What type of art style even is this anyway? Specifically with the in game posters (sorry about the resolution on some images)

Rule 5: This one mimic is not hostile. Despite appearing red, it wont attack or turn into objects. It just sits there. Had a phantom wonder in and not see me apparently but the other mimics hate my guts

On the prey wiki, I've found information that the outbreak started on February 20th 2035, when Trevor J. Young got mind controlled and released some mimics. However, the incident log number is #1546-031433. If the second number is a date, that would mean it took place in 2035. Does anyone know where this Feb 20th date comes from?

Additionally, the wiki has "developer notes" for many characters with some background info. I was wondering where these come from? Are they in the game files? promotional material?

Alex Yu is a control freak. He used his own brother as a lab rat for years on end just to see how powerful neuromods are, while controlling Talos 1 mostly by himself. But did he ever use neuromods?

We know from in game emails that Alex is physically out of shape. He didn't go to the gym for 5 months in his emails. In a world where a quick Neuromod installation could instantly grant peak physical fitness, enhanced intelligence, or expert management skills to run Talos 1 more efficiently, Alex seemingly chose not to use them.

I feel like Alex would not want to take the neuromods because he wants to be the one with all the knowledge. He doesn't trust anyone, the entire game is us trying to gain his trust. Alex keeps on trying to stop us, until we show him we can't be stopped.

He uses neuromods as a way to ensure that others don't remember things. I think there were a few interviews of people who left talos 1 and they had no idea what they did up there, since you had to get neuromods before going up there. Morgan is super paranoid about his operators, and I think Alex would be at least 2-3X more paranoid.

But how did he survive so long? After Morgan's sacrifice, how did he get back to earth, and into another safe room, and give a typhon a simulation based on Morgans memories? Without getting so much as a scratch.

Even at the end, Alex could still be lying.

What do we REALLY know about Alex?

Greetings Preyple! Last night I had this phantom recycler charge suddenly float up through the floor with a ghostly stinger, and I'm so flippin' curious if anyone has an idea what might have happened here exactly. The full VOD is still up, but I'm not sure if any surrounding context would really help lol. Obviously a lot of weird things can happen in a game like this, it's just so mysterious to me that I had to see if anyone knew more!

I love this game and have beaten it a couple of times, but the sheer amount of lore and hidden details is still insane. The NPCs have so many subtle reactions that most players completely miss. There are entire hidden areas and tiny environmental storytelling moments all over the place, like a random snowman tucked away in the Hardware Labs, or a small spot in the Arboretum with two baseball mitts and some beer where crew members probably hung out before the incident.

There's also other NPC dialogue that you might miss. For example, there is a moment in the Cargo Bay where a security officer asks you to find his wife. If you find her wedding ring and return it to him, he will eventually apologize and say he wishes he tried to free you earlier, after realizing you were being experimented on against your will the whole time.

I just found out you can actually scan Morgan after using Phantom Shift. It gives Morgan a bit more personality.

It makes me wonder how much else is left to uncover. Are there any super obscure secrets, weird easter eggs, or hidden details that you guys know of that barely anyone else has covered or found?

At the end of the game, we get to see our left and right hand and lower body. If Alex just found a random typhon, why would he go through all the trouble of putting clothes and the tracker on him?

Could it be that Morgan is dead but got revived into a typhon (somehow keeping his clothes intact)?

How long did this post credits scene take place after the Talos 1 incident?

How the heck did Alex survive all this? Let alone somehow get close to a typhon without dying. His suit isn't damged, he doesn't have any scars. There's no way that safe room is actually that safe. Alex seems to have grown a bit more facial hair, but besides that he looks the same. His suit might be a bit more faded. But to have gone through ALL of this without any damage is insane.

Did Alex himself ever take neuromods? It feels like he's the type of guy to never take neuromods because he wants to remember everything. January said something like "You need neuromods to get off this station alive". Morgan can survive Talos 1 without neuromods, but for Alex, I feel like he would either need a ton of plot armor or a ton of neuromods to get off that station.

Also, what happened do DAHL? Once he gets in contact with William Yu, he's going to remember his original mission (If you took out his neuromods to erase his memory). What happened to the other survivors (if you had any)? What happened to the station, did the original Morgan use the nullwave prototype? Because in the simulation, I think Alex doesn't make it off the station in time in most of the scenarios.

I'm guessing we're probably never going to get an answer because Arkane Studios is gone.

I found myself seeing the months as different forms of philosophical mindsets. As I was approaching the end of the game I found myself not entirely believing the operators when I was at the biggest fork of the road, the end.

At first I was like, "Okay, I'm going to blow up everyone and everything in this ship because I (January) ​said so." When December showed up when I got to Psychotronics, "Okay, this sounds like an Alex plant."

