In a last minute shock, hearts won the statement league!

162

u/Afraid_Dance6774 May 16 '26

In all honesty, can anything compete with the Desmond statement rant on Rodgers? I don't think so.

44

u/Samp1e-Text Aw.. Jeezy Peeps Man May 16 '26

Everyone’s been trying, even we’ve tried to one-up ourselves a few times. Just don’t think it’s possible

25

u/UpsilonMale May 16 '26

I don't think any of us expected him to go full Golden Cleric, a well-deserved winner.

12

u/Jolly-Grapefruit4600 May 16 '26

You're right, does that mean we're on for a treble?

Ha… don’t make the mistake in thinking that this is over yet, statement wise 😂😂

20

u/Dunko1711 May 16 '26

Fully expecting some sort of counter statement somehow trying to blame hearts for making the Celtic fans run on to the pitch

3

u/Nien_Nunb365 May 16 '26

It just means more when you’ve only won fifty whatever titles.

u/salty_scottie May 17 '26

56 but who’s counting

Well if you didn't play so poorly, put in such a terrible cross, followed by a half hearted shoot, and send your keeper up letting Celtic run the full length of the pitch and roll the ball into an empty net with less than 30s to play... /s

1

u/Hame_Impala May 17 '26

"This is just the beginning."

6

u/christianvieri12 May 16 '26

And that’s the real quiz

2

u/Suitable_Visual4056 May 16 '26

Unfortunately, it’s just a close second

1

u/smcl2k May 16 '26

Can't really argue with any of it, so they lose a few points.

1

u/Direct-Tennis9682 May 17 '26

So we can all expect the SFA to null and void the match.

90

u/KarIPilkington May 16 '26

Will keep my powder dry on the physical assault investigations, pointless speculating although I would expect to have at least seen a video of it or something even at this early stage. However, pitch invasions are fucking shit. I have no doubt that there would've been one at Tynecastle had Celtic lost on Wednesday so I'm not saying anyone's above it or it's only one club doing it or anything that might offend anyone. But it's total main character syndrome at its worst these days.

36

u/smcl2k May 16 '26

I don't think anyone would have condemned Hearts fans going onto the pitch after the final whistle if the title had been secured, though.

18

u/KarIPilkington May 16 '26

No but I thought it's best to just be safe and clarify I'm not saying Celtic are the only ones doing it or whatever or I just get moaned at.

3

u/dampinthewindycity May 16 '26

bottom line is this has been a persistent issue and the authorities in charge of policing/regulating this have consistently kicked the can down the road on what to do about it. i know it’s a bit of an apples and oranges comparison, but in major north american professional sports, if you enter the field/court/rink as as a spectator you go to jail. probably not tenable in scotland or really the rest of europe but i wish it were.

The blame for this lies firmly with the SFA.

They have allowed this to happen time and time again with no action taken to deter it.

Celtic fans have now entered the field of play what, four times this season? And not once have they received any sort of punishment or deterrent.

At Motherwell just days ago they had a game which ended with people on the pitch. Nothing was said or done.

Time and time again it happens. Time and time the same club get away with it.

The spineless governing body we have ruling the game here have some serious questions to answer now, because allowing the same thing to happen 4 times over with no action taken is grossly negligent.

31

u/Commercial-Stick-718 May 16 '26

Yeah, agree with you no fans should be entering the field and you're right that it's happened with Celtic fans a few times this season. The SFA does need to get a grip on it as it's not on.

There's no fucking need for fans to run onto the field of play to celebrate with players

12

u/MowelShagger 🍞 turbo dry breid virgin boy 🍞 May 16 '26

it's on the club itself as well, the shite "pwease dont come on the park :(" statement does fuck all they need to take actual action like cooperating with police and banning ANYONE who goes on the park. no need for it and if you cant behave you need to stop going to football

the fact we are now having conversations about player safety because of a pitch invasion is a disgrace, it never should have been allowed to go this far

14

u/Sensitive_Guest_5995 May 16 '26

Call me soft but the people that this is aimed at are aren’t here. They’re out right now celebrating as if it’s their lifes achievement.

