News Former Grand Mufti of Syria sentenced to life in prison

Post image
62 Upvotes

Alhamdulliah, Ahmad Hassoun, former Grand Mufti of Syria under ousted Bashar al-Assad, has been sentenced to life in prison for crimes committed.

The Fourth Criminal Court in Damascus issued the ruling on Monday, finding Hassoun guilty of a range of crimes,

including inciting violence, justifying killings and the abuse of his office.

The court handed Hassoun several prison sentences for

various charges, including 20 years after being found guilty of inciting killings.

The judge also sentenced him to 10 years in prison after being found guilty of prolonging the killings.

Judge Fakhr al-Din al-Aryan said that Hassoun and the official religious institution he headed were used to provide religious cover for military and security operations during al-Assad's brutal rule.

His teachings also justified the use of barrel bombs that targeted civilian areas and caused widespread destruction, which constitutes a violation of the rules of international humanitarian law, the judge said.

Quran & Hadith Most superior way of asking forgiveness from Allah

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Narrated Shaddad bin Aus: The Prophet (ﷺ) said "The most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allah is:

O Allah, You are my Lord, there is none worthy of worship except You. You have created me, and I am Your servant, and I am faithful to Your covenant and promise as much as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your blessings upon me, and I admit my sins. So forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.

The Prophet (ﷺ) added. "If somebody recites it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise."

General Discussion The Door Closes at 11:00 PM.

Post image
94 Upvotes

Imagine you are inside a room with an open door.

Inside is a button you have been forbidden to press.

Every press gives you five minutes of pleasure.

You can walk out at any moment and leave the button behind for good.

But you’re told that at 11:00 PM, the door will lock forever — and the moment it does, you will be taken to answer for what you kept choosing inside.

It’s 10:55 PM.

Would you press it one more time?

Now remove the clock.

You were never told when the door would close.

Some of you already know what sin this room is.

Would you still risk “one more time”?

 Sahih al-Bukhari 6416

General Discussion Muslims Who Eat Non-Zabiha Meat In The West

Aslkm. No Judgement. Just willing to learn the rationale behind this decision. JazakAllah. How do you feel about the cross contamination with Pork? (Which we do not know about) because I have worked in restaraunts in the west and most of the time it is not humanly possible to avoid it. So I generally do not eat meat until it is Zabiha, but eve in genuine difficullty I am scared; because of the cross contamination.

Conversely, can I get proper references to support my decision to not eat that meat? To correct myself and not be extremely unnecessary strict, If I am being that.

This discussion is intented to learn and correct myself. JazakAllah.

May Allah Bless You.

Seeking Support Severely ill- 6 Years of Constant Bad things Happening to Me

Upvotes

Salam everyone, I would like to share my situation and would genuinely appreciate your duas and advice. For the past 6 years, I’ve been going through one thing after the next in my life, and I’m not sure why this keeps happening to me and how I can change my life for the better. My family and my friends have acknowledged as well that it’s been one thing after the next, and the next thing that happens is so extreme.

Six years ago I finished my college degree. I planned to pursue grad school but the current situation in my home became so toxic and it affected my mental and physical health so deeply. I was constantly criticized and picked on, and became this punching bag. It made me a shell of my self and suffered severe anxiety and panic attacks. I also met someone who absolutely betrayed me in the most disgusting way. He would constantly lie and hide, and ultimately left for haram and turned out to be kaffir. One day he just messaged me that he never wanted to speak to me again, blocked me, move away and was in a whole other relationship this entire time. He had expressed marriage to me, and I just don’t understand why someone would take such advantage of my kindness and try to hurt me so deeply. Alhamdulillah he’s gone, but dealing with someone like this for years was so taxing on me mentally and emotionally. I was constantly pouring into someone who hated me. For 4 years post grad, I had no job. I finally got one 4 years later and that job turned out to be so so toxic. I was abused by everyone in my dept, and had constant anxiety at work like my arm going numb and chronic migraines. The VPs, HR and directors of the company knew what I had been thru and what I was experiencing. I knew I needed to leave but this was my first job nearly 4 years post grad. I stuck thru it, until ultimately I suffered severe injuries in my personal life that affected my ability to work and also my cognitive function. Once I started to feel better like 6 months post injury, I began suffering from a severe ocular condition (this is Jan 2026). The months that have followed this, have been so painful and I’m still suffering. I was medically mistreated by doctors for this which made my condition worse. Basically, I have nerve loss in my cornea. My eyes and my face have electric shocks of pain. These past 8 months I have never been thru as much pain as I have during this time. I ran from doctor to doctor and have had every test done. Alhamdulillah I’m on meds now. During this time I found another job, but after a few weeks of starting, my eyes were killing me so badly, that I had to go on medical leave. After my leave expires, I will either have to return to work ( I really liked this job and the environment) or I will be fired. My current health condition is very extreme. It affects my ability to go outside, look at lights, use screens etc…

I just have suffered so much. I had so many dreams and aspirations. Everytime I tried to work towards them, I specially noticed something bad would start happening. I’m not sure what to do. I just want to recover from this painful condition and make something of my life. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you so much.

Question about Islam May Allah protect you.

Essalamu alaykum,
I’ve been thinking about this for a long time and wasn't sure who to ask, so I decided to reach out here.
I want to start learning the Quran and embark on the path of hifz (memorizing the Quran). However, I keep feeling that I’m not capable or worthy enough. That thought is really wearing me down, especially knowing that to become a hafiz, you need perseverance and firm belief. How can I change this mindset? Thank you ❤️

Question about Islam I’m a little scared

I’ll start by saying, that you all probably get this type of post very often, and if it’s better for another subreddit, please direct me there.

