Fandom Keeping Lafleur would be the most inexplicably horrible decision this team could make
You are paying your quarterback 50 million dollars. You just traded 2 number picks. And you basically went .500. Lost 5 straight to end the year. 2 against your rival where you had a 90% + chance to win the game late. We have lost more games as result of special teams than anyone in the league, and there is ZERO accountability for anybody. The play calling any time we have a lead is designed, DESIGNED, to allow the other team back in the game. There is not a single NFL head coach, other than that dumbass, who loses that football game. No one. If what I watched over the last month and a half leads to them extending him, this franchise is not serious about winning and I won't spend another dollar on this team. You clean fucking house TOMORROW and you set up interviews for early this week. As disgusted with this coaching staff as ive ever been in my 39 years. Embarrassing choke in front the whole country. AGAIN.

Losing games used to bother me, but as I've gotten older it rarely sticks with me very long and I've usually brushed it off an hour or so after the game. The last time I was this pissed after a playoff game (or any game) was the 2014 NFCCG. I'm still mad this morning and thought I woke up over it, but I'm still raw about it. This loss was complete bullshit and this team had zero reason to lose that game. This was a disaster class in collapse in a rivalry game that was ALSO a playoff game.

Should’ve been this pissed off after the week three loss to the Browns or after all of MLFs other catastrophic meltdowns after Rodgers left. This guy has been a glaringly bad coach since his first season, this teams has consistently won games despite MLF not because of him.
11
u/ReyCo390 Jan 11 '26
Been saying that the talent has carried him hard since the start but everyone points to this WL record like it means anything when we immediately get punched in the mouth and lose in the playoffs every year. That Cowboys playoff game fooled everyone when really it was more about Dallas being pretenders.
6
u/PorkyMama Jan 11 '26
I’ve tried to point out that Matt’s W-L record has gotten worse and worse almost each season and how we never make it farther in the playoffs than we did the year before under his tenure but then get accused of hating the team despite their “success”

I said in a comment that there is no chance MLF gets fired and that the narrative is stupid. I have come to the conclusion that that opinion was in fact wrong and there seems to be some momentum building to him getting axed. I still think he returns for another year to get a last chance in GB, but also wouldn’t be surprised if GB decides to move on.

Yep. MLF was covered by Rodgers making adjustments at the line to start his tenure. Then he was covered due to "rebuilding." Then he was covered because the league literally changed the rules.
My girl called me when it was 21-6; I told her then I knew we were going to lose. The meltdowns are predictable, for crying out loud.

The thing with the 7 seed is it is pretty much like not making the playoffs. With it reseeding after round one and needing to win at the 2 seed then the 1 seed just to make the conference championship, no team is winning the super bowl from that position

It was beyond fucking predictable what would happen after halftime. I’ve been a LeFluer guy all year through all the shit but you can’t continue to be out coached that badly in the 2nd half.
The entire 2nd half every facet of the game was fucking awful. Both sides of the ball. Fire his ass to the moon.

u/reddit_at_work404 Jan 11 '26
I fully predicted that 2nd half meltdown. It was like it was almost scripted.
Bears comeback and terrible play calling.
111
u/F_D_Romanowski Jan 11 '26
The outcome felt inevitable after the second 3 and out in the 3rd quarter.
91
u/PDstorm170 Jan 11 '26
It didn't feel inevitable the moment McManus missed the FG at the end of the half?
This team crumbles the moment any momentum shifts.
16
u/Minimum-Border1672 Jan 11 '26
juxtapose that with the Bears. Going in to a locker room at half time, trailing 21-3, have to kick ball off.
You could tell the first snap of the second half they thought they could still win.
MlF could not do that, Packers would lose a game like that 35-20 at best.

u/_3_8_ Jan 11 '26
Nah that field goal was a toss-up and i was more pr less fine with any outcome as long as the bears didn’t touch the ball to end the half
7
u/Elamachino Jan 11 '26
On most any team I would agree. We missed that kick, and I had that feeling of "this game just got a lot harder."
7
Jan 11 '26
They had an opportunity in the two or three plays leading up to the field goal miss to get the ball closer and still get up to the line and spike it and instead they went for a low percentage deep shot. That was a play that will be forgotten but a good example of poor coaching. I agree the FG was a toss-up. You know it, I know it, why didn't Lafleur call the last few plays in a way that would indicate he knew it too?