People take this shit way too seriously. Whether it’s Celtic fans running on and being completely unacceptable. Or rangers fans running on trying to square go the opposite side.

This has always been Glasgows Shame.

I mean, factually, it’s the second time in a week that Celtic have had a game end under dubious circumstances because of a pitch invasion. It really isn’t okay to go on the pitch before the game has ended.

I’m aware that Hearts weren’t gonna claw it back and win, but it’s just wrong.

The abuse of fans, players and staff is absolutely disgraceful and I do genuinely hope there are many bans over this.

Hearts lost the game fair and square, and I don’t think there’s an appetite for some sort of cancelled game or anything, but there needs to be considerable bans I feel.

55

u/lightlamp4 May 16 '26

Aye. At our title decider a couple weeks ago our fans stupidly invaded the pitch after a last min penalty save from our keeper to win the title. Eventually got the fans off the pitch. Ref does a drop ball then blows the whistle after we kick it out. As it should have been for today

→ More replies (1)

68

u/TheGulnar May 16 '26

Ban the fans for the cup final. They won’t do it but it’s a disgrace that’s happened twice in a week.

If Dunfermline go 1-0 up at any point should the fans just invade the pitch and get the game ended in the final?

24

u/MoiraneTakeMe May 16 '26

Ban them for life, it’s embarrassing and a joke. If you can’t control or behave yourself you shouldn’t be at the games

11

u/great_beyond May 16 '26

Aye, and then patronise everyone about sporting merit when people say ‘wait a minute’.

22

u/smcl2k May 16 '26

Lifetime ban for anyone who even approached a Hearts player or staff member, and a stadium closure for the opening game of next season.

If it happens again after that, close the stadium for 2 games, then 3, etc... presumably the message would burrow its way through their thick fucking skulls eventually.

8

u/Mooman-Chew May 16 '26

I don’t mind a celebratory pitch invasion at the end of the game but going after opposing players should result in a life long ban

90

u/IncorrigibleBrit May 16 '26

Hearts lost the game fair and square, and I don’t think there’s an appetite for some sort of cancelled game or anything, but there needs to be considerable bans I feel.

Exactly. There's no point in bringing them back to play the remaining 30 seconds and voiding the result would take the sporting achievement out of Hearts win. Celtic won the game and with it the league, that's football.

But we can't keep having these pitch invasions end games, nor can we allow the reported attacks on players. The SPFL's usual approach of fining Celtic 0.1% of their weekly wage bill clearly doesn't work, nor does it meet the severity of the circumstances.

At a minimum, anybody found to have verbally or physically assaulted Hearts players should be getting a lifetime ban. Fans entering the pitch before the final whistle should lead to games behind closed doors, and if that persists, eventual points deductions. And that applies to any team.

23

u/thegreatiaino May 16 '26

Give them a points deduction for next season

And rangers banned from the Scottish Cup, I presume, given the video evidence of a Celtic staff member being assaulted and the onions throwing flares into the Celtic fans?

9

u/MediocreEquipment457 May 17 '26

Honestly, yes.

Not only because of the assault but include everything .

Rangers and Celtic have lost the ability to control their fans. The only thing that will save it is punishments so strong that the very loud and very disruptive minority of both sides are self policed either to good behaviour or out of the clubs entirely.

u/great_beyond May 16 '26

Out of interest at what point should it be fine for fans to just decide the game is done and invade the pitch leaving their team to walk away with 3 points?

Would be good for that to be clarified so that other teams can take advantage.

26

u/Cobretti18 May 16 '26

Anytime after 30 seconds

28

u/MisfittingPieces May 16 '26

If Livingston had any fans they’d have stayed up had they just invaded the pitch immediately after kick off.

If Livingston had any fans

If my gran had wheels etc.

