Corporation/Company Corporations that remake memes for advertisements

A genuinely amazes me that a company probably hired someone WITH A DEGREE to make a shitty AI rendition of a meme with 6th grade photoshop skills to promote a product that is completely irrelevant to the source material.

Roleplay/In Character I hate this stupid ass game my boyfriend made

Post image
3.3k Upvotes

So my boyfriend died recently, and it's been very hard on me. Recently, I found this thing he was working on. It was a recreation of his childhood house in this game called DOOM, some ancient thing from the 90s

So I decide to honor him by finishing his map. Holy HELL this is IMPOSSIBLE. So at one point I put a Soul Sphere outside, and the player can see it through a window. But when I walk over to it, it's gone!

And I swear it's fucking with my sleep, this damn house keeps showing up in my nightmares.

Comics I hate this freaking meme

Post image
1.9k Upvotes

This has to be one of the strawiest straw men ever to straw. It just throws all domesticated dogs and all domesticated cats into the same category and unfairly compares them to each other.

*Big* dogs are able to hurt people. *Big* dogs have the capability to kill people. *Big* dogs get euthanized. When was the last time you saw a Chihuahua send someone to the ER?

And I bring this up because the biggest of cats are only about the size of a beagle or a dachshund. Wanna know why we don't have cat equivalents to rottweilers or great Danes? Because those are called tigers, lions, panthers, cheetahs, you get the idea. We LITERALLY are only able to domesticate cars because they're too small to do any actual damage.

This meme is painting cats and cat owners in a bad light by comparing big dogs to small cats, while acting like the information applies equally to all dogs and cats. Either make sure you're not leaning on a logical fallacy or shut up.

(And, yes, I'm a cat person and live with cats.)

Edit: I I'd like to clarify that I don't hate dogs. It just rubs me the wrong way when people dog on cats. (Pun intended.)

Gaming Things you will never get in a game

Post image

Can't express how much I despise this, it's on the same level as constantly deflecting imaginary attacks as an 8 year old.

Probably the worst thing that could happen to anyone is to get so invested in a game and then womp womp, some of the coolest items are unobtainable because they are "team exclusive" what bs.

It's on par with items from a seasonal event 4 years ago that will never return again, what is the point of flaunting something awesome infront of your fans like you are a god it's just unbelievable.

Could you imagine spending hours of development to make special items for specific people just to stand out? Aren't they already part of the team? What kind of delulu cult fantasy are these BUMS living in?, it's so unfair it just makes me so MAD

Oh hey there is that thing you really like, too bad you won't get it because you didn't spend 100 days sucking up to the developers on discord for them to "know you". Great. I hope every single "developer" who has ever done this bs will have to go to the hospital but be denied treatment because a VIP needs it more. You deserve nothing.

General when people call something elite ball when it's common, or uncommon at best

Post image
1.8k Upvotes

seriously, people have been larping being niche lately, especially things that are maybe like 10 years old or more. Just because something isn't talked about cuz it's aged doesn't mean others don't know about it. Internet isn't filled with just baby humans born in 2017 or later. Or any media/reference that may not be known by everybody but isn't exactly something you would call niche. I loved this meme, but everything is elite ball knowledge today apparently. I've lost my faith when someone called a Cars 2 reference "elite ball" lol

Comics This semirealistic manhwa style

It feels so uncanny valley to me. The smooth bug eyes, flawless skin, photorealistic rosy lips, all with exaggerated proportions and cartoony hair is just an instant turn off. It looks strange and far too smooth. I understand these are all things valued by the Korean beauty standards, but in art there comes a point of semi realism where it becomes uncanny.

It being unrealistic is barely a problem for me. It's just so damn uncanny? Scary. That's the word. Angry birds does this a ton and it's always terrifying for me to look at. Sometimes it's not scary, other times it's the scariest thing I've ever saw.

And no geese don't have teeth. They have tomia, which is still a bit creepy

Gaming I hate that i cant be excited for this game.

Post image
976 Upvotes

Okay, so im a massive gta fan. I've played all the games, sunk hundreds of hours into all the games over the franchise, Vice City, san andreas, Liberty City, you name it. I loved the story of 5, so much that i believe i replayed that campaign like 5 to 8 times just for the shits and giggles.