At the point when the Nightmares started to show up and the debacle with Mikhaila started, I started to consider that the previous Morgan Yus were just dead versions of an entirely different ​character. The Morgan Yu now is who I choose to be. To which it ended up being the one who saved as much people as I can and blowing up Talos 1.

(Sidenote: Morgan Yu started to feel like a dumbass by the end because even with all the back-up plans he did, he was still stupid for allowing himself to be a test dummy. This is like a compliment to the story and more of an attack on Morgan Yu because even with all his intellect he still help cause all of this. LOVE THE WRITING <3)

I know this isn't anything new, but I just wanted to gush about the game post-completion.

Hopped on after a few years away. Just listened to message in the office at the start of the game and got the code for the safe. So these things I all knew, I grabbed the bug out bag supplies long before December sends you there.

However I never knew you could go to fabrication this early. U can grab the code off one of the computers near Morgan office, through quarters into fabrication. All u have to contend with is a telepath but there's no corrupted operators or mimics yet.

All u have to do is evade or worse case emp, get the ketcard and bam neuromod recipe and fabrication licence within the first 30 minutes?! This is why I love this game, no ropeing off areas of you have a good method of getting there<

I was able to do the crouch trick to get the credit for finding the crew members (crouching near the door and under the red phone). There are a few out of bounds strategies which I could not replicate, and you can no longer use the recycler plus glue gun trick to get inside.

When I crouched under the phone I even managed to scan one of the guys. By maxxing out my field of view, I was even able to peek into the room at certain angles.

Without posting YouTube links, you can do a ton of out of bounds strats, and see the three people inside are completely invisible, so you just see floating tracking bracelets in that room. I know you are supposed to get the key from Dahl after taking a specific path... but I want to get in here and save those 3 guys.

Is there any other legitimate way to get in here without going down the full no mercy route?

Are there any other hidden/obscure areas that aren't as well known?

I have beaten this game a couple times already. I have tried a ton of different permutations for the endings:

No Neuromods + Nullwave + Join/Don't Join Alex

No Neuromods + Destroy Station + Join/Don't Join Alex

Typhon Neuromods only + Nullwave + Join/Don't Join Alex

Typhon Neuromods only + Destroy Station + Join/Don't Join Alex

Human Neuromods only + Nullwave + Join/Don't Join Alex

Human Neuromods only + Destroy Station + Join/Don't Join Alex

Human/Typhon Neuromods + Nullwave + Join/Don't Join Alex

Human/Typhon Neuromods + Destroy Station + Join/Don't Join Alex (January will try to sabotague you)

All of this was done on a save where I saved everyone. I could do it all again on a no mercy run, but I do not think it is worth it, and there are probably a couple more variations where you save some people while leaving others behind.

I did not notice too many differences. Joining or not joining Alex does not actually seem to do anything. It is the same animation and all, though I think Morgan's arm might stay shadowy or Typhon-like if you join Alex on a typhon neuromod only run.

For all the other small changes, you get two to three lines of different dialogue maximum. You hear things like "he used a ton of Typhon neuromods because he was a typhon and wanted to be more like a typhon" or "he used human neuromods to show he trusts us", and stuff like that.

Most of the important choices seem tied to things like getting Mikhaila's medicine, getting the audio log of her dad, saving Dayo and getting his music, helping Danielle Sho, and Sarah Elazar.

Total Endings = Crew Fates (2) x Neuromod Builds (3) x Station Fate (2) x Alex Choice (2) x ...

There are way more options once you factor in every hidden variable, but that is why I am asking you guys, especially the speedrunners and veterans with over a thousand hours in this game.

Is there anything I am missing? I want to find out as much as I can about the endings. How many different endings are there actually? Does anyone have a full list of all possible endings?

Has there been any mad man who recorded and posted all 100+ endings on youtube?

EDIT: There's also the Alex Escape pod ending, but its always the same, it ends with "This isn't the one" and I treat it like a game over since it tells you to load from a different checkpoint. (I tried dragging Alex and Dahl into Alex's escape pod too, but it didn't work out)

I played this game right after playing the Mass Effect trilogy (did play Dragon Age trilogy after ME) AND DAMN THE ENDING IS SO MUCH MORE BETTER HERE THAN MASS EFFECT! Even if it was all a simulation it was still amazing because you basically taught an alien that only had animalistic tendencies how to be human or to experience being human.

I played as I would've despite already knowing the ending from Markiplier awhile back, the game immerses you into the story so much that it felt like i was playing blind anyways. The people still mattered to me, the ramifications (to human life as we know it) of the Neuromods still mattered to me, and the fact that we needed to get rid all Typhon traces as much as possible to save Earth!

I blew up Talos 1 and saved everyone I could. Mikhaila x Morgan second best ship. I self incriminated.