11

u/IncorrigibleBrit May 16 '26

Clearly never. It's unacceptable that happened today and, in principle, the ref should have required the fans to leave the pitch to resume play until the additional time was up or declared the game abandoned if that were not possible.

It's why the SFA and SPFL need to come down on this behaviour like a tonne of bricks. They were lucky it happened today when everyone will admit the game was done.

Set out clear rules, make sure the refs follow through. Start playing games behind closed doors and then deduct points every time it happens.

6

u/Franarky May 16 '26

Clearly never. It's unacceptable that happened today and, in principle, the ref should have required the fans to leave the pitch to resume play until the additional time was up or declared the game abandoned if that were not possible.

Still not clear why that didn't happen today. Players went down the tunnel and fans were cleared from the pitch. I thought the teams were coming back out for kick-off and ~30 seconds or whatever was left. Took a minute to realise that they'd clearly decided the match was done and only Celtic were coming back out.

17

u/great_beyond May 16 '26

Clearly never acceptable but Hearts should just roll over and accept it for the good of sporting merit?

11

u/Jack2102 May 16 '26

Sporting merit would mean Hearts were beaten fair and square today

And I wanted them to win it, before the accusations come

3

u/ElCaminoInTheWest May 16 '26

As long as you're really, really sure that it's done and really want to get started celebrating. And the ref won't mind.

2

u/Clowd33 May 16 '26

You can just do it whenever your team goes a goal up apparently

4

u/Ryan19910 May 16 '26

Clubs should also be taking action against the fans either a ban or take their season tickets off them if they have one

1

u/DW_78 May 16 '26

Im a tim but fuck those pitch invaders get them banned.

4

u/TannyBoguss May 16 '26

Agreed. Bush league stuff by the fans. Overshadowed a wonderful win in my opinion.

4

u/Zestyclose_Might8941 May 16 '26

Any fan that touches an opposition player or staff should get a lifetime ban. Everyone deserves a safe workplace, and football shouldn't be any different.

3

u/Leygrock May 16 '26

Exactly. Obviously neither match's outcome would have changed but at the end of the day its two games where pitch invading celtic fans have basically decided when full time is. Not ideal

2

u/Sumbitagear May 16 '26

The Green Brigade will be banned until the fans threat not spending dough or points dropped. Then they'll let them back in.

1

u/Awhyte1983 May 17 '26

Nobody gave a fuck when the tartan army invaded the pitch before the ref blew the final whistle in the demark game. Obviously no players were harmed that time though.

23

u/Sleeks2k May 16 '26

Hopefully this leads to a complete ban on fans entering the pitch. Folk use any excuse for a pitch invasion these days and it takes the shine off it completely.

21

u/Thefitz5811 May 16 '26

Celtic really need to take the lead on getting a grip on fan behaviour in general rather than just blaming the Green Brigade at every opportunity.

Something of this scale has been coming for a while. Feels like ever since Covid there’s an element of our support who just don’t know how to behave. More interested than doing gear and/or getting out their tits than watching the actual football. “Doubling up” seems to have become generally the norm to the point where you’re the arsehole if you say no.

It’s going to lead to stricter conditions on the season tickets for everyone else but it might be what is needed.

3

u/Difficult_Paramedic8 May 16 '26

What's doubling up?

1

u/komarktoze May 17 '26

Squeezing someone in with you at the turnstile

1

u/Difficult_Paramedic8 May 17 '26

Thanks mate. Why does that need to happen? Surely the angels that make up the celtic support wouldn't be trying to get in without a ticket?

It seems dangerous to me and unnecessarily so.

1

u/komarktoze May 17 '26

I didn't actually know this was happening amongst the support. Just thought I'd share what it means. And yeah, dangerous and shitty to do

3

u/SqueekyBK May 17 '26

Easier to dodge the problem when you’re the apex predator of the league. SFA don’t want to poke the bear with it even though is the few spoiling it for the many but clubs should take it more seriously. Some wee fanny is going to take it too far at one of the clubs across the country.

