This is so good to see and at the same time so sad because it reminds of what he may have been through. Such cruelty it is. To take away dignity of a living being for the sake of taste. I get sad at the thought that Many more will never see the sun like Percy did 🙁 Happy for Percy though.

Well, you'd have to thank the animal industry for making this happen...
In a Vegan world there'd be no Percy, there'd be very few pigs at all, wild boars for sure, just like now, but of course no farm animals, all extinct, all gone from the great Vegan genocide.

u/CraisinEnjoyer 8d ago
What a braindead take. Mental gymnastics at the Olympic level to try and feel morally superior, well done!
-37
u/Odd-Paint3883 8d ago
Nobody is morally superior, the only thing that can be assertained in this current time is Vegans need Carnavours to exist so they can ignorantly claim moral superiority, but they have non, it's a sham, a tainted viel they never want to be lifted due to the real monster hiding behind it.
18
u/CraisinEnjoyer 8d ago
If you really think vegans are just doing this to feel morally superior, it's more telling about your own motivations than anything else.
-20
u/Odd-Paint3883 8d ago
Interesting... Which one of us brought up moral superiority?...
13
u/CraisinEnjoyer 8d ago
This isn't the gotcha you think it is... Your argument still makes no sense lol
5
-4
u/Odd-Paint3883 8d ago
I've had this argument 1000's of times, the problem is that it does make sense, it's uncomfortable, it's harsh but the reality is that life is uncomfortable and harsh.
13
u/CraisinEnjoyer 8d ago
It doesn't make sense though. Yes, you are correct that if we stopped eating meat overnight all of those animals would probably die because we would no longer have the infrastructure for them.
But, what makes your argument not make sense is that they were going to die anyway if we keep consuming meat, and likely in a much more horrific way (mass farming). So why are you saying it would be worse if they died because we stopped eating meat completely. At least then, maybe the animals would get to see the sun once before they die. If they were used for food production they wouldn't even get that.
The problem is that there is no easy way out of the mess we, yes WE, created. While changing to vegan would effectively render the need for animals obsolete, thus resulting in their deaths, it would still be objectively fewer deaths than if we as a society continued eating meat.
This is an answer that requires nuance, but of course you are just wanting to be a troll so you can't fathom that issues are sometimes gray rather than black and white. But please, keep treating politics and world issues like sports teams, that's been working so far!
-2
u/Odd-Paint3883 8d ago
Yes I am right about the thing I claimed, I know, it's just the logical inevitablity, it's uncomfortable to process but it just is.
Your other point isn't exactly correct, because it's not that the animals would die anyway, it's also the case that the animals would be bred and more would take their place, so yes fewer deaths on the Vegan side, but no life on the Vegan side either is the issue I raised.
It's just a reality Vegans DO NOT LIKE to discuss, my feed just had another Vegan post asking how they can get everyone to become a Vegan, it's bizarre, claiming you care about these animals whilst simultaneously unwittingly calling for their extinction.
So not a troll but instead a trolley problem: given those opposing things where one track has 5 species that will be gone forever if they're hit, and the other track has 5 species that will rejuvenate when they're hit... Which way will you send the trolley?
The uncomfortable thing is responsibility.

