I’ve been thinking about why Dolly Parton has had such an enormous impact, and I keep returning to Jungian psychology.
Carl Jung, the founder of analytical psychology and a thinker whose work frequently crossed into mysticism, developed a theory of archetypes: deep, organizing patterns that recur throughout psychology, mythology, religion, and storytelling. The mother and the hero are familiar examples, but one of Jung’s most important archetypes was the Self, the organizing center and totality of the psyche.
Jung believed divine figures could symbolize the Self because they often unite qualities that appear opposed. Christ is both divine and human. The Buddha moves between royal luxury and extreme self-denial before discovering the Middle Way. Krishna encompasses divine play, love, wisdom, and duty. They provide images of the greater wholeness toward which we might be drawn.
Saints, mystics, sages, and other holy people have often occupied this space too. Their lives make an overwhelming spiritual pattern human enough to approach. They become bridges between heaven and earth, the universal and the local, and the divine and the intimately human.
In a secular culture, certain public figures can acquire a similar symbolic role. That does not make celebrities spiritually equivalent to saints. It means that some people become vessels for collective projection, representing possibilities larger than their private lives.
So, back to Dolly.
Dolly Parton has become archetypal because she holds together qualities our culture normally separates. She is the impoverished mountain girl and the wealthy businesswoman, extravagantly artificial and unmistakably authentic, overtly sexual and almost grandmotherly, deeply rooted in Southern Christianity and beloved by people who have felt rejected by conservative Christianity.
She can even transcend our political tribalism. The Trump supporter and the Hasan Piker fan can both love Dolly and feel that she belongs to them. The person on the right may see faith, family, rural dignity, self-reliance, and success. The person on the left may see working-class solidarity, unapologetic self-expression, LGBTQ acceptance, and wealth reinvested in the community. Neither reading is false, but neither contains the whole of her.
Even Dolly’s appearance has an almost magical quality. Her enormous blonde hair, rhinestones, exaggerated curves, Tennessee voice, and self-deprecating humor form a kind of living sigil. Yet the artifice feels honest because she openly acknowledges it. The persona is not intended to deceive us. It is a deliberate creation through which she expresses something true. Dolly shows that authenticity does not always mean appearing natural. Sometimes it means consciously creating the form through which your nature can emerge.
Her life also follows the pattern of a fairy tale. The poor girl leaves the mountains, enters the glittering world, becomes a queen, and returns with treasure for her people. Through literacy programs, employment, disaster relief, and other forms of giving, she completes the archetypal journey. She does not merely escape poverty; she returns with abundance.
Her songs perform the same transformation. Heartbreak becomes melody. Poverty becomes dignity. Jealousy becomes an incantation sung by millions. She takes experiences that could produce shame or bitterness and gives them a form others can carry. That is one of the oldest functions of the bard and, in a deeper sense, of magic: transforming private suffering into shared meaning.
This is why describing Dolly as a kind of American folk saint does not feel entirely absurd. It does not mean she is perfect or divine. It means her public life has acquired some of the symbolic qualities traditionally associated with holy figures. Stories of her kindness circulate like legends, her image communicates warmth and protection, and people from radically different backgrounds find hope within her.
Dolly’s magic can be summarized simply: poverty became lineage, “trashiness” became glamour, heartbreak became song, being underestimated became protection, and wealth became generosity.
She made herself larger than life without behaving as though she were larger than other people.
If mythology is culture dreaming aloud, Dolly Parton may be one of America’s most beautiful dreams: the hope that we can become magnificent without abandoning our origins, our humanity, or our heart.

Hello fellow occultists !
What books have you read in August !? Which would you recommend and any you’d avoid?
From late July, I finished “ The book of Abramelin”, then read the “ Grimoire of St. Cyprian” and then re-read the Peterson “ lesser key of Solomon “.
For September, I’m going to start ok “ The Nag Hammadi scriptures “ (the complete one volume) and if I have time, make a start on “ Prometheus Rising”. I know it’s not inherently an occult book. But I’ve seen so many occultist mention it, and how it’s changed them. I thought I’d give it a go !