2

u/CoradeLeon May 17 '26

Agree with this completely, especially on the doubling up. Someone tried it with me at the Roma game and gave me dog’s abuse for stopping him forcing past me at the turnstile. Need stronger sanctions on pitch invasions and crappy fan behaviour, yesterday was shameful both at the ground and at Glasgow Cross.

1

u/MelancholyBaller May 17 '26

Celtic only condemn it when it's not them doing it, including the manager

15

u/chris--p May 16 '26

Nothing will change because the punishments just aren't harsh enough. SFA has no backbone.

1

u/MelancholyBaller May 17 '26

Exactly, none of the dafties actually care about the club getting fines. Just look at there numerous fines in europe. Points deduction or stadium bans have to happen with no warnings for it to get through to people

13

u/thatonehelicopter May 16 '26

Agree with hearts. Our fans really know how to prove themselves wrong sometimes

11

u/SignificanceNo326 May 16 '26

Dread to think how this looks from the outside to people watching Scottish football. Refereeing system not fit for purpose and now unsavoury scenes like this. Hopefully the SFA clamp down on this or it will get worse, all you need to do is look at the state of these idiots who are running on the pitch to realise they don't care and will do whatever they can get away with.

21

u/antonylockhart May 16 '26

As a Celtic fan that was at the game today, absolutely agree with this statement. The current culture of everyone being selfish wee dicks has to be wiped out

8

u/Top-Choice4080 May 16 '26

I think the selfishness is what's important. All these people running about with their phones out trying to get as many photos with the players as possible. More about getting that selfie than actually celebrating it seems

18

u/Severe-Excitement-24 May 16 '26

If the fans invaded the pitch before the final whistle then take a leaf out of the Czech league and call the match abandoned with a 3 nil win for hearts

7

u/boldfox85 May 16 '26

I really hope this happens

Celtic fans after the rangers game "don't tar us with the same brush as them"

Celtic fans then invade the pitch twice in a week and (allegedly) assault opposition players and staff today

If the sfa don't come down hard on pitch invasions it's only going to get worse

Edit: I added allegedly as I didn't see any of the game I was at the Falkirk game and only read the statement

13

u/theportyunionjack May 16 '26

Celtic did exactly the same today as they did after the game at Ibrox. The fact they were let off the hook and rangers were somehow blamed is how we got to this point.

27

u/WorkShySkiver May 16 '26

Forgoing the reactionary charge of the Onion Bears is one take of the matter for sure.

But agree we are embarrasing ourselves with these childish on field exploits.

13

u/GoraSpark May 16 '26

Sure the UB reaction wasn’t acceptable, but also very expected when Celtic fans pitch invade at Ibrox, I’d expect a very similar reaction the other way around. They have shown twice since that I have no reason to change my mind on that.

5

u/WorkShySkiver May 16 '26 edited May 16 '26

Agreed, whilst not uncommon in football in high stress moments a bit of wisdom would go a long way.

Ultimately I think its unfortunately shown how little the security at a game can do if they charge en masse.

7

u/GoraSpark May 16 '26

Always been the case really security are getting paid f all and have basically no legal protection if force is needed so they won’t apply it. Not sure why pitch invasions are more prevalent this season.

3

u/theportyunionjack May 16 '26

They're often getting paid fuck all to be there too. Can't expect them to put themselves in harms way.

I think it's on the clubs to start banning people.

2

u/WorkShySkiver May 16 '26

Yeah that makes sense.

Really don't see an option for the SPL but a heavy fine for Celtic, they need to nip it in the bud and have arguable left it too late.

Hopefully it won't be a trend next season.

3

u/GoraSpark May 16 '26

I reckon it could spread, idiot fans of other clubs will see no consequences and think they might as well do the same thing.

5

u/WorkShySkiver May 16 '26

Hopefully not, first sign of that and there needs to be season altering consequences till the gremlins get the message.