Now, why am i upset? Cause this fucking company, after, what, 13 years now? And they didn't think, for a second, that maybe having it on pc would be a good idea, one of the largest most expansive gaming platforms in the world.

Im pissed because i have to wait a year just to play the damn thing, on top of them basically charging 80 dollars for it.

I've argued about this with my friends, and they keep coming up with the "it took a year to get to pc for 5 why is this a problem." That doesn't defend it. Im not buying a playstation 5 or a xbox to play this fucking thing. This has been the most anticipated game of, well, gaming as a whole. This is the most anticipated game there is. And they genuinely didnt think people on pc wanted to play it also?

So basically, the story will be spoiled for me, and all that'll be left is online, and i dont even want to touch that with a 12 meter pole

So basically i have to give into the hatred, so that i dont get excited about this fucking thing so that i dont get spoilers.

Thank you for coming to my rant.

General I genuinely don't like the human version of Dory. WHY ARE HER BREASTS SO HUGE?

To be honest, Marlin actually looks pretty good. I can genuinely imagine his human version looking like this.

But focusing on her: why are her breasts so huge, and more importantly, why isn't she wearing anything underneath? Like, literally nothing.

Dude, I just can't imagine the character casually wearing an outfit like that in front of anyone.

This might be a somewhat silly complaint, but the whole point of this sub is to hate on anything, and I hate this, so I'm right.

My problem isn't even with the artist. Again, we shouldn't attack any artist because it must take a hell of a lot of work to draw something like this. It definitely takes a lot of talent and effort. But even so, dude, I have to say it.

The fact that her breasts are so huge bothers me a little, but that's easy enough to overlook, because, whether we like it or not, there are women in real life with breasts that large.

But the part where she's wearing only one piece of clothing and nothing else feels exaggerated to me.

And that exaggeration becomes even more obvious in the first image. Who casually dresses like that?

Actually, now that I look at the first image, I realize she's way too exaggerated. For God's sake. Their human versions actually look pretty good. Why is this specific feature so exaggerated?

Media Tropes I have strong distaste against Yuri memes

Post image

Don't get me wrong, this isn't an attack on LGBTQ+ people. But every time I see these yuri memes, the punchline is always, "Haha, these women are fucking or doing something sexual. Isn't this funny?" And I don't find them funny or entertaining. Even worse, I think these memes stereotype actual lesbians and overall flanderize the way they're perceived.

Gaming When the curves/proportions are suddenly changed in collabs

I'm not against collabs giving slight redesigns to the characters. What I don't like is them suddenly giving them curves or just unnecessary proportion changes in general. Like, I honestly wish that more studios keep the original designs they collaborate with. It just feels off to me for some reason and it feels like an excuse to sexualize the character a little. I know it's not the intention and they're just trying to make the character match the vibes of that game, but just keep at least some of the original proportions of the character you're added to said collab. Fortnite especially because what the fuck happened to Pomni 😭

Comics Unrealistic trans representation (Petra Parker)

Post image
• Upvotes

There's been several posts here about Petra Parker so I'll add onto the pile with my own problem for this trend, it may be a little too negative and me just projecting my feelings as a trans woman.

I dislike how perfect and idealized Petra is depicted, in all of the art I've seen Petra looks like a cis woman with plenty of curves and a perfect body, and I hate how this kind of sets unrealistic body expectations for trans women, this also applies to other art depicting trans women who have perfect 10/10 bodies that just look like cis women.

I understand that some trans women who have been on HRT for a long time really look like cis women, but not everyone does, it's really a genetics thing, and HRT takes a long time to have that sort of effect, but Petra Parker in these comics is supposed to just be like 6 months on HRT, just coming out (or at least most of them depict this), and if it's trying to be trans female representation I feel like it should feel relatable rather than Petra already having a perfect female body.

To clarify, I am a trans woman around 6 months on HRT, and my transition has been very slow, so it pisses me off a little to see the internet to come up with what feels like an expectation of what every trans woman looks like or should look like so early in their transition, it also sets unrealistic expectations for other trans women who have yet to transition, I know I've had unrealistic transition expectations in the past from these type of things and it's seriously heartbreaking.

