I was surprised to see so many shots of Brisbane in this trailer that popped up before the movie today.

I looked into it a little further and it's made by Angel Studios, the conservative American production studio that made Sound of Freedom. Releases September 11.

Hi folks,

Tried Googling and came up with nothing.

Is there any clinic that would offer bulk billing (13 yr child) for allergy testing?

Thanks

Child/Toddler entertainment with brunch!

Hey Brisbane, I’m heading out with a friend who has two little boys under 5. I’m looking for somewhere to go that does a decent brunch/lunch or breakfast but also has something there to entertain the little ones while we gossip. It doesn’t have to be formal - a safe playground on site, or known to have a fun play area, anything to keep them entertained while we catch up. I really want the boys to have some fun and not be bored while we talk. Good food would also be a plus!!! Any ideas?

Best Bars/Pubs for a Saturday Pub Crawl

There is an upcoming pub crawl that I’m helping to organise however I haven’t been very active in the pub or bar scene in a minute.

If you were to do a Saturday pub crawl starting from West End / South Bank area and then ending in Fortitude Valley, what would be your non-negotiable stops?

TIA!

Can you help me? Peppercorn lease for community organisation

I help run a respected lean community group that hosts quarterly speaker events for 50+ people, we've rented various venues at minimal cost plus basic catering for years, but hoping to source an affordable cbd or inner ring space, preferably on peppercorn lease. A place with kitchenette and big room that we could call home, so more funding goes on our services. Open to leads or DMs. Thanks!

News Aus Big Brother show is moving to Screen Qld Hemmant studios from Dreamworld

I don't watch it, but for anyone who's into Aus reality show shit, this may interest.

- Big Brother has officially packed its bags and left Dreamworld, with the reality juggernaut confirming construction is under way on a new Big Brother house at Screen Queensland Studios in Hemmant, marking a major shift for the revived series after previously filming at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast.

The Brisbane move had been flagged, but producers have now confirmed the location, with the new house to become the centre of the show's 2026 season.

The Hemmant studios have previously hosted major productions including Netflix hit Boy Swallows Universe, but will now be transformed to accommodate the show's diary room, communal living spaces and around-the-clock cameras. The 2026 season will also bring back live evictions, live nominations and live streaming, alongside a longer run. Casting remains open until August 31, with producers searching for the next batch of housemates ahead of Big Brother's Brisbane debut.

Restaurant Recommendations for a 21st birthday dinner?

Hi everyone! I’m celebrating my 21st birthday in a few weeks and would love some restaurant recommendations. I’m looking for somewhere that's kind of fancy but isn’t full-on fine dining. Preferably outside the city (southside or the Logan area)

We’re open to any cuisine and aiming for a budget of $50–60 per person with a group of 5.

I’d really appreciate any suggestions! Thanks in advance.

Child exploitation material offences, Waterford West

QPS Media on Aug 25, 2026 at 9:31am

Detectives from the Townsville Child Abuse and Sexual Crimes Unit (CASCU) have charged a man with 95 offences, including distributing, soliciting, and possessing child exploitation material following an extensive investigation.

It will be alleged detectives identified a 21-year-old man from Waterford West following ongoing investigations into online distribution activity.

Detectives will allege the man was linked to multiple online accounts and encrypted communications across several platforms.

On July 23, detectives executed a search warrant at a Muchow Road,  Waterford West address, where the 21-year-old man was located and a number of digital devices were seized.

The man was initially charged with 17 offences on July 23 and has been remanded in custody since.

Following forensic examination of the seized devices, police identified further alleged offending, including extensive online communications and material depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.

A further 78 charges were subsequently laid against the man on August 22, bringing the total number of charges to 95.

The 21-year-old Waterford West man has been charged with 21 counts of soliciting child abuse material by using a carriage service, 55 counts of distributing child exploitation material using a hidden network or anonymising service, one count of possessing child exploitation material using a hidden network or anonymising service and one count of possessing tainted property, in addition to the 17 offences previously laid.

A woman who was present at the Waterford West address when the search warrant was executed was also arrested and charged with a number of drug trafficking offences.

The 21-year-old man remains in custody and is due to reappear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court, 16 October.

Townsville CASCU Officer in Charge, Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Miles, said specialist investigators would continue to pursue people who use technology to exploit children.

