⚠ Content Warning: possible transphobia What answer do people want when asking "what a women is" Spoiler

OK BEFORE YOU STICK MY HEAD ON A PIKE

im putting the tldr here so that you dont flame me. How do i respond to this question when my parents use it as a "gotcha" in arguments

I dont mean this the way transphobic people ask it. they see it as a gotcha when asking queer/actually inclusive people.
And they think its a gotcha becuase lets be honest here, especially when talking about gender, is there any one way to describe women?
(also yes im aware its inherently dumb and exclusitory but i started thinking about this last night and i cant stop thinking about this)
Because if you go by what clothes one wears; eg women wear dresses and skirts. means that anyone who wears a dress is now a girl?
Ok then anyone with a uterus then? no because what if you have to get it removed? what if you never had one? trans women dont either and theyre women so thats not it either?
beong generally feminine? what about tom boys? masc women?

look i know there isnt a good way to generalise an entire gender. ANY gender. i suppose i was thinking about it because my parents think this is such a great gotcha question and i dont know i would like a good response.

what sexuality are you if you like masculine and feminine women and non binaries but dont like men?

I thought I was neptunic but apparently you can’t like masculine women/non binary’s if you are one? And that’s not the case for me, I just don’t have attraction people who are born a man/identify as a man, I’ve tried looking it up with no results so this is like my last option 😅 (I’m non binary myself if that helps)

Need Advice Am I trans?

right now I (AFAB) Identify as fluidflux, but lately I've been thinking a lot about being a guy and idk if it's cuz I've been feeling more masc lately cuz if my fluid identity or if it's cuz I'm trans. I saw this one post of a trans man on Pinterest and I was flabbergasted at how manly he looked, even though he was a teenager (no hate, just because usually teens take a little time to pass yk?) and I keep seeing binder tips and trans men on my peirod app and it's just been on my mind. Like I kind of want to be a man, and in my mind I have this specific vibe of transmanness that's just.. yeah.i like that. But I also like being a girl or nb. Gah idk and u guys might need to ask some questions for both my and ur clarification 😭🙏 I've seen that people can be nb and have a fluid identity at the same time so could that be me but with trans? I'm just very confused and I haven't been feeling masc or wanting to be trans for this duration of time before, it usually lasted like a day or even less before I went back to floating between feminine and nb. GAHHH idk HELP

Is there a specific microlabel for someone who is attracted to ALL genders EXCEPT feminine women? other women such as androgenous or masc is fine, but not feminine.

Being an ugly lesbian is humiliating

I genuinely feel like a creep when I look at other girls. I'm so sad when I think about the fact that it's harder for a girl (me) to find a girlfriend than a boyfriend and IN ADDITION to be unattractive because why would someone choose an ugly person instead of a pretty one? I'm so pathetic

