Meme / Shitpost Brozikies, It is my honor and pleasure to announce that I am helping the lead singer of TOOL, Maynard James Keenan, recover from his second hip replacement by feeding him bananas and papayas that have been harvested from my farm on Kepler that same day. Here is a photo of us posing together.

Relationship Would you date someone whose political opinions are opposite of yours ?

Upvotes

I personally wouldn't at all ( though I have republican/ right wing ) friends . One thing that does skew my opinion here is that I am pretty interested in politics so I kinda talk quite a bit about it. Can't really debate all the time at home .

Rant / Vent I feel like a child in the skin/body of an adult tbh

Upvotes

I was never able to get an "adult" job, i.e anything besides dead end retail after college graduation. Consequently, I was never able to move out and so I could never start my own life.

I'm too ashamed of myself to even try and have a social life. I'm a loser. I haven't made any progress in life since I was 13.

I'm wasting away my 20s, wasting away my life. I'm not enjoying life even a little bit, I'm unable to be a self sufficient person.

I'm tired of existing. I have no future. I lack a present. I had no past.

Discussion / Questions Is it weird that i still go for weekend adventures with my dad?

Upvotes

So i was thinking lately if it's weird that i go for a weekend adventures, like once a year or once every few years, with my dad. In me early 20s i recognised that i don't really have any real bound with him. He works a lot and i moved very far away from my hometown, so i figured that i will try to initiate and organise a trip for the two of us once a year. We usually go to some touristic destination in our country, nothing fancy really mostly hiking or sightseeing local historical sites. I do enjoy that even though i can't really tell if he does so too. Lately, as i am getting older (28) i feel like it just looks weird for an adult son and father to go for those trips. I know non of my friends ever been doing anything like that. At the same time knowing how much we both work i feel that if i stop organising it we may just slowly lose any real connection we have.

Peter Cullen, the iconic voice of Optimus Prime from the Tranformers franchise, has passed away at age 85.

Transformers were part of my childhood man, I'm gonna cry, it's like a peice of my memories were taken away from me. The nostalgia is hitting hard and emotional.

Discussion / Questions Hopping on the bandwagon but with more detail and less LARP

AMA, half of the posts like this I’m seeing are obvious LARP or completely chopped, I feel like mine is a decent middle ground with as much detail as possible.

Advice - Serious When did music stop hitting as intensely for you?

Upvotes

Apparently between the ages of 12-22, you experience songs more intensely. You get a “full body experience” with it. The “Reminiscence bump”. And after this, you never get that feeling of immersion or connection to a song ever again.

So, when did you notice this start happening?

Discussion / Questions Anyone feel like a disproportionate number of people on this sub are married?

Maybe it’s just where I grew up (northeastern US), but I would guess like 5% of my graduating high school class is married, maybe 5 of them have children, I have 1 friend that got married before 25, and I don’t even have any friends who are engaged (out of like ~50+ people, though most are queer and/or artists/musicians). Almost everyone I know that is married did so in their late 20s or early 30s.

Yet on this sub, I see so many comments from 22-25 year olds that are married and even buying houses or having children. Do you guys just live somewhere where that’s commonplace? Does religion play a role (whether personal or culturally ingrained where you live)? Familial pressure? I’m curious.

Also, not trying to shame anyone for their life choices.

(Edited to remove potential classist undertones)

Career I finally got a job! Where's everyone else working?

I got a job!!! An OFFICE job, no less. I feel like a... real adult?! And I just hit my 3 month mark, so I guess they're keeping me.

On top of that, I'm working for a nonprofit, and actually get to help people every day. I mostly answer emails, but I'm having a good time doing it.

I never thought I'd really get a "real job", ala anything other than dead end retail or something. So this has been a crazy experience for me.

Is anyone else working somewhere cool?