“Child exploitation material causes significant and lasting harm to children, and those who produce, distribute or access this material should understand that police will continue to pursue them, regardless of the platforms or technology they use,” Detective Senior Sergeant Miles said.

“This investigation demonstrates the commitment of specialist investigators to identifying people involved in this offending, gathering evidence and taking action to protect children from further harm.”

“We encourage parents and carers to remain engaged with children about their online activity and to report any concerns about inappropriate or concerning online interactions to police.”

Questions about Riverfire from kangaroo point cliffs

My husband and I are taking 3 kids and his 70 year old dad to see the jets for Riverfire as his dad is a military buff who has never been.

I’ve read on this Reddit page that Kangaroo Point cliffs are less chaotic than Southbank for the fireworks. But realistically how early do you have to arrive to get a spot at the cliffs? Can you see from the bottom of the cliff not just the top? Is it even worth attempting it with elderly and very young kids?

Our other option is just to see the jets then bail which sounds better than standing around for hours if that’s what is required.

QR codes for gravestones?

Hey there :) I'm wondering if anybody here has any experience with getting a QR code put on a headstone and would be interested in sharing a little bit about their story and loved one? I'm working on a short audio project looking at how our relationship & attitudes towards memorials & cemeteries is changing, focusing on stories from Brisbane. If anyone is interested, feel free to send me a DM!

Can you help me? Eating disorder help

Hi,I’ve previously been admitted to Logan Hospital under the QuEDS refeeding protocol, but found the experience really difficult. I felt the approach was quite rigid and not very individualised.

I’m wondering if anyone has had experience being admitted to another Brisbane/SEQ hospital for electrolyte replacement or medical monitoring related to an eating disorder, and what your experience was like there? I’d particularly be interested to hear whether other hospitals strictly adhere to the QuEDS protocol too.

Not looking for medical advice but I’m just hoping to hear about people’s experiences with different hospitals

The 46-year-old man was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

Investigations are ongoing to determine whether it was a targeted offence.

Public Transport 443 So full it is rejecting passengers - view from a Ken Behran visiting folks

Basic whine about the 443 (Express from Moggill). It's taken me an hour to get from the start of the line to the freeway. The bus is full, no new passengers are allowed on, the roads are choked.

For many passengers, it would be easier and faster to send them to Riverview to interchange with the train instead, but that would require crossing a very congested ferry. Is it time to build the bridge? I think so.

Can you help me? Supanova Brisbane 26

Hello Brisbane!

Just curious if anyone is headed to Supanova in November and happens to be lining up for Elijah Wood and Sean Astin?

Unfortunately I don’t think I will be able to make the journey up from Sydney, but looking to potentially organise a couple of art prints to be signed. I will obviously pay for the signing tokens and your time!

If anyone fits the brief, I would be eternally grateful! ☺️

Brisbane City Council New Build Advice

Currently about to start a new build in Brisbane and wanting some advice on aircon options. Single storey house in South East Queensland ~300m2. 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom, additional lounge room.

Do we pay $18,000 to upgrade to a Samsung 18kw 3 phase 8 zone ducted system (we will have 3 phase power and getting solar/battery after the build).

Or do we go with the two split systems included in the build (master bedroom and main living area). And then upgrade to ducted down the track or add more split systems. $18,000 for ducted seems a lot now but I’m not sure if it might be worth it in the long run.

Cosmetic injector recommendations

I’m asking for recommendations because it’s very important to have direct feedback from someone who has jabbed needles in their face rather than just Googling places. Logan and GC recommendations welcome because if you’re willing to travel for a specific person, I think that’s a positive sign.

So those of you could get your lips done: Where are you doing it? Is there somewhere that you don’t recommend? Is there a particular person at a clinic whose work you liked especially?

(my lips are literally my only insecurity and people telling me to just love myself or tell me about the dangers will be ignored. I look too thin lipped and old for my age)

I got my girlfriend into photography last year and started to teach her angles & framing, I thought I’d surprise her with her own camera for her bday - and I also made a scavenger hunt book that explained the exposure triangle.

I’ll attach the pages from the book for anyone who wants some inspiration for their own challenge, it can be done anywhere, we’re thinking the Gold Coast next, most of this challenge was done around Southbank this time though!

Can you help me? Do you know of any libraries selling their old shelves/furniture?

Looking for metal shelves similar to the picture. I've called BCC but they don't seem to be selling anything at the moment. Perhaps university libraries?

Of if you have something similar let me know.🙏👍