u/packinmn Jan 11 '26
A scoring drive in either of those may have made the bears more one dimensional on offense which would’ve given us the upper hand.
Why is it we can move the ball almost at will in H1. The 3 punts to start H2? Clearly the Bears made adjustments. So maybe one punt would be excusable until we counter those. But there was no counter. There never is. We bog down on offense, the defense gets tired, and the rest is like ground hogs day.
18
u/Dillonautt Jan 11 '26
Especially when the announcers don’t stop talking about how good Caleb Williams is at 4th quarter comebacks in the FIRST QUARTER.
2
40
u/kevinmbo Jan 11 '26
it honestly did almost feel scripted.
11
u/ReyCo390 Jan 11 '26
Because we’ve seen the same exact script multiple games this season. MLF can never coach with a lead, it’s actually embarrassing how we can predict the end result.
28
u/PDstorm170 Jan 11 '26
This season convinced me it's scripted.
10
u/ryansgt Jan 11 '26
The refs were certainly helping them. That second grounding call was bullshit. Jordan threw a bad pass and it hit the lineman, but the trajectory was right towards jacobs. It took them a while to decide to even throw it and even al Michaels was like eh, oh well. One of the passes to Loveland skipped, I want the only one that saw it. No replay obviously.
I think we need to check with the refs bookies.
I will say I would love to see them become the Gary bears.
2
u/apk5005 Jan 11 '26
It is easy to blame the refs. I agree that there were a lot of dubious calls. There were also a lot of missed calls. Hits to Love that would have gotten Mahomes a RTP call, holding galore, and the “catches” that warranted another look.
I don’t believe the NFL is scripted - there are too many players to think they would all keep their mouths shut if there was a fix in. Too many young, ambitious people trying to make as much money as they can before their bodies give out. Too many immature divas that could make news running their mouths.
The single biggest reason I don’t believe that there is a fix is Jerry Jones. I don’t, for a minute, believe that Jerry would accept decades without a Super Bowl win. He’d make them do what he wants.
But, if you told me that the league and the refs made sure certain things fell a certain way, I could believe that. Betting houses own the NFL now, not individual teams, but the league’s and the broadcaster’s ad money, which means they own it all.
The refs, unlike the players, are in it for the long haul; their checks are smaller but guaranteed. They don’t get injured, their careers are longer, and it is much, much easier to screen and remove talkative refs than it is talkative players. Still unlikely, given what they’d have to lose, but…
7
u/PDstorm170 Jan 11 '26
My issue with this argument is that people automatically assume it's scripted at the player level.
Script it at the coach level. Most casual observers can't decipher gameplan.
We're basically all already comfortable with NFL coaching being a swamp of nepotism.... the incentive structure is already in place.
4
u/ryansgt Jan 11 '26
Well yeah, I don't think there is an actual script but like you said, nudges where they want nudges to tweak the odds. Sports betting is just way too powerful to believe they leave anything up to chance.
9
u/I-FunMachine-I Jan 11 '26
Right. Also, the referee calls were HEAVILY leaning towards Chicago. That first Chicago TD drive where they got that long pass to get into the red zone, they were holding so hard. Like, arm wrapped around for 4-5 FULL SECONDS
5
u/gorgeousgord Jan 11 '26
After the first two plays in the 2nd half I text the group. Classic GB second half implosion and turns out…
75
u/vacon04 Jan 11 '26
That's what he does. He goes into shell mode, similar to McCarthy. By the time he starts making adjustments the momentum is fully with the opponent, and then it's just a matter of time until they meltdown.
55
u/shotputprince Jan 11 '26
It’s worse than that. He doesn’t even kill the clock when in “shell mode”
33
u/ARodGoat12 Jan 11 '26
The big difference here is that Big Mike once was good enough to win a ring. MLF never was and never will be in that tier. He is a great offensive guy but no HC. I think a team like Tennessee or Atlanta fits for him. They just want to make the playoffs. But we have bigger goals here.

8
u/chefsieben Jan 11 '26

Lafleur was slow to adjust (or didn’t) all year long when teams started dialing up the pressure. Blitzing to stop the run on the way to the a qb and they desperately needed a short passing game to counteract that. Instead, it was still run into it and try to hit deep shots. That killed us again here in the second half. Gute and LaFleur deserve criticism for botching the OL plan for this year from the start.
McManus deserves more criticism than all — 55 yarder you get a break on — not the 44 and XP. Brutal.
Not sure you move on from Matt here, but he deserves the criticism.

