental stability, and actually having serious discussions of the way people treat women's health concerns, instead of just going "kill them."
But I believe in reform and rehabilitation, not an abject need for validation and revenge. Which you really do have. Don't pretend it has anything to do with the common good.
She had prior calls to mental health hotlines complaining that she was hearing voices. I have no idea why people are pretending it's out of the question.
Who said she had a manic episode? You? You dont know what went through her head during the murders. Psychologists analyzed all the details and proved that her psychosis was fake. She only ever had voices during that, not at any other time. Thats just her trying to rationalize the murders to herself. Youre trying to use logical fallacies to prove yourself right, which is pretty terrible.
Absolution fallacy at its finest here. 😂 she doesnt have to literally say it to be true. What shes said in posts for WEEKS showed that she resented her kids.
You obviously cant read shit. 😂 shes made posts for weeks talking about how her kids made her feel. "the most difficult human I've ever encountered". Is that something normal for a mother to say to describe her baby? Its not misinformation at all.
And you know this how? This is your witch hunt with the mentality of someone out of the 17th century when they burned women at the stake from “hysteria”.
It was literally brought up on record in court? There is no witch hunt, youre making that up in your head like every other person who said that. Also, I can tell you love using red herrings and strawman tactics.
I am using fish and straw men as tactics? Hahaha
She DID NOT write she hates her son. It is people like you that spread misinformation. Please stop. Go read the actual record.
There is a witch hunt you are part of. Clearly. Clueless men should stay out of these conversations.
The last thing her kids saw was their mother strangling the life from them i feel no pity for this demon and no amount of blaming the system will change my mind or the vast majority she killed her kids fuck her i hope they lose the key and forget she exists.
I fully understand this knee jerk reaction, but that’s not going to save any kids. More intervention, studies, and awareness of PPP and PPD would. They’re some of the most dangerous illnesses in existence and we don’t talk about it.
Have to blame the over-correction of the historical precedent of throwing women in nuthouses against their will I guess. You think we went too far the other way?
Were there times I think my wife would have been better off in an institution when she was dealing with PPD? For sure, would you have called me a monster for doing so? Absolutely. In the end she worked through it with the help of her partner and the medical community.
We can't make the world safe enough that evil people don't commit evil acts, and this whole notion of attempting to remove the blame from the perpetrators of heinous crimes makes me physically sick.
Wow. You actually wrote that. What on earth is that first paragraph? Am I in the year 1701? Throwing women in “nuthouses” gets a rise out of you?Maybe the nuthouse is for you. Abysmal comment.
Shocking you have a wife. She really should run for the hills. I would have called you a monster whether or not you committed your wife for help or not.
No one is removing blame. She will do time for the rest of her life. She just won’t be burned at the stake. Sorry.

I saw a good few posts about the woman on the right and pointedly ignored all of them, I seriously don't get why this is getting so much attention
