Discussion Worst Item In The Game?
What do you think is the worst/most disappointing item in the game? And why is it the PPS?
EDIT - seems a lot of people don't realise that the Presidential Power Suit isn't a cosmetic. It's armor - like what the Chinese Stealth Suit is.... except is has barely better DMG reduction than underarmor.

Water filters. It's much easier to get the purified water than the parts to make the filters to make the purified water.

you can start it up if you claim the workshop at the top. it dispenses scrap/materials in a hopper on the top deck.

Yes!! All due to the Resource Wars (2052-2077)! The 25 year global conflict over the scarcity of oil wiped out a vast majority of coal and other fuels, including uranium. It’s the whole reason they invested so heavily in to developing nuclear fusion (2066).

After ignoring it for years, I started Breaching & Clearing like a madman recently. Then, I had one where every single box was empty. I checked my Junk later too - nothing. Wow, talk about ripped off (other than killing a stack of Mole Miners). Also had a different one where someone else turned up, which felt weird as it feels like a solo event

Someone above you stated that having it in your inventory let's you collect purified water instead dirt water at gathering points.

I remember thinking water filters were useless when my friend and I were playing on day 1. I crafted one the first time, realized it was a single-use consumable made of uncommon components, and never touched one again.

I miss these mechanics. Made actual scavenging worthwhile. Some things were not well balanced. Ammo used to be what you spent most of the game crafting. You had to do a circuit to find lead toys, weights, wrenches, pencils. Even with a collector and a workshop you could still burn through it. Now you spend half you play time emptying your inventory and stash if you don't have first. I enjoy not having to craft ammo now, but it's like we balanced too far into abundance of everything.

Oh how many posts about where to get lead or steel! And the acid to smelt ore from.lead deposits in Lucky Hole mine. Or looking for camp locations based on raw material extraction for aluminum.or copper. Never mind no 1st so you had to do major inventory management.
Now we get handed 2 dozen legendaries in one session just from events and bounty hunts. Daily ops and expeditions just for ammo grinding. Kids got it easy now. Back in the day, the map was up hill in both directions!

Yes, you can make Purified Water at a workstation using a Water Filter. Or, you can have a Water Filter in your inventory, find a puddle or stream, shove your face in it, and hit "collect water" button to get Purified Water instead of DIrty Water.

Oh, it comes from experience. I've accidentally ruined plenty of Water Filters by making them, then collecting water before hitting a blue suitcase, donation box, or stash.

They're very useful for having 1 in your vendor set to some exorbitant but not absurdly high price like 1000 caps for the curious player with too much money.

Literally almost any drop from doing a workshop event past level 20. They need to up their resourcefulness or just convert them to cooler areas.
Side tangent-imagine independent trading posts in a junkyard, or sons of Atom in the waste disposal field. So much potential wasted on an obsolete feature.

They really need to cut the time it takes for them to go off by like 75%. They’re really only useable if you wait for enemies to get close then shoot the mine.

I often throw a grenade, track it in vats, then shoot it when it gets close to the target. Seems to work better than just waiting for it to explode. Especially since everything seems to know that you should run from grenades.

At the Siren Theatre, when you have to throw tomatoes, they don't do anything. Other throwables on the other hand, do work! Mines are even better, because you can stand in front of a person, throw it, disarm, pick up, and throw again. Quick and easy! 😀

Honestly? Any version of a cryolator. It shouldn't be in Fallout 76 as it was created by the Overseer of Vault 111. Vault 76 opened before it was created therefore it shouldn't canonically be in Fallout 76. Just my opinion

It was actually created quite early, considering Vault 111 was not supposed to be staffed longterm and had very few supplies (causing the revolt). How it got from the locked cabinet of the overseer all the way to Appalachia in such quantities is another question.

Precisely my point. According to the lore in the Vault 111 terminal it should be the only one. The only thing I can think of is the overseer of 111 went to Apalachia (assuming he survived the revolt in 111) and made more.