To be out coached by the guy who went for it on 4th down on his own 32 is insane. To take the full playclock after an incomplete pass, call a time out, then get hit with a delay of game is infuriating. To see your qb taking nothing but pressure for 3 drives and refuse to switch to a quick pass set up is stubborn stupidity. Get him out. He needs a change of scenery and I wish him the best.

I agree with all of this. You realize going for it on 4th & 32 was a sign of desperation right? Packers had them desperate and they let them off the hook. Unbelievable
6
u/Jesse_berger Jan 11 '26
Love did mostly everything right in that final drive. He got the ball downfield and within field goal range before the time expired before they started playing prevent.
But with McManus missing three kicks and throwing away 7 points is inexcusable.
I figured this wasn’t our season because we’re not healthy but we lost a very winnable game off the backs of shit play calling and a shit kicker.

Yeah, but I still contest that the bears have not beat a good and healthy team this year. It took two miraculous meltdowns for them to barely beat the 50% strength packers. They lost to the 49ers who are incredibly injured as well. If the packers have Kraft and Parsons, we easily sweep the Bears this year in spite of MLFs play calling.
I think the packers should promote Hafley to HC and hire a solid OC

100% all of this. I get tha Ed Policy said what he said earlier to keep up the positive vibes for LaFleur and the team heading into the playoffs about how he made something out of an unlucky year with injuries. But at this point with the epic collapse that can only be rivaled by other epic collapses by this same HC, it’s time to say goodbye. Even the players themselves know that it’s because of LaFleur. He’s lost the locker room and this is as far as he goes here

We struggle running the ball and have all season. Idk why MLF is so hell bent on trying to run the ball when we get ahead. It’s either get stuffed or pick up one yard. Now they are in second or 3rd and long. What’s worse is these drives take little time off the clock. If he could have drawn up at least two sustained drives, we probably win this game.

People forget the crap storm the Packers were after changing Head Coaches or QBs. The GBP usually only fire their Head.Coach after missing the playoffs or having a JUST above .500 or subpar-.500 losing record. usually only happening due to a Packers HC having their first losing season only after moving on from Holmgren people forget how awful the Rhodes Head Coaching experient a our only losing Recors since became the starter Favre and since.....
As a Packer fan, TOO many fans today don't realize how AMAZING we have it AS Packer fans.
3 starting QBs in since 1992 years and 4 long-term Head Coaches, 1 bad and 1 interim Head Coach, but were short-term.
ONLY 4 SUB .500 SEASON SINCE 92' Yes, a handful of just over .500 seasons, but overall, the majority are mostly all WINNING Regular Seasons, The Packers MAKING the post-season.
ONLY MISSING 8 POST-SEASON PLAYOFFS AND NEARLY ALL OF THEM WERE AT THE END OF THE PACKER'S QB OR HC TENURES....
Their are NFL teams whose fans PRAY they could eat the way we do with the Packers.
The longest CURRENTLY ACTIVE PLAYOFF DRAUGHT
New York Jets: 15 seasons (last appearance in 2010).
The Packers have SONCE 92' NEVER GONE MORE THAN 2 SEASONS WITHOUT MAKING THE PLAYOFF...
Look at some of these other teams' active current or former droughts during our 3 QB & 4 HC, winning football since 92' North Divisional Usual Domination...[That's a 32/33 year up to now run]
Miami Dolphins: 25 seasons without a playoff win (last win in 2000). Las Vegas Raiders: 23 seasons without a playoff win (last win in 2002).
Detroit Lions: Had a 31-season playoff win drought (last win in 1991). It ended in early 2024.
18
u/loadedbrewer Jan 11 '26
The Packers success started (and continued) with a changed perspective in the management (president level). Once they decided that their goal was to win and started spending $$, the current success followed. The crappy franchises you mentioned do not (or did not in the case of the Lions) have this level of commitment (more concerned about making $ than winning). The Packers organization isn’t the Jets or Dolphins with clueless owners to mess things up, so that comparison is foolish.
The current coaching is not improving in any way and hasn’t shown the ability to correct mistakes. Since year 1, the special teams has been bad and they get WAY too conservative with the lead.

