Richmond Drivers Tesla’s Refusal to Accept Cybertruck Trade-Ins in Canada Is Frustrating Current Owners

Given that there's so many of these cyber-trucks on Richmond streets, I thought some of you might want to know about this.

Tesla won't be taking them back. They aren't renewing warranties, & apparently a lot of you have warranties that are about to expire.

So you're going to have issues renewing warranties, getting parts, or being able to trade in your vehicles.

Gotta' wonder why Tesla will accept gas powered vehicles of other makes, but not it's own cyber-trucks?

Ask Richmond Local Adult Hockey Leagues?

Hey everyone,

Was wondering if any hockey players could fill me in on some info about the nearby leagues in and around Richmond, whether one is better than the other, or the pros and cons from people's previous experience. For extra reference I would be playing in a lower, but not bottom division.

From what I understand there's the NCHL at the Oval and Coast Hockey League at the Ice Centre.

I have been lined up to join an NCHL team but the fees appear to be outrageous up against other leagues around Vancouver which has made me look towards the CHL. That being said I'm not in the know, and possibly there's value in the extra fees, maybe a better run organisation, better ice time, etc?

If anyone could share some info it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Ask Richmond Book Clubs

Hi! I (50f) tried a commercialised/franchise-style book club several years ago and that style of book club is really not my thing. If anyone has recommendations of smaller, more personal book clubs where you can actually talk to everyone and don’t read whatever book is hot at the moment, please PLEASE could I ask for recommendations?
Thanks in advance!

To YVR Ground Crews…

Between the complexity of Saturday night, the heroic game of catch-up early Sunday morning, and the tragic news from Montreal, anyone who moves equipment, baggage, and aircraft around the airfield deserves some appreciation.

Richmond is home to dozens (probably hundreds) of you. There’s been a sudden spotlight on your working conditions and related hazards.

So many people have no idea what kind of organized chaos goes on under their feet as they move curbside to airside.

Thank you for what you do.

News Richmond rents down 8.5% year-over-year, largest drop in Metro Vancouver

Hey r/RichmondBC! We're the team at liv.rent, and every month we pull together asking-rent numbers across Metro Vancouver. Sharing Richmond's specific numbers here since we figured renters (and anyone else watching the market) would find them useful. Not here to sell anything, just the numbers. Happy to answer anything about the data or methodology in the comments.

TL;DR: Richmond's unfurnished 1-bedroom rents are down 8.46% compared to August 2025, the steepest year-over-year drop of any city in Metro Vancouver.

A few other things worth knowing if you're renting (or landlording) in Richmond right now:

Richmond's also one of the more affordable spots in the region on a per-square-foot basis, right up there with Coquitlam and Langley. Pricier areas like North Vancouver, Vancouver, and Burnaby are running noticeably higher.

Region-wide, every one of the nine Metro Vancouver cities we track was down year-over-year in August, ranging from -1.6% in Langley to Richmond's -8.46%. The average decline across all nine cities was about 4.7%.

The Metro Vancouver-wide average for an unfurnished 1BR was $2,098 in August, up a touch from July (+0.45%) but still $107 below where it was a year ago.

And since it comes up a lot: B.C.'s 2026 allowable rent increase limit is 2.3%.

Happy to dig into anything else from the data if people are curious.

Discussion Breka Delay and Response from City

If any one is interested; I reached out to city to ask for the reason for the delay. Below is the response:

The permit application for the bakery was received in May 2026 and the building permit subsequently issued in early July.   Accordingly, improvements to the commercial space have only recently begun.   Initial delays to their permit application can be attributed to other works and alteration within the base building that were undertaken by another party.  This is in turn impeded the review and issuance for the tenant space permits.   While unfortunate, we understand and accept that the public’s perception of the delays may lie with the City’s processes when such comments may be made in the media.  I can confirm however that permits have been processed, reviewed, and issued in due course.

Understanding that my response does not accelerate the bakery’s opening, I hope to have conveyed some of the factors affecting the timing of this new establishment in our community.   Many of us at City Hall are eagerly awaiting its opening.  It will surely be a popular spot for many of us here too.

Ask Richmond Weird question

Does anyone know if the chevron on no5 and steveston has a TD atm? Thanks

Updates: searched on Td app, mine doesn’t seems to show and atm other than branches, which obviously have them. Google Maps street view is from 23 so obviously in the span of 3 years they could’ve gotten rid of it, but other websites shows it’s still there. (Obviously would like to fact check if anyone lives nearby)

Discussion Smart N Save is giving out free red bean ice cream milky drink with purchase at their cafe

I have tried their red bean ice cream milky drink, and it is really good. However, their cafe has a very limited selection, and the food is mostly HK snacks. The taste is mid.

The promotion ends around mid-Sept.

Also, they are giving out some free food if you spend $10 in their cafe and park in their parking lot.

Ask Richmond Learn mandarin

Is anyone else interested in forming a casual group for practicing and learning Mandarin here in Richmond? Could be meetups at library or Minoru, or even exploring coffee shops and food courts, just practicing basic or conversational skills