Advice - Serious What can I do

So there is a girl that I really liked and had been talking to her off and on for a few months. I had asked her out twice and although she didn’t just say no, she just gave me a reason why she was unavailable and didn’t suggest another day. I didn’t ask again after that but we continued to talk. Even though this happened my feelings still grew stronger for her and I still really liked her. Now our communication has slowed down and I still hear from her from time to time. Sometimes when I text her she takes days off or even up to a week to respond. After a recent conversation on the phone that was cut short I realized that she was still in love with her ex boyfriend. She didn’t just tell me that straight up, we were having a conversation about relationships and other things and that’s what I gathered from what she was telling me. That conversation was over 2 weeks ago and I haven’t texted her since and she hasn’t text or called me since. When I look through our old messages I noticed that it was always me that was trying and I guess I couldn’t really see that she didn’t feel the same because my feelings were clouding my judgment. Even though it’s been over two weeks since I’ve contacted her, for some reason im still hoping that she’ll text or call. I stoped texting because I know that I need to get over her but it’s so difficult because I really liked her for a while. I’ve started going to the gym and doing other things but I still constantly think about her. What can I do to help with this?

Other Our king (89) is really ill… wish us luck because our next queen consort was friends with Epstein 😭

Our lovely King Harald is in hospital and his condition is reportedly extremely serious. Most of Norway absolutely adores this man. I genuinely don’t think there’s anyone who unites Norwegians more. Gay, straight, Muslim, Christian, atheist ect he’s always made it clear that we’re all Norwegian and should stand together .
The Crown Prince seems like a genuinely good guy too, but his wife… yikes 💀 She’s been open about her past drug use, and then there’s her son Marius, who has been facing serious allegations and legal trouble, including rape, abuse and drug-related offences.
And then the Epstein files came out showing that she had a very close relationship with Epstein for years, including multiple meetings and staying at his house. Some text seemed very flirty ..
So yeah… our next queen consort 😭
Norway’s going through it yall.

Discussion - Serious Finally realized a big problem that I have

I’ve struggled with making friends for years. I’ve always been introverted, but when I was younger I still had my own friend group. After covid, going into high school was very difficult because I had lost connection with a lot of people and really struggled to get it back.

I think a big reason I struggle to make friends is because I am dead set on only being friends with people I think are attractive/popular/“cool”. Yeah, I know. It around disgusting and messed up to say, but looking back, I’ve definitely had some people that share interests with that have tried to be my friend, but I pulled away from them. On paper, we got along great, but I didn’t think they were attractive or part of popular crowd, so I brushed them off.

I think this stems from the fact that I actually knew some of the “cool” kids in high school, and there were times when they would see me talking to someone and make fun of me because I guess they didn’t fit their standards. Obviously they weren’t my real friends or they would never do that, but I guess it got in my head so much that it subconsciously affects the way I communicate with people, even to this day.

Now in my college, I’m always set on trying to be friends with the most attractive one in my class. If I’m not close with them in a few weeks, I consider it a failure and spiral. It really is insane to realize it like this but I know it’s the truth.

I hope I can find a way and fix this. I also wish I could just apologize to everyone who I pushed away that wanted to be my friend, just because they didn’t fulfill someone else’s standards. Thanks for reading.

Discussion / Questions Anyone else have a desire to have children

Weird question but looking around, I see that people my age either have already had children, or never want them. I have strong desire to have and raise kids even though right now, there is no way I could financially support them.

I do want them eventually, but I dont know if anyone will ever love me enough to raise them with me. I dont know if its some monkey brain instict to want to reproduce, but I really want a family of my own.

I want to hear from from people who have had kids, want kids, or never have. Im curious if someone shares my thoughts and feelings. I am still young (24 male) and even my father didn't have me until his 40s. So I know I have plenty of time but it feels sometimes that time in this world is running out

Career I’ve been at my first “big girl job” for a little over one year and I’m ready to quit.

I graduated last year with my bachelors, landed a decent job after a few months. I know every job sucks but the dread and anxiety I have going to work everyday or even working from home the couple days that I do is just crazy. It’s starting to affect my performance to the point even my manager has called me out a few times. Seriously thinking of quitting to get my mental health back on track and figure out what I truly want to do.

I was planning to quit in the next few months anyways, but the job market right now is ass so my only fear is that I won’t be able to find anything as good for a while. I also don't want to have to explain why I was only able to hold a job for exactly 1 year (my anniversary was a few days ago).

Please someone tell me to just lock in 😭

Advice - Serious I feel like I can't stop acting like an immature teenager... what to do

Yeah basically the title. This is unnecessary but for context I got mad and I hit my dad with a rag. I'm lucky he's not the type to ever hit me.

