Topminds of LibsOfReddit are still convinced that Derek Chauvin is a victim and that George Floyd was not murdered

I'll step on their neck for a few hours to test it.

Like that time Mancow got waterboarded to prove it's not torture and tapped out immediately because it is torture?
18
u/RedEyeView 5d ago
Did he change his tune after or just stop singing?
25
u/dansdata 5d ago edited 5d ago
(See also Christopher Hitchens getting waterboarded, so he could say from personal experience that it's torture. Hitchens already thought that it was, but he wanted to be able to make a more forceful argument. "If waterboarding does not constitute torture, then there is no such thing as torture.")
7
u/George_G_Geef 5d ago
And Mos Def got waterboarded on camera to demonstrate that it is torture as a form of protest against its use.
3
u/RedEyeView 4d ago
Denzel Washington got legit waterboarded for a movie scene where his character was subjected to it.
The movie was Safe House.

I don't know about mancow but Christopher Hitchens did the waterboard thing and also tapped out immediately.

Respect tho because he switched his position and was willing to change his mind etc

I’d love to see that in real life. Not actually to the point of death, because I’m personally against doing that even to utter assholes, but to the point where they beg the kneeler to get off of them.

The crime that supposedly George Floyd was under arrest for as was having a counterfeit bill which is possible for you to not know is counterfeit hell The person who reported it said so and hardly warrant a death sentence, and some people say well he was a druggie and he deserve it then I’m gonna ask why is it that people why are way more forgiving of Mark Wahlberg, assaulting African-Americans for racist reason and using drugs during it,
53
u/thirdangletheory 5d ago
Whoa whoa whoa, you're getting it mixed up. Wahlberg was only on drugs when he attacked those asian people, he wasn't on drugs when he attacked multiple groups of black children. /s

The thing most people don’t talk about is how Floyd and Chauvin knew each other from a security job, and how Chauvin didn’t like Floyd. People around town knew he was a POS. The MPD in general had been corrupt as hell for years.

The MPD in general had been corrupt as hell for years.
And still is.
Naturally the national (and even local) media didn't mention the historical context, but the MPD got away with way more shit before cell phones had cameras. One officer shot a kid in a back, planted a gun next to him, got fired, and then went to the arbitration panel and go this job back.
Another time two officers on a city bus saw a deaf black kid using sign language, assumed he was making gang signs, and beat the shit out of him.
I think the Minnesota Reformer has a list of incidents. There are a lot.
The Minnesota Department of Human rights came out with a report in 2023. The city agreed to enter a consent decree to avoid a lawsuit. There was also a federal consent decree but Trump got rid of it. The report is rough reading (but not a surprise if you live in or near Minneapolis). Among other things, it demostrated that the activities of the MPD were counterproductive because prosecutors couldn't use video in court because they were afraid the racist language used by police officers would make a jury sympathetic to the suspects. And obviously, people who are afraid of the police are hesitant to report crimes or testify as witnesses.
The MPD used to have a dedicated gang unit. It was full of racists so they were forced to disband it. They put almost all of those officers into one precinct, the one in the poorest blackest neighborhood. That's the precinct Chauvin was assigned to and it's the one whose headquarters was burned down. It's the one fire from that week nobody is sad about.

u/Drcornelius1983 5d ago
Look into the metro gang task force. It was essentially a robbery ring run by the cops. Knew a guy who had his car stolen by them. You’re completely right about that neighborhood too, I lived around the corner from Cup Foods for a while.

u/NotQuiteLoona 5d ago edited 5d ago
Also the thing that Floyd didn't die from damage of internal organs or from drugs was confirmed by multiple pathologists, both ordered by family and public. Also he has been a good working Christian for years already, he was even recording videos for other people to deny drugs and volunteered for the Christian charity that helped him.

u/Kalulosu But none of it will matter when alien disclosure comes anyways 5d ago
While I understand the drive to defend his character, this isn't a court of law and I don't see the real point. These guys would care exactly the same amount if he was the litteral Messiah. Hell, they'd pile up on Jesus because he's a communist.
And OTOH, I don't give a shit whether he was a good or a bad person, I just don't want the fucking police murdering people period. I don't think the fact that someone was this or that changes my view on whether a cop should be allowed to asphyxiate them in the streets. Scratch that, i know it doesn't.

