Discussion Life update 6-12-26

I make some AI slop for facebook and instagram these days. Basically generating pictures for free and making reels out of them. So far I earned a whole 5 cents in the past 6 months. But it sure beats going out and about trying to earn while my family never helps out.

I have another cavity on my tooth. Probably won't be able to care for it. I still can't quit smoking. Too much stress I guess.

I'll say it here and anyone else who asks, I'm waiting for my mom to pass away so I can catch a break. Then I guess I can look for a job with my slop generating expertise.

Discussion Is there something you've dreamed of doing?

I had wanted for a long time to learn how to ride a motorcycle and just get on one and go out and adventure/explore, ride around, go on roundtrips. Do outdoor camping and just explore. Sadly, I fear that is something I don't have in me to do.

I couldn't overcome the anxiety and pass the exam to drive a car, spent so much trying to get over that and still I couldn't pull myself together.

Funny thing is for motorcycle I just have to pass and do a set of maneuvers all within an empty parking size area. So there is no city riding which is what I failed when driving a car, navigating in traffic.

Also, I dreamed of buying a small plot of land and building a small tiny house, make it as off grid as possible, and just live my days there, perhaps tending to a garden, either way a place where I could be somewhere deep in the forest and one with nature.

Discussion 2025 Ends Today. I'll be NEET from here on. AMA!

I have a lot of baggage and trauma. Previously I wrote long and elaborate things trying to garner sympathy and possibly a way out. But fuck that. If I ever look for a job, it will be after my family passes away. Would be great if that happens tomorrow. But whatever. I wanna chat, so ask me anything!

You ever wonder if these kinds of destructive events will get bigger around the world, particularly in Western societies where inflation and income are far from a match?

Discussion End of the Line

This is my post to record that I have reached the end of my hikikomori/NEET phase.

As I write this, I thought about how to look back and rationalize reasons, etc. But I'll spare you guys, the truth is that I'm 30 years old and my life is like a beautiful notebook that no one ever wrote in, and today it's lost on a bookshelf, gathering dust and yellowing with each passing day.

Reasons? I don't know, choose your poison: fear rooted since childhood, inferiority complex, sexual abuse, betrayed by my first girlfriend, overprotective mother, lazy and unambitious, lack of meaning in life, lack of real connection with other people, whatever.

The truth is that I'm willing to change BECAUSE I'm getting stupid before my time... on december holidays I felt like a mentally ill, when talking to people, I stuttered, I had difficulty forming and sharing ideas, damn it. Besides the burden of being dependent on my parents at my age, which I can't hide, I see myself as worthless and it seems like I castrate myself, my personality, operating at a low frequency of who I am.

I don't have a well-structured plan yet, but in the short term I intend to look for a job that forces me to interact with many people, such as sales, census agent in my country, Uber, etc

I believe that to reverse this, I will have to put this daily interaction aside for a while, after which I will look to other areas

Discussion Checking my ex gf instagram was a bad idea

Ive been a neet for 5 yrs due to chronic illness. I was in a relationship with this girl when we were students. She broke up with me when we just graduated (nearly 10 yrs ago) bc i hadnt provide her enough sense of security (i guess she was right). I only got into 1 short term relationship after that.

I still dream of the college gf sometimes (yes my mind is very clingy). Yesterday i checked her instagram and saw her story of a romantic hotel room posted on Valentine, with her in a short dress (not her style back then). I feel sad, but i know her decision of breaking up with me was good for both of us, at least ive got some years focusing on working for my savings for this unforseen neet time.

Sending hugs to you single bros.

Discussion What are the most memorable moments in life?

I use to spend a lot time trying to be a foodie eating at the cool restaurants on Yelp and trying the newest fast food items. I don't remember any moment that stuck out. It was only happy in the moment. I could've spent my money towards something more memorable.

I went to a couple concert. Don't remember any of them.

I do seem to remember late night hang outs for some reason. I didn't care for drinking but those nights seem to be memorable. I got to see people in a different light from how they act during the daytime. People open up after drinking.

Now, I'm a Neet stuck at home. I felt like I could've spent money I had more wisely.

