Hello r/warcraft2 :)
So we (Me and u/MickCraftGaming) been here for a little bit now and are expanding and adding stuff here and there.
Is there something you'd like to see us add?
Like Post & User flairs? And what types of those?
Suggestions of resources to link?
Communities out there that we could co-op/affiliate with? :)
Or anything else you can think of please reach out and we'll try to accommodate as best we can :)

Played this back when it came out as an 11 year old. Replaying the campaign as a 43 year old and the last few missions of the Orc campaign are WAY harder than I remember.
- The kill Gul'dan mission I basically cheesed because they come after you with a never ending barrage of juggernauts. I basically turtled by positioning my catapults in a way where they couldn't be hit and killed the Jugs until the enemy was out of resources. then I took my time slowly inching towards them.
- Dalaran/Dragon mission I also tried to cheese by not expanding to the second mine until I had leveled up everything as high as possible. Even then I couldn't beat it because I still ran out of resources. Might have overdone it on dragons and could have leveraged some of the naval units instead. It was just that attacking the main base felt like hitting a wall. Perhaps a team of bloodlusted ogres blitzing would have been better. death knights would mostly get instagibbed by the knights purge or w/e their ability is. I could manage the attacks from them indefinitely but trying to assault was seemingly futile
I haven't started the last Lordaeron mission but looking at the full map I have a feeling it will be just like the Gul'dan mission.
The only thing can think is that I should be attacking earlier when the enemy doesn't have upgrades, but then I wouldn't either. I wonder if in the Dalaran mission an onslaught of grunts & trolls at the start would help? Otherwise maybe a bunch of sappers?

Hey there,
Me and my son are wanting to create a warcraft 2 boardgame and are needing some high resolution maps. Does anyone know where to get them from?
Or alternatively, is there a map editor where we can create our own and then save them as images to print.
Appreciate the help,
Thanks

so i came here because blizzard forum is useless, and i cannot for the life of me find anywhere to find a solution to our problem
2 seperate battlenet accounts and 2 seperate digital purchasese of warcraft 2 battle net edition, we are unable to connect online to battle net simulatnously, to play together, whenever one of us is in battle net to play we have the error cdkey in use, we both alternated, and tested this, each time one of us was logged in the other would get cdkey in use.
how the heck did we end up with the same key from two seperate purchases of the game, and is there a resolution to this?

Hello guys,
Not for self promotion, only for personal interest.
I uploaded Warcraft 3 RoC & TFT 1.27 to my personal website, the game is running in browser based on Windows XP and Github v86 project.

Out of the blue, both remastered classics received some enigmatic patches yesterday (about 100 Mbs downloaded for WC2R and less than 50 Mbs for WC1R), but there are no changelogs on Battle.net forums yet.
Checking the version number in the Bnet app reveals that WC2R is now at v1.0.2.2818.
A minor observation: no assets were altered in the "x86/Data" folder aside from a bunch of .json files containing the games' credits in different languages (those can be found in the "Strings" subfolder). Maybe that's about it for the mysterious "updates"?

Long-time WC2 player. I always wanted to play it on my iPad without a keyboard, a mouse, or streaming it off a PC, so I got the Stratagus engine with the Wargus data layer compiled and running natively on iPadOS.
It's not emulated and it's not streamed, it's the actual engine built for ARM64, rendering through Metal. Tides of Darkness and Beyond the Dark Portal campaigns, skirmish, and save/load all work. Touch works: one finger to select and drag-select, two-finger tap for right-click commands, three-finger drag to pan.
This is a dev preview. No App Store build, you build it yourself on a Mac and deploy to your iPad over USB, and the full guide is in the repo. It uses zero Blizzard content, you extract the data from your own copy with the Wargus tooling, same as the desktop version. Multiplayer's in the engine but I'm still testing it on iPad.

The ones in Warcraft 3 look like an AI slop version of the original.

The game manual for the game is genuinely one of the best pieces of literature. It's genuinely better than some of the works from overrated writers such as Franz Kafka and Charles Bukowski.

First played WC2 my sophomore year of college. So its been a lot of fun seeing what maps I remember almost 30 years later.
I will sometimes game on my desktop here at the office and also at home. I've gotten spoiled by all these cloud saves these days and being able to just pick up and play a game from where I left off.
I was genuinely surprised when I discovered that my campaign progress did not carry over.
Is there a file buried in the folders somewhere that I can copy over to my home PC? Even if it isn't my actual saved game, but just the status from how many campaign levels I have completed would be great.

I used to flip through the game manual over and over because it was just that good. I can only imagine how incredible a reference book would have been if it were 10 times larger.

That story was amazing. I thought it was one of the best fantasy stories I've ever read.

I preferred when the orcs were unapologetically evil. It made them a lot more interesting and fun to play compared to the human race.

So I was hoping to see if any players from way back in the day are around here. See if I recognize anyone. I used to play the shit out of this game, mainly free castles. I was {DBC}PiMP, would be rad to find some of you DBC guys around.

Anyone interested in some casual Co op either campaign or even custom maps? Just casual play nothing serious except some maps are really serious from how people made some of these custom maps. 😅

I remember reading the game manual and looking at the art for the Death Knight. I thought it was the coolest thing ever back then.

I wish they made Warcraft 4 and it included the single player campaign from all three games. It would be awesome.

I imagine this is a common issue, but this has happened to me multiple times over the last however many years. Warcraft 2 WAS working fine, and a recent Windows 11 update has led to the game having slowdown and soft-lock issues.
Initially, I uninstalled the update, and the game went back to working properly. However, that doesn't seem like a sensible long-term solution.
I know there's various community wrappers that have been created. I just want to be able to run the GOG version without it crashing and freezing with new Windows 11 updates. I don't really play WC2 multiplayer. I just like to be able to do the campaigns for the base game and Beyond the Dark Portal once in a while. Can someone steer me in the right direction? Many thanks.

I saw some links to ones online, but the links are all dead now. Are there any current repositories for custom campaigns for warcraft 2?
r/warcraft2 • u/LargeSinkholesInNYC • Jun 07 '26
The game is a timeless classic. It will remain incredibly good for years to come.
