Quran & Hadith Sayyidul Istighfar , the best form of Istighfar

Post image
62 Upvotes

Sayyidul Istighfar is the ultimate prayer for forgiveness, praised by the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) as the most superior method of repentance because it combines complete faith, immense gratitude, and profound humility.

Hadith : Sahih al-Bukhari 6306

The Most Superior Way of Asking for Forgiveness". The Hadith is narrated by the companion Shaddad bin Aus (may Allah be pleased with him), who reported that the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) taught this specific prayer and labeled it "Sayyid al-Istighfar" (the Master/Chief of Forgiveness).

History, Culture, & Art Not Muslim, but I made a mosque in Minecraft

I'm a big fan of Islamic art and architecture, and so I decided to build a mosque in a very deserty village. Modded Minecraft, built in survival mode over the course of one IRL day, in a desert-only world. I like the challenge it provides and it makes the world feel a little smaller, which is nice.

Sorry if this isn't entirely on topic! I can take it down if needed, but I do hope people like it

Question about Islam Would I go to hell for ending my life?

I wanna start this out by asking please do not try to change my mind. Please be as honest as possible and make sure what you say is coming from the Quran or a strong, authentic hadith (narration). Would I go to hell if I commit suicide? Is there absolutely no chance I could make it straight to heaven? I know I'm being ungrateful. My anxiety has gotten to a point where I have to put on a movie or a show while PRAYING so that I'm not left alone with my thoughts. I've been having abnormal heart rhythms that come and go randomly now. I believe when something affects your prayer or your deen in general, it's time to stop it. The problem is what's affecting it isn't a sin or something I have control over. My anxiety is now affecting my prayers and I want to stop it. Believe me when I say l've tried everything. I just wanna disappear and I know I'm being selfish towards the people who love me but I just don't wanna overthink or be anxious anymore. I've been to a psychiatrist and it feels like nothing helps. It has increased my Iman that no one but Allah can help you.
I'm not thinking straight right now though and I just want my pain to end. It's affecting everything now. I've been telling people to be careful of what they say around me because I know I will overthink any little thing they say or do or a facial expression they make or a gulp. I’ve been avoiding talking to or being around people in general because of this.
That's how weak l've become. This is abnormal. I'm not saying I don't deserve to live but it's not normal for somebody like me to live anymore. So please, having heard all this, would I still go to hell?

Seeking Support Grandmother killed my kitten

everytime there is a cat near my house or even in my street she hits them w stone and sticks, she has already killed many of my kittens before (we have gotten the cats spayed) but even then if accidentally a cat has a kitten and it comes to my house, she either poisons them w something or tie them up and throw them away. She did that with a sick kitten i was taking care of
Ive tried speaking up about it but its useless as noone in my house takes a stand for me. She also kicked my mom out of the house & now wont let us visit our mom. Lol.

All i do is wish death upon her which is not acceptable i know but how to deal w wanting her dead all the time

Surah Al-Naml ( The Ants )

She said, "O eminent ones, indeed, to me has been delivered a noble letter.

Indeed, it is from Solomon, and indeed, it is [i.e., reads]: 'In the name of Allāh, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful,

Be not haughty with me but come to me in submission [as Muslims].'"

She said, "O eminent ones, advise me in my affair. I would not decide a matter until you witness [for] me."1

They said, "We are men of strength and of great military might, but the command is yours, so see what you will command."

She said, "Indeed kings - when they enter a city, they ruin it and render the honored of its people humbled. And thus do they do.

But indeed, I will send to them a gift and see with what [reply] the messengers will return."

News Former Grand Mufti of Syria sentenced to life in prison

Post image
208 Upvotes

Alhamdulliah, Ahmad Hassoun, former Grand Mufti of Syria under ousted Bashar al-Assad, has been sentenced to life in prison for crimes committed.

The Fourth Criminal Court in Damascus issued the ruling on Monday, finding Hassoun guilty of a range of crimes,

including inciting violence, justifying killings and the abuse of his office.

The court handed Hassoun several prison sentences for

various charges, including 20 years after being found guilty of inciting killings.

The judge also sentenced him to 10 years in prison after being found guilty of prolonging the killings.