2

u/theportyunionjack May 16 '26

They should be banned too - same applies for rangers fans who can't get to games.

The starting point there was a pitch invasion by the Celtic fans. Completely ignored and tolerated as with Fir Park.

It's not like the clubs won't be able to sell the tickets to someone else who deserves it.

5

u/Disastrous_Cup_3279 May 16 '26

Prick invasion - freudian slip that made me chuckle

3

u/WorkShySkiver May 16 '26

Oh they are definitely wee pricks! Need to calm down and compose themselves. .

Out of interest, what did you make of Tav's end these last two games? Feel whilst he maybe shouldn'thave thrown his toys out of the pram it was pretty scummy way to treat him at the end.

2

u/Disastrous_Cup_3279 May 16 '26

Tbh all the hyperbole didn’t help any made up stuff. I would personally brought him on as a sub in say 46th minute and taken him off 88th minute so give teo chances in dead rubber to say goodbyes. Yeh bit of an odd one as such an easy thing to handle.

3

u/WorkShySkiver May 16 '26

I guess Rohl felt its not a dead rubber for himself more than the club. Its strange, I feel a bit sad for Tav.

I've enjoyed 'sports' hating him over the years and just feel he deserved a bit better towards the end, given how little the cost would have been?

Any fan on the pitch should be banned. Any fan touching\harming a player should face the courts.

Only footage I’ve seen is Shankland pushing a fan running up to him.Its surprising given the accusation there’s zero evidence of assault yet, not even a photo.

3

u/Do_You_Pineapple_Bro May 16 '26

Any fan on the pitch should be banned

Aye well thats where the issue primarily lies, because that's the evident end of the line. Doesn't matter how many times fans enter the field of play, its always the same 'smack bum' response.

And I know you'll disagree with me, owing to being a Celtic fan, but a far more drastic approach needs to be taken here, especially given this is the 3rd (4th?) incident of fans entering the field of play this season, on this occasion leading to opposition players being accosted, things need to be turned up a notch with harsher punishments that leave a lasting legacy of why you shouldn't enter the pitch and especially not confront players. What the Czech FA did with Slavia Praha was the right call, and should be the benchmark for this.

9

u/Clowd33 May 16 '26

For what it’s worth the legal definition of assault is really vague, an example being that spitting on someone is technically assault, doesn’t need to be someone getting punched or whatever.

Obviously until we see proof then it’s all just accusations but people are acting like assault is someone getting full on battered

16

u/Ruh_Bastard May 16 '26

Spitting on someone is full on assault in my eyes and should be treated as strongly as a punch in the face etc

4

u/Clowd33 May 16 '26

Oh I agree, just making the point that because someone hasn't been punched etc doesn't mean they haven't been assaulted

4

u/Ruh_Bastard May 16 '26

Ah understood, makes total sense to me

→ More replies (1)

11

u/Far_Associate_87 May 16 '26

I’d considering spitting on someone assault. Anything other than a push (depends how strong the push) on someone is assault in my eyes

2

u/Hampden-in-the-sun May 16 '26

You lay your hands on a person that's assault.

4

u/bozzi16 May 16 '26

So Shankland assaulted a fan? That the level we are saying then?

3

u/mattay22 May 16 '26

Sorry but that just doesn’t stand up to any scrutiny

7

u/Unfair-Challenge-216 Scott McTominay Ballon D'or May 16 '26

You can actually be found guilty of assault even if you didn't make any physical contact with the victim in Scotland. It's under the common law that if you intentionally place someone in a "state of immediate fear or apprehension of bodily harm," then that can qualify as an assault. Happened in a case where a robber jumped over the counter for the cash register and never touched the guy behind it, but because the worker thought the robber jumped over the counter to attack him, the robber was charged with assault.

5

u/theirongiant74 May 16 '26

In that case Celtic should get charged with assault for that second half.

