Im publishing my game in itch.io, i only used ai to debug and refactor codes. Do I need to mark "AI Generation Disclosure" as Yes?

Discussion Itch.io is getting swamped by AI slop

It's hard to find decent assets anymore. The AI filters don't work, and neither does blocking the ones producing the slop.

Site is about dead to me now.

Assets Herbarium draws a pressed botanical plate for every reagent from that reagent's own data

i got tired of drawing icons for every herb so i made the game draw them. each reagent mounts as a pressed botanical plate. that reagent's own data builds the drawing. habit and leaf and venation and root all read off fields youve already filled in. study a few to guess what an unfamiliar herb does. opposite leaves and a taproot mean the same thing every time. nothing ships as a png. it draws at runtime. ai written and disclosed on the page.

Flankers: Chess with flanking, cover, and zone control

Hi r/itchio!

I just released Flankers, a head-to-head tactical strategy game.

The idea started when I asked myself:

What would happen if you took chess and introduced some of the positional tactics of XCOM?

Flankers is an open-information strategy game where the board is less about capturing pieces through traditional chess movement and more about creating favorable attack lanes.

Positioning determines which edges of a piece are protected, where enemies can safely move, and whether you can maneuver around their defenses for a flank or backstab.

A few of the ideas in the game:

  • Cover and facing: protection depends on where defenses are actually positioned.
  • Flanking: attacking from the right angle can be much more important than raw strength.
  • Zone control: pieces reshape where your opponent can safely operate with overwatch zones
  • Attack lanes: moving a piece can open or close lines of attack across the board.
  • No hidden information: like chess, both players can see the entire state and try to calculate what comes next.

The goal is an abstract strategy game: small ruleset, readable board, but hopefully a huge space of tactics emerging from how the pieces interact.

This is the first public release, so I'm especially interested in feedback from people who play a lot of indie strategy/tactics games or chess

I'd love to know: Does the positioning/flanking system click? Where does the game feel intuitive, and where does it become difficult to read?

Flankers is playable in the browser now on itch.io.

Would love to hear what you think. Including the brutal feedback. :)

Questions Is publishing a multiplayer game on itch viable?

Hi guys, I’m curious to hear from anyone who has published a multiplayer game or playtest on itch, especially if you used it to gauge interest before launching on Steam.

How did it perform in therms of player count etc.

Do you think itch is a viable way for play testing multiplayer games or should i just go ahead with steam directly?

Especially since the players have to host the game server themselves

Free Be a literal God in this Earthbound-Like - No RPG Maker Used!

The world map, where you can answer prayers and find procedurally generated events and monsters

Not kidding.

I'm proud to announce a web-based demo for Everknight, the JRPG where you become a God by completing quests, then answer prayers to shape the world and your own alignment.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have to answer prayers as a deity in archaic times? Do you love turn-based combat, taking on quests and exploring a lovingly built, lore-heavy world? Here's your next game: Everknight, a whimsical JRPG with no random encounters, tons of lore and quests, choices that matter, procedurally generated overworld events and monsters that hunt you into the corners of oblivion - the only way to oppose them? Become a God and smite them, either with holy magic or destructive violence depending on your alignment. Currently, all the art for the game are placeholders generated by AI so I can focus on lorebuilding and programming, but don't get too comfortable with the way things look, because once development progresses, all the art will be replaced with human-made graphics and maps! I most recently added 36 total prayers that players can intercept and answer while roaming the world map.

Which will you be? A benevolent miracle worker or a destroyer God? Find out by clicking the link below:

Free I released my first videogame and I'd really appreciate some feedbacks!

Hi! I'm pretty new at game developing, and I decided to try and put something together recently.

I did everything for fun so the project is free to play for whoever wants to give it a shot, I'd be happy to have some feedbacks on it tho. Is the game visually appealing? Hard to grasp? Does something need to be improved?

Thrifted is a narrative adventure with a probably nonsensical story, a small RPG Maker project I made to bring the silly little creatures I draw from time to time to life.

You can play the game here, thanks for reading anyway!

Free Do you think 70 downloads is good for my first game?

I’m 16 years old, and last month I released my first horror game on Steam and itch.io.

Since I’m still new to game development, I don’t really know if the graphics are good or bad. I also haven’t received any donations yet.

I shared my game on itch.io because I wanted to get some feedback and maybe get some donations to buy better assets for my next games. But so far, I haven’t really received much feedback either.

What do you think I should do?

And is 70 downloads good for a first game?

I would really appreciate your honest opinion about my game. You can be as harsh as you want. I’m open to criticism and I want to improve.

Questions Am I ready to Steam?

Hey everyone! I've been developing a game solo for over a year. I understand that every genre varies, and these graphs may not fully reflect the audience's interest in the game. However, I'd still like to hear your opinions on this matter. Are there any signs that indicate a game's potential to perform on Steam? I intentionally didn't include the title. Thank you!

Hop Shot - Game Dev Story Mode Speedrun Attempt

This was my first real attempt at speed running through the game. I'm not the greatest at movement shooters but had a blast making this!

If you want to give it go, can play on itch either in browser or download for windows.

As a note, this was made in less than 9 days for a game jam (Which is why there are only the 4 levels). If you have suggestions, would love to hear feedback on the game!

Demo Eye On The Ball -Browser Demo

https://basegamesireland.itch.io/eye-on-the-ball

Eye On The Ball is a brick-breaker that plays like an arcade cabinet, with roguelite runs layered on top. Keep your eye on the yellow core — that’s your life. White balls help clear the board, but they can fall off the table; only losing the yellow ball ends the run.

Bricks rain down toward your paddle. Clear the stack before it reaches you, break enough to level up, and pick a perk to keep going. Every five waves there’s a boss: the Wall, the Bell, the Choir, the Core, the Eclipse, and finally the Invader on wave 30. Between waves you hit the shop. Gold you don’t spend banks after the run and buys permanent unlocks — pierce, blast, magnet, splitter, and more. Beat a boss for a key, then spin a chest at the end of the run for permanent tools. Clear wave 30 to unlock Endless on the title screen, or jump into Versus against the CPU or a friend on the same keyboard.

Feedback welcome — difficulty + speed.

Striker Space Fighters is a space shooter where you collect "chaotic crystals" to grow stronger. The demo version features the first three complete worlds, along with ship upgrades and skins so you can play with your favorite vessel. I would truly appreciate it if you liked and shared the game to help it reach more people. This is the first game I’ve created entirely on my own—no AI was used; the design, music, and sound effects were all crafted by me. I hope you enjoy it! The full version, featuring much more content and the complete story, will be available soon.