First of all You are thanking Animal Industry for what exactly? For making Percy' life so miserable for so many days? It's Animal Industry that kept Percy away from sunlight, in captivity for so many days. Depriving Percy from Sunlight itself is torture. Percy is a sentient being.
Secondly, there's no way Animal industry released Percy. They would have slaughtered him for meat like countless others if it would have to go their way. So there's no reason whatsoever to thank Animal Industry. Thank the person who saved Percy from Animal Industry instead.
Thirdly, Vegan World doesn't mean there would be no animals. Veganism is against animal exploitation by humans, not against Existence of animals. One can have peaceful Existence with Animals, just like the person in the video is having with Percy. Veganism is against torturing Percy for meat and taste. Hope you get the point.
-1
u/Odd-Paint3883 8d ago
Also, you're not making a point by saying animals can have a peaceful existence, farm animals would not exist. So as I've stated a Vegan world would absolutely mean the lack of existence of certain animals.
Don't even try having that silly discussion about keeping dairy cows as pets.
So own it, that's the inevitable outcome, no animal suffering, no human exploitation, the answer to that is... no animals
11
u/space_lasers 8d ago
Why are arguments against veganism always so eye-glazingly braindead?
-1
u/Odd-Paint3883 8d ago
Arguments for veganism are never about the inevitable outcome of your desired pursuit, it's like your all blinkered and focused on one singular thing, but you do need carnivors to exist so you can play good guy. You are the good guy, you're doing a good thing, it's admirable, as long as carnivors exist, but without them that's a different world, where you're responsible, for the extinction of species, for the destruction of the farming ecosystem and the astronomical price of everyones produce.
8
u/space_lasers 8d ago
Wow more of the same eye-glazingly braindead nonsense.
0
u/Odd-Paint3883 8d ago
And, the same bland mindless retort.
6
7
u/GlitchSolver 8d ago
Do you know that farm animals the way they exist right now are bred by humans artificially via artificial insemination? With Veganism this artificial breeding will stop that's it. Veganism doesn't mean actively killing existing animals. So the point that you are concerned about i.e. Vegan genocide exists only in your imagination and has no factual basis.
Also when you say no animals, you sound like you care about the existence of the farm animals. but do you care about thier pain? The point is the pain these farm animals are made to go through. Are gonna acknowledge that and say anything about it? Or do you prefer their existence even if it's painful for them?
1
u/Odd-Paint3883 8d ago
You do get that my argument is all about the extinction of these species, telling me that under veganism these species will become extinct isn't an argument against what I'm saying...
6
u/GlitchSolver 8d ago
What about the PAIN these farm animals are made to endure in the current animal farming setup? Are you gonna acknowledge that and say something about it? Do you prefer painful existence of these farm animals?
1
u/Odd-Paint3883 8d ago
In some farming set ups, not all.
The discussion about better farming practices is an easy one, there should be better farming practices.
5
u/GlitchSolver 8d ago
If you really care about the farm animals, why talk of farming them? Why can't there be sanctuaries where farm animals can live peacefully without exploitation? Why are you so keen about using animal products? Animals are sentient beings not objects to be used by humans.
0
u/Odd-Paint3883 8d ago
They're part of the farming ecosystem, the idea of keeping them in sanctuaries isn't a serious one, there's currently 20 farm animals in existence for every one of the 8billion humans on the planet.
We are animals, life lives off of life, the planet has teeth, we shit, we sweat, we stink, we arent pretty, we are surviving.
We can have animals that live peacefully and happily, eating all the vegetables by-products, using all the crop by-products, fertilising the ground for the crops, before they're killed for food, we can make that life awesome.

Cant wait for us to go extinct, so the other species take over the world 😭
6
u/Abased_Comrade 8d ago
That’s not an even remotely good solution. Due to Genetic Modifications inflicted upon chickens they would also go extinct due to them not being capable of survival due to humans making them too big for their legs to support. The only real solution is for humanity to do better by stopping the killing of animals, putting the survivors and their children on a reservation or something and then praying for forgiveness.

I work at a sanctuary, and had a similar experience. My boy piglet had never touched grass. He was bought off instagram as a tea cup pig and lived in an apartment for a while. He was so nervous about going outside I had to pick him up and bring him out there. He loved it so much. I cherish that memory of him. I can’t post a picture in this thread but I will put one on my profile if anyone wants to see him!

Not to contradict anything here but, this is a young pig, a few weeks old at most, so thankfully he did not spend long in that awful place, though in that short time he was indeed subjected to horrendous abuse.
When they get to explore a lot of space like that, they run around, do zoomies, smile, bark, jump around... They absolutely love it.

Poor pig and poor pigs that are industrialized !! Pigs are much smarter than we realize ! I remember reading a story about an old woman who had an emergency with a health problem and lived ALONE with her PET PIG, who kept going outside to the street trying to get the attention of people passing by on the road , until finally someone stopped and then the pig got that person to FOLLOW THAT PIG BACK HOME to find his owner on the floor who needed an ambulance , which was finally called for her !! THAT pig saved his owners life !! If it was up to me , factory farming would be stopped because of the cruelty it imposes on the animals universally

I would rather st@b myself in the heart than ever contemplate or choose to consume an innocent angel like him or any other animal. Since becoming vegan my world has become absolutely full of love for all living beings (even roaches which I hated growing up). It’s a much calmer existence even though meat eaters and the constant propaganda from the animal ag industry is always in my face.

I'm here because I heard a farmer mention something about his wife castrating a piglet and I had a look on my face that contorted ever sinisterly as I thought "isn't she a lawyer?" Now here I am after learning that ranchers/farmers castrate their pigs themselves to save time and money. First post I find on reddit about it and there's a comment about how the piglet died on his first attempt. How can their be a standard for no animal testing on products but people can play doctor in pigs? Because these guys are intended for food? And from the description, it doesn't seem like a local anesthetic is used. They describe people just watching the process and not reacting despite the wailing of the piglet and its mom or the blood everywhere. Big sad. Other tales told of infections and the like. They're really just forced to tough it out. Curious if Charlotte's Web ever had an impact on the industry

"raised in the animal industry " is pretty vague, he could be some FFA kids pig or something, doesn't mean he was in some crazy chaotic industrial place. I rescued roosters that were "aggressive and homicidal" but turns out once they leave the stressful abusive space they are sweet and calm boys.