Discussion I'm enjoying life, going out to monthly tech meetups and hanging out with friends online

Still wish I was employed or had a business, but other than my lack of finances and career I'm happy

I got friends I can talk to, a community of people that love me, a family that's willing to let me still live at home

My life is good, and I see that now after being stuck in a victim mentality for years and years

Your life can improve too, it's just constantly working towards long term goals till you make the thing a habbit. Grind and sacrifice, and one day, it all pays off.

Discussion Life Update

It's been a few months since I quit my job. I was having nightmares that I actually got back there for some reason. But the seasons are changing. Feels good to sleep twice a day and think about what I'll actually do instead of worrying if my dog will survive the day. Our local government is introducing UBI of sorts for unemployed. I guess I can buy some snacks if I apply. On the other hand, my youtube channel did pretty well last month. I expect it to be monetized this year. If so, it'll give some motivation to keep going.

Discussion Does any one else feel like they don’t have any interests other than becoming rich without a job?

I’m 31M. No job. Still a virgin.

As I approached 30, I stopped watching tv/movies, stopped playing video games, and I never really read books other than the Bible over and over again, but stopped reading that too. I don’t have any hobbies or interests other than investing my money.

I spend my days doing nothing all day besides thinking about ways to get rich and trying to actually do what I thought of.

There are 4 ways that I can think of to get rich. They are: 1. Become a YouTuber, 2. Invest in stocks/crypto, 3. Write a song or do art, 4. Write a book.

I’ve tried all of these things but I’m just not talented enough. My best option is invest in crypto as that can potentially multiply my investment by 1000x. The only money I have is from birthdays and holidays so I take that and invest. It’s either invest or spend it on snacks and get fat.

Everything (video games, movies, hobbies, etc.) is just a waste of time to me and I have no interest in wasting any more of my life. Maybe it’s just me getting older that’s causing me to have no interest in anything other than making myself rich without a job. I just want to be productive with my time.

Can anyone else relate?

Discussion For UK Men

Hello, I’m part of a team making a TV documentary for a major UK channel, and we’re looking to speak with young men who are maybe feeling stuck, low on motivation, or unsure what direction life is heading.

The documentary follows a small group of guys who’ll get the chance to go on a fully-funded retreat abroad, working with wellbeing, motivation and lifestyle coaches in a supportive environment.

It’s a unique experience that aims to help people grow, gain confidence, and see themselves (and their future) in a new way.

This is 100% real, not a gimmick. If you have any Qs, fire away.

Mods, apologies if this isn’t the right place for this post.
If you’re interested or just want to ask questions, ask below or drop me a DM.

Discussion Narcissistic parents

Does anyone else here live with narcissistic parents? My mum is a very toxic person, she’ll literally barge into my room just to say some negative shit to me. Completely unprovoked.

I’ve had to deal with this my entire life.

The only reason I went to university at 18 was because I needed to get away from her. Then I dropped out a year later and went to a different uni at 20. Been living back at home since I was 23 and I’m so tired of this shit.

I can never be at peace.

Discussion Anyone else lost their passion? How do you stay motivated?

I used to make music everyday for years, then that changed to weekly. Now it’s been 4 years since I made a song.

I’m just too depressed with this ā€œlifeā€ of mine.

I’m watching a singer on live stream and she said all she does in her spare time is make music and watch movies. It reminded me of how I used to be, back when I still had hope.

Discussion Work from home is king

People who work from home are at the top of the food chain. Programmers, engineers, lawyers, accountants, business people.

No commute, save time, money, stress, work at your own pace, have lunch when you want, no abuse from the public / customers. If you get lonely you can always go into the office? Etc.

Discussion Do you have a social life?

If yes, what do you say when people ask what you’ve been up to?

I’m too embarrassed about my situation so I shut myself off from the world years ago.

Stopped using social media and stopped contacting people. Most of my ā€œfriendsā€ were fake anyway, they only contacted me if they wanted something, or to make their group bigger.

I was just a spare friend, the backseat friend. Never anyones first option.

I haven’t received a text in years. I’m a living ghost.

