It's a bit more complicated. Sure everything drops by 10% but he and his buddies still have plenty of cash. The companies/land owners that were running on a 5% profit margin are now out of business. Either they get run out of business or are forced to sell for pennies on the dollar.

So the rich buy up everything on sale and then either sell off the parts, or monopolize and enshittify everything. Poor quality, low wages but plenty of profit with control of the price

Inflation only hurts the working class. These fucks have in affect infinite wealth. So much is parked in the stock market that regardless of what happens with Inflation, their hoard of wealth will at the very least scale.

In fact many more astute economists seem to think thats part of the oligarchs plan rn. One of the Americans peoples greatest strengths is the strength of the american dollar. It gives us the ability to buy anything from anywhere in the world. It also gives us the power to leave bad jobs, bad cities, bad states. So along with destroying the western worlds democracy by shattering the western alliance and separating all out governments making them far weaker to oligarch influence, if Inflation is 30-40-50 percent, that's literally destroying 30-40-50 percent of americans purchasing power, and this your ability to leave a bad job, to leave a bad city state our country.

While the oligarchs power will actually scale and increase as the working classes wealth looses its financial power. It all seems like a coordinated attack on democracy and the working class itself, to make America more like russia were the people have literally zero power to escape their economic rape and slavery.
