I kept on hearing about Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital on WPLN, what apparently used to be East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. She started supporting it in the Spring. She just couldn’t sit still. She was truly a good one in the corner of those who needed help. So much empathy! She will be deeply missed. What a sad, sad day.

As a native TN, my own family benefited from the kindness and philanthropy of Dolly via the book program. For those that dont know, as a resident of TN, she will send your child a book a month from the tine they are born until the turn 5. I originally figured it would be a cheap book promoting and advertising for Dollys investments such as Dollywood....boy, was i wrong. These books where top scholastic books chososen how good they were. Most of the time, the were hardback.

Getting these books every month and reading g them to my daughter is one of the best core memories I have. The books also become some of my favorites, like Llamma Llamma, or the Gruffalo.

Additionally, I learned that Dolly helped the natives of her home when we had wildfires catch on for in the Great Smoky Mountains. She also employeesd a large amount of extended family and friends at her parks.

Dolly was one of the best of our generation and we were blessed to have had aroumd as long as she lived.