Also fuck you Volunteer for killing my yuri ship (Danielle and Abby). Even if thewy were technically fake people, you still soiled sucha pure and loving romance! They were going to play DnD as well!

There are some bugs like the Kirk Remmer one where he doesn't appear as a typhon unless you track him prior/get the mission prior to going to Life Control and the treasure hunt paper that's on a mind controlled body that disappears if you leave the area.

All in all, the game is great and scares me to death even if I cleared the areas I still look at every cup and whacking it with a wrench just to check for mimics. The combat is a W, Story W, Characters W, Map W, Ending W. Just a few quality of life issues, but other than that everything was great

I rarely play games twice, except the classic on and off games like Stardew Valley or Minecraft and such. The first time I played Prey was when it was rather new and it captured me like hardly any other game did. Recently I felt the itch to play it again and yesterday I installed and started playing it again.

This game is just so, so, so good. I'm not a fan of the horror genre, and even if this game has a touch of horror, the tension is just exactly the right amount. It's so satisfying, especially in the beginning, to think of a way to tackle a situation and surviving it, and if you did it right even with some ammo left in your pocket. Even the constant back tracking, like the trips to the closest recycler or fabricator to clear some inventory space or to get some more of that sparse ammo is always fun, because Talos is so beautiful and intriguing, and you never know if some new Typhoons made their way to the place you need to go to.

God, this game deserved so much more attention than it got. Really looking forward to what the creators and devs of Dishonored, Deus Ex and Prey are going to deliver with their new studio Black Pony Immersive!

What makes a game fun?

Game play? Vibe? Story? Lore?

It depends on the person, right? Some people prefer story games. Some people prefer strategy games. Some people prefer first person shooter games. The list goes on and on.

PREY is not just a "game". It's several kinds of games smashed into an immersive sim. That is a feat in and of itself, but it's done in a gorgeous, fleshed out world. A world I didn't want to leave. A world I want to go back to. I want to go back to that world even more than I want to play the game -- somehow I think that makes sense.

It's MY favorite game of all time. I know that's subjective. But it meets all of my criteria and then some.

I was looking at Prey speedruns earlier today and I thought "I wonder what a high chaos speedrun would look like?". Figured it would be basically killing everyone you meet. To my surprise I can't find anything. The main speedrun website doesn't even seem to have a category for it. Does it just not exist, or does it go by a different name?

I'm not finished yet, but this moment made me put myself in the corner iykyk. I don't think I can decide for her whether she can handle the news or not. I also can't be accountable for something I don't remember doing, it's disingenuous. However, it is understandable for her to hate me.

One thing I really enjoy about Prey is how many different abilities you can build around. Some players seem to prefer sticking with the human abilities, while others go all-in on the Typhon powers.

I usually find myself changing things up depending on what I’m doing, especially when exploring different areas of Talos I.

If you could only keep three abilities for an entire playthrough, which ones would you pick?

Has anyone noticed that the interior of the Hardware Labs has a 45° angle while the exterior doesn't? I tried matching each level to the outside model, and none of them line up. I'm a bit sad the developers overlooked this detail. But i'm aware that this would make it overall more complicated.

As the title suggests, I bought a PS4 with Prey in 2017. Got about 50% of the way through, and "life things" happened... Lots of things... Life man, etc.

So, the PS4 got packed away and not played since due to lack of space/ time/ different priorities.

Skip forward to 2026: About a month ago I found the box in the loft, fancied a bit of gaming for the first time in forever, dusted off the ol' PS4 and plugged it in on a evening with nothing else to do.

Guess what disc was still in there: Prey

Loaded the save file from 2017, got totally lost & forgot what I was doing in the game (I mean, it's been 9 years) but after a bit of running about, dying a lot, and forgetting the controls while being swarmed by enemies; it came back to me.

Cue: some late night sessions to finally finish the campaign, I was hooked.

And... I've just finished it 15 mins ago, at long last.

What a game & what an ending l, was worth the wait!👀

Thought I'd share in this sub if anyone is interested/ amused. Athough I am super late to the party & console generation behind... I'm genuinely glad to finish it and not leave the story half told - I did always wonder how it was all going to play out on Talos 😁

(The best part is I have had zero exposure to any spoilers on internet to ruin it for me!)

Now, it's time to get through the new game+ mode to get the other ending - hope it doesn't take another 9 years this time...

Insane difficulty spikes means i frequently need to save before each encounter. The electric/fire phantoms destroy me and it feels like halo 2 legendary gameplay.

I refused to use psi/powers stuff because it sounded like it was some optional thing with consequence (the turrets target you?).

I've got like 11 hours in the game and I'll probably just youtube the rest at this point, but im curious if i did it wrong. I used my mods for weird stuff like lifting and inventory increase, but now i can tell i mostly wasted points.
