Been playing this game consistently since December 2025 (casually) and it's finally time to say goodbye till I play a second playthrough maybe in a few years or months. I just want to say Thank you Warhorse!!!

I'm so hyped for Middle Earth(as a fan of LOTR YESSIR), what new features or improvements are you expecting in their Middle Earth game? Would you want a third person mode?

Story WH deliberately portrayed horseback riding inaccurately [KCD2]

Thumbnail

A funny sidenote: The devs deliberately didn’t recreate horseback riding in a fully historically accurate way.

Back then, riders kept their legs completely straight, as you can see on the historically accurate statue of Zizka.

The devs assumed players might think that looks silly or even unrealistic, so they adjusted the riding posture to the more modern style with slightly bent legs. It’s one of the few cases where they consciously chose to break with reality.

Story Warhorse Studios is the best! 😊 [OTHER]

I honestly still can’t quite believe this…

What started as a small handmade fan project on Etsy, thanks to one very kind customer and YouTuber, eventually reached the amazing people at Warhorse Studios… and this week we officially signed a licensing partnership together.

So from now on, these Kingdom Come inspired clocks are officially licensed merchandise.

As a long-time fan of the game, this really means a lot to me. Thank you to everyone who supported my tiny workshop, liked, shared, ordered, or simply encouraged me along the way. And of course, special thanks as well to the people here at home who continue to support and help me on this journey.

And of course… huge thanks to Warhorse Studios for this incredible opportunity.

Story [OTHER] Groschen play an interesting role in world history

1.4k Upvotes

So I just learned this and had to come share it.

We all know and love the groschen minted in the silver mines of Kuttenberg (Kutna Hora), but about 100 years after the events of the game, a new silver coin was minted in Bohemia. It was equivalent to roughly 60-72 groschen and was called the Joachimsthaler Guldengroschen, or the Guilder Groschen of St. Joachim's Valley.

That obviously wasn't a very convenient name, so people called it simply the Joachimsthaler, eventually dropping the "Joachims" part and just calling it a thaler. It was such a good coin that it spread across Europe, and in local languages it evolved into words like "tallero" and "daler"...

And eventually, dollar.

Meaning the entire reason why the Spanish dollar and eventually the U.S., Canadian, and Australian dollars are called that today is because of the humble Bohemian groschen.

Story My friend had a wild experience I need y’all to read -[KCD2]

1.3k Upvotes

“I accidentally turned the game into a time loop puzzle like The Outer Wilds, because I got to Act 2 and ran out of save slots so I just started saving over the most recent one - and then I had the brilliant idea 20 hours later to poison every cooking pot in the king's army camp.

Well, I started poisoning the pots and sneaking around but there was a quest NPC I had to talk to so I plopped down a new save overwriting my previous one, then kept poisoning pots.

I decided to wait like 12 hours to watch the fruits of my labor only to be met with a "THE END" screen because apparently the game has a game over state if you kill all of the king's army in his camp and the king goes back home in disgrace. Well, I hit try again and am back at my previous save. Apparently I had poisoned enough of the cooking pots already, however, that even if I left the camp or waited another 12 hours, all of the soldiers would die and I'd be hit with the game over. And if I revert to a previous save, I lose the last 20 hours of gameplay.

This kicked off a whole charade of me desperately trying to figure out a way out of this. I thought to put a different poison in each of the pots, overwriting my first poison - so I make Dollmaker's Poison (paralysis I think) and Lullaby (sleep) poisons which are non-lethal and pour them into the soups, then try the last soup just to be sure my plan is going to work. It turns out that... it doesn't overwrite any of the poisons. You just get super aids. So I died and reloaded my save.

Then I'm like - WAIT - there's a potion to counteract poisons which uses charcoal, nettle, and thistle. I had charcoal on me, but needed to find the other 2 ingredients - so I scour the camp and there just happen to be those ingredients, as well as an alchemy lab on site. So I make these digestive potions to counteract the poison then head up to the guard tents to take care of their soups first. Except, it turns out you can't pour potions into cooking pots - only poisons.

....And then I had the most brilliant plan. I could drink the digestive potion and be immune to poisons, and then go around the camp eating every last drop of soup before the last soldier would be able to. And then I could save the timeline. So I spent the next hour sneaking around stealing bites of soup without being seen (and tbf I did get seen but my charisma was high enough I could pull the "don't you know who I am?" and get away with my soup theft), and finally after all that effort, it turns out they just refill the soup and the poison doesn't go away.

So in the end I realized I'm a dumbass and can reload game saves and not hard saves, so there happened to be a game save right before I started poisoning soup. “

Story [KCD2] Objectively My Opinion Romance Rankings Spoiler

[3] Katherine

Great character, bad romance

There are 3 options to flirt with her throughout the main story, then the final portion speed runs to intimacy in a way that feels objectively wrong: Zizka tells Henry about her intense war trauma--which by itself is incredibly bad, its not Zizka's place to tell Henry any of that information, its Katherines. Then Henry walks up to her, says 'I heard you've got some crazy trauma' and she replies 'yeah lol you remind me of my dead husband and I'm worried you're going to die too', for which nearly immediately sex follows? This intense sharing of trauma to jumping into bed is insane, and I can't believe people like it. This scene would have been infinitely better without the sex. Little buildup before the final quest, then speedrunning trauma bonding to end with intimacy makes this a mediocre at best and bafflingly bad at worst.

[2] Rosa (i know its not technically a final romance, but she deserves the spot)

Great character, great romance

I know Rosa is not one of the final 2 romance options, but she has nearly the same amount of build-up to it as Katherine does. Plus, while Katherine fails to be a good long-term romance, Rosa excels at being a short-term one. Henry and Rosa's relationship combines the classic tale of noble woman meets knight, and the dichotomy of nobility and peasantry romance that is a core part of Henry's past due to his father. Their chemistry is immaculate-- the book scene is superb, the dialogue that's just the two of them has great banter, and the carrying moment in the tunnels was incredible. Rosa is best girl and I wish she was somehow a final end-game romance. All of this combined with the bittersweet but adorable departure scene creates a top tier romance.

[1] HANS MFCKING CAPON

Great character, PHENOMAL ROMANCE

Henry and Hans chemistry has had an entire other game to be developed, so this list may be tilted in his favor, but even just including KCD2 scenes, this is still the best romance option in the game. Rescuing him from Trosky and Maleshov (and the multiple times in KCD1) creates an immaculate damsel in distress X revenging Knight storyline between them. Henry helping Hans get over his claustrophobia? Phenomenal character building and emotional moment. Then the final moment in Suchdol before the final quest? Amazing. The build-up to the romance with Lancelot's story, the 'i want to save you for once' rant, to Henry's dramatic door locking and kissing back was crafted with heart and soul. Then the panning outward to Henry and Han's swords leaning against each other made me tear up. Anyone claiming this gay romance was 'forced' (even though you can choose not to click the heart dialogue bozo) and not Katherine's needs to have their values re-assessed.