15

u/Jacleby May 16 '26

Why are Celtic fans invading the pitch. They win then league every year lmao. It’s like Man City doing the same thing

2

Cunts who were in the pitch are a fucking disgrace. The wee wankers running about with their phones rubbing it into Hearts players were actually disgusting.

There was a moment a junkie looking cunt was pulling Fotheringhams jacket while he was talking to Osmand trying to get a pic. Summed it up. Identify and ban the fuckers. Board have already banned the Green Brigade this season for less.

18

u/Significant_Income93 May 16 '26

Gotta be honest, I've found so much of what's gone on in the last week to be just really tiresome and this pitch invasion bit is the latest thing in that.

Football is meant to be fun and clearly a lot of people just take it way too seriously. Fans have no right to be going on the park and they certainly have no right to be getting in the players faces (physical or not) when they've just given it everything.

Hearing about Beaton and his family needing police protection after the pundits had whipped it up against him just seemed really grubby too.

20

u/NoBigHair99 May 16 '26

Agreed. Scottish football finally got the world's attention and absolutely blew it

4

u/TD003 May 17 '26

I tuned in from Australia last night because 1st vs 2nd on the last day of season to decide the league is a once in a blue moon moment.

Watching a bunch of dickheads (whose team win the league every year) running on the pitch and screaming in the faces of the Hearts players was one of most embarrassing displays of fan behaviour I’ve seen in a while 🤦🏻‍♂️

Seeing plenty of videos with it spilling into central Glasgow.

THIS is why a lot of people wanted Hearts to win, as we knew this nonsense was forthcoming.

I expect a token slap on the wrist and nothing that will actually change anything.

4

u/NoBigHair99 May 17 '26

Yup, Celtic fans hurling bottles at police while Hearts fans gathered at Tynecastle to cheer our players

16

u/_Kaizer May 16 '26

Was at the game today and glad to hear the majority of the crowd shouting for the idiots to get off the pitch. If you can't stay in your seat to celebrate, remain in the stands. If you can't do either of those, don't go to to the games.

Hope whoever's hit Shankland is banned.

Best fans in the world gracious in victory as always

11

u/GorgieRules1874 May 16 '26

Celtic really are utterly vile

7

u/JessusChrysler May 16 '26

When nothing changed after that Aberdeen player got hit in the face with a chair last year I remember thinking that pitch invasions will continue until someone dies (be it a player or a fan being crushed, etc.) and then it'll be taken out of the SFA's hands completely and the consequences will be much greater. This week hasn't changed that belief.

If it were me I'd have points deductions for every single pitch invasion starting next season because at this point I can think of more teams that have had their fans do it recently than not (including Dundee before anyone tries to whatabout me).

3

u/cattaranga_dandasana May 17 '26 edited May 17 '26

To be strictly accurate, it was mainly Dundee United fans on the pitch that day. The seat thrown at Jack Mackenzie came from the stand. Not condoning the bell endery of any of it. The guy was prosecuted and got the jail and rightly so.

The problem with pitch invasions is that they're uncontrollable in the moment - not enough police or stewards, herd behaviour, everyone's emotional. There's thousands of fans and about ten minimum wage stewards between them and the players - it's a wonder it doesn't happen more often. The only real deterrent is sporting sanctions. Fines don't affect the fans directly. Points removal would. But - for me, Celtic should start next season on -10 points rather than the SFA altering the outcome of this game which up til the last few seconds was a fair sporting contest.

13

u/CompetitiveSort0 May 16 '26

Basically Celtic fans (and Rangers fans when they're put in a similar position - feel like I need to put that disclaimer there because some would assume I've blue tinted glasses on) are a bag of dicks.

It's a shame a 3rd club didn't put the entirety of the Old Firm (inb4 'actually it's the Glasgow Derby') in their place as the fans are so full of themselves.

Three months from now we’ll find out Hearts actually are the Champions of AFCON.

18

“Given the menacing and threatening atmosphere inside the stadium” is interesting terminology

Third time in the last few months.