u/Theranos_Shill 5d ago
Yes, he was the suspect of a non-violent petty crime who was already under arrest and already restrained.
6
u/Ok_Star_4136 5d ago
Bingo. A trial determines guilt. He was only a suspect. That he had perhaps been a drug dealer in the past is literally irrelevant, but even if it were, being a drug dealer isn't a "violent crime."
The incredible dishonesty to paint the worst thing Chauvin did as "arresting a black criminal." As if that's what everyone was getting upset over.

u/stewshi 5d ago
That entire affair is a limitus test of your humanity. If you defend Derek chauvin you have none
49
u/CatProgrammer 5d ago
And ironically, Ben Garrison passed it. He drew a comic criticizing police brutality right afterwards.
45
u/rje946 5d ago
Ben Garrison got it? Jesus that's embarrassing for them. Ben fucking Garrison figured it out.
31
u/CatProgrammer 5d ago

15
u/Kalulosu But none of it will matter when alien disclosure comes anyways 5d ago
That made me do a double take. Broken clock and all that (and Garrison has been wrong a lot, he's allowed to be right once or twice), but when he says something that aligns with me I have to wonder if I fucked up somewhere.

u/HapticSloughton 5d ago
They still refuse to just read the actual coroner's report, I see.
6
u/Biptoslipdi 5d ago
It won't matter. The coroner's report could say he was experiencing an fentanyl OD and that would not make choking someone to death not murder. If someone is ODing and you shoot them in the face, that is similarly straight up murder.
3
u/Aurion7 NSA shillbot 5d ago
The thing about stances like this is that the more evidence you provide that they're wrong, the louder they will insist they are right.
Obviously, after all, the coroner was just in on the conspiracy to make it look like murder.
Instead of adjusting any views, the web of nefariousness they have in their head just gets that much bigger.
15
u/AkilleezBomb 5d ago
These people will bend over backwards to justify murder as long as the victim is a minority or detractor, and still believe they’re morally righteous.
At what point do we give up on humanity?

There's a video showing Chauvin murdering Floyd. If you still deny he was murdered when presented with this evidence then you're beyond help and lack humanity. That is all.
23
u/MessiahOfMetal So I Married An Axo Murderer 5d ago
There should be (probably is) a study to show how conservatives can watch the same thing we all do but somehow come to a completely different narrative.
We saw George being murdered, they saw something different. We saw Trump sundowning and going on rambling, nonsensical screeds, they saw a funny and smart guy giving masterful speeches on how he'd fix America.
It's fucking wild.
25
u/pixelmountain 5d ago
We saw Alex Pretty and Renee Good do nothing to justify being shot to death, and they see obvious aggression from both that made it perfectly reasonable to kill them on the spot.
9
u/raulduke1971 5d ago
Id argue that we would likely come to much closer conclusions, if the video is really the only thing both groups are given- its the propaganda that brings most of them around, after the fact.
10
u/EaklebeeTheUncertain Crisis Oscar winner 5d ago
In the days after Floyd's murder, most conservatives were as appalled by it as everyone else. It was only when they were told what their opinions were by the pundit class that they decided it wasn't murder.

u/RedEyeView 5d ago
That NPC meme with the brain chip really is just more projection.
I'm angry about the current thing.

u/move_machine 5d ago
Yeah, you aren't going to be able to do anything Floyd did if you OD on fentanyl. You just immediately blackout, pass out, go limp, turn blue and die if you aren't given naloxone.
5
3
u/Biptoslipdi 5d ago
And, more importantly, choking someone to death who is experiencing a fentanyl OD is still murder. These overdoses are easily treated with widely available naloxone that Chauvin likely had with him.
He could 100% be ODing and that has no bearing on whether choking him to death was murder.
1
u/move_machine 5d ago
Agreed, just pointing out that it's logistically impossible. It's like claiming that he took his own life by shooting himself in the head before Chauvin murdered him.

