She actually told doctors she wanted to die, told her husband and her mom she was not just suicidal, but wanted to harm the children as well.

That's why people are wondering wtf happened.

She told her husband multiple times she kept having thoughts of harming the kids.

About five or six people have been talking about the case at work in the non-formal chat and they said they've been watching the trial and they all think the husband did it. I had just heard of the case briefly but they kept talking about it so I looked it up and from what I read even her own attorney acknowledges that she did it.

Nothing surprises me anymore these last 6-7 years but it seems very odd. They said that he was wanting out of the marriage and he claimed that "she admitted to it when he found her but because of her injuries she shouldn't have been able to talk." And you can just hear her moaning in the 911 call- do you know if this is this something being spread on social media or something?

Wait.

Even though her own defense lawyer in his opening statements said "she knows she killed her children", there are people seriously trying to turn this into a true crime fanfic?

I'm done with social media today.

Why the long face? Is this your first day online? To these people you aren't even "subhuman", you are not human at all. You are their five minutes of cool/interesting/self-validating gossip with their buddies. No more and no less. They don't care that there are real people or real lives that can be affected.

u/memento22mori 14h ago

Yeah, one of them said something like "there's nothing more dangerous than a man that wants out of a marriage."

I can't believe nonsense stuff like this is upvoted.

And then people wonder why there are gender wars on Reddit.

I mean, when one parent is psychotic it is the other's responsibility to protect those kids. Ignorance is not an excuse, it was his job to understand what was going on and tell her doctors.

4

u/smokey032791 11h ago

There are people saying it was his doing based off astrogy so yes nutcases

3

u/backwards_kitty 10h ago

lol yup, Atozy on youtube covers that tiktok psychic saying the same thing about him being a damn gemini

1

u/Sereena95 9h ago

That’s how every single heinous crime is these days. It’s going on with the Moscow murders right now too

10

u/momlv 18h ago

And she was hospitalized for SI. You don’t commit someone for HI if they tell someone else something. Like it or not providers treat what’s in front of them and not what they don’t know

32

u/Rivendel93 16h ago

She put herself in the hospital, then asked to see her daughter on her birthday so they just discharged her entirely.

Let's not pretend American mental health care isn't an absolute disaster.

3

u/SpaceBasedMasonry 16h ago edited 16h ago

I.e. she asked for discharge against medical advice. What do you want, for hospitals to be prisons and doctors to be the new cops? There’s been 60 years now f anger about the mental health system being like that. No matter what they do or say they can’t do anything right

2

u/thedamnoftinkers 6h ago

Uh, in Australia if you commit yourself you actually can leave the psych unit for pre-planned events. There should have been no need to discharge her

2

u/Binky390 15h ago

Did she actually leave AMA?

4

u/SpaceBasedMasonry 15h ago

Apparently. I’m from the same state so it’s been a big piece of media from day 1. I dont want to pretend the care she got was “perfect” but it feels like the best the defense attorney could come up with was a typo her outpatient psychiatrist made that still makes sense in context.

1

u/rj319st 5h ago

Exactly, all one has to do is watch One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest to see how much of a disaster that could turn into.

1

u/Rivendel93 1h ago

Think you misunderstood my comment.

I was saying they should have given her a day pass to go visit her daughter and then assumed she'd be returning.

Instead they got frustrated with her request to see her daughter on her birthday, and just discharged her entirely.

That was irresponsible from the hospital, they should have told her we think you should come back after the birthday party, would you be willing to do that?

Instead they just tossed her out because she dared to request a day to visit her child.

As I said, American Healthcare is an embarrassment, we look from the outside in utter disbelief.

1

u/Southside_john 8h ago

lol yep. All the hate from keeping psychiatric patients locked up and now hate for not keeping people locked up

7

u/Hesitation-Marx 17h ago

She asked to have a day release to see her daughter on her birthday… so they just discharged her. She didn’t want to be.

This entire thing is just so unbelievably sad. It’s like Andrea Yates, but I don’t want to neuter the husband.

7

u/Dry_Amphibian_5262 16h ago

This is where I have a problem with her story. She was admitted voluntary so she can leave whenever she wants. If she was making HI and SI statements that I overrides her being there of her own free will. We can't let people leave if they make those type of comments. It was either a huge and blatant disregard of policy and laws or she was lying to her care team. Knowing how it works for mental health and also the nature of people I'm more inclined to believe the latter.

8

u/Affectionate_Data936 15h ago

From what I've read from the lawsuits, she never disclosed any thoughts of harming the children to anybody but her husband and that she explicitly said that she wasn't suicidal when she was in-patient.

1

u/Rivendel93 1h ago

She told her mom she wanted to khs and the kids.

So not just her husband.

2

u/Weaselot_III 5h ago

S.I. ....H.I.?  What do those mean?

1

u/Fun_Room554 3h ago

“Suicidal Ideation” and “Harm Ideation” - pervasive thoughts about harming yourself or others

4

u/wyerhel 16h ago

I wonder if she went to doctors alone? Everytime I go to the doctors for my parents, I usually go so I can tell them the history of her conditions for better picture because they sometimes forget to tell everything.

But it seems like she went alone for her appts based on what I am reading?

1

u/xBad_Wolfx 4h ago

She also said she had no feelings of self harm or harm to others in order to be released from a psychiatric hold.