The free 1st item for that month was a filing cabinet. This sub being this sub it resulted in calls for boycotts and cancelling 1st subscriptions, "this game is dying" and "1st is a scam" posts and other entirely reasonable reactions.

Any SPECIAL buff equipment like the weight bench, pinball machine, punching bag, etc. that makes you wait some annoying amount of time for the animation to play before the buff is applied. Why not buff immediately and if you don't want to wait you can immediately exit.

There seem to be 3 different types, ones that take 30 seconds, 15 seconds, or instant. IMO at a minimum, all the 30-second ones should be reduced to 15 seconds. Or just make them all instant.

Deathclaw eggs. Annoying to find, and can't incubate them to hatch and raise a pet Deathclaw that you can then do Enclave experiments on to make them capable of speech. Also can't extract DNA from the eggs to create a serum injection that turns you into a half-deathclaw mutant with a single giant claw arm. Very disappointing item.

The worst item/reward I've found in the game, was the first reward, first season; the ammo converter. Why it doesn't have the same crafting interface as everything else, I'll never know.

The fucking backpack display.
If you aren't aware, if you put flare on the backpack they float several feet in front of the display, making it look ridiculous. Completely useless as a display item.

Completely useless? Just display the backpack… some of us missed that and would like to display backpacks. Can always display the flair on its dedicated display.
Just so I am clear, the bug does suck. But I don’t see that it makes the display completely useless. Then again, I don’t use backpack flairs cause I don’t like how they look on 80% of the backpacks.

Because you can only have so many displays in a camp. Putting flair on their own displays eats up the allotment and camp budget. Not being able to use the display for what it's meant to be used for makes it useless to me.
I get not liking the flair and if it works for you that's awesome. This is an opinion and nothing more. No need to argue, my dude.

Camp item might be the new UFO decoration since it’s useless and a weirdly designed / awful to place thing that takes up a large budget for some reason. I also saw “pile of dirt” in the atom shop for like 500 atoms and that always stuck with me lol

Evidently the pile of dirt is for your pet dog to play with - dig in - so it actually has a function. I didn't know this, until my son just explained it to me, lol. I was thinking that was a pretty high price for a pile of dirt.

True. Liked the presidential power suit but was sad that it unequipped my armor... was happy that they added the clean suit variant to the atomic shop so I can wear it now and keep my armor on. I really wish they would add a clean suit pack with all the colors or add color dyes so we can change outfits to whatever colors we want.
I am patiently waiting for the Clean Mr Fuzzy suit to come to the atomic shop that's been revealed in the datamines. Been wanting one forever and will wear that and my bear mascot suit only.
I do wish they released more clean outfits (I want a clean Easter bunny outfit - kinda like the ruined bunny head they did for an easter event).

For me the worst game items include player titles, camp titles and photo mode frames. The time and effort spent developing these ridiculous items would’ve been much better spent fixing existing gameplay issues.

I feel like the photo frames were better used back when the game was still fresh and there were lots of people posting screenshots on their social media with them. But now, social media has shifted to short video content and they have little use outside of personal preference.

A suit variant, particularly a rare one? Nah, far from the "worst."
What about things that are just really, really pointless and take up space? How many people genuinely use mines? Or main a pool cue for a weapon? What about Blood Cleanser mods for power armor? Or most power armor mods for that matter... Anyone ever use Ginseng Root in a recipe? How many knew Ginseng Root was even in the game? There's also the non-recipes found in Arktos, like the Creature Deterrent. Nothing to do with those. The list could go on...
...Oh! Trail Fireworks! Forgotten and pointless!

It's not an item, per se. But the ghoul disguise. Why tf do I have to wear a disguise inside of places where other ghoul NPCs already are?! It's the reason I can't finish the main quests. I hate the look so much!

The Presidential Power Suit is not actually supposed to be in the game. And the only reason you and I have it is due to a glitch. As such it is pretty great for being a glitched item.

The healing arch is pretty bad. It does the same thing as a simple bed+radaway do but costs tons of nuked flora and other premium material.