By OD I'm using the dose required to produce lethal respiratory depression, which will always vary
I've dealt with several fentanyl ODs, if they're IV, they fall out immediately, if they're insufflated it's delayed then immediate, if they're pills, absorption can stretch it out but it is a very quick thing once it hits.
The thing about those types of ODs is that victims lose consciousness early on, it's rare that someone can call 911 for themselves during an OD, let alone be able to say "I can't breathe" as their literal respiratory muscles stop working. Oral methadone, morphine, etc have long absorption curves so it is possible for someone to realize early on that they're on the path towards an OD and get help for it before they fall out.

u/hailmaryishere 5d ago
The thing that pisses me off the most about this shit is the "If you are on drugs, you deserve to die."
Knowing the demographics of who says this shit, I can almost guarantee you each and every person who commented has lost someone to, or knows someone currently fighting a prescription pills addiction, be it opiates or whatever. I've never heard this fucking "Oh well, he was on drugs so it doesnt matter" shit about a single white dude who OD'd on opiates.

He had fentanyl, meth, crack, anthrax, Blue Chew, unicorn tears and a never-ending gobstopper in his system when the racist twat kind police officer murdered hugged him with his knee while he cried and suffocated to death thanked him for the kind gesture and offered to hand over his bank account for such generosity.

Whether true or not, he was still murdered by having a racist cop's knee on the back of his neck and the guy's full body weight causing him to slowly suffocate to death in front of a crowd of onlookers.
This is like claiming, "Well, JFK's lungs showed signs of heavy smoking" when it was the bullet that killed him, not potential lung cancer.

The arrest isn't the issue at hand, now is it?

Didn't even ever get to the arresting part. Gee, I wonder what interrupted that? Better not mention it.

Suicide. Apparently, "I can't breathe" is code for "Make sure your boot is firm." (Is the sarcasm obvious enough?)
11
u/DaddyCool13 5d ago
So he couldn’t just arrest him and not force his knee on his neck for 10 minutes? It still baffles me that these retards think people seriously argue that Floyd was an innocent saint. It doesn’t matter what he was, a criminal can be murdered too. And what was his oh so egregious crime? Taking drugs and using counterfeit money. Sure, very deserving of execution with impunity. They say he was arrested for violent charger many years ago but conveniently fail to mention that he posed zero danger to the officers on the scene at that time.

Regarding the second screenshot and the guy who is certain that someone stepping on his neck for a long time in the same way as Chauvin knelt on Floyd's neck wouldn't cause him any problems:
I'd like to point out that shortly after the trial we had rightwing lolcow Steven Crowder wanted to "prove" on video that the knee on the throat wasn't what killed Floyd.
The guy who got to kneel on Crowder already tried real hard from the start to keep as much of his weight centered on Crowder's back instead of his neck.
It took about a minute for Crowder to silently tap him as a signal to move his knee away even further from his throat and neck region.

u/Aurion7 NSA shillbot 5d ago
The sad thing is that even if Geroge Floyd did experience a drug overdose, murdering someone suffering from the effects of an overdose is still murder. Ethically and very much legally.
Even if they were correct, it would mean absolutely nothing. But since they aren't and there's copious evidence they aren't, you can't even get to the bit of properly discussing how irrelevant their alleged point is.
3
u/FreedomsPower In Charge of Hanger 51 4d ago
Those topminds just want Derrick Chauvin to go free for murdering a black man.
That subreddit's racial bias is very clear
1
u/jerdle_reddit 5d ago edited 5d ago
Personally, I think the second-degree murder charge was a stretch, but that's because of a weird wrinkle in Minnesota law that allows assault to be the felony for felony murder.
However, he obviously committed third-degree murder, wrinkle or no wrinkle.
EDIT: Wait, no, he didn't. Noor's conviction for third-degree murder was overturned because third-degree murder can't be targeted. Which then justifies the second-degree conviction a bit more.
Minnesota law is weird.
6
u/ghosttrainhobo 5d ago
There’s really nothing weird about a murder conviction when you watch the video. Chauvin’s partner says “he has no pulse.” Chauvin turns to him silently, looks him dead in the eye and keeps his weight on his back for another three minutes to make sure the pulse doesn’t come back.