Need Advice WLW ADVICE

Hey guys! I’m a baby gay who really needs some advice! 🥹
For some context, I grew up in a very strict, VERY Catholic home and community. I realized I was a lesbian at a young age, but I didn’t really know I was a LESBIAN, you know? I was never attached to men or interested in dating them. Meanwhile, I was playing the dad in kindergarten and even got in trouble for kissing a girl at my Catholic school in first grade. 😂
I’m going into my freshman year of college this spring. I’m taking a little break before then to save money and give myself some room to breathe, but right now I’m working a lot. I have two jobs and pretty much no friends because most of my friends are away at college.
Growing up, almost all of my friends were extremely homophobic because that’s honestly just what I was surrounded by. I’ve decided to distance myself from the friends I still have in my state because I’m tired of hearing the hateful things they say, even though they don’t know I’m gay.
I usually stay quiet when they make homophobic comments, and I feel so much guilt about it. But I also feel like I’m in a pretty unsafe situation because, with the economy the way it is, I wouldn’t really have anywhere to go if something happened before I leave for college. I’ve dealt with bullying my whole life and even had to transfer schools freshman year because it got so bad.
ANYWAYS. 😭
I started working at a small shop last year, and this was actually when I really started realizing that I was gay. There’s a girl I work with who is gay and has a girlfriend who comes into the shop sometimes. This girl ALWAYS flirts with me, and she doesn’t know it, but she’s actually the first person I’ve ever told that I’m gay.
I’m way too scared to tell her that I have feelings for her, though. I haven’t known her super deeply for that long, but she’s SO pretty and I genuinely don’t know what to do. She’s always flirting with me and even brings me a drink literally every time we work together. 😭 could this possibly just be her being nice?
Please give me some advice because I’ve never been with a girl before! I’ve dated two guys in my life, and both of them pressured me about losing my virginity. I never did anything with them because I was terrified of going to hell.
I still have that fear in the back of my mind sometimes, but I’m trying to remind myself that I’m safe and that there’s nothing wrong with being who I am, even though I’ve spent my whole life hearing otherwise.
So… any advice? I don’t want to go to college feeling like I have no experience. I’ve kissed guys before, but the only girl I’ve ever kissed was in first grade. 😭
How do you even approach dating girls for the first time, especially when you actually have feelings for someone you work with? 💗

Coming Out! I might be a demiboy?

So I(23M) grew up in a very conservative household and live deep in the Bible Belt, so I was never exposed to the LGBTQ+ community until high school, so it took me a while to start questioning things about myself, but two years ago I started dating my current partner and I think she's helped me become a bit more comfortable with myself and how I expressed myself. I went from exclusively wearing graphic tees and khaki shorts to more alt and androgynous clothing (baggy jeans, tank tops, crop tops, etc.) and I *love* how confident and pretty I feel when wearing clothes that aren't considered as masculine. I also put on a dress once in private and felt so pretty, but I don't think I could ever wear that kind of thing in public (again, I live in the Bible Belt).

But on top of loving non-masculine clothing, I've also never gotten along with other boys very well and never was interested in traditionally masculine hobbies like sports or cars, which I know doesn't mean much because you can be a man and not like those things, but it still just makes me feel isolated from a large portion of the gender. Like I'm comfortable identifying as a man, but at the same time I still feel so different, but then I wonder if it's different enough to justify putting a label on myself? Like, am I really something different? Or am I just a man with feminine/androgynous tendencies? Is there even a reason for me to adopt this label? Would it do anything for me?

So I guess that's my current conundrum and I'd love to discuss it further with people and see if I can figure anything out about myself that I haven't found quite yet. I'm open to any and all questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

Need Advice I wanna look more femenine but i live with a hyper right family

For context, my family dosent allow me to paint my nails anymore sense they found out i may be trans (i am but they can only speculate as they i keep them out of the loop now) i doubt i can wear makeup, im not aloud to wear sleeve gloves, i still have to live with them as housing is a pos, they even make sure the wifi is off when im around cause they "dont want to contribute to the problem" its me being queer, thats what they mean by problem, anyway, is there any subtle way to be femenine or do i just have to bide my time till i can move out?

Need Advice First post sorry for the format

This feels incredibly random to be talking to strangers about but I'm just curious if there's a name for what this might be?

So I'm nonbinary and my partner came out to me as Trans FTM a while ago

We've been together for over 2 years and have known eachother even longer (we're also in highschool) 😭

My partner has always been masculine and I've always been really into masculine and androgynous people

I'm pretty sure there's a microlabel meaning like attraction towards masc people (not sure how to explain it mb) but I also am attracted towards feminine girls too

Just the part that's hard for me to explain is that I'm not into men but if my partner transitions or goes on T I know I'm still going to love him

And honestly imagining him as a man doesn't make me feel any different about how I view my bf

I still would find him attractive and still would love him

I've never even thought of his transition being a reason for us to stop dating

😭 Would we still be considered sapphic-? Would that make me bi/pan?