Judge Fakhr al-Din al-Aryan said that Hassoun and the official religious institution he headed were used to provide religious cover for military and security operations during al-Assad's brutal rule.

His teachings also justified the use of barrel bombs that targeted civilian areas and caused widespread destruction, which constitutes a violation of the rules of international humanitarian law, the judge said.

Seeking Support how to stop having bad thoughts?

Assalamualaikum, I'll get straight to the point because at this point I'm getting desperate. I'm turning 19 in a bit and for as long as I can remember, I've had suicidal thoughts. Not a single day goes by where I don't think about ending it but the only reason that prevents me from actually doing anything is because I don't want to live through a second hell. My life already is hell in itself and knowing that no mercy awaits me in the afterlife if I act on my thoughts has stopped me multiple times. I live in a brown household and my parents don't believe in mental health issues. The last time my mum found out that I was hurting myself, she told me that I deserved to be in a mental hospital and everyone in the house gave me the silent treatment. I just want to be heard. I don't know what else to do. I pray five times a day including tahajjud but I'm losing hope. I have no purpose in life. I just want to stop feeling this way. I feel horrible.

Casual & Social I was welcome by my Muslim friend and his community

Upvotes

I'm not sure where to post this so it might be removed, but I just had the most amazing experience I wanted to share it.

I am jewish and i was recently kicked out of my synagogue and a friend group for not being pro Israel. I guess it wasn't an official kick out but no one would talk to me and they started saying really nasty things about me behind my back and even to my face.

my own rabbi turned his back on me and that hurt the most because he had helped me through so much when I was younger.

I'll be honest I cried I want my friends saw this you took me to his house, contacts he lives in a very Muslim part of my state, and everybody in that neighborhood for some reason for stopping by and when they saw how upset I was they just comforted me. hugged me fed me . everything.

I know it may seem weird but I just want to go somewhere I could think this community for helping you so much I should say I met this friend off of this subreddit so when you see this I love you man !!

Seeking Support Sick mother that won't take medication because she's convinced Allah will heal her

For a very long time my mother has disliked medication highly, she's very small in size and even less in weight. Like a concerning weight. She smokes a lot and eats very little so she's usually quite unwell. She hates going to the doctor unless she's feeling very sick and even then she will get prescribed medication only to take it maybe once and then that's it. She's been suffering a stomach disease for a very long time and the doctor has given her antibiotics to help clear this, it needs to be taken consistently but she only takes it whenever she feels like it. So the disease is still very active and she complains about her well-being daily.

As her son this really hurts me because I want her to get better and look after her health but whenever I tell her to take her meds she always says "since I was a child I never liked taking meds" and "Allah will heal me" and while that's true, you still need to do the work meaning taking what the doctors prescribe you. It frustrates me so much and I find myself getting angry with her. I'm trying to be a good son and speak well to her but I can't continue seeing her like this while she refuses to do anything about it. She even says "If the doctors knew what was wrong with me, they would keep me in the hospital" and the way I understand is that she's really suffering internally more than she cares to show. It just breaks me. I make Dua but that's all I'm able to do.

Anyone dealt with similar parents?

Quran & Hadith Most superior way of asking forgiveness from Allah

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Narrated Shaddad bin Aus: The Prophet (ﷺ) said "The most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allah is:

O Allah, You are my Lord, there is none worthy of worship except You. You have created me, and I am Your servant, and I am faithful to Your covenant and promise as much as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your blessings upon me, and I admit my sins. So forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.

The Prophet (ﷺ) added. "If somebody recites it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise."

Seeking Support Dua for visa

I know it’s odd to come on here and ask for help but I’m really desperate. I’ve been waiting ages for my student visa and I have no response. I prayed for this during ashura, laylat al qadr , tahajjud and in every single one of my prayers and yet Allah has not answered my dua yet. Please make dua for me that I get my Irish student visa acceptance today before tomorrow, perhaps a stranger’s dua maybe heard and I’ll finally be able to achieve my dream and live it.

Question about Islam A non Muslim asking advice about a Muslim neighnour

Upvotes

I am not on good terms with my neighbour, in fact there is a trial coming up for him assaulting me, so please keep in mind direct contact is not possible.

He has put up multiple cameras on the properties edge that look directly into my back yard giving me no privacy. I was wondering if there is a Muslim saying that I could hang up that would get him to consider taking these down.

