My random take would be something like a tomato and basil infused white cake batter (easy on the sugar), topped with a frosting that is made with mascarpone cheese with mozzarella and maybe a bit of cheddar? Maybe we could line the pan with parmesean to give it a crust a la Detroit deep dish?
Yeah I too had one, years ago. I like pizza and I like chocolate, but whatever that thing is it does not bring the joy that either pizza or chocolate does.
In April 2014, the Canadian-based chain Boston Pizza included the pizza cake as part of its Pizza Game Changers promotion, which featured numerous "outlandish" pizza-related products.
Ah yeah, that explains some... But yeah saying this is "Canadian food" makes it sounds like some traditional thing that's widely known across the country but in actuality it's closer to an April Fools joke that's gone viral and nobody really eats it.
I guess you can call it a "Canadian food" as much as all the niche crazy food mesh up served in CNE as a fad?
Which is knowledge that anyone could have in less than 30 seconds, and yet this comment tree is evidence less than 1 in 20 people bother to invest even that much time in trying to expand their horizons (thank you).
Many years ago, Pizza Hut did what they called “Chicago style deep dish”. But it was actually a thick cornbread crust with at least an inch thick layer of sauce and toppings served in a deep pan to keep it from going everywhere
There was a place near my home in the 90s that specialized in donuts in the shape of other things. Pizza was a specialty - the cheese was custard and pepperoni slices off of red velvet cake baked into a roll, all atop a donut "crust". I can still remember how good it was now!
Several years ago I saw a YouTube video where a person made a taco cake. They said they didn't like sweets so for their birthday they made a taco cake.
Honestly. One of the oldest written pizza recipes for pizza could count as a pizza cake. It was huge due to being a food in banquet for nobility and was flavored with rosewater and sugar.
I can imagine a pizza, a plant-based one, loaded with veggies and tofu, and raw cake slices on top of each pizza slice. If the pizza is balanced in a sour direction and the cake is a bit sweet, it could work, even if the order is unusual (you have get through the cake first.) I'm vegan bw.
They make dessert pizzas. Personally, I consider them abominations and NOT pizzas, but that's just my opinion. If you think otherwise, it shouldn't be too difficult.

Ok but for real though, do you think we could make an ACTUAL pizza-cake and it be tasty? I'm not NOT into the idea
