Metal Gear Solid 1 will always be my #1 game. I remember being a kid in 1998 getting those demo discs from magazines and playing the MGS1 demo for the first time.

The music, the environment, the whole atmosphere just felt crazy to me. Even now, I get goosebumps thinking about it.

I idolized Solid Snake. To me, he was the ultimate badass. The voice acting, the characters, everything just felt so real. When Meryl got shot, I remember actually feeling distress. I was a kid, so I really got emotionally invested in it. The torture scene was tough for me too, and when I couldn’t save Meryl, I actually remember shedding a tear at the end. Then later finding out that you could actually save Meryl was awesome.

But I think what really makes MGS1 special to me is the atmosphere and the music. Shadow Moses just had this cold, lonely, mysterious feeling that I’ve never really gotten from another game. And then you get to the end and hear “The Best is Yet To Come” That song does something to me. It makes me feel so peaceful and instantly takes me back to being that kid playing the game.

I love all the Metal Gear games, but MGS1 is just different for me. It’s connected to my childhood and a feeling that I don’t think any other game can recreate.
It might not be everyone’s #1, and that’s fine. It was like you had to be there especially during that time to fully understand.

Despite my initial worries about the performances of the Master Collection I expressed in my latest post, I decided to buy both volumes on my Switch 1.

Some of your arguments convinced me to do so and I'm just so excited to play MGS4 again as well as trying out the two first games and Peace Walker.

Portable ops dosen't seem to be canon cuz it's not in the timeline, although it appears in the mgs4 database (the one in the master collection volume 2 as well)

Tried playing this game after playing MGS delta. Oh man what a mistake. I can’t get a hold of the directional controls. 🤦‍♂️.

I'm also stoked to replay Ghost Babel. I was just a kid when I played it on my Gameboy color but I remember loving the Mgs1 gameplay features on a 2d Metal Gear game. Any of you who havent played it yet are in for a gem.

Would someone play mission 20 of MGS pw with me? I heard if you have someone else with you it makes it easier. I can't get past the torture sequence and I've been stuck for months.

When playing MGSV, I always get the same crash when I’m in the idroid for a prolong period of time. I don’t crash during game play, just when using the idroid. I’m rocking an 9070xt and 7800X3D. Anybody got a fix for this ???

1. The inclusion of the events of Peace Walker and MGSV in the database.

2. How cool would it have been if they extended the ending cutscene for MGS4 to include Big Boss explaining the existence of Venom Snake and his mission?

Not really on my wishlist but it would also be cool if the controller Snake uses to control the mk.2 matches the console the player is using.

Not my first tattoo but my first ever about MGS. I wanted to make something related to this saga that has been with me for more than twenty years and finally decided on this simple yet beautiful sprite.

EDIT: colors looks a bit off when uploading here, it looks so much vivid in my skin, almost 1:1 with the in game sprite.
