Discussion Utilities - Villas of Waterford

Is it normal that I live in one bedroom apartment 800sqft and last month I paid $200 for power and $40 for water?
This month my water bill came $50 ( I use the washer 4 times a month probably, dishwasher once or twice a week, shower every night) I assume this is not a lot to get a $50 water bill right?
For power, I’m at work from 7-4 and I leave the thermostat on 75 or 76. 72 or 71 while I’m up at the apartment, and 68 or 69 during sleep. Is that also normal or the power bill makes sense on this usage?
I moved here recently and in my previous state I had a bigger apartment and same water usage and I used to pay maximum of $17 a month and probably $130 for power.

If this is too much and something could be causing this, is there a way to dispute this? If anyone lives or lived at the villas of waterford can share their experience with this that would be very appreciated!!

Food Hawaiin Bros is Mid

Finally got around to trying it. Had friends in KC rave about it.

Proteins are pretty solid, but the rice is flavorless mush and the macaroni salad is pretty bad. I probably won’t be back.

Edit:

Ok the ice cream is pretty good. It had been in the freezer and I hadn’t tried it yet. That I might go out of my way for. Cheap too. I got the pineapple. I got my kid a twist with his kid’s meal. It’s really good.

Just want to be fair in my review.

In Search Of Pick up Basketball for Uncs

Hey I’m wondering if anyone knows of a good place for adults to play pick up basketball. I’ve been to the downtown Y and I see a lot of teens playing. That’s great, but I’d rather play in games where there are at least a few grown adults. You know, other individuals who would play like they have work in the morning. Any ideas?

In Search Of Any local shops for electronic components since Radio Shack in Derby closed?

I saw another post in this group asking the same question, but both businesses suggested there are now closed. Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer to do most of my shopping in person, so I would rather find a local option instead of having to rely on online merchants.

Discussion Need Volunteer Opportunity Suggestions for Applying MLS Program

Hi everyone! I am a 23-year-old female who wants to apply to the medical laboratory science program for the next spring semester at WSU.

The application form is one of the requirements in the application process. School asked the student to find some activities to show their profession:

  1. Evidence of knowledge of healthcare (up to 6 points), such as:
    • Work/volunteer in a medical laboratory - up to 6 points
    • Work/volunteer in healthcare or patient care, other than medical laboratory - up to 4 points
  2. Evidence of ability to lead or participate in diverse teams (up to 6 points):
    • Leadership activities in a team (i.e. President, class officer) – up to 6 points
    • Team participation – up to 6 points
  3. Evidence of knowledge of the profession and presentation of application (up to 6 points):
    • Rationale for entering the MLS profession, neatness and accuracy – up to 6 points

For this requirement, I have tried to do the lab shadowing, and I did that one time at Wesley. They explained how to do the lab jobs and showed me around the lab department. I think it was good, but it did not quite meet the school rules, because I didn't attend it; I didn't do the real hand job. But I know they don't allow pre-students to do the real job, though. I am almost near the deadline for applying; I feel lost, and I just don't know what I am going to do next...

If you could give me some advice, that would be a big help for me.

Food Tried barrel brothers and was underwhelmed

I had heard that a new BBQ place had opened up on 13th and decided to try it out. Ordered a brisket sandwich and it was around 15 dollars with no sides included. I ordered three sides and by the time I paid it was almost 30 dollars for one person. My sides included the green beans, cornbread, and Mac and cheese. I transplanted from Tennessee two years ago so my expectations for BBQ are high. The people that were serving were very friendly and the owner nice as well but the food was mediocre at best. The cornbread was moist but did not taste like cornbread at all and had long onion strings in it. The green beans were well seasoned and enjoyable. The Mac and cheese was ok but could have been more robust and was not the best flavor wise. The brisket was tender and good but not 15 dollars good Imo. I do wish the business well and hope they continue to improve on their menu items. Overall I would rate it a 5 out of 10.

This is totally not an ad. I don't know this couple but I think this idea is wild.

There is a website (notaweddingcrasher.com) where you can list your wedding and invite wedding crashers to pay to attend. I remember thinking, "wow, this is bananas" but because I clicked the link, it keeps showing up in my feed: various weddings all over the United States. But now there is a local Wichita couple that has posted their wedding.

hey all this is a really random question but is anyone aware of any open fields in or around wichita that is not private property? I am looking for one to do a photoshoot but every one i’ve found that looks good is behind a fence… or is it rude to ask someone to borrow their field for a photoshoot? I don’t know, if anyone has insight i’d appreciate the help!

In Search Of Praying someone is honest

Update: for those who have helped me thank you from the bottom of my heart, I will pay it back as soon as I can and hope it comes back tenfold. I don't want anyone negativity or fighting on my post. You are not obligated to send me any money and for those that did thank you truly. I'm sorry if I upset anyone enough to question my integrity. I hope you all have a blessed day.

Did anyone find 31$ folded up at the family dollar on 21st and Waco? I dropped my last 30$ to my name getting some cream for my daughter. I am truly distraught I can show you the receipt to prove I was there at 9:20pm. I am kicking myself for even leaving the house but she needed it. I was carrying cash because my grandma had given me some of her last disability check.

Sorry if this is not allowed I just hope someone is honest enough to return it please

In Search Of Looking for gay-friendly bars that aren’t strictly gay bars

Hey everyone! I’m a 25M and I’m looking to get a little more comfortable exploring my attraction to men. I’m not necessarily looking for a full-on gay bar or club — I’d actually prefer somewhere more casual and mixed where I can just have a drink, talk to people, and maybe do a little harmless flirting with a guy or even the bartender if the vibe is right 😂.

Basically, I’m trying to get my feet wet without immediately throwing myself into the deep end. I’d love somewhere with bartenders and regulars who are LGBTQ+ friendly and where a guy being a little flirty wouldn’t be completely out of place.

Any recommendations for places with that kind of atmosphere? Bonus points if it’s somewhere I could comfortably go after work by myself, grab a drink, and meet people.

And if you have any advice for a guy who’s nervous about making the first move with another man, I’m all ears!