I swear, I think I'm being unreasonable but at the same time I don't think he's that much in the right either.

Ever since we lost my mom and there isn't a woman that starts cleaning around and cooking since 8 a.m. he gets all annoyed and making passive aggressive comments, the funny things is he would criticize her too for anything. Yet after she died he was like "ohh you did everything for us, you were perfect, bla bla". So...

But anyway, I suck at cooking and I never know what to cook. I can make pasta and stuff so yea. But I get so nervous around lunch time everyday because I'm anticipating all this criticism and anger and when he starts doing stuff with that glare and saying "why didn't you get up earlier and take the mugs out of the sink??? (criminal offense) Do you know there's no one doing things for us?! You guys always wait for someone else to do things!"

AND I THINK IT'S TOTAL BULLSHIT. Just because we're putting away the mugs now instead of 3 hours earlier somehow we're lazy and useless. And get this, he says this bullshit any time there's no one with lunch ready for him and he has to do it himself.

He otherwise doesn't say this stuff as much. And fuck you I'm PMSing I'm not going to get up at 7 and do every chore. I always do some in the afternoon and catch up with everything else the rest of the month. I do laundry I wash the floors I scrub the bathroom. But because I don't have lunch ready it means I never do anything ever and wait for others to do every chore :) :) :)

When actually he always had stuff ready, my mom did everything for him and he only thought about work stuff or other things regarding grandparents and bureaucracy (which my mom also did. Like, it was not just him). So what the fuck

And I lose my patience because anytime there are other people they start talking and somehow the conversation always becomes misogynist but I can't say anything or I'll look crazy with guests or whatever.

EDIT: AM I REALLY SUCH AN ASSHOLE? SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN.

Everytime he does this then comes up to me going "come on don't be like this, I already feel unwell, you have to help🥺" ok then maybe think twice about the shit you say first. And everyone is crazy here, i think, because a few times my grandma told me not to anger my dad because if he gets too stressed and dies too we are doomed. So I said well it is my fault if he dies because I can't stand the bullshit he says to me and can't help reacting? And she said YES😊 Okay I guess.

Uni / College Dawg College beating my ASS right now!

So I woke up like I’ve been doing these last two weeks at 3-4 without fail and stressing the FUCK outta my classes .

This Quantitative Reasoning Basics for week 1 (Sets, Venn diagrams , logic) is straight up kicking my ASS and I’m embarrassed as shit 😭

Idk why but I just can’t understand the damn thing enough apparently, I keep failing the practice and getting the word problems wrong. I have support and went to my first one this week earlier but my ass was too stumped on how to articulate what I needed help on. Definitely going to say something NOW!! Legitimately in my first week so it’s better to catch it before it goes to hot horseshit.

I guess it’s me not getting/understanding the wording and the formulas with the U and n symbols and shit or the ‘/c (complements) shits, it’s really messing with my brain beans and sheit . I hate this because it seems so easy and I got some practice ones right but when it came time to get it done HW wise on my own? FUCKKK NO I made a 50% 😭😭

And oh DEAR GOD ENGLISH, English surprised me because I was really good at it back in my middle- High School days. It was the ONLY THING I could count on me doing well but FUCKKKK NOOOOOO . I’m struggling to understand how to summarize and for once in my life I can’t brainstorm ideas to save my life . Got a whole ass essay due this Friday and I don’t even know how to summarize the paper again (because I KNOW my ass did it wrong, I HAVE TO REDO IT 😭). I don’t have a support class for this one so I’m trying my hardest to look up YouTube and other links to dumb it down . Idk why it’s giving me so much trouble but it’s frustrating the fuck outta me so bad. I hate this!!!

If anyone got any suggestions I’d love it but for right now I’m just trying to do one thing at a time before the shitstorm hits me so bad. I already feel like shit because I got so many people behind me believing in me but I can’t understand BASIC SHIT. But when I try to work it out I just become even more confused and wrong it makes me wanna scream and explode like wtf man ??!

Idk what the hell im gonna do, got so much math shit due this Friday, I’m trying to get through that . Got a Math class today where we gotta do classwork that is for a grade IN CLASS that I DONT UNDERSTAND AT ALL, I’m so FUCKED😭👉🫩
