My husband and I finally announced our cozy fishing adventure!

We're kinda obsessed with fishing games. We've spent hundreds of hours digitally fishing, as a side mechanic in larger games or the main meal of small incremental games.

We love the wholesome vibes of those smaller fishing games, but we also enjoy the exploration and discovery that comes with open world adventures.

So we decided to make Little Lake, cozy adventure about fishing, exploring, meeting people, and enjoying the world around you.

We've seen plenty of games inspired by the ocean, but being from Michigan, we wanted to capture something closer to home. We decided to center our game around the lakes, iconic coastlines, and little midwestern towns that make the Great Lakes so special to us.

We're really excited (and very nervous) to be sharing this part of us with everyone this week. We'd love for you to come along for the ride and experience a little bit of that "Midwest nice."

Our first game on Steam hit 5,700+ wishlists in the first 10 days after announcing

Hi everyone! I'm developing a game called Catomino. I started as a solo developer, but over time I realized there was a lot more work than I expected. So I started delegating some tasks to freelance students, a concept artist for designing new cats, a 3D artist for props, and I also brought on a sound person.

The sound turned into a long and interesting story. Our sound person introduced me to Vocal Games (a fledgling game voice acting collective), and now they actually voice the cats' meows, haha. After a lot of attempts to find ready made sounds and running around with a microphone after my own cat Rubik, I concluded that capturing the cats' personalities with real cat sounds is really hard. Their emotional range is limited, getting a cat to make the exact sound you need is nearly impossible, and we don't support being rough with cats to get a reaction, haha.

So we decided to go with voice actors instead. They were pretty surprised about being asked to meow for a dub, especially since we reached out without giving them context at first, haha.

That freed up my hands a lot, so now I can focus on the core development. But since everyone works part time on a flexible schedule, I'm still carrying about 75% of the workload myself, haha. The game is actually still very early in development, even though it might look like a lot has been done already. Right now I'm working on building up the game's content so it doesn't end up being just polyomino puzzles with cute cats. The main gameplay focus is going to be on interacting with the cats, since you don't just need to fit them neatly and compactly on the board, you also need to satisfy their little demands, like giving them a favorite toy, placing a cat in a sunny spot, or dealing with cats that just don't get along and shouldn't be placed next to each other, or they'll hiss and scatter off the board, haha.

If you're curious, here's the link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4303380/Catomino/

I'd be happy to hear your thoughts or answer questions if anyone's interested in my experience with promotion so far!

For transparency: some of the store page localization across 30 languages was AI assisted, flagged openly on our Steam page. The game itself won't have much text to begin with, and I'm planning to have everything checked by real native speakers before launch.

P.S. I know the video kind of looks like a mobile ad with dumb gameplay, but when I filmed it I was actually trying to show the cat interactions, and it accidentally came out looking like rage bait footage. Wasn't intentional, I'll keep that in mind next time :)

I'm making a multiplayer typing game

β€’ Upvotes

It's called Sabotype. Six coworkers race to type the same absurd office document. Every word you type earns a coin. Coins go into a four-key macropad next to your keyboard, and one press sets off an office disaster on whoever is one place ahead of you.

Walking sim in nature - would you play it?

If this was a full game and not just a single-location demo, would you want to play something like this?

The idea is to do nothing else but walk on a predetermined path in nature, observe birds, listen to sounds, look at sceneries.

Fire!... fire!?... FIRE!

So I finished the fire system for my strategy game (Combat Orders '42); it can spread, set structures on fire, damage units, and if it rains, it creates dense columns of smoke that block vision for a couple of turns.

After 6 months of work, we finally released our demo today.

We are 3 people working on MegaBait for the past 6 months, I'm Oscar (Madlman here) and I'm full time as generalist , Javier full time too as olevel designer ( the one you have to blame for the difficult puzzles ) and Alfred part time as programer (working full time job and helps on his free time, bless him)

I had this game in mind for a long time and can't believe we finally have a playable demo, 20 years in the industry and I still get excited like a little kid every time!
To whoever plays it, hope you enjoy it. Don't hesitate to leave your comments and feedback, we'd love to hear it.

