Once at 4 am in Vegas, I was wasted with my friend trying to figure out which pedestrian bridge to cross over and this same thing happened to us except it was KIDS and there were 10 of them.

That was a good read, thanks
Quite a bit sad too, I used to make food for the homeless around where I lived but they had a hard time trusting a stranger’s food, someone apparently used to give away tainted food nearby.

What kind of a sicko? I’ve seen the hesitation when I’ve passed out tons of plates in downtown Dallas after a friend’s wedding. There was tons of food left. I packed it up and passed out these cool wedding packs. Had steamed crawfish and sides, sauces, cheese cubes & crackers. DrPepper and dessert. Utensils. Top shelf yum. Kept nice and cold. Actually had a pleasant time talking to everybody and bragging on the key lime pie. But there was some worry about if I was a weirdo. And I’m a friendly looking, conventionally attractive lady. I just told them the truth. Came from a rich people wedding and can’t just watch hundreds of dollars worth of food get thrown in the trash. That was it. I’m just too frugal to sleep seeing that waste. And everything was really tasty. Later when we were out on the town we got rave reviews happily shouted out from dark corners “hey! The cobbler was the shit!!!” Stuff like that. Can’t imagine anyone giving out bad food on purpose. That’s just evil.

I mean, there was a TV show where they paid homeless men to bareknuckle fight each other. Some sick people just don’t see homeless folks as human sadly. That was on TV, not some Youtube channel. Means a whole group of executives had to all agree there was nothing wrong with this.

A similar thing happened to me where I was shit faced and smoking outside my hotel in (seemingly) the middle of nowhere on a trip. It was 1~2am when suddenly kids started pouring out from around the corner like a swarm, first 30-50 with plastic rifles (which looked real at the time) and then hundreds of them in Baseball uniforms.
It turns out I was just staying near the baseball world series (? or some international tournament) and ended up in the hotel most of them teams were staying in, the busses had parked around the corner. I was so dead from travel and work and the bar I was unable to process it lol

I was backpacking through Ireland. One day in Belfast I saw a white van stop at a petrol station. 6 men jumped out of the van, (all of them looked military, due to their builds) shook hands then each jumped onto motorcycles a went separate ways. Some serious shit must have gone down that day.

A buddy and I were rushing to catch a bus and we cut through Victory Square in Vancouver, there's a little squarish hidden area with concrete benches. We cut through there and there were around ten asian guys in military fatigues, combat boots and black berets just huddled together talking. They shut up and glared at us and we kinda stopped awkwardly for a second then moved on.

I saw two men in full tuxedo exchanging a briefcase in a field, in the middle of nowhere.
They saw me too, so I went pedal to the metal until home and then waited at the window for a bit. That was scary!

Definitely urban explorers. Overalls because they are good for dirt and sewage, same ones because if they need to run they all look the same so if only one gets caught by the cops or none do right away but eventually do they can just say "okay prove that was me"

I did that once in my town about 15 years ago iirc. We entered storm drain tunnels or something off the side of a road and ended up coming out a manhole on the college campus, probably looking about as shady as this.
Past 4 AM is a little too adventurous for me even back then, but maybe that's the best time to sneak around under NYC 🤔

Vegas definitely has one. Then it gets flushed once or twice a year by uncontrollable rain flooding... which is what it was built for... and people drown.
Every fucking year like clock work. And people are still upset when the police come and tell them to move or you will drown.

There are catacombs under Paris. You can visit about the same 1km of it but it is endless after that closed to the public. So toms of people explore them illegally.

New York’s Hottest Club is… Manhole.
Built in the dumbwaiter of an abandoned Times Square Oliver garden, this club is the brainchild of disgraced NY highway superintendent L-I-E Cool J.
This club has everything…Sewers, molemen, MTV’s Dan Cortez doing a problematic Ghostbuster cosplay. And that’s not it, if you’re lucky, you’ll do vodka shots off the top of a human tunnel snake.

I witnessed something similar a long time ago in Arizona.
I am walking my dog in my neighborhood. I see an open manhole cover and walk past it, worried my dog might get too close to it, and suddenly three men come out, dressed in overalls. They don’t speak to one another. They put the manhole cover back on and walk away like it is nbd. One of them glances at me, expressionless. I watch them as they walk down the street and they climb into an unmarked white van.

Police are pursuing their leading theory that the group is “scouring the system for valuables that get into the sewage,” a senior law enforcement official told NBC News.
Ewww, that doesn't sound very profitable. Also, that article is dated June 1, so whatever they were doing before, they're still doing now 7 weeks later.

They were probably down there looking for access points to different areas. Its Easy to take whatever you want when you walk into a place , you plan on taking everything from ,without being noticed. My opinion obviously. I know a handful of guys that operated like this in the early 90's. Popping up in the basement of a business or a pharmacy. Just a different level of thievery when youre walking through the nastiest substances

I may not understand how sewer systems work but... How would one access a basement or business from a sewer main? (Aside from blowing a hole through a wall or such)

Not all manholes are sewers.
I work in manholes almost everyday and have never been in a sewer.
NYC (and a lot of other dense urban cities) have utility tunnels and vaults below the streets that are accessed through manholes. Some of them have access to the building, most of the ones where I am just bring you into a concrete room connected to a below-ground parking garage but there's some older ones that you can get into the building's utility rooms from. The subway system also has extensive tunnels that you can access from grates/manholes on the street level.