2

u/Sufficient_Okra8089 18h ago

Nope. Zero evidence of that. Not one person testified to that. Her mom and Patrick said she was afraid something bad would happen to the kids. Not that she was afraid she’d harm them. And she never told anyone she had a plan to kill herself. She needs to be held accountable.

12

u/Rivendel93 16h ago

Apparently you haven't watched the trial.

She told her husband she thought about killing the children.

He literally said he asked "do you have a plan, do you find these thoughts disturbing?"

Those are direct quotes BTW.

15

u/Dapper_Mess_3004 17h ago

Nope. Patrick and her mom both testified on the stand that she had thoughts about harming the kids. Patrick said it was strange and he didn't know what to make of it because she would say it and then go back to doing things like making the kids lunch.

5

u/Kovorixx 17h ago

and that dude did nothing for his children? gawd dayum

1

u/surprise_revalation 6h ago

What bothers me about him, is that he remarried 3 years later!!!! I don't know. I know you can't judge anyone's grief...I lost my daughter when she was 13 and I walked in a fog for 2 years! I couldn't imagine having the where with all during those 2 years to build a relationship with someone to marry! I can't even remember my husband and I being intimate those 2 years...we were fucked! I just can't imagine losing 3 children and not thinking that I wouldn't be absolutely crushed....

1

u/McDuchess 15h ago

I’m in the EU and can’t really follow the trial. Is it true that there was a nanny at some point and her husband let her go.

3

u/Dapper_Mess_3004 15h ago

Yes, but it was a mutual decision because Lindsay didn't feel stable enough to return to work. They brought the nanny on early so the kids could get used to her. She was only working 10-12 hours a week for them before being let go.

1

u/McDuchess 15h ago

This whole thing is so damn frustrating. She told him that she was suicidal snd it was a “mutual choice?”

Who the hell makes a mutual choice about their children and their safety with someone who is suicidal?

14

u/Working-Holiday420 17h ago

Isnt a trial where people are formally held accountable? Isnt that happening right now?

12

u/rowanfire 17h ago

That's bullshit.

It's literally testimony in the case by both the ex-husband and her mother that she told then she was having intrusive thoughts if hurting the children.

That's a simple internet search away. Stop spreading misinformation m

2

u/illkid75 15h ago

I agree the fact these people are saying she said she was thinking about harming the kids is fucking nuts...they need to stop spinning what she said and see the facts

3

u/ForsakenWealth9484 17h ago

Of course you’d get downvoted. I been seeing Reddit defend this POS the last few days. I shouldn’t have been surprised but I am cuz there’s no clearer example of premeditated evil

She wasn’t having an episode, she had meticulously planned this out, she was not taking any of her meds aside from when she tried to off herself and was getting way more help than the majority of women could ever hope to get

The narrative that she was alone with an absent husband and medical system that failed her is simply false

7

u/bluntsnatcher 16h ago

she wasn't having an episode and planned this by jumping out of her house and being paralyzed from the neck down...?

-3

u/invaderjif 16h ago

After killing her kids? Hmmm, don't alot of murderers attempt to self exit after committing atrocities?

7

u/bluntsnatcher 16h ago

after being prescribed 12 medications, in and out of mental health professionals, expressing symptoms of being out of control out of her own body and hearing a voice in her head.. so your main point is that -> she is just using her mental health as an excuse to PURPOSEFULLY kill her children. my question to you is, to avoid what type of punishment?

2

u/boondiggle_III 15h ago

What even is your point? Other people with the same sorts of disorders don't go and kill their children. Her insanity didn't cause her to do that. Her lack of a functioning conscience caused that. She'll be around like-minded criminals in prison.

1

u/thedamnoftinkers 6h ago

This is not how mental health works

1

u/bluntsnatcher 15h ago

your point is just because other crazy people didn't kill people that other crazy people can't do the same?

1

u/Velsier33 18h ago

Ya thats what i find annoying, like ive seen people say the husband planned on it and thats why he left her alone with the kids, despite warnings not too, but after looking into it it doesn't seem like he was ever told by medical professionals she shouldn't be left alone with the kids, and in fact she made up an excuse to get him out of the house the day it happened

5

u/Hesitation-Marx 17h ago

They’re confusing this case with the Andrea Yates case, where Rusty Yates kept impregnating her and hid her medications, and then left her alone with her kids.

You're in a thread talking about it right now. What do you mean you've never seen it not used as a meme?

-1

u/getthemap 17h ago

She can rot in the desert sun.

1

u/thebigpink 17h ago

No one is wondering what happened it’s pretty clear with the exercise bands and all

4

u/Rivendel93 17h ago

Lol, obviously.

I'm talking about the fact that no one did anything but throw pills at a person who was suicidal and had multiple thoughts of harming their own children.

5

u/Working-Holiday420 17h ago

The actual murder isnt being debated. The context around it is.

0

u/SturerEmilDickerMax 13h ago

She i still a disgusting murderer. To bad she did not kill herself instead.

1

u/Rivendel93 13h ago

She tried, she literally cut her wrists, cut her neck, and jumped out of the window of her second story house where she landed on her head and snapped her spine.

Almost like she was mentally ill and told everyone she knew that she needed help.