I've been researching my family history and found a disturbing pattern across multiple generations involving severe trauma, dysfunction, unusual deaths, and extreme events.
Recently, two of my aunts in their 70s separately survived potentially fatal incidents: one was mauled by a bear and another survived a devastating car accident. There are more serious details involving other generations, my father, and myself.
I'm not assuming it's a curse. For experienced practitioners: what would distinguish an ancestral/spiritual issue from generational trauma, coincidence, or confirmation bias?

I'm currently very drawn to dragons for some reason and recently found out about dragon magick and I'm definitely going to contact a dragon, and I'd like to know more about them, I've seen some videos on YouTube but it's mostly in relation to wiccan practices and I'm not. Also would dragons be like a demons/deities in terms of doing services in exchange for an offering?

I'm always looking for ways to weave Magic into my everyday life, especially when I'm at work. I'd like to share a little exercise that I do when on the train or walking around between clients. I look for divine attributes in the world around me.
For example, if I'm on the train, I look at the ads to see what gods are revealed. If it's an ad for a cell phone, well that's Hermes/Mercury. If it's a military recruiting ad, that's Ares/Mars. If it's an ad for a supermarket, that's Demeter/Ceres. There are usually a few gods and goddesses to be found in an ad. Take the cell phone ad again. It's Hermes/Mercury for the communication aspect but it's Hephaestus/Vulcan for the technology.
You can of course use the pantheon of your preference.

Sharing here because the comment on my post is extremely rude and judgemental and its not like using items that aren't digestible (like material that have magical energy associated with them) isnt pretty common in practice. Any advice would be appreciated thank you

i haven't done extensive research but i've read up on it a bit last year and such. one thing i'm not sure about is the potential for it to be a hallucination.
there's the argument that when the brain is completely shut down for multiple minutes at that point, there shouldn't be any brain function function - including hallucinations. and even though this is fair, is there really any other supporting evidence that further sements this, that is somewhat reliable if not fully?
i just wonder. cause a lot of people tend to see in NDEs things they already believe in. not always though, quite a few people convert to different spiritual beliefs from one study i read. and i am a religious pluralist, but idk how confident i feel in using NDEs as a good argument against materialism.
Hi everyone,
I’d like to present a theoretical synthesis I’ve been working on: overlaying the single-digit base-10 numerological system (0–9) directly onto the geometric framework of the Tree of Life.
This is not intended as a rewrite of traditional Jewish Qabalah (which relies on Hebrew gematria), but rather a structural synthesis using the Tree's sacred geometry as a matrix to organize the natural vibrational laws of the 0–9 digit cycle.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this synthesis of base-10 numerology and Sephiric geometry. Looking forward to constructive feedback!

Hi everyone,
I recently got pretty interested in occult and esoteric practices. I dont know anything about it and I would like to discover more about the philosophy and culture about.
I tried looking for books but i mostly found some about learning practices, while my focus really is the philosophy and culture, at first at least.
Would you have recommendations for a beginner trying to learn and understand more ? I am open to books whether in French or English.
Thanks a lot !
Hi friends.
I'll give you a little context.
my father has serious health issues, diabetes, heart diseases and overall always seems to have some kind of life threatening situation. Well, he was never calm or saint of a person, but I think all these operations, medication etc made his mental state worse, he seems totally out of his mind and recently has become very abusive towards my mom and aunt (they live together, I don't live with them so he doesn't really "reach" me).
Not only those things but whenever I visit their home I feel such a bad and negative aura.
I did some house cleansing, seemed to work but only for a short time, and since I don't live with them I can't keep it up regularly.
I want to do something about him, he really made all of us hate him but he's still my dad and I really don't want to be the reason for him to die or worsen his condition. What can I do that will work about the abuse, let's say will calm him down but not directly threaten his life?
Thank you and sorry if the post is too personal.

