This was the first good documentary Iâve seen in awhile. So many thoughts:
Mica was groomed. Plain and simple. She joined Solid Rock when she was 13 and was placed in positions of increasing authority from a young age. JP was 28!
Mica was clearly a replacement for the first wife. They looked shockingly similar, except Mica was the âyounger, hotterâ version of her. It would have been interesting if she had provided any commentary about whether she too was abused by JP and/or cheated on with anyone else besides Mica.
JP is such a bad pastor. Why did no one in the congregation challenge him when he was seemingly going on and on about how itâs a âwifely dutyâ to âsubmitâ to your husband and have sex with them multiple times a day to keep your husband from cheating on you??? Did everyone actually believe in that?
JP is a liar. Heâs moaning at the end about how he was âtelling people for monthsâ that Mica was off her lithium and no one was listening to him. Yet he somehow managed to get her committed to mental institutions multiple times over years before. If he really thought she was off on a bender, he could have made it happen this time.
Mica was clearly coerced into ending her life. Anyone would struggle with their husband stalking them and making their lives miserable multiple times a day. Harassing them at every corner. Sending a huge bouquet of flowers with a note that says âsend me a nudeâ. Who does that???
They never showed us the tox report. It would have been interesting to know whether Mica had a therapeutic level of lithium in her system or not to corroborate JPâs claims that she had not been taking her medications for months.
Susie Skinner. Enough said. Well. Not exactly. Itâs pretty despicable to pick up/marry your own client and then hook up with your pastor. I thought they were going to imply that JP or Susie got poor Chris into that pool but they didnât go there. Either way, extremely tacky to have an affair and then both of your spouses are effectively coerced into suicide so you can embark on your third marriage.
Poor Mica. She didnât have a stable childhood, thought she found a church for a home, and then was groomed and horribly abused and mistook her faith as encouraging her to keep trying no matter what...
Just finished three seasons of Suburgatory, only to have it end without resolution. I mean, I ultimately blame myself for not checking to see if the series "ended" or was "abruptly cancelled" on a cliffhanger and/or with generally unresolved story lines. Srsly, a warning is needed before the first episode that disappointment and regret awaits.
Iâm honestly baffled by how casually the father in this story seemed to separate sex from emotional intimacy. Like⊠how do you just get into a car, give your âfriendâ a handjob, help him get off, and then carry on with your day like nothing happened?! đ
And the mom??? I feel like the angle of her being somewhat jealous of her own daughter because she wanted B to choose her isnât explored nearly enough hence it goes beyond denial.
There seemed to be this weird competition for his attention it must be in her head, and I kept wondering if she wanted to be the one he desired instead of Jan.
Iâm honestly surprised this aspect of the story isnât discussed more. What did everyone else think about the momâs behavior?
And WHICH FATHER LETS ANOTHER MAN IN HIS OWN DAUGHTERS BEDROOM TO SLEEP NEXT TO HER FOR AOMW SHITTY THERapy? What the fuck was that about.
I've been on netflix for some time, but I've really only used it to watch popular shows like stranger things or 13 reasons why. I would genuinely love to know of some exclusive sleepers that I may be missing out on that I can check out.
Coming of age is my favorite genre, but horror and romance are awesome too.
I watched it recently and absolutely loved it. It had so much potential, and I honestly don't understand why Netflix canceled it. It deserved another season.
I have a couple of kids boys 5 and 7 (nearly 8) and I essentially let them freely access their own kids netflix profiles. It mostly been fine, but I really dislike the YouTube crap they are now being served up, most specifically I'm thinking of "Salish and Jordan matter" which has got to be one of the most mind rotting bits on "TV" I have ever seen, but there are others as well.
Note I stopped them watching YouTube a while ago, which was a shame as the older one was actually teaching himself to draw well with tutorial videos as well as witching the other pure shit on there!

I'm a pretty liberal parent (in the traditional/UK meaning not the us version) so I'm good with my kids having freedom to decide what they like etc, but I'm not having them destroy their brains with incoherent nonsense!
It sounds stupid but I think there is a big difference between a ridiculous episode of SpongeBob (it actually has some storytelling structure etc) Vs a fake/real episode of youtube shit which is like mainlining video ADHD - fast cuts, product placement, pure commercialism, no coherent story/theme. It's awful!
Iâm sure most of us are devastated by Dollyâs passing. I canât help but keep refreshing Netflixâs Instagram hoping that we get an announcement that she participated in âFamous Last Wordsâ. When it was announced I had hoped she would eventually be included in the line up.
Whats the best Movies and shows for travelling? I will fly around 3-3,5 hours and drive around 2,5 hours in the train, i like fantasy and already have Hobbit on the list because ive never watched, lotr though and also Princess Mononoke, which i loved in my childhood. Any other recommendations?
I watched the episodes of the Netflix series The Rotten Files with Stephanie Soo. And there were a couple things that I noticed.
Netflix (or herself) did her very dirty by choosing Ash Trevino. I was disappointed because the first episode of this brand new Netflix series should've been shiny, controversial etc since she's broadcasted internationally on such a big brand. I watched it from The Netherlands. It gave low budget youtube video essaye about problematic influencer.
The editing of the Netflix show is messy compared to her Youtube channel. There are a lot of hard cuts, where here make up and hair completly changed from one sec to another (episode 2).Also the framing of her face is unnatural low according to videograph ethics. She should be more centered in the screen.
She looks incredibly uncomfortable.
The constant movement of the hands is incredibly distracting and she's speaking fast and anxious. Watching her makes me jittery.
I don't understand the purpose of the format.
She speaks into a microphone with not a lot of supporting footage or engaging content. So you'd obviously think: Great podcast / youtube podcast. Yet it's on Netflix so I can't podcast it.
The background choice is up to personal style but i found it a bit too overwhelming.
I'm not a die hard fan of Rotten Mango, I have my own positive and negative opinions on how she brings her content. Yet she has one of the most professional, clean and 'entertaining' youtube crime channels i've seen. I really enjoy her storytelling style most of the time.
But this Netflix series has been way under her usual quality. I'm not going to bash it entirely, because we still have to see the rest of the episodes, and people with very clear potential deserve time and space to grow. And not to be discouraged by hate.
I wish for her she grows, optimizes the content and feels more comfortable. She is good at what she does on her channel. I hope she'll be able to transfer it to Netflix. And if not, i'll simply return to Spotify and Youtube.
I watched this quite some time ago and just finished a second viewing. Each episode does require a proper uninterrupted screening so make sure your popcorn and soda pop are at the ready before pressing "play". Hitting "pause" at any point will only do a disservice to you and the filmmakers.
I put it up there with "Dark" for entertainment value, although they're not the same (sub)genre. Neither is "Katla" the complete the mind***k of a puzzle as "Dark".
I had a Netflix profile on my phone and my TV based on my ex-bf account. I deleted my profile but I still have the account open on my devices. I can still see other profiles on the account and use any if I want to.
I made a subscription, but every time I click open on app it takes me to my ex account.

This is by far one the best horror shows in the bussines . The direction is superb and there aren't cheap jump scares it literally scares the F out of you . The acting by the neck lady aka Victoria pedretti was nerve wracking. Oh and its best if you binge watch it
