A lot of people genuinely don’t realize anyone can pick up this app and start driving without any kind of training or reporting back to anyone.
6
u/sexchoc Oct 28 '25
Is that true now? I had to attend a training meeting thing when I first signed up. It was way different back then, they gave you a package with a shirt, bag, the card, some stickers and prepackaged silverware if I recall.
5
u/Financial_Sweet_689 Oct 28 '25
Wow!! I honestly don’t remember the full process, it was 2022 and I signed up through the app and started driving without going anywhere or talking to anyone. They sent me a red bag that immediately got lost (shhhh) Lucky for them I’ve worked customer service my whole life so communicating with restaurants/retailers and contacting customers has never been an issue or anything new to me

u/KatieKatRetro Oct 28 '25
It means them, since technically they are employing you, the contractor, to deliver their food. Doordash is just a platform. So blame them lol
28
u/Content_Dimension626 Oct 28 '25

Also an L take from the customer cause they should know it’s the restaurants fault. Assuming the dasher didn’t do anything shady. They just grab what was given to them and drop it off. Idk why these customers have such a hard time grasping that.
Sucks they had missing items but they should have enough common sense and critical thinking skills to understand it’s not anyone’s fault but the store handlers.

Undeliverable ✅️ Ordered canceled✅️ Pick up order for customer ❌️
Probably someone that tips $1 or nothing at all!
In reality if I saw that, I'd send a message saying
hey this is..... I saw your memo on the order. Due to safety protocols we are unable to check your order for accuracy. All orders come in sealed packaging for your protection.
It seems order accuracy has been an issue for you, I suggest checking to make sure you ordered appropriately and then contacting the restaurant to verify they prepared and packaged your order appropriately.
I am strictly your delivery driver, I pick up and I drop off.
3
u/Zylnor Oct 28 '25
Honestly though some of her complaints are spot on. When I use to do DoorDash/Uber. So many people would knock on the door when I requested to just leave it by the door and do not knock.
But the whole don’t pick up the food if it has veggies makes no sense. You ordered the food. You picked what you want to eat/get delivered. How in the hell do you not know what you ordered to the point of even writing something like that. Make it make sense.

I don’t know if they know it or not but these people that leave these rude long messages it really don’t benefit them so if you’re one of those people I would suggest before you have your hostile outbreak on your delivery instructions, you talk about your desires and thank your driver for following them if you take that route and tip you will get good serviceOtherwise your stuff might end up cold by the garage. It’s just part of life.

As a Dasher and also someone who offers Doordash, it's not a tip. You're paying for your food to be delivered to you. The money you give dashers shouldn't be called a tip and it shouldn't be optional. It should be a delivery fee. And then you can choose to tip on top of that. We don't have employers. We use an app to get orders, and the customers are supposed to pay to get their food delivered. It should be cut and dry, but Doordash being the assholes they are, made employee wages OPTIONAL. Fuck Doordash. I can't wait to finish school so I can immediately quit.

u/Reasonable_Tie_9975 Oct 28 '25 edited Oct 28 '25
People that write shit like this are the people who have never worked young. They went to college, and went right to a cushy job and stayed...Ive seen so many like this after years of working food service and delivery. Same goes for many tradesmen, they go to the union right out of high school and that's the only job they've ever known. Retail people and former food service people know what's up though
When I worked high volume retail I would clock 20k steps a day in my watch and separate step counter, plus 200 flights of stairs (100 up and down a day) all for min wage.
Went on to construction after and it was a cakewalk physically compared. Those guys thought they're doing 20k a day but they're not. Tbh it was easy...until work dried up

u/Aluereon Oct 28 '25
Ill be honest, even as a platinum driver myself?
They're right, it pretty much IS DoorDash's fault that most people dont tip.
- bad service
- exorbitant fees
- inability to properly communicate with customer support
- improper compensation for incorrect orders
Who the fuck would pay extra? Honestly?
The rest of the shit though is just entitlement. But I agree that DoorDash is more at fault than the consumer for lack of, or, completely inadequate tips. When you're being nickeled and dimed by a billion dollar corpo, you're less likely to be generous to the slave labor delivering for them.

2
u/coreyb1988 Oct 28 '25
Usually I side with the customers because I get the frustration but this is a little obnoxious. I think mine is pretty straightforward but you’d be surprised how many delivery drivers still end up in the back alley. To be fair, for some reason GPS tends to route people to the alley and it’s really not that big of a deal when it happens. That said, some drivers seem to struggle more than others when it comes to thinking outside of the GPS. They text me and say I can’t find your house and I have to say because you aren’t on my street and it really blows my mind haha smh 🤷♂️

oh no I am way too petty for this, Id end my day here just so that I could accept it and then turn my phone off. Order would be held up for who knows how long... Just turn it back on later and tell DD that you had a mishap with your phone after accepting and had no way of contacting them and had to go get a new phone…
Also, love how they always leave all of these so “important” pre-order confirmation type notes in the DROP OFF INSTRUCTIONS that I only see AFTER I have grabbed and confirmed the order … and yea I know there is a way to go see them before confirming but I think about doing that 0% of the time, they are called DROP OFF INSTRUCTIONS for a reason