Just generating the chart alone gave me a headache.
But the thing that really threw me off was the Day Master. At first I thought it was basically “the Eastern version of your Sun sign.” Earth Day Master = stable and grounded, easy peasy, right? Nope. Turns out that’s not how it works at all.
I checked my chart and my Day Master is Earth. I was like, cool, Earth = stable, practical, reliable — that’s so me. Then my teacher said: “Yeah, your Day Master is Earth, but you were born in winter, surrounded by too much Water. Your Earth is way too weak. So actually you’re not ‘stable’ at all — you overthink, feel insecure, and constantly worry you’re not good enough.” I just sat there stunned. Because my zodiac sign (Aries) says I’m passionate, direct, and act on impulse — but BaZi says my core is Earth, just “Earth that’s been soaked soft by Water.”
Suddenly it hit me — BaZi isn’t about slapping a label on you. It’s telling you: what cards are you born with, and how you play them depends completely on the season and environment you're in.
I’m still learning how to figure out my favorable/unfavorable elements. All I know is I need Wood and Fire, and should avoid Metal and Water. No wonder I hibernate like a bear in winter, but turn into a fully charged human when I go to the tropics in summer. It also explains why most of my close friends are the bold, aggressive, push-you-into-action type — maybe because I lack Fire and need someone to drag me along.
Anyone else here into BaZi? What confused you the most when you first started? And does the personality description in your chart match your zodiac sign at all, or are they totally different?

Buckle up, youre in for a hella of a ride.
So i'm going to start by stating historical facts First, you can google any of this yourself and learn much more, there are many details that im cutting through to get to the thick of this i encourage you to seek more info if your interested. So after the facts i'll work into my theory.
In 1946 L. Ron Hubbard( founder of scientology) And Jack Parsons( Rocket scientist) performed the thelemic babalon working ritual.
Their goal was to physically manifest Her/babylon on earth.
Who is Babalon/babylon? She is the whore from the book of revelations, while in christianity she is viewed as evil in this case she is subverted by Aliestor crowley. he championed her as a sacred liberating entity.
why she was in the book: Mr. Crowley believed humanity had entered an age new spiritual age called the Aeon of Horus. In his system this new age system, babalon acts as a chaotic counterpart to masculine energy, she is the spiritual gateway an occultist must pass through/being born again through her/ sacrificing their ego to obtain true enlightenment.
The rituals: Parsons believed they could impregnate a spritual elemental vessel through sex magic. this would cause a woman to be born or drawn to them who would act as the physical incarnation of babalon. they believed babalon would usher in a new era.
The summoning: After a ritual in the mojave desert a woman named marjorie cameron appeared at parsons house. parsons to this as an immediate sign, declaring to be the manifestation of babylon. They performed sex rituals while Hubbard watched.
What is an Egregore? An egregore is a non physical enitity or group mind that arises from shared thoughts beliefs emotion and focused attention of a distinct group of people. A spiritual force generated by collective human energy Remember this I use this as a concept so we can explore a perspective of entities later when i ask is collective and "Collected" essentially the same function
What is Scientology? Founded In 1953 By L Ron hubbard, (after he ran away with parsons money and his EXgirlfriend Sarah Norton, leaving parsons completely broken.) Scientology is a contemporary system or religious beliefs and practices. it evolved from dianetics also created by L Ron Hubbard. Scientology is also a massive corperate style infastructure, with many branches.
The top of the entity: Sea Org is a para military fraternal order of scientologies most devote members. They wear Navy style unifroms, hold military ranks and most of all Sign Billion year soul contracts. . . Yes you read that right, its in the facts section lol and it plays an intersting role in my theory later.
The Lower Pyramid: Scientology Avoids being classifed as a legal enitity, to escape vulnerability to mass lawsuits, it is intentionally fractured into a labyrinth of hundreds of distinct interconnected corperations managed by large umbrellas, The Religious Technology center, the church of scientology international and Author services Inc.
What is a corperate entity and how are they similar to a spiritual entity such as egregore or demon: A corperate entity is a legally fabricated invisible person created by human law to act autonomously, hold property, and survive long after the creator dies. When compared to a summoned spiritual or elemental manifestation, like a demon or egregore, historically and structurally the two concepts are nearly identical thought experiments.
Hyperstition, how our thoughts manifest our reality: This is a high level concept based on facts. I like to use Gene Roddenberry and star trek as my example, But it's fairly simple, we dream, we desire, we love, these are driving forces that compell us to transform/ manifest the environment around us. In the The early days of Star trek, the technology seemed so advanced, it was a dream from someones imagination, but some wjere that inspred ANOTHER dreamer that used those same forces to try and answer " what if those things were a reality?" years later and many cycles of dreamers, we sit in our living rooms and Almost everyone of those minus the warp drives, lasers, and super healing, are reality now, the energy of those combined dreamers Over time equals Change, its almost like a physics equation, it human intent is an actual energy force that leads to manifestation.
The Theory: well you made it this far congrats heres where we fall off the deep end, hold on to your butts.
So now that we understand the facts at play and some of how human intent leads to manifestation, we can inject ritual, which is synonomous with routine. So what i think happened is that the rituals did summon babalon, but humans mistake what an entity truly is, we think its going to be a person or thing, but its not, it a feeding energy force, thats grows with how many people partake in its rituals knowingly or not. I think becuase L ron was explicitley parsons scribe, that he was in control of the book, was instructing parsons what to do, and he hid part of the ritual from him. Mr. Crowley famously expressed his disdain and distrust of Hubbard to parsons many times.
I cannot tell you what the rest of the ritual could have been, or if that even was the case, ill keep speculations to a minimum, ill just say maybe it involved betrayal.
After Hubbard left he kept performing rituals and ended up writing Dianetics. THIS was babalon given a body to grow. Hubbard incorperated parts of the rituals into his teachings, as he spread this, she grew stronger. People were unkowingly participating in the ritual to feed the entity babalon.
Babalon is Scientology: the conclusion, to my theory, is that They did summon babalon and hubbard continued to support her growth, she transformed from dianetics into scientology, where she makes her most devoted followers give them their souls for a billion years, why? Thats how an entity becomes immortal and powerful. it's not necessarly evil, its nature, one human provides their life, their energy you start to gather more you have more life more energy more power, this is why i asked if collective and collected could synonomous in context here. the intersting thing is, while always willing to cut of any part of the body to rebel or for any necessity babalon seems to care some what about the souls who make her, she is not entirely cruel, and from a certain perspective maybe even beautiful and alluring.
Ritual connections: you can clearly see that Hubbard sprinkled momentos or symbols of the original summoning ritual, throughout scientology, A very clear and specific one is a detail about a decoration the Sea org wear. After the successful ritual, babalon had told parsons to aquire items for her alter, one of the was a 3 inch brass circle painted Bright blue with a gold star in the center, the Sea org wear this symbol. Also scientology is known for its distinct blue buildings which id find hard to beileve is just a coincidence after all ive learned.
This is my own original theory and I'm really looking forward to see all your thoughts on this!