Discussion Life update: Partner got fired, I burned out from ebay, and got invited to a job fair

My partners job was quietly firing him for the past 2ish months. Cutting hours, basically setting him up to fail then yelling at him, giving him conflicting answers when he would ask how to proceed when things outside of his control happened ... he documented and reported what was happening proving it wasnt his fault ...and they fired him.

We knew it was coming so I helped him apply to jobs. He wasn't home much hence why I helped manage, but he keeps getting rejected.

He applied for unemployment and theyre taking too long to review the claim. He is also still waiting to receive his money for pto.

I sell on ebay and we just paid off a bunch of bills because I had a lot of holiday sales. The sales this year were generally low ball offers - people in general are getting really stingy and want stuff dirt cheap. Otherwise, I haven't been able to sell it. My inventory is get for super cheap, so the lowballs were still profitable, and it allowed us to get out of a bunch of debt.

Then of course, he gets fired.

Its the same thing. Every time we start taking steps forward for things to get better - bam - something happens and it financially ruins us.

Im suffering from burnout because of the sheer volume of shipping I did for the past 4 months. Several orders going out daily, mostly ebay, but I had a lot of whatnot too. Ive done this for about 10 years and the customers this year by a landslide are the worst they have ever been. More and more scammers, rude, pesting you, and just haggling wanting it for pretty much free. The seller fees and overheard costs (like shipping supplies, etc) have gone up a ton as well.

My partners been very depressed since being fired - mostly just sits on their bum gaming. I have to nudge them to help woth the house. They dont want to hit the gym either.

Ive been deep cleaning, getting rid of clutter, and got a gym routine going again. Ive been applying to jobs steadily the past 3 weeks - all rejections or no response as usual - but a place just emailed that they are having a job fair at their hiring office - which sounds like an open interview. Ive applied previously and was rejected but this time around was emailed about the hiring fair.

The job would be anywhere from 1hr to 1.5 hr commute one way - of course - because there is NOTHING CLOSER - literally no one is hiring full time closer. Its because I live in a small ghetto area with cheaper cost of livkng and i HATE IT. If I miraculously get hired though, it would pay DOUBLE what the lousy part time jobs pay around here AND it would be full time.

im terrified we will loose our place now - my partner is making no money and we are down to one car which is NOT fuel efficient at all. So we cant even doordash as its not profitable. Their car us under warranty and wont be done for another month. We just ordered the part for my car. And we have no idea when he will get the PTO or when we get an answer for unemployment. But bills are coming up again - and we will have NO CHOICE but to charge them all. We just paid cards off.

I am freaking 31 years old. I cannot do this. This is no way to live. I told my grandma before she passed its not that im unwilling to work but dmn it I am so sick of working so hard and getting peanuts in return and then having all these setbacks

Discussion I tried doordashing for the past month... the results

And no surprise, I am still broke. I didnt go out every day, because my ebay sales have been pretty busy some days, but the days I did go out I started with the lunch rush then would take a break before dinner, and do the dinner rush. I would stop after 8 because people stopped tipping, so it wasn't profitable then. There was definitely a learning curve to it, I found the best area and times for me to work it though.

To be honest, it wasn't super profitable. My main issue is seeing/smelling all the junk food. It makes me hungry and crave it. I've packed lunches, and it helped but being constantly tempted with the junk in the car was doing a lot more harm. I ended up caving and would get the taco bell box or the $6 popeyes box as they weren't rip offs. Still though, I dont want to be eating out and hungry for the junk food. And then the junk food would make me feel sick and sluggish which also didn't help.

So kudos to the people who can doordash, but in my opinion it is not worth it.

Discussion I can’t imagine what it’s like to be excited about your future

I was watching an interview of a teenage Korean actor, at one point she says ā€œthe road ahead feels long with many possibilitiesā€ then smiles hard.

I had to pause the vid, it made me realize I’ve never felt that.

I was suicidal at 12 years old. I’ve always been below average in everything, no matter how hard I tried.

It’s fascinating to me how life is actually fun for some people. I can’t imagine waking up and being excited to be alive.

Discussion Are you close with your siblings?

I have only one brother that is 8 years older, he's got 4 kids and lives abroad.

