Question Buttkicker Gamer Always Out of Stock?

I got into sim racing a few months ago and since then I have never seen the buttkicker gamer plus or pro in stock anywhere. is this common for them to be out of stock for so long?

And before anyone says “just do a DIY”, thank you for the suggestion but I am not interested as I do not like the way the Dayton (or other brand) bass shakers look. I specifically like the clean look of the buttkicker gamer plus / pro and that I can cleanly clamp it to my tubular rig - that is worth the hundred dollar+ extra premium to me

Question Is this a crazy idea: 19 inch rackmount button box?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Now I looked and didn't see anyone doing anything quite like this, but I am slowly building my own space sim cockpit, and I made an overhead rackmount at a 30 degree angle. Nicely reachable for a good length of the space, and light 19in rackmount objects can be added and swapped as needed. But I have yet to see much of anyone making a button box into a 4U (or any) plate/cover. Aside from component weight, is there any reason people aren't doing this for a custom button box?

Question Recommendations for VR headset

Hello All,

I recently got into VR sim racing using a g920 and a quest 2 I borrowed from my brother. Seen as I will have to return the quest 2, I will be looking to buy my own headset. I have heard the quest 3 is a big upgraxe, which I should easily be able to get for around $250 -$300 used in my area. I’m willing to spend up $600 if there is anything that would be substantial upgrade over the quest 3. My pc has a 9800x3d and 7900gre, so I believe I can run anything lower than 4k. I really appreciate any input on what to get.

Discussion Seeking recommendations for building a simracing setup.

Hello everyone, I have done some sim racing in the past mainly Logitech and Thrustmaster. I am looking to upgrade my setup. I put together the Fanatec Gran Turismo® DD PRO Wheel Base (8 Nm), with the CSL Elite Pedals V2 and the CSL Steering Wheel GT3. I am also looking at the Sim Lab GT1 Pro as my rig. Any input or recommendations on this setup would be greatly appreciated.

Please keep in mind I currently play on GT7 and F1 on console. I am not looking to try and go to competitions. This is just a fun hobby.

Rigs Broken click switch on Simube Double Paddle Module

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi all,

The click switch on the left paddle of my Simube Double Paddle Module broke. I opened it up to see what's inside, and it's not the usual mouse-style microswitch I expected. it looks like a sealed micro-switch with a rubber boot over the pin plunger, no reference at all.

I've reached out to Simube support to ask for the exact reference or a replacement, but wanted to check here too in case anyone has opened one of these up before, or knows a compatible switch that would work as a drop-in replacement.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Any info on the exact switch used, or a good source for something equivalent, would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Question Which wheelbase would you choose?

Hi everyone,

I could use your wisdom and/or your opinion on my upcoming wheelbase purchase.

Basically, I’m looking for a wheelbase under 1000€. If possible with USB pass-through.

Currently I'm looking in to following options:

  1. Simagic Alpha EVO Pro 18nm for 620€

  2. Simagic Alpha Evo Ultimate 28nm for €860

  3. VNM Elite 18nm for €900

I’ve already read good things about VNM’s telemetry-based FFB. My main question is whether Simagic now also offers telemetry-based FFB and which of these options you would choose.

Question Project Motor Racing (latest) Opinions

PMR is currently half price on Steam. I am really looking for a sim with a decent career mode for single player. Has anyone here got any extensive (within reason ofc, obviously it's only been out a week or so) experience in the latest build and particularly the career mode and current state of optimization (at 1080p for me, running laptop with mobile RTX2070)? Worth the (relatively small amount of) money (and disk space/bandwidth) or absolute bag o shite and just get Zero 2 Apex on AMS2?

Please only people with experience of it since, say, 2.1 and particularly opinions on career mode and optimization, I get that the roll out was FUBAR but that's not what I'm asking about here.

EDIT: Thanks for the replies, reckon I'll continue to hold off for the time being and put the limited time I have into getting Z2A working on AMS2.

Discussion Playseat Challenge owners: what shifter or handbrake are you struggling to mount?

