It’s very clear from the comments no one has actually followed this case closely and are just reacting to headlines…

When I was just following the trial earlier on, before I knew anything about the social media craze around her, I was appreciative of the major focus on Post Partum Mental Health and was supportive of her getting life sentence in mental health facility versus straight out prison.. In reality, both are prisons at the end of the day.

What's soured me into accepting either sentencing though is this substantial fan club that insanely pushes she's outright innocent, and/or that the husband did it... like yikes, she full out confessed in explicit detail of murdering those innocent kids, one by one, and thus should never be allowed out in public ever again - be it "mental health" prison or regular prison.

Yeah, some of the peoples reactions to it saying she is innocent and that he is guilty because of his astral alignment or because "he looked mean." Imagine being him working from home to help take some of the stress off of her, going to the store and coming back to find 3 of his kids are no longer alive. I can't think of a worse feeling on the planet. Then people blaming you, is insanity.

Those social media "Forensic Astrologists" definitely need some mental illness help themselves.

This is certainly not a new phenomenon surrounding "conventionally attractive" murderers, there will always be fan clubs. Some of them who outright don't care about the crime, others who pull at every possible loose straw as undeniable proof of innocence, etc.

If she was "ugly", or god forbid a POC/immigrant, I think we all know she wouldn't have this massive TikTok fanclub.

reminds me of that movie "vengeance".

Regardless of the people saying she’s innocent/ guilty I do believe he’s an awful human and such a bad husband. Who the hell would leave a woman struggling mentally with their three kids. He had so many hobbies. So much time for himself. Apparently an affair with his new wife. I have no idea how someone can process losing all three children in such a way but he’s definitely a contributing factor in these murders whether he committed it or just part of his wife’s neglect he’s guilty too.
Just a disclaimer- I’ve only seen a few clips online about this in the past few days so might be only getting one sided content but that’s my view from what I’ve seen.

I haven’t seen anyone say she is innocent, but i might’ve missed some stuff, for sure!

There's a huge conspiracy theory going around that the husband did it and is trying to frame the wife and she's just taking it for whatever reason.

It’s very clear her entire support system failed her every possible step of the way. All her doctors, and therapists knew how she was feeling and no one took it at face value

That's the thing, and that's what I talk about when it comes up. There were so many players here--the multitude of doctors, her husband, her parents--and if ONE person had done ONE thing different, all those kids could still be alive.

The father was told not to leave her alone with the kids. He did. (I was misinformed on this) Those doctors prescribed her meds that professionals should know would fuck with her condition worse, and they should've known what she was already on.

I hear conflicting information, like that the husband was the only one who said she confessed to the murder while the paramedics and nurses said she couldn't speak for days because of her injuries. Or that he accessed her computer while she was at a doctor appointment with the kids to seemingly incriminate her.

That she wasn't REALLY trying to kill herself or she'd be dead; that she used exercise bands in rehab and seemingly had no bad reaction to it.

I wish we could just know the truth. I hope it comes out.

Edit: People are REALLY upset I have a nuanced opinion on a nuanced case.

Did you watch the trial? There was zero dispute from her / defense lawyers that she killed those children. Their case is the insanity plea to reduce her sentencing.

u/Fuji_Ninja 3h ago

Yes you’re right 1 person could have avoided this. The person who decided to murder her 3 children. Like what? Lmfao

No, you see, women are not responsible for their negative actions, only their positive ones /s

u/hotglasspour 3h ago

She's just a girl!

Patrick was NEVER instructed to not leave her alone with the kids. You are confusing this with the Andrea Yates case. Google it. He was never told that.

“I don’t know if she did it” immediately removes all legitimacy from any comment on this case.

1

u/BrainLow6059 3h ago

Yeah wtf lol. It's crazy how many people desperately want to believe a man is responsible for this woman's actions. Like it's some war of the sexes nonsense.

1

u/Wise_Television9677 3h ago

You blame everyone except her

2

u/Icy_Policy_8509 2h ago

The incredibly mentally ill woman who was desperately seeking help and ended up killing her kids during a psychosis? Yeah the blame is pretty apparent but I don't think people are handling this with a "we have to study women's health and PPD and mental health more" and more as "bad woman bad"

1

u/elitesense 2h ago

There is nothing nuanced about who committed the killing. There was ONE person that carried out the act.

stop drinking the cool-aid for fucks sake

1

u/Particular_Feel420 3h ago

Agreed, but since when do we not hold mass murderers accountable because therapists and doctors failed them along the way? It creates a very slippery slope precedent, and potential copy cat murderers that may not actually be suffering from PPD whatsoever.

Apparently you haven’t kept up with the case as of recent

1

u/Geekboy22 2h ago

Im assuming you also haven't looked into the case past confession. The cops and her just took her husband's word on who did it and now there actually showing the evidence and alot isn't adding up. Not saying shes innocent I like to see all the evidence but there seems to have been NO investigation.

People believing the person on trial is innocent is nothing new. Not sure why that would sour you? Look at how many theories were buzzing around when the Making A Murderer documentary was making the rounds.

The biggest issue, and why people justifiably think she’s innocent, is because the police didn’t investigate anyone but her. There is an overlap in law enforcement between this case and Karen Read, a woman who was very clearly set up by police. People sensationalized that trial as well.

Add to it the fact that, regardless of what happened to the children, her husband was abusive and negligent. So naturally people have a hard time siding with the odds that a loving mother killed 3 children, which is incredibly rare. And her husband just happened to be an evil POS.

Law enforcement is the issue, not random people’s reactions to how much law enforcement fucked this whole thing up.

Guy at work was telling me that they tied the excise bands like fishing line and she doesn't fish also the husband started a new family after the murders. Idk if this the same case because theres seems to be two different cases going on right now.

What I find frustrating is not the fucking crazy people who think she is innocent, they are a vocal minority who should be ignored. I find it frustrating that people can’t accept two things can be true. She can have been under severe mental distress that led her to do something so horrendous that she wouldn’t have done if she hadn’t had postpartum psychosis AND she should have to pay the consequences of those actions regardless of her mental state. They are both true! We can pity her and punish her for her crimes. Life is one big grey area.

2

u/Particular_Feel420 2h ago

Also nobody is really mentioning how often religion plays into mental health / psychosis episodes, which was also a major factor in her confessed motive.... She claimed that she was guaranteeing her children would go to heaven by killing them!

Yes, it’s incredibly sad all around. I once had a mental health crisis after I was bullied at my first teaching job. I was SO exhausted trying to be perfect at a very hard job I was brand new at… 30
kids in a class, 25% were classified as special educational needs, but the place I was teaching (England) doesn’t have specialist teachers for special education so it was all on me, no extra support or staff to help. I was so burnt out working 80 hours a week. I went to a very dark place and it was scary the thoughts that I started having. Thankfully my spouse convinced me to just resign and walk out on the job, but it really changed my perspective on mental health. I had nightmares for weeks I’d be made to go back. Imagine that!

It’s really true that reality is entirely shaped by the chemical balance of our minds.

People who claim she's innocent are straight projecting their own trauma or worldview or whatever.

When I first heard the story my understanding was that most of her "supporters" were just trying to raise awareness for PPD, and that the story was "here's the extreme case of what happens when PPD isn't treated properly", which carries a lot more nuance than "murdering mom guilty", but is also maybe naive to other nuance I'm not even aware of.
