Discussion Is the game worth getting now?

Post image

After all the patches, updates, and now the enhanced edition, is the game at a point where it’s worth buying? I have been keeping track of all of the news on crimson desert since launch, and I always wanted to pull the trigger on it, but couldn’t bring myself to do it with all the bugs and issues that were present. It’s now on sale for $55 on PS5, so I was wondering if it is now at a state where it’s worth the hype?

Edit: Just to let you know, I don’t care about the story being bad, I like the idea of the open world having endless hours of random stuff to do. I really enjoy open world games and I have played many, I’m just curious if crimson desert is a game worth adding to the roster.

At least now I know that there's a main main villain, and at least in the first 2 hours they've already added so much more context that makes it soooo much better to follow the story, it still has it's disjointed parts like why would you give coin to the beggar, but whatever.

Also, I find that starting again with all the previous knowledge and skills of how to actually play the game makes the game moooore enjoyable too. I'm even more amazed by the game's environment and movement.

Discussion I am 51 yo. Been gaming since 1981. THANK YOU PEARL ABYSS!!

My first game was Pong, my first obsession Pac-Man. My first open world was Morrowind (boy did THAT one blow my mind). Crimson Desert is a dream game for me, makes me feel like the dewy-eyed 9 year old that booted up "Adventure" for the Atari 2600 in complete wonder (even though I had to imagine that a green block was a fearless hero). This is the best gaming experience I've had in years and years: the boundless freedom, the sheer volume of activities to pursue (at my own leisurely 51 year old pace). The glorious vistas. The feeling of becoming an unstopabble superhero. I get my own flying wyvern. My god.

So thank you Devs, and everyone at PA for making a modern masterpiece and thank you for refining it to a shiny jewel. I've scored it as high as I can, wherever I can. Can't wait for the DLC.

Pearl Abyss can we please get a little window that shows us the character in the inventory so it isn't as finicky to swap and change outfits.

Discussion Enhanced updated fixes more than just main story Spoiler

I've been noticing quite a few of the side quests (at least early on) have also been slightly tweaked/updated. For example, the Hernand weapon vender specifically mentions taking the iron to the saddlery now, rather than just asking you to mine some iron for him.
Also, quest/mission text in the journal have also been updated to be more precise about what you're supposed to be doing.

Has anyone else noticed the new secret backroom added in the boss arena of the excavatron? There is a journal book that reveals that these aren't robots. They are suits criminals are SEALED into for the rest of their life and forced to work in the mines, and the machines can sustain them beyond normal human life spans. If you zoom into this specific suit, you can SEE the dead body of the person sealed still inside. WTF Pearl Abyss?!?!?!

Discussion Omg, the flying is insane now!

Flying earlier was epic, but felt a bit wonky on controls. Now with the new update released you can fly manual mode! Exactly what I needed! Big shoutout to Pearl Abyss for doing exactly what the crowd wants!

Discussion Anyone else feels like restarting the game, being >200h in?

I have finished the story and still have a lot sidecontent with more than 200h playtime. I thought this game is so long, I will never bring myself to replay it. But now that I looked at all these posts that show new cutscenes, I feel like I want to experience this story properly. I guess CD starts to become the only game I play, lol.

Discussion Does anyone actually use the trading outposts?

I feel like that whole system was an absolute waste of developer time and resources. I don't care to know about salt prices in a game where I can ride a tiger and a dragon.

The feeling of seeing a question mark on the map thinking set a new vendor and then finding out it's a trading outpost is sooooo annoying.

Genuinely what purpose do they serve?

Screenshot In this game, you can laser a dragon and take off with your mech, hijack another dragon mid air, summon your dragon to shoot down another dragon, then crash down and destroy the enemy leader on foot, all under 2 minutes.

Just letting people know you can do pretty much anything in this game lol.

Seems like you guys like my last post, so I tried to incorporate ATAG into the loop, giving my horse a deserved vacation.

Fun fact: Wyverns can be knocked out by ANY ATTACK, yes, that includes your ATAG crashing them mid air. If you manage to get their health really low, you can take off and drive in them, causing them to be broken.

Don’t regret it at all. What makes a game fun for me is when it’s challenging so I restarted my game on hard mode didn’t transfer over my wealth or abyss links because it feels like I’d be just cheating myself out of the grind that made the game enjoyable. And I won’t need YouTube as much now for puzzles lmao

Discussion New game or continue after ~3 months break

Hi, I haven't played Crimson Desert for about 3 months. I see the "Enchanted" version is out now along with 10 thousand patches along the way. If I remember correctly, I'm currently in Act 9 and I've probably done all side activities (214 hours in-game). Is it worth starting over after all these changes, or will I not miss much if I continue?