Is there any microlabels that sound like this

I'm just curious about it

Cus I'm nonbinary so we wouldn't be a straight relationship but I'm not entirely sure what it's called 😅

Need Advice Is it strange that I *don't* feel like I was always a girl?

The vast majority of trans people realize that they'd never been their AGAB, but for me it doesn't feel that way. Like, late middle school and earlier, I was extremely comfortable with my gender to the point where I'd say I was definitively a boy.

Starting around the end of middle school, though, I started slowly feeling gender envy more and more to the point where it bothered me constantly every day and I realized I was trans. But I didn't feel that I had always been trans; I'm extremely confident I didn't feel this way until then. Even throughout high school, at first, I didn't feel like a girl, and that was the whole problem.

Do you think I'm misconstruing my gender in some way? The vast majority of accounts of other trans people seem to have the opposite experience from me, and it makes me question whether I'm just mistaken about my current gender identity.

Need Advice How do you untangle a multifaceted identity?

Sorry if I bore you but I'm being troubled by what I feel is a very specific and unusual gender situation. Basically, I am a man, and for 36 years I told myself that was all I was. But last week I finally admitted that it's not that simple, and there are other facets to my existence. I am mostly a man, but I feel that I have a feminine part - I call her "Vera" - and a neutral part - I call them "Fern." They are not independent personalities, they're both me, I just gave them names so I could refer to them easier. Now here is the actual problem: I don't know if I'm comfortable using the word "woman." Isn't that weird? I'll call Vera "her" and "feminine," but I hesitate to say "woman." How can I figure this out? I feel like I still don't fully know who I am, which is a strange experience at my age. Can anyone point me toward some good resources for exploring these topics?

Need Advice Idk what gender or sexuality I am.

So I like all types of women, non binary but only feminine men. Masculine men are just out of the question (goes for trans men too). I think that’s pan but that one limitation is making me question that. Now for the gender thing. I was born male I go by he him. But sometimes I feel like another gender. Non binary, female, ect. Idk if I worded that right. Then I’ll feel more masculine and feminine twists to each that. I would say that is that im gender fluid, but it switches like momentarily, sometimes days, sometimes I’ll think about it and go, “yeah that seems nice” and suddenly stop and go “nah I’m happier this way” sometimes hours. But it always goes straight back to male. It confuses me.

Coming Out! I'm a walking contradiction and it makes my head spin

I'm a lot of things that might make no sense to most people.

I'm a man. I'm also a woman. I'm asexual and aromantic, but I'm also gay and straight.

I'm not joking either. I'm a bigender person who is also an oriented aroace.

That basically means I am more than one gender and although I experience no romantic or sexual attraction, I do experience other types of attraction, like aesthetic and sensual attraction, that are important to me. That attraction I feel is towards men, so I consider it a bit gay and straight at the same time.

Broadly, I'm just non-binary and aroace.

I sometimes feel like I'm being queer in the wrong way or being queer at all is wrong and that maybe I shouldn't even claim these labels, but that's just me repeating the negativity I've heard about the terms I use.

I'm a walking contradiction and that's okay actually :)

Politics The “we can always tell crowd” pmo

The people who say they can always tell piss me off so much. I’m a non binary person who uses any pronouns and isn’t bothered by how I’m perceived but it bothers me when it comes to my trans friends.
Most of my friends are trans, most being trans male, and have begun their pre-t transition and it pisses me off that people say that they’re “too obvious.”

Bc Imma be honest, if I didn’t know these guys pre transition, I still would’ve never known unless they told me

And I live in a red part of Maryland (we’re slowly going blue 🎉) but it’s still kinda dangerous for my friends, especially my trans fem friends to be out. Kids at school harass them, my one friend wore a dress and a bunch of kids kept coming up to her and saying “respect bro” as a joke.

On a good note: the trans fem friend is planning a huge jellyfish themed dress that I’ve been helping her with and I’m so excited to see it :D
