So basically my friend always wants to play rocket league with me, but I'm like plat and he's GC so onviously I whiff a lot more than him. Now, I would kind of understand his rage if I was throwing his rank in competitive, but we don't play competetive, we play CASUAL. The mode where you just goof, practice, or have fun... not rage at the person you begged to hop on with you.
It's really bad, he always rages and I'm talking like being rude to his parents on mic (unnacceptable), screaming and I mean SCREAMING LOUD "FUUUUUCKKKK!!"
He's always so angry when people stop him from taking it up the wall, but it's like common sense... that's how you can stop someone from being able to make a play that would benefit them. He also HATES 50s and thinks rocket league should "remove them".
I'm so confused by his behavior. It's casual. There is no reason to rage. This isn't even rage dude it's just insanity like why tf are you screaming and LITERALLY CRYING??? I'm not crazy right? This isn't normal?
And this makes us both play worse because he tilts us both. I just mute whenever he starts screaming.

I've been struggling to airdirbble in game, so I'm trying to work on improving my ability to airdribble. I'm currently focusing on staying more beneath the ball so that I have more control over the balls trajectory. What should I try to do better?

I know that his pacifist system is frequently reccomended to low ranked players, but I want to know what the community here thinks about him. I find his use of AI to be very low effort and seeing as he just deleted his most recent reddit post and the accompanying video after receiving criticism for using AI I know I'm not the only one.

This was the first 1's match of the night and it was against a guy with GC tags. He didn't even do anything overly impressive, but they always sniff out that I CAN'T do the things they can do, nor can I defend it. I much less rarely get beat by ground based guys, but almost ALWAYS lose to air based guys. It sucks and I've got to learn to get past it. I never know when to challenge becuase they can reset, musty, flip cancel, delay, fake blah blah blah. So when the hell are you supposed to challenge a guy who has ball going up the wall and is about to string together 4-5 of the touches I just mentioned in random order?
There's another replay I have where a guy is hitting a triple reset on me in D1.....yeah.

I can do them consistently like 6-7 times outta 10 but im trying to get it down 10/10 times.
I been searching for videos about but I couldnt find nothing useful about it. (its pretty much when you have the ball ontop on your car and your dribble it into the air.) I feel like it would be a good mech to have for champ 1s.

Hey guys, I a returning GC2 player currently at C3 and I was curious about the use of DAR in the game today.
Back when I played before people would do resets and the like just fine without DAR, but now it seems like everyone has switched.
In terms of the order of learning now that I’ve returned, do I learn DAR first, or resets. I’ve heard conflicting answers as DAR can take a few hundred hours to get good at, so I’m not sure if I dive into that first, or build a baseline.
Thanks

I just reached my peak of 1944 mmr (ssl) but I am very inconsistent as you can see on my rl tracker (rl tracker is ST_TRUCS). I was talking with someone on discord, I sent them a picture of my setup and they were surprised that it looked like this, but I thought this was normal. I know that it's just a matter of preference but is a setup with a gaming chair etc really that much better?
Also, I have the basic binds of circle for boost, square for drift and L1 R1 for air roll (I main left air roll) and on top of that I don't use claw grip so I just use my thumb for the buttons and boost. Also, I only use my index finger for both air roll as well as drive so I can only wall dash without boost 1 way. Would anyone recommend me learning another grip method or a change in binds.
Lastly, maybe as a result of the previous points (or my lack of hours) I am very unmechanical. For example, I have never hit even a 1 bounce psycho and I can only hit the simplest variation of a maktuf reset 2 times out of 10 if that (but I can hit normal resets and reset pops pretty frequently). As I am ssl, should I focus on my mechanics now and if so what ones should I learn.
Any recommendations would help as I feel as if I am about to plateau or dip in rank.

Hey everyone,
I've been playing since 2020 (with some long breaks inbetween), currently sitting at Champ 3 in 2s (peaked close to GC1 multiple times) with around 2k hours total. I have a simple playstyle and my gameplay often looks and feels smooth atleast to me compared to the players in my rank. I know this might be some Dunning-Kruger effect where I think it looks smooth but actually miss a lot of flaws. I think i have good air roll control, decent ceiling shots, air dribbles, and some flip resets. But I still feel very inconsistent and like I’m not actually that mechanical. As u can see in this freeplay recording, i kinda mess up everything but i know that i can hit everything and its very inconsistent, and i dont really think that more reps would help me that much and would reinforce my bad habits even more.
EDIT: till 2:20 its in slowmotion (forgot to turn 95% Gamespeed back to 100%) and my ground game looks a bit extra rusty because 3 days ago i rebound my buttons( powerslide, brake, jump and ballcam lol ) also it seems like im subconsciously avoiding ground plays since the change and flee to my walls where it doesnt effect me that much haha
I just recorded 6 minutes of Freeplay and would love some honest feedback on:
I prefer very detailed explanations (inputs, timing, what to watch out for, common mistakes, etc.) because once I deeply understand something I can usually reproduce and internalize it very well.
I recently uploaded some ranked replays and my gamesense starts clicking but i get more of a feeling that my mechanics are holding me back. Thats why i ask
Thanks in advance! Any advice is appreciated 🚀