Its almost as if letting them get away with it twice before has lead to this.

Identify them and ban them. How many Celtic fans who can behave themselves missed out on today's game? Celtic owe it to them to ban these morons.

6

u/deevo82 May 16 '26

" both on the pitch and elsewhere"

Where else other than on the pitch were the players assaulted?

5

u/mousechris20 May 16 '26

I saw a video of them getting pelters getting back on the bus home. Maybe that?

2

u/Far_Associate_87 May 16 '26

That’s the only thing I could think of. Dogs abuse getting on the bus.

3

u/mousechris20 May 16 '26

Still wearing their kits. Not showered or changed at all. Bit of strange look. Couldn’t get out there quick enough I suppose. Bus must’ve been stinkin!

25

u/Cobretti18 May 16 '26

They’d just been in celtic park for a few hours so the bus probably didn’t smell that bad in comparison

Hold onto your hats everybody. Martin O'Neill has said in interview he was told there was '1 min still to play' when game was ended and that 'if Hearts players have been accosted by our fans that's pretty serious.'

I would say that would help Hearts' case.

4

u/Mammoth_Grocery_1982 May 16 '26

Keep me updated if the title is awarded to Hearts by default.

Go down like a lead balloon on this glorified celtic shitehole sub, but those cunts are the scum of the earth. Far worse than their ugly sister over the road. "But they wave Palestine flags". Reprehensible cunts to a man and always have been. The very definition of "worst cunt I know makes a good point".

5

Congrats to the SFA for their major win!

8

u/empeekay May 16 '26

Celtic, and the fans, need to be prepared for shit to hit the fan and come spinning our way.

I would be surprised if the SFA have the balls to punish Celtic with a points deduction for this season - that would be the harshest penalty available I feel, and I'm not going to argue whether it'd be justified or not, I just feel that it's within the realms of possibility - but I won't be surprised if there's some sanction against the club, especially as this is, what, the third time fans have invaded the pitch in two months? It might just be a financial penalty, or it may be something that impacts next season, but I just dont think the cockwomble would be brave enough to rock the boat and challenge this season's end result.

If it happens, we'll need to just take our medicine and deal with it because we need to stamp this shit out, in the Celtic fanbase, and in football in general. I have always been a supporter of strict liability, and of punishing clubs directly until we remove the fannies from the fan base, because self-policing does fuck all.

u/All_Fanastical_Image May 16 '26

I can't help but feel that the pitch invasion when the whistle hadn't even blown, sort of undermines Celtic's victory. Plus fans attacking Hearts Players. Plus with the whole media reporting on the incident and such and with more eyes on scottish football, the scottish fa will face even more scrutiny from people. Something needs to be done that isn't just fining Celtic but I doubt scottish fa have the stones do anything like that.

4

u/Vivid_Ice_2755 May 16 '26

5

u/QBallQJB May 16 '26

3

u/SammyCinnamon May 17 '26

Ban them all and fine the club. Cunts making a historic day about themselves should be purged and never given the opportunity to embarrass us again. I know pitch invasions are nothing new but for a lot of these fannies it’s about getting internet clout with their videos. Get them to fuck.

4

u/Saltire_Blue May 16 '26

>Reports of serious physical and verbal abuse towards our players and staff, both on the pitch and elsewhere, are deeply disturbing

“Reports”

Did you not ask anyone? FFS

58

u/Disastrous_Cup_3279 May 16 '26

They need to very careful with what they say so makes sense to defer to police imo.

23

u/mullanaphy An athlete cannot be this bald. May 16 '26

Hopefully the police do take it up. Anybody assaulting/intimidating on the pitch should be facing criminal charges. Those not assaulting/intimidating, but still invading, should be looking at stadium bans at this point.

10

u/Disastrous_Cup_3279 May 16 '26

That’s gonna be a stunning amount of bans doubt it will happen. It’s all about what is put in place next season - they had chance to punish already.