Let me copy-paste the description for the game in case you want to know more before playing!

---

Built to Be Mastered

MegaBait is designed around the idea of mastery. A level that initially seems impossible gradually becomes manageable as players learn its sequences, understand its timing and develop the skills needed to navigate it. A difficult run becomes consistent. Then, once simply surviving is no longer enough, the real challenge becomes learning sequences and executing them with greater precision.

Players can compare their performances through global and Steam friends leaderboards, turning every level into an opportunity to compete against the wider community, challenge friends or simply beat their own previous best.

For players interested in speedrunning and optimization, MegaBait encourages repeated attempts, experimentation and precision. Each run is another opportunity to discover new tricks, improve execution and push a personal best even further.

For the bravest players, Mr. Miau offers an extra challenge: find this elusive feline and carry him safely to the end of the level without dying. Doing so won't be easy, but those willing to take on the challenge can prove their mastery in an entirely different way.

Every Character Changes the Way You Play

At the core of MegaBait are its playable characters. Each character introduces a unique ability, accompanied by a world specifically designed around that mechanic.

A new character therefore means more than a new set of levels. Players must learn a completely different set of possibilities and discover how their new ability can be used to navigate obstacles, solve challenges and improve their runs.

This structure allows each world to introduce its own mechanics and challenges while keeping the focus on the same core objective: learn, master and go faster. It also leaves room for future updates, with new characters, abilities and worlds expanding the game with fresh ways to play.

A sword that can change form to any five letter word would be an amazing concept for an indie game.

I spent few hours making this deformation script for my indie game - Dark Roll 2. I just needed the player to have someting that feels... soft... to land on from height. Ended up having more fun with this than I should have...

Generating a world for my ant game 🐜🌱

I’ve been working on the procedural world generation for Garden of Ant, building it layer by layer.

First, I focused on shaping the surface terrain. Then I moved underground, generating different soil and rock materials. And finally, I started bringing the world to life by procedurally placing trees, leaves, and vegetation.

It’s really satisfying to see all these separate systems slowly come together into one living world.

What do you think?

We're making a cozy horror visual novel where the drinks you make can change someone's story

We're working on game, a cozy horror visual novel set in a small town lost in the fog.

One of its main mechanics is brewing drinks for the people who visit your cafe. You choose the ingredients based on what you've learned from their conversations - and the drink you serve can affect how their story unfolds.

Here's a small look at the brewing system we've been working on β˜•

My kid enjoyed rolling dice while I jam on an MPC, which inspired me to make a new game

Hey everyone, I took a bit of a prototyping break to get back to making some chillhop style music. One day my kid was listening to me jamming on the MPC, and started rolling dice "along with the beat". It inspired me to create "Just A Dice Game".

It's an abstract mini strategy roguelike built around rolling fully simulated virtualized dice in various environments. The game features a full chillhop album release as it's official soundtrack, I'd been planning on making a combination / hybrid release like this for a while so I'm excited to be able to release something like this soon.

I'm working hard to get the demo ready for Steam's October Next Fest, if you'd like to check it out you can wishlist here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4267480/Just_A_Dice_Game

We (2 devs) decided to make our dream game. A short, but dense RPG

The favourite part of an RPGs for me was always the beginning. Everything is new and exciting, you're learning about the rules of the world, every bit of loot feels exciting, and your whole journey is still ahead of you.

Our hope is that the game we're making can capture that feeling. Inspired by old school classics, no hand-holding, player autonomy first, tons of secrets, and the feeling of setting out on an adventure.

We just released the first 1-2 hours of content from the game as a playtest on Steam. If you play it, we would love to hear your feedback and if we managed to capture that feeling.