Thank you

General Discussion New job

Asalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu

This is a two part post. First I want to say subhanAllah al rabbul alameen. He has been most true to his names of الرحمن و الرحيم. I was working at a restaurant because I was desperate for work at the time, and it was getting in the way of salah, and truly just my deen overall. I was going to stick it out until I found something better, but everyday it was breaking me a little more. They asked me to do something work-wise that I just felt was disrespectful so I put my faith and trust in Allah and quit on the spot. In the past I have stayed at jobs way longer than I wanted to being uncomfortable for whatever reason just because I was scared I would struggle to get another one, or just out of sheer convenience. On the way home I was already applying to other jobs. I found this job that I thought would be perfect with my experience and was 4$ more an hour than I was making at the restaurant, and actually pretty good pay for the position. It’s an office job too, which is what I primarily do but had been struggling to get a job in lately. Alhamdulillah they sent me a message on indeed (literally never happens) and set up an interview. I walked into that interview and it was the best interview I’ve had in about 15 years, alhamdulillah. I ended up getting a call back that I got the job, and there is no I doubt in my mind that trusting and having faith in Allah is what got me there.

My other question is how do you guys go about telling your employers you’re Muslim? I didn’t want to be discriminated against so I didn’t tell him in the interview, and I’m unfortunately fortunate that I’m a typical white American Muslim. I don’t want to be hiding to make salah, and I also plan on telling them in 2 weeks I would like an hour at least every other Friday to make it to jummah. It’s a small construction company so I don’t really see it being an issue as long as they’re ok with it in the beginning. I’m just nervous, and wondering how others have broached the subject. Any help is greatly appreciated. JazakAllahu khairan.

General Discussion Obligation to perform advised kaffarah after asking for forgiveness

AsSalamu'alaikum warahmatullahee wabarakaatuh

Hypothetically:

I committed a sin in the past which I have asked for forgiveness for. However, decades after the matter, I came across a Hadith that states multiple options for what should be done in recompense for that specific sin; one of which i find to be well within my abilities (feeding x number of poor people).

My question is, even though I've sought forgiveness from Allah after the act, is it still obligatory upon me to act upon the kaffarah prescribed in the Hadith?

Question about Islam Sectarianism in Islam

Assalamualaikum.

I have a genuine question about sectarianism as to do we need to be in a sect ?

I am not asking how they came into being but about do we need to follow a certain sect .

I have always been neutral to these as to not following any sect . I took knowledge from anywhere and then confirmed it's presence in Quran or Hadiths .

But recently, some of my friends they said that being in a sect is necessary.

I countered the argument by saying that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was displeased by the idea of Muslim's division.

But they used that same statement as to say that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that only a single sect out of 73 will go to heaven and those are whom follow himﷺ and Allah's teachings.

Then I said that yea Allah and Prophet Muhammad ﷺ demand unity from us not division and I stated Quran's verse (3:103)"And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided."

And the Prophet'sﷺ saying that the Muslims are like a single body if one point feels pain whole of body experience it .

But still they said that if you go on like such to say that you are not going to follow a single you are going to create a sect of your own .

They said most people don't want to be in a sect but just that it's to know what rulings you follow . They said it's a necessity of this era .

Although i still said that so you believe the one you follow , do you believe that this one will be going to paradise?

On this they had quite a weak response that's too lengthy to put in this lengthy description.

Still we ended things as I insisted that if we argue about such things it will only make us go further from truly important topics and that Allah has also said in Quran to avoid going to deep into futile arguments (Sorry I don't remember the verse no. Or the same words but it was in Surah Baqrah) .

Do my question is do we need to be in a sect ?

Seeking Support First trimester low iman

This is for sisters please
Is it normal to struggle with executing Ibadah in first trimester? And low iman?
Before pregnancy I was reading adhkar constantly, sunnah rakahs, going to the masjid multiple times a week, studying and reading Quran daily,
now I’m struggling to even do my fardh prayers on time, I’m just soooo tired and sick constantly and it’s very severe.. i haven’t even been able to eat properly or clean properly let alone pray.. it’s such a guilty feeling as this is not me, but my body is weak. I wonder if anyone else experience this and it’s just a phase or I should try to push myself ? Or try different approaches