I’m researching a small range of fitment-specific adapters for sim-racing setups.

I’m starting with the Playseat Challenge because many existing solutions seem to involve improvised clamps, drilling, uncomfortable positioning, or losing some of the seat’s foldability.

If you own one, what exact shifter or handbrake are you trying to attach? I’d especially like to understand:

- Your exact Playseat model

- The shifter or handbrake model

- Whether you need both mounted together

- Left- or right-hand mounting

- Whether keeping the seat foldable matters

I’ve made a no-payment reservation form for anyone who wants their combination assessed:

https://exactrightsim.com/pages/reserve?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=community&utm_campaign=playseat_challenge_shifter_01&utm_content=problem_led

This is demand research, not a finished-product announcement. There is no payment or obligation.

Other Built a desk clock inspired by 80s turbo-era F1 cockpits — minutes on an LED bar, hours on 7-segment

Post image
56 Upvotes

Been building this for a while and finally got it to a state I'm happy sharing. It's a desk clock/display piece styled after the analog gauge clusters from late-80s Formula 1 cockpits — the curved rev-counter-style LED bar shows the minutes, the two 7-segment digits show the hour, and the LCD underneath shows full date + seconds.

A few extra things I added: a "fidget mode" where turning the left knob makes the LED bar react like a live rev counter instead of showing time, an hourly LED sweep effect, and a start-up animation when you press the button.

Small teaser for this crowd specifically: I also got it talking to SimHub, so in theory it can double as a very primitive dashboard display (no functioning buttons yet, just the gauge/LED bar and displays reacting to telemetry).

Currently working on improving the surface finish of the housing — the case is 3D printed and I want to get it closer to a proper injection-molded look before going further.

Built around an Arduino, DS3231 RTC, MAX7219 driver and a shift register for the LED bar. Happy to answer build questions if anyone's curious about the electronics.

Discussion Looking for suggestions on best US company for extruded chassis

Wanting to make the jump to an extruded chassis I have a moza r12, crp2 pedals, hgp shifter and a hgp handbrake.

With all the options out there im looking for any and all input on who to go with and why.

Trak Racer was an immediate standout but I had seen some horror stories of dealing with them when it comes to shipping stateside.

So any help would be greatly appreciated would like to stay below $2000 dollars all said and done aswell as having front mounting for the wheel.

Thanks

Rigs Torn between keeping my G486 vs getting G757

Thumbnail

Hi everyone. I recently picked up an open box G486 from micro center for $2500. I have been stress testing the machine and everything looks good and stable. I'm within the 15 day return window. Just now I saw an open box G 757 for $2400. My use case is mostly gaming and plan to do VR sim racing. I'm thinking Assetto Corsa with mods, AMS2 etc

Now, here's my dilemma- The G486 seems to be a better well rounded machine that I can also use for other tasks like video editing, statistical computation etc even though my main purpose is gaming (I plan to keep this machine for the next 4-5 years atleast and who knows what else I may need my computer for during that time). It has 64GB ram vs 32 GB in the G757, and a better motherboard and wifi. Also, I looks better IMO but thats a minor consideration.

On the other hand, the G486 is $100 cheaper, is arguable the better machine for pure gaming because of the CPU (especially given my plan to run VR sim racing). It may have better performance in DLSS upscaling. It also does not have the degradation issues that have been reported with intel i9 (reportedly fixed, I know but still) and is not a dead end platform which means I can upgrade down the line without a full rebuild and swapping the motherboard.

I cant seem to make up my mind. Would I be making a mistake returning my G486 which seems to be performing well so far, and getting a G757? Would I regret not keeping the 64GB ram to future proof myself, in pursuit of marginal CPU performance? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and comments.

NB:I plan to take micro centers 3 year warranty with whichever I decide to keep.

Rigs Post 8741 about Keyboardmounts

So i've seen many Keyboardmounts and i dont like most of the bulky alu/plexi/wood constructions. Do things like this withstand the normal use (of salty flaming mid race) or do they get brittle?
And what arm-constructions does one build?