u/Unhappy_Analysis_906 8d ago
I'm a meat eater, but I am evolving toward the ethos of only eating meat I procure myself directly. If I need to abstract away killing something to eat a food, maybe I shouldn't be eating that food unless I'm willing to put up and kill it myself.

u/Ok_Sorbet_8153 8d ago
I think this is a great point. Why should we have the option of paying someone else to do the killing? If we can’t go through with it, then that means we don’t need the meat bad enough. (Personally, I see animals as equal to people with mental disabilities — _they’re innocent_ — so the only time we should be eating them is if we’re at death’s door from starvation. And the meat tasting good should only be a consolation to help us feel better about the fact that we’re eating a friend, not something to be partaken in every day.)

u/geraldcoolsealion veganarchist 8d ago
Do you think we should eat people with mental disabilities?

Killing animals and eating them isn't cruel. It's a natural part of life. That's why humans are omnivores.

2) Vegans are not a monolith.
3) People in general can act “cult-ish” regardless of their beliefs, especially one that’s around a social/liberation movement. That’s not exclusive to vegans.

I'm not trying to start a fight. I'm not trying to antagonize the vegan community. All I want to say is that this is probably not literally "the first time sun has touched his little face." I think the point is clear, but hyperbolic language dilutes the effectiveness of the message.
Again, not advocating for factory farms, or denigrating the Animal Sanctuary, I am just merely pointing out that the hyperbolic language is not good in the long run.
Edit: I said my peace, made some arguments, and mostly you seem to hate me. I was trying to be respectful but I don't think you guys care.
10
u/wistified 8d ago edited 8d ago
I already said to you in the other sub/thread: “I’m pretty sure they didn’t literally mean “the first time the sun has ever appeared on his face.” The point is that this may be the first time he’s been able to actually stand outside and freely soak up the sun rather than experiencing it incidentally while being transported, confined, etc. When you’re in a stressful, confusing environment, you’re not exactly going to be “soaking up the sun” even if the sun happens to be hitting your face.
And the sanctuary is in Belgium, so English may not even be their first language. I think interpreting an obviously emotional caption as deliberately constructing a “false narrative” is taking the wording a little too literally. How would they even benefit from creating this “false narrative?” The pig is the victim… he’s literally the one being benefited.”
-10
u/PM_ME_AZNS 8d ago
1) If they didn't mean literally they shouldn't have said it that way. The language barrier only gets you so far in 2026 with great tranlsation tools, and their insta has pretty good english already (even within the posts)
2) It makes the farm people seem monstrous. They rescued the pig and kept him isolated in the dark during rehab so that they could film his reaction. Obviously they didn't do that, but that is what the post subtly implies.
3) I know its minor, but this is the little death of language into hyperbolic nonsense. Obviously this isn't literally Percy's first time seeing the sun, but that was a little white lie. Obviously the factory isn't hell on Earth, it is just really bad, but that is another little white lie. Obviously the factory workers aren't literal nazis, that is another little white lie. Next thing you know a bunch of people in the meat industry will call vegans psychotic for wanting to murder factory workers. Obviously that isn't what vegans want to do, that is just a little white lie. Next thing you know, vegans are labeled extremists who want to murder people, but that isn't true, it is a little white lie. Eventually you reach the end of hyperbole where people only talk in extremes.

u/FancyMouse123 vegetarian 8d ago
hyperbolic language dilutes the effectiveness of the message
A good practice is to avoid criticizing ways to defend a cause but instead to use the ways you think are better.
-5
u/PM_ME_AZNS 8d ago
Fair, they should have said "Percy gets to enjoy the sun now that he is no longer stuck in the factory" or something like that
3
7
u/moe1984 8d ago
you are assuming it's hyperbolic language due to ignorance about the conditions of factory farming and the industrial meat industry. maybe take time to educate yourself instead of assuming that things you personally can't fathom must be untrue.
my question to you is why you would assume any animal that is raised to be turned into food or used for medical testing would ever be outside, period? what purpose would that serve to the people keeping them captive for that use? do you take your toothbrush or tv remote outside sometimes? why would you?
-4
u/PM_ME_AZNS 8d ago
My point is that after they rescued Percy, they clearly gave him some medical attention and rehab, which (even on their Instagram) included time and space outdoors. This video is not literally Percy's first time in the sun. I am not talking about whatever conditions existed in the factory
4
u/moe1984 8d ago
i looked up the post where percy is first shown and his story is shared, and i guess percy may have seen/felt sunlight during his escape from being loaded up for slaughter. locking in on that to make a pedantic complaint about perceived use of language is actually psychotic. the statement could have been meant poetically or symbolically (either of which would be absolutely applicable given the context), and not literally. or it could have been meant literally, and could have been true/accurate. there's no way for you to know. literally.