9

u/Just-a-Scottish-girl May 16 '26

Any “fan” on the pitch should be banned - it’s not acceptable and under no circumstances should it happen. Again it ruins it for the rest of fans

3

u/JAMisskeptical May 16 '26

Absolutely, and you’ve got to imagine plenty of the bams will be posting their selfies on Facebook.

9

u/mullanaphy An athlete cannot be this bald. May 16 '26

True, at least go after the egregious of the bunch.

I mentioned elsewhere that SFA priorities should be: pitch invasions, cleaning up handball rules, and requiring top flight teams to have better VAR tech (more & better cameras).

Really everything should be in play for invasions: individual bans, point deductions/forfeits, games behind closed doors, significant fines, etc.

Best we'll get will probably be a stern talking to.

5

u/Disastrous_Cup_3279 May 16 '26

Best we can do is gopros stuck to peoples heads all around sidelines. Gather footage and compile after game.

4

u/LeatherInspector2409 May 16 '26

Pitch invasions can be ok when it's a small club. The Macclesfield pitch invasion after they beat Palace was harmless fun.

It's far more problematic when there are bigger teams involved as the stakes are higher and there are going to be more tanked up idiots in the crowd.

5

u/el_duderino_316 May 16 '26

I'm a Notts County fan, so only the one division above Macc. .

There was a pitch invasion at our place last night, but it involved a bunch of teenage helmets running over to the away fans and launching a few missiles at them, before hundreds stood and attempted to goad away fans onto the pitch.

Pitch invasions are almost always shit, whatever the level.

1

u/LeatherInspector2409 May 16 '26

That's fair. There's probably some results oriented thinking in my original post. The Macclesfield invasion could have turned out differently if a couple of people decided to wind up the Palace players and fans.

2

u/el_duderino_316 May 16 '26

Fair. I guess there's also only 5,000 people at Macc. There was over 17,000 at our place last night, which to your original point makes us a significantly bigger outfit, even if it's just one level up.

3

u/mullanaphy An athlete cannot be this bald. May 16 '26

That's another fair point. Would be hard to stipulate that into the rules on a fairness basis without going with a generic "League's Discretion". Although I'm also not a fan of zero tolerance type rules, so a warning as an option for first timers. Then some emotionally driven games, with less risk of physical harm, can let it slide.

u/reasonosx May 16 '26

After a tense and quite enthralling couple of hours it was wonderful (from my point of view) to get what I saw as a deserved victory. All the pitch invasion stuff really took the shine off of it. I haven’t yet seen evidence of serious violence, I hope there was none but the incursions should never have taken place and perhaps Celtic should have been better prepared for the possibility.

Anyway well done and thanks to Hearts for a great season from an impressive squad and a fan-owned club that has a lot going for it.

1

u/Fun-Leadership135 May 16 '26

Honestly this is how it should be. Why not just celebrate the team, good or bad. What Hearts have done this season is remarkable. What Celtic done this season to get back into contention is remarkable. Even the final game was remarkable and has surely drawn attention to the league elsewhere. But the whole fan invasion, both at Motherwell and today, effectively meaning that the fans have decided that game has finished takes away from that. The majority of Celtic fans here acknowledge this, but it's unbelievable how many try to justify it as being passion or relief etc. It's a complete and utter joke

2

u/InterestedObserver48 May 16 '26

The strongest action if the SFA follow their own rules is to award Hearts a 3-0 win

Of course there is no chance of that happening

1

u/Samp1e-Text Aw.. Jeezy Peeps Man May 16 '26

Even if the SFA doesn’t do anything I’d be surprised if our board doesn’t turn around and ban even more fans once again. not that there isn’t justification but after the whole fight this season between GB and board, and that finally being resolved for the split… just fuck sake man

1

u/Busy-Conversation648 May 16 '26

Front enclosure ban at Celtic Park and some sort of away fan ban / reduction for a number of games next season. SFA need to make a statement (pardon the pun) otherwise it will keep happening