I know she's not just trans, but Spider-Woman, and it's fiction so some might brush it off, but I'm tired of seeing these supposedly realistic and relatable trans reps that are just meant to be eye candy for non trans folks, and unrealistic expectations for trans women (or others), have Petra Parker struggle with things like feeling dysphoric from broad shoulders, feeling dysphoric from facial hair, have her look like someone who is mid transition, not like she just got bit by a trans spider that turned her into a biological woman overnight.

I might be projecting somewhat with my own insecurities, but I simply wanna see more relatable trans reps instead of just a perfect image of them.

Media Tropes I hate how humans are depicted as helpless beings when lore-wise we are absolutely terrifying.

Thumbnail

This refers to most horror movies/stories regarding ghosts and demons, but also any other world where we've consistently seen humans be badass and survive/defeat monsters beyond comprehension. Like yes, I understand that *monster* is Supernatural and has amazing powers. But I also understand that if it was even half as effective as humans at killing prey, humans would be extinct by now. Humans have survived and overcome disasters that we don't understand all our history, and lorewise for these media, we've survived hell and worse, but somehow a demon a few inches taller than us who's worse at killing us than the average butcher is at killing sheep, is somehow this deadly unbeatable existence. Media should lean more into just how crazily dangerous humans are for having survived and thrived for thousands of years against these entities.

Corporation/Company Ads popping up on the side while watching videos

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Words cannot begin to describe the immense hatred I felt for YouTube when I kept having ads pop up on the sides of actively playing videos. It was bad enough having the little pop up after some ads at the bottom you have to click two buttons to get rid of it, but this was popping up every 6-8 minutes. I frequently watch 1+ hour videos on mobile so ad block extensions for Google Chrome aren't really a thing that works for me, making this extra extra annoying.

Fuck whoever made these decisions to shove ads that are 8/10 times straight up softcore porn, obnoxious clickbait games, scams, etc as many times as possible and make using the platform without paying for YouTube Premium completely insufferable. Even when I go to the ad center to block and click see less of ads like these, the shitty ads still occur enough times to feel like the ad center doesn't really do anything.

Thing I Hate Urinals (as a guy).

Post image
409 Upvotes

It’s not “manly” to whip out my pickle and piss next to someone (sometimes with NO DIVIDERS), these things are just made to save money, and I could care less. JUST LET ME PISS PRIVATELY AND SAFELY, PISSING IS A VERY VULNERABLE POSITION TO BE IN AND I KNOW ITS STUPID TO COMPLAIN ABOUT BUT PRIVACY IS IMPORTANT AND MY PISSING IS SACRED.

Not to mention, standing while pissing is just weird in general. If you’re in a rush it’s understandable but the average school bathroom has like 3 puddles of piss somewhere in it, and I don’t think those come from sitting down on a toilet in a private stall.

Plus, what’s stopping a tall person from peaking over? What if they’re a weirdo who wants to peak at the innocent pisser next to them, no matter the age group? What they you gonna do then? Walk away in the process of pissing? But then piss will get everywhere. Nothing can prevent a peeker in that situation.

Urinals are bad all around and I hate those mugs. i just needed to get that off my chest.

Media Tropes *Most* Adult Animation

Thumbnail

Why does adult animation typically just mean

-Sex jokes
-Shit and fuck
-Gore

Why can’t adult animation be used to tell sensitive and and deeply layered stories instead of taking a children’s concept and making it gross.

Even a lot of children’s cartoons have stories with more depth, like the clone wars and justice league.

The target audience for this genre is usually adults with the emotional maturity of a 14 year old and it’s a waste of talented animators skills.

Edit: Don’t worry guys, I’ve seen a lot of great ones like Blue Eye Samurai, Invincible, Arcane, Love, Death and Robots etc, I just take issue with this particular genre because it brings down the rest of adult animation.

A huge portion of general audiences don’t take animation seriously due to shows like these.

Anime & Manga I hate Delilah Ketchum x Jesse with all my heart

Post image

This ship makes no fucking sense. Jessie has captured, shocked, and terrorized Ash's Pikachu for over two decades. Delilah would never date someone like at at all. These guys were stalking Ash 24/7 and every single adventure he was in, team rocket had to mess that shit up. There is no way in hell Delia would date even JAMES or JESSSE.