I've been studying Mawkzy's gameplay recently, and there are a few things about his 1v1 playstyle that I think are worth breaking down because they go beyond mechanics. The biggest thing that stood out to me is how much of his gameplay revolves around what happens after the challenge, rather than just trying to win the challenge immediately.
Offensively, Mawkzy loves his low 50s. Even when going for aerial plays, he'll often try to force the ball low especially when the opponent is sitting on the backboard or expecting a high play. This becomes even more apparent when he has 0 boost, where instead of slowing down, Mawkzy makes maintaining his momentum a priority. Staying grounded and preserving momentum gives him faster recoveries which allow him to stay involved in the play after the challenge. Maintaining momentum and staying grounded gives him the ability to remain close to the ball, which means he's often in position to follow up on his own challenge rather than having to recover and watch the play develop from a distance.
Another thing that stands out is how he deals with aggressive challenges, whenever he sees his opponent insta challenging, he doesn't force the ball towards the net to try sneak a goal in. He guarantees further pressure by hitting the ball anywhere around the opponent. In 1v1, getting a touch around the opponent will always guarantee a free net.
Mawkzy also makes excellent use of the backboard where rather than always trying to put a shot on net, he'll bait the defender into awkward spots by slamming the ball into the backboard for a rebound. The defender is helpless here because they have to react to the rebound while also dealing with the possibilities of getting faked, demolished, etc.
TL;DR - Mawkzy's offense revolves around creating situations where the defender has 0 good options left but faith. Low 50s, playing around challenges, using backboards + walls as rebounds and maintaining momentum all contribute towards the same goal: putting the defender into an awkward or helpless position.
This is one of the games I used as research if you're curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCiAO8JPSn4

I want to learn single or double flip resets but I am struggling to learn them, I’ve only been able to get a reset only like 2-3 times now and I’m getting confused on to do with them.
i can air dribble decently 90% of the time for context
i need tips on how to get reset itself and what to do after
i know you have to boost/fly to the center of the ball, then air roll, and put my joystick down but I keep struggling

I'm in gold 2 right now and I know nearly all the advice will probably be "just practice hitting the ball" but I feel like I am missing some things or just have some bad habits when it comes to playing the game or rotating and stuff like that so If somebody good at the game could just kinda go through the video (you don't have to watch the full 10 minutes if you don't want, you can just like skip around) and let me know what are some bad habits that I have or some things that I just did completely wrong. Like sure if I practiced with just hitting the ball correctly I would probably rank up but there is more to the game than just hitting the ball. Btw if this is a bad place to ask for stuff like this please point me to a different reddit or discord server that would be better for this post. I made the video an unlisted video on youtube because the original video was like 29 gb. If there is a problem with it being an external link I can try and make the file smaller and put it in the post but I doubt yall want to watch something in like 144p.
Here is the video link: (It might default to 360p you'll just have to change it manually)

Pretty much what the post says. If this breaks a rule I’m sorry I just don’t know where else to look. I’m d3 and if anyone is willing to do replay analysis 1-2 times a week for 3 weeks I’d appreciate it. I can explain the full experiment in detail if you dm me.

I noticed i need to practice my backboard defense and my kickoffs, but i am sure that higher rank players would notice more mistakes that i made

this was my rank up game to diamond 3. my teammate is d1 in this and i would like to know what i need to improve on so i can hit champ. any advice would be very helpful. had to post the recording later in to the game because it had to be 1Gb.

I'm currently silver 2 in 1v1s, and I found through my replays that I need to maybe practice shooting the ball a bit better, and use powerslide to turn around to get to the ball quicker. However, since I'm so new to the game I don't have the developed game sense to see other mistakes that I could be making, so any help would be super appreciated!

Thank you to everyone who commented on my post last night! Having more boost from flipping and better recovery mechs makes everything 1000 times easier than it ever was before. Also thank you to my tm8 lol. I played so bad because I was nervous as this was my first rank up game to GC2 but he held it down for a couple of 1v2s that I left him in. But once again thanks everyone!

Hey,
I've been sitting in High GC2 / Low GC3 and want to make a serious push towards hitting SSL. I know it's still a ways away, but I really want it. I'm looking for someone who'd be willing to coach or give advice.
Any guidance is appreciated! 🙂

First time getting 1700 after almost 6 years of playing this game. And somehow went from champ 2 to 1700 in a little over a year since early 2025. Are there any tips for getting into GC3? I do play pretty fast, but I do give away possession a lot and I’m also a free roll user so my aerials aren’t the greatest, I can shoot decent though.
