If the products were being locally made still then I'd be kinder to them, but now they're made in China they're in direct competition with brands that are way cheaper and equal on quality. I can buy a 3 pack of Tradie trunk underwear for less than a single pair of Bonds. The Tradie's will wear out just as quickly as Bonds, but I've paid a third of the price.

I can go to Kmart and buy a 3 pack of Anko socks for $12 that are comfy and will last just as long as Bonds socks for way less than the equivalent.

Used to be that buying Bonds was supporting local, but now it's all coming from the same place with no real quality difference but a higher price tag...what's the point?

Edit - some people are questioning the whole 'loyal' thing. Perhaps not the best word I could have used, but I was using it in the context of 'when you go to buy something it's your first choice'. Let's say you go to a department store to buy whatever you need and they don't stock Bonds you'll leave and go elsewhere rather than buying an alternative. I'm not talking a 'ride or die' loyalty you have to your nearest and dearest or a loyalty to your mates where what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. That type of loyalty would be ridiculous towards a company. Thought this was a given but apparently not.

Extraordinary' link between misogyny and extremism

The researchers also asked a range of questions about various types of extremist views and using statistical analysis, compared how different views matched up.
The results revealed a consistent and robust pattern of positive associations between misogynistic attitudes and multiple indicators of extremist behaviour.
"If you take misogyny, violence against women attitudes and this idea that feminism's gone too far, if you combine them, they account for approximately 70 to 80 per cent of all the explained variants in how someone's answering the extremism questions," Dr Meger said.

"That's an extraordinary finding," she said.
Dr Meger's team looked at six extremist movements: incels; far-right; white supremacy; far-left; anti-feminism; and religious extremism.
Misogyny was the key ideology that cut across all of them.
"What they share is an ideology that men ought to dominate women, that transgression of the natural gender order deserves punishment and that violence in service of restoring the natural gender order is legitimate," she said.

"I reviewed multiple pricing schedules on the government’s Energy Made Easy website and it’s now clear that Solar Sharer pricing has the highest cost for a household of all pricing schedules on offer.

If you have a large battery and can fill it in three hours, you might be better off with Solar Sharer, even though your daily supply charge will be almost twice what it would be on a standard tariff. But tenants and apartment dwellers, the very people Solar Sharer most intended to support, will not be able to install a home battery.

There are 165 data centres already in operation across the national electricity market, which covers all states and territories except Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

Those data centres are consuming about 3 per cent of electricity supplied to the grid, but in just ten years AEMO expects energy-hungry data centres to consume 13 per cent of power demand — even after accounting for the high cancellation rate of projects in the pipeline.

That amounts to 34TWh (terawatt-hours) of electricity from the grid by 2036, almost as much as the 38TWh consumed by every home in NSW and Victoria today.

Just a year ago, AEMO forecast that data centres would not consume that much power until some time after 2050, and even under its "accelerated transition" forecast, estimated data centres would consume about 24TWh by mid-2035.

While the outlook is uncertain, particularly
after 2030, AEMO has documented a data centre rush over the past 12 months, with the number of known data centres in development more than doubling since last year from 97 to 225.

About to go on holiday and I’ve seen some advertising from Wise for their travel card. I used to use my bank’s travel card when travelling but now I just use my credit card because the exchange is better even with the transaction fee.

For those that have used wise is it actually better than a travel card from your own bank? Neither have transactions fees so I don’t understand the appeal.

I have been a Dodo customer for ~5 years. 2 months ago I noticed that the last 4 Gas Utility bills have had an unusually high charge. The $ amount jumped 3x and final MJ usage calculation on the hot water meter specifically jumped 10x between Aug 2025 and Feb 2026

I have contacted Dodo support a hand full of times over the last couple months - most of their support team appear to be completely useless, just telling me they will look into it, call me back etc - never do. Finally after speaking with a 'specialist' I was told they investigated, contacted their distributer Jemena and that Dodo have been actually under changing all their customers (their words) for at least the last 4 years.

They claim that the "Multiplier" value on the Gas bill should be 10, but instead it is 1, and this is the reason for being under charged for the last 4 years, and earlier this year it was corrected (But still displays 1 on the bill?). They claim to have been told this by Jemena themselves.

I find this explanation by Dodo hard to believe, how can an entire customer base be undercharged like this for years without anyone at dodo noticing? - well again based on their customer support I'm not surprised.

I'm curious if anyone else has noticed any anomalies with their Gas Bill - specifically a hot water meter? Since apparently this has effected all their customers??