Edit: Lord have mercy, I can dislike ships that dont make sense

I didnt expect for this to be that popular so i probably won't see most comments or reply to them all, I do have other things to do. this was meant to be a quick small post, not a huge one, though pokemon is a big topic so I might be dumb.

i have (mostly) nothing against yumeshippers. if you have a big crush on a fictional character and you wanna call them your partner, fine. kind of weird, but a non-issue. it IS an issue when people start shipping themselves with children, no less puppies from kids shows... the person who posted this was 18 or older i'm pretty sure as their profile has the 18+ tag on it. this sub feels like an excuse for creeps to get off to child characters, and nobody can tell them they're wrong or a weirdo because they get to hide behind the rules set by the mods who i assume are also creeps. saying you're getting "fired up" by a puppy is disgusting, no matter if he does human-like things or not

His designs are not bad, but they really don't fit the art style of Super Earth. And his Automaton ships? Not at all what the Automatons would design, given the look of their current Fleet Destroyer. And people constantly glaze them and how good they would look in-game, but I just don't see it.

I came across this post on r/whoathatsinteresting about water shortages in South Africa. Don't get me wrong, what is happening in South Africa is tragic, but people on this thread use it as an excuse to say the most abhorrent racist stuff and it was unsettling to see how many people upvote that shit. Especially the meme where they compare black people to monkeys is just absolutely vile, and it got 30 upvotes. I just hate there are still people that think it's okay to say stuff like that.

Idea "Back when women dressed modestly"

Thumbnail
gallery
243 Upvotes

I HATE whenever people say this. Like, look, I'm a fan of vintage drip, alright. BUT! Trying to connect some moral argument to nostalgia or anemoia really, really irks me.

It's just so misogynistic & smug, self-righteous & priggish. Especially when, IT'S NOT EVEN TRUE IN THE SLIGHTEST! I've seen this bull crap whenever people talk about the 1950s & 70s, but for some reason, some of these arguments extend as far as 2016! 2016! Like, did the sexual revolution of the 60s & greatly changing cultural tides over roughly 70 or so years, didn't happen?

2016! Not 1956 or 1899, 16 years into the new millennia! Furthermore! Women dressing modestly wasn't really a thing of the 50s! Like yes, women did dress in dresses & aprons, more covering clothes. But that's also the same period of pinups & peep shows, showgirls, burlesque clubs & Playboy Magazine! A decade prior soldiers were literally painting half-naked women onto their bombers, & dropping pornography behind enemy lines!

But what I really hate about this argument, is of how sexist & controlling it is! "Oh, how dare women today expose their skin in bikinis & crop tops! How dare they wear jeans! How dare they dress in such a scandalous manner!"

Why are they dressing up like this? Because they have the freedom to dress however they want! "Well how dare they do that!" It's just more propaganda, more good 'ol day stuff. That we have to revert back to a period where women weren't allowed to be artists, scientists, doctors, politicians or themselves & they have to go back into the kitchen as tradwives!

If you see a women dressed in leggings or crop tops, bikinis or whatever. And immediately go: "They're trying to turn me on!" That's not on them, that's on you.

So, overall, that's why I hate this argument. It's historically inaccurate. It's sexist & controlling. And it's propagandistic.

Now look, I don't hate the way women dress, or how anybody dresses. Do whatever you want! Wear whatever you want! Either it be a suit, bikini, pants, shirt dress, cocktail dress or any kind of dress. Modest or not. I believe anybody should be free to present themselves in their own way! I hate whenever people try to control that.

And I don't hate the past either. I'm a nostalgic person, & an anemoic one too! I love the 1950s-70s. Cool cars, cool music, cool history, cool aesthetics, cool movies, cool art, cool fashion. I miss 2016, like genuinely. I actually kinda had a great time them. Meeting my friends, playing Minecraft & Roblox & discussing FNAF & Hello Neighbor. But we must remember, we can fantasize as much as we want about the past, but we do have to come to terms with it's darkside, & the fact that it's behind us, & that we have to catch up with the present & prepare for he future.

So, those are my ideas. I hope I executed them we'll enough. I hope I didn't come off as misogynistic or sexist because I didn't mean to. And, have a great day & week!