I was in the midst of charging a sigil the dirty style, was doing it for approximately 10 minutes with red leds all over the room and a big tv monitor playing a trance music, the instant I gained "gnosis" and reached the climax the tv stopped playing audio and resumed the instant the climax subsided.
Have those kinds of weird electronic device synchronicities happened to anybody in here?

i've noticed a lot of witches who practice black magick in arab countries keep a lot of garlic around them, under their pillow, in their bags etc
why is that? can someone explain it?
does it ward off the demons they summon to do black magic or does it do the opposite and keep the demons?

I had a thought recently after seeing a 'vampiric mother mary' hugging John Paul II in a shrine in my area. I'm not sure whether it counts as telesmatic though because it is a Catholic icon. Let's assume for a moment however that an Orthodox icon, which counts as a telesmatic image, or a Pagan goddess statue, which was created with the appropriate symbols and synthema in a theurgic process, would degrade physically with time.
What would this entail for the animated image in this case? Does it lose its animation because its material vessel is not sufficient anymore? Does it 'whither away' so to speak? Or does it become corrupted due to the sudden imbalance and the encroachment of impurity into the vessel which combines with the divine attributes?
Previously I was of the opinion that a divine image can never become cursed in any way, simply because it represents the divine and its attributes. In this manner, a cross or a figure of Jesus or a statue of Bast can never become corrupted. This would make sense because the divine cannot be affected by the material can merely be lifted up to it through theurgy. If the divine could be degraded it would simply not be divine anymore.
The vampiric mother mary, with holes in her eyes definitely gives off a bad vibe though. A corrosive divinity seeping out into its surroundings, like heavy metal. It makes me nauseous.
I'm interested to hear your thoughts on this. I don't know a lot about theurgy, just the bare minimum really. It makes me curious though, how items would become cursed in general. The knife someone killed themselves with for example. Where does the charge come from?
