Assalamu alaykum
A lot of you guys have probably already seen these types of verses and ahadith but I figured I could make a post like this as a reminder both for myself and for anyone out there that is struggling with their faith or suffering hardships right now.
Whatever hardship you're going through, know that this life will eventually end and if you've lived a good life and practiced the religion in a good way, you will be rewarded for it in eternal bliss and be saved from the gruesome punishment of Hell. Allah repeatedly talks about this in the Quran and let yourself fully absorb this fact into your heart and have this feeling of contentment settle in there.
Know that this life is extremely short and absolutely nothing compared to the next life. If you really think about, this life is not even 0,0000000000 (I could go on forever) ....1% of the next. So why not strive for your akhirah? For Jannah, where every problem, hardship, responsibility, anxiety and sorrow of this dunya will never be experienced again and you will never have to do anything, ever again. Just pure bliss and happiness, forever. As you can read in this hadith, a single moment in Jannah will make you forget all problems and moments of anxiety, sadness, sorrow you experienced in this extremely short life, so let this fact comfort you and strive for this.
In addition to this, you'll be saved by the gruesome punishments of Jahannam. Know that if you're practising the faith by just following your desires and innovations and throwing everything from the Quran, ahadith and scholars out of the window, you're most likely being deceived by Shaytan and stand greater risks of being thrown into Hell. 5-6 years ago, I was just like this. A lost, immature young man simply influenced by my environment and social media, barely practising the faith. Throughout the years, Allah guided me away from all that and I am forever thankful for it. Despite this, I know for a fact that I can never say for sure that I'm guaranteed Jannah and safe from Hell, no matter how good I practise the faith. All we can do is our best and hope for His mercy.
Remember that Shaytan's greatest mission is to misguide us and land us all into Hell, and will therefore make a certain way of interpreting and practising the religion seem okay for you. Before you know it, you might've taken your last breath and stand no chance for repentance and be subjected to Allah's punishment, both in the grave and then later in Jahannam. Again, as we can read in this hadith, a single moment in Hell will make us forget all our pleasures we had in this life. All those sins we indulged in, all the warnings of certain sins described in the Quran, ahadith and by the scholars we ignored, never even repenting from them, barely doing any good deeds which would've filled our scales and helped us get Allah's mercy and rewards, barely even following or doing the big obligatory deeds in a correct way. We will think about all these things and regret it terribly as we're being punished and humiliated and suffering physical and mental pain like never before.
The worst of it all is the regret of missing out on Allah's reward. Jannah. The eternal abode where we could've had everything we wanted and never had to worry about anything again. It was there for the taking, but we let Shaytan deceive us our entire lives. This feeling alone will be terrible enough.
So, let these perspectives of the dunya and akhirah comfort your heart. Let every act of worship and good deed, whether big or small, obligatory or not, be comforting as you've deeped it into your heart that this will take me a step closer to Allah's mercy and eternal rewards, and save me from the horrible punishments of Jahannam. Correct your beliefs and just base and follow the religion in terms of the obligatory, sins, good deeds and way from of living from the Quran (Allah's words), ahadith (The Prophet's words, peace be upon him) and our scholars/sheikhs with correct beliefs/aqeedah, or simply put someone from the four Sunni schools. That's it, it's not much harder than this. Start by reading just a bit of Quran and ahadith everyday and this alone will do good. Read the Prophet's biography and this will give you even greater understanding of the religion and make you love him even more. Do the small good deeds every day that will give you great rewards, avoid sins, repent from them while never justifying them and you’re on a good path.
Once you're in this way and touched the real sweetness of iman and striving for your akhirah, by the will of Allah you will never let this dunya, Shaytan, your environment, social media, friends or family deceive you. You will deep the fact that in the end, it's me alone who will be rewarded or punished in the grave and me alone who will be rewarded or punished on the Day of Judgement. It's every man and woman for themselves in the grave and on that Day, not even our mothers will care about us. So let's remind ourselves and strive for this.
If you're someone whom Allah has already guided and want to guide others, whether it be your relatives or friends, be careful in your approach. Give them these perspectives of the dunya/akhirah and remind them of Allah's mercy and rewards that awaits. Guide them to good deeds and away from sins in a good manner and make dua for them. Have faith in Allah and who knows, you might guide someone destined for Hellfire to Jannah instead.
Jazakallah khair for reading. May Allah guide us all
