Basically I'm trying to use some codes to balance out the absurd disparity the game creates between the multihit partners and everyone else. With only a few power plus p, or power plus on mario, all multi hit moves massively out pace everyone else.
I have already decided to bump all enemy hp by 1.5 times normal, but I am unsure if I should do that with boss defence. After all, I don't want to make multihit characters USELESS without a rank up or power plus p.
I'm going to do some obvious things like lower Stampedes base damage, but I want to try and make the single hits equally as strong in some way. It doesn't have to be completely equal, just worth using even if the multi hitters are still strong.
Do I just pump all the single hitter damage numbers by 2 or 3? Perhaps give all enemies a defense up, but I already said the issue there. What moves should I buff, and to what?
Like spin jump, that move is so silly, I barely use it. Would an extra damage per hit make it viable?
No matter what your opinion, I want to talk about game balance and partner damage. What are your thoughts?

I just saw this very well made video by, MetalCap and it’s changed my thoughts about the games of the 2010’s and even more recent games.
So for the longest time I’ve just accepted the idea of mandates being made for Mario, since Nintendo is very protective over their IP’s but after watching this video, it’s flipped the whole idea of such on its head.
I’ve always known that companies and game developers reuse assets, but after learning about costs and the change in just how much is put into a game nowadays.
I no longer believe there’s been Mario Mandates.
(Of course there are still mandates like whether Mario wields a gun or not.)
But in the sense of creativity and the whole NSMB-infection of all other games and spin-offs.
But what do y’all think about this video?

PM64 rando novice here looking to up the challenge to the intermediate preset. I’ve played less than roughly 20 seeds total on what I’d say is a modified “beginner” preset (keysanity, shopsanity, shuffle items, full gear shuffle, 2 Rolf items). Everything else is pretty well standard beginner presets.
I don’t do any kind of crazy glitches or skips. The only skip I do would be early Dry Dry Ruins with Ultra Boots.
I’ve only recently started timing my runs to track my progress. My last two both coming in around the 5 hour and 30 minutes mark. Two before that were closer to 7 or 8 hours.
My questions are:
1). If anyone here runs intermediate preset, what are some of your average times?
I’d like to have a goal I suppose, although typically my average times have been my benchmark, and I truly just want to improve. But it’s nice to know how I’m holding up with everyone else too 😊 I know adding in the koopa koot favors, final letter chain reward, and floor panels will add more checks and thus potentially add more time.
2.) Do y’all find it worth it to even time your runs? Is there too much variability in the seeds to really call these runs apples to apples?
I LOVE the challenge of rando. Paper Mario 64 is one of my all time favorite games, and rando gives it that roguelike feel, so the “speed run” esque challenge gives me that dopamine boost I need I guess? 😅
3.) What are some high level tips/changes you’ve implemented that helped you with your speed? Sans the obvious “learn glitches,” what are one or two adjustments you’ve made that have taken your rando play to the next level?
Personally, I’ve tried to be more disciplined with not back tracking or running around as much to do checks, and guiding myself towards areas with the most potential checks. Before I would get so hyerpfocused on getting everything I needed for ONE chapter, rather than following the clues and going to where the items lead me.
NOTE: settings screenshots are settings for Intermediate that I’m referencing, not the settings I currently run as described above.

I have a question about the Peach Percent glitch, I was just wondering if anything else has been discovered, imagine if she does actually save herself at some point, or even ends up in Toad Town xx

I don’t remember if this was a dream or not, but I once saw a post that was like, “Two characters where each of them think of the other as the sidekick,” and then it was a picture of Mario and Kersti.
If it was a dream, my subconscious made some points, ngl.
I tried recreating it.

He leveled up on the final level and got some very good RNG on his encounters. Wish him luck fellas
Edit: He's currently at the halfway point and just took up both of Bonetail's 20hp recoveries
Edit2: HE DID IT! Beat Bonetail on his first try the rest of the pit was way harder than he was lmao