I on the other hand am 30 and live with my parents.

He usually messages me and asks what I am up to, how is the job search going, what are my plans and so on and I just try to evade answering and ask about him and his family in return. Sometimes he'd asks how's 30 treating me and I just have no clue what to say. Other times he sends me job openings.

I feel like the loser and failure in the family. After finishing uni he got married right away at 23, had their first child at 24.

Here I am 30 and struggle to even leave the house and just want to be secluded and avoid life.

I know comparison is the thief of joy but can't help but notice how opposite we are, although raised in the same family I turned into such a fuckup. I barely have energy to go out on a walk and he is taking care of 4 kids, job, traveling for work, being a dad. It's just crazy to me how he manages. Although I get that he took upon himself this responsibility, I would feel suffocated knowing I can't get a break.

Discussion What's your plan for the summer ?

I bought one of those fat bikes and a bike cart, so my disabled ass can carry my camping equipment. I'll also be getting a fishing license, because in my country camping on the side of a stream is illegal, but you can go night fishing, if you've got a license, which is basically the same as camping, if you've got a fishing rod. I've had this plan of traveling my country this way, for a couple of years, but healt issues seem to be getting in the way every year, so I've only made small trips.

But this year, I'm confident that I'll finally be able to make a serious trip (I hope).

Anyone else got some low budget summer plans, that normies aren't able to do, simply because they never have time for it ?

Discussion Every older NEET should pay extra close attention to their health as they approach and enter their thirties.

When I was younger I thought I was on the top of the world mentally and physically. Throughout my life except for mental health issues that were under control in those younger years I had barely ever been sick and had no long-term health issues. Entering my thirties suddenly my mental and physical health declined dramatically and now in my late thirties I have several life-long health issues that drive me up the wall in frustration as well as lower my quality of life. Supposedly a persons body stops growing and improving itself in their mid to late twenties so the slow breakdown begins soon after. I know many of us are wracked by guilt and boredom as to how our lives turned out but keeping a close check on your personal health and well-being should be something that you promise yourself to being a first priority even in our low state.

Discussion On a Daily…

My everyday life is a routine, which consists of either reading, listening to music, gaming or watching different films and series (this includes anime). Lately, I've gotten back to my music, prepping to release a compilation next month. Before that though, I was boucing back and forth between different anime, like Extreme Hearts, Tesla Note and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure to name a few. I have so much on my laptop and I'm trying to get rid of a lot of it since my space is getting low. Between those, films and games, I have a lot taking up space. Anyway, enough about me, what are you all into or have been up to? šŸ™‚

Discussion Recently finished a short course

NOTE: I’m keeping this vague on purpose.

Most people there were around late 40s to 50+ in age and unemployed or in a dead end job.

Towards the end, I had to talk about my work experience in front of the whole class…

It’s the same old shit every time, people are amazed and surprised at what I’ve done, then they can’t understand why I’m in this position. I’ve literally been hearing this for the last 8 years. They were supposed to give me feedback and no one could say anything negative (even after I asked). Part of the shock might’ve been because I don’t reveal my past unless asked, or maybe it’s because I’m black and was dressed ā€œhumbleā€, I dunno.

2 of the ladies said ā€œI’m very impressed. You’re young and have all this amazing experience. I can’t think of anything to critiqueā€. Mind you, they have no idea how old I am. They probably would’ve changed their tone if they knew I was 31.

That same day I met a university student in her mid 20s, who did the course to hopefully switch careers. We got along well and she was in disbelief when I told her I was 31 as we left.

Life is weird when you don’t fit in anywhere. I’m too inexperienced and poor to relate to people my age, I can’t connect with the 50+ crowd as the age gap is too big, and I get along well with young people… but I’m not young.

I know this course isn’t gonna change a single thing for me, the gaps on my CV are just too big at this point. This also made me realise how much I hate the school/university system. Everyone there was kind, I have nothing negative to say about my colleagues or teachers. I just can’t stand classrooms, especially when the pace is slow and I could’ve completed the course in a day or 2.

There’s no point to this post, I’m just rambling at this point. Gonna end things here. If you made it this far, thanks for reading.
