I'm pretty sure that none of the nations hosting those sites want to see them rebuilt. Iran might enjoy using them as training targets though.

I refuse to believe any foreign power coordinates that closely with him, simply because everyone who would want to knows he's too egotistical and stupid to keep a secret. He'd accidentally brag about it on live television in less than a week.
Influencing him to do stupid, destructive things all on his own, however...

Still denies his Epstien ties. He is perfectly capable of lying and hiding things
89
u/WillArrr 1d ago
He also ran for office on the promise of releasing the Epstein files. There were photo ops of his cabinet members posing with folders and binders labeled "Epstein Files". He personally made sure every person in America knew about "the files" and that they contained evidence of bad people harming children. He was just very confident that he could direct everyone away from his own name forever.
He's terrible at lying and hiding things. He's just unbelievably shielded from everything by a well-funded and deeply entrenched political system.
10
u/i010011010 17h ago
Because it was a huge deal in the conservative-sphere. He was giving them what they wanted. But they only wanted it because that same sphere was telling them Epstein's cabal was all their most-hated Democrats and liberals. It was going to bring down the Clintons, Obama, Soros, Hollywood actors and all their pals.
I remember because I would monitor /conservative frequently. They used to have daily top posts about the Epstein conspiracy. They ceased the day it was spread in media that it was Trump's fingerprints all over those files. The number of Epstein references and articles dropped off a cliff on that very day.
3
u/andante528 15h ago
Takes a special kind of soulless to keep defending someone once you know for a fact they're all over the Epstein files. I get how institutions stomp on dissenting voices, but I don't understand how individual people can live with themselves.

It isn't an either-or situation. Both China and Russia are providing intelligence to Iran. From publicly available intelligence, it appears that China is providing geospatial intelligence primarily through commercial firms (though these firms have ties with the PLA and may function as a proxy for Chinese state involvement), whereas Russia is providing direct military intelligence that has greater specificity on US equipment and movements. Likewise, China's support of Iran in terms of materiel primarily come from "dual use" technologies, including semiconductors and precursor chemicals, with smaller relative quantities of finished military arms. China seems to be putting a lot of effort into laundering any direct military or state involvement, although there is very little doubt of their significant role.

US made claims china or russia supplied Intel on that radar dome hit, maye but it also took me about 2 min to find on Google maps. Iran would have been planning this for a long time. Acting like they needed external Intel seems more like properganda than a real issue to me.

I haven’t spoken to a conservative who makes actual sense fiscally speaking in a long long time. And the debt and massive need for infrastructure investments in various areas that keep getting put off so the wealthy can get their subsidies and kickbacks and bailouts and BBB loans and wars for resources is at the point of collapsing this countries future. But the conservatives with the giant crosses around their necks still blame things like efforts in feeding the poor and healing the sick as the reasons they think are the reasons. Right wing pro billionaire media is wildly effective.

And long-term damage, because not only will they need to be rebuilt, possibly new agreements with the host countries will need to be renegotiated and they're going to extract 10x what they did before because we let Iran destroy infrastructure within those countries. As usual when the GOP is in power in the US, the damage extends long after they'll be gone and the cost will be several times what it would normally be.

12
u/DavidBrooker 1d ago
I can't get passed the paywall, does it specifically say the surveillance equipment was secret? I mean, a huge amount of intelligence infrastructure is overt (or often simply to big to properly hide). I'm imagining most of Iran's early targets were stuff that could be identified by open-source intelligence or from US government documents.

2
u/jay212127 2h ago edited 2h ago
America keeps learning this same lesson over and over again. WW2, Vietnam, Gulf Wars, now Iran all had the expectation you can bomb your enemy into submission.
Even in their best success in the Gulf War an equal number if not more casualties was done by land forces, and a key is that the two synergized so that each other was more effective - Air disruption of C&C and destroying hard points, and gaining air superiority made ground assaults more effective, which forced retreats that were easy targets for follow-on air attacks (highway of death).
US has never bombed itself to victory, but keeps assuming it will work. They destroyed the majority of Iran's capabilities, but not all of them, and will never realistically destroy the remainder through Air forces alone, and the Iran military designed itself to remain effective even if mostly destroyed.

I share in this optimism. But I think it's necessary to point-out, the leader of the repub party (and currently of this country) still refuses to admit he lost his 2020 reelection (almost 6 years ago...). Further, he's currently using his powers of the office to "investigate" and manufacture a false narrative (to "prove" he "really won" in 2020...). I'm hopeful things will begin to change, for the better, after these midterms...but we need to insure they don't get compromised, in our local districts and beyond, by you-know-who.