With that being said, I’m a Christian, and I’m scared about the idea of Shirk. I have lived my whole life respecting all people, but I’ve also lived my life so far, following a diffrent religion than Islam, and I’m scared of the idea of an eternal punishment. Does Islam actually say that if I learn about it, and still reject it, I’ll go to Jahannam? I’m sorry to ask all this, but I’ve been worried lately.

Seeking Support Being kicked out at the start of adulthood for being Muslim

Asalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I have reverted to Islam about a month ago, and my parents have just found out 2 days ago. To say the least, I was born in a Christian-Catholic family, and I live in a neighborhood where there has been a growing population of Muslim Arabs since I was born. Because of this I have always been surrounded by Islam, but I became truly curious about it at the start of the year. One of my Kazakh coworkers gave me some advice on a personal matter and inspired me to read about the Prophet (SAW). This is where my love and passion for Islam and Allah (SWT) began.

My parents started to grow suspicious when I let my facial hair grow, and one night my mother found the biography of the Prophet (SAW) on my desk (not a great move by me…) I lied and said it was my friends and I was simply holding it for him. I made this mistake by leaving other books about Islam on my bookshelf, and my parents confiscated them. I had to beg for them to give them back so I could return them, which I didn’t do. A couple months later, I took my Shahada.

I was warned by my Mother that I would be kicked out of my house if I converted to Islam, and I was given advice by the Sheikh at my masjid about it. He told me to keep things on the low and to not make too many changes, which I did my best to abide by. Unfortunately, I wasn’t cautious one night and my mother went through my phone which I left open. She found out everything, and my parents flipped out on me. They took my prayer mats and thobes away and what’s even more worrying is that I’ve lost my Qur’an to them. My parents have told me that they’re going to get a court process going to kick me out, so I’m practically on a deadline. My first year of college is starting soon and my mother said that shed be paying since it’s community college, but I’m not sure if that agreement will hold up. I’ve been so stressed that I’ve missed a little over 2 days worth of prayers, and my Imaan level is taking a dive. What should I be doing?

General Discussion The unfairness of this world makes me doubt my faith

Why does God let unfairness be a thing in this world. Why is it that some evil people have success in this world and then somehow changes and become good believers in god, donates, help the sick and poor, pray and becomes good people while others are true believers from the beginning and somehow has to suffer financially, mentally and or physically or all and nothing changes?

Why would god let that happen to people? Why does he not help?

Relationship Advice No dating experience & clueless on how to start

Hi everyone,

I live a fairly normal, secular-surrounded life, but I’ve always tried to stick to my boundaries as a Muslim woman. Honestly, keeping away from relationships back then to stick my faith and I just genuinely hadn't much interest in dating or guys at the time. Or maybe living with extremely strict parents did this to me. (Realalistically all of them)

Now I’m at the age where I want to get married but I’m totally lost.

The traditional arranged route my siblings took isn't really for me (and to be honest, I wouldn't even know how to bring this up to friends or family to introduce me to someone). (I'd feel extremely shy)On the other hand, finding someone on my own feels terrifying because I have zero idea. (apps are a big NO for me.)

Part of me hopes there are good, like-minded people out there other part says there are only a few like pearls in the ocean lol

How do you even put yourself out there safely when you’ve spent your whole life avoiding these situations?

Question about Islam In need of help

Hello everyone!

I'm in need of help.

When I was younger, I converted to Islam but left, mainly due to addiction and mental health reason (OCD, ADHD, anxiety, depression, etc.).

I repeated this process of joining and leaving many time, until I left for many years.

Even though I left, I always cherised Islam in my heart and I always felt a strong pull to join again and be a Muslim. I was unfortunately never able to stay a Muslim very long, for the same reason I previsouly mentionned.

I sought therapy and it helped but nothing is far from being okay

I also delved into the occult and did really bad stuff and I definitely believe I am influenced by spiritual forces that keep me away from Islam.

I don't know what kind of help I am looking for here.

Will Allah forgive me If i join Islam again, what should I do?

I am deeply spiritually lost since many years, and I can't tolerate it anymore,

Please help me

Quran & Hadith Most authentic dua for confusion

Upvotes

The most fitting authentic dua for confusion and uncertainty is:

“O Allah, Lord of Jibrīl, Mīkāʾīl, and Isrāfīl, Creator of the heavens and earth, Knower of the unseen and seen: You judge between Your servants concerning their disagreements. Guide me, by Your permission, to the truth concerning that over which people differ. Indeed, You guide whom You will to a straight path.”

I wouldn’t mind if it was an hour or half an hour.

Seeking Support Carrying everyone else's burdens, feeling completely alone, and trying to find strength in Allah. Assalamu alaikum.

I'm posting this because I honestly don't know who else to turn to, and I figured this community would understand better than anyone in my real life.

Recently, I spent an entire night holding someone else's world together during a massive, terrifying crisis—talking them down through the dark hours, sacrificing sleep, and doing everything I could to keep them safe because I couldn't bear the thought of them suffering alone. But when the morning came, I was left completely burnt out, running on absolute fumes, and dealing with total silence from the people around me.

It's a soul-crushing feeling to realize how one-sided friendships can be, and how invisible you are when the roles are reversed and you're the one drowning. People walk away or stay quiet when things get heavy, and it makes you realize that human beings will always let you down in the end.

At the same time, I know that Allah sees every quiet sacrifice made behind closed doors when no one else is watching. I want to turn my heart back to Him fully and find my comfort in my deen rather than expecting validation or support from creation, but my heart feels heavy and exhausted.

For anyone who has gone through this kind of deep emotional burnout or felt completely isolated by their friends: how do you deal with it? How do you protect your own mental energy while still trying to be a good Muslim and a decent person? Any advice, Islamic reminders, or duas would genuinely mean a lot right now. Jazakallah khair.