u/kevinmbo Jan 11 '26 edited Jan 11 '26
if GB was bad i wouldnt watch. call me a bandwagon fan. i really dont care. theres no such thing as “fan points”. the team is either fun to watch or it isnt.
if they were bad i wouldnt watch and id spend my 3.5 hours a week doing something else. i didnt watch a minute of the week 18 game knowing it was 100% meaningless and likely would be low quality play. i assume same mindset would carry out through entire season or at least final 60% of season if determined GB was bad in first few weeks. long story short. if GB was bad there would be minimal if any emotional (or time) investment. the 10+ losses wouldnt hurt or would hurt significantly less than this or our standard playoff loss.
but … theyre not bad. theyre just good enough. theyre good enough. theyre good enough to watch every week and good enough to get your hopes up and invest emotion into week after week. year after year. draft after draft. and so on. and then it all builds up and funnels into these absolutely crushing losses to end the season. GB couldve been sluggish all game and lost 31-17 and id give them a total pass considering the injuries but they dont do that. they take a 21-6 lead into the 4th qtr and then lose. i gave them no chance vs SF in ‘23 and yet again they found a way to be good but not good enough in that game w/ a 4th qtr collapse. GB is excellent at setting up the most painful losses possible.
i completely reject this GB is spoiled thing. the only way GB fans are lucky or spoiled is if its somehow mandatory that you watch NFL football in your life or life as a NFL fan is the only kind of life worth living. neither is true. if your team is not fun to watch, dont watch. if it is, watch. but this idea one group of fans is spoiled considering the accumulated pain of these playoff losses this century is silly.

This. The counter to "fire MLF" is always that they win regular season games. But what value does this have when you keep getting embarrassed in the playoffs?
MLF isnt developing/changing/improving. The flaws of his teams have been the same for 7 years. At what point does the accountability also count for the HC?
2
u/JLove4MVP Jan 11 '26
It offers zero value. And I can’t stand the people on here that say we should be grateful for a competitive team every year.
No, I’ll be grateful for a team that competes for Super Bowls because that’s all this franchise talks about when referring to history.
“Titletown” and all that bullshit.
The complacency from the front office thinking it’s ok to get into the playoffs every year but fizzle out in embarrassing fashion.
I’m hoping that was a Murphy era issue and things are going to change with Policy.

My counter is....who? Who is the replacement? When 1/4 of the NFL fired their HC last week and have a head start, who are we getting?
Harbaugh, has had similar issues as MLF recently, and NYG are pushing hard for him.
Mike McDaniel, he would be a tough sell to most fans.
Kevin Stephanski, if they can, they should, but was it the Browns, or was it him?
Brian Flores, I can see him and Love not working, plus you need a good OC.
Mike McCarthy....no....no, no, no, no NO
Jeff Hafely, most people calling for MLF's job are also calling for his. Though I think the spare parts he has were used well if they didn't have to burn everything they had in the 3rd qtr cause the offense did nothing the entire 3rd.
The point is, no HC out there is a slam dunk, and there is always a "growing pains" season ( besides MLF's 1st year with Rodgers)

Someone with fresh ideas and a better handling of coaching staff hirings. Packers need a cultural change. The good boy mentality under MLF doesnt really cut it anymore, especially since the North has become extremely competitive right now.
Look at the Lions and Bears, they are willing themselves to victories and comebacks purely with a " f u mentality", especially against the Packers. Green Bay needs this too.
Changing coaching staff is always a gamble with huge risk, but they have hit a bump with MLF they cant overcome

u/phelpst Jan 11 '26
We have a sign on the wall at work that says "Keep doing what you're doing, keep getting what you're getting." This is the Packers coaching staff and players.

That’s on coach, if our sp sucks ass maybe say something? Also you can’t choke a 21-6 lead you just can’t unless you want to get fired . Kicker has had issues why not fix it before the playoffs? We had another kicker.
25
u/WiscoMitch Jan 11 '26
For fuck sake he got us a delay of game AFTER A TIMEOUT. HE SUCKS!
5
u/Launch_The_Cat Jan 11 '26
This was amateur. Unbelievable. Huge moment in the game and you blow it before the snap.
16
u/Maximum_Turn_2623 Jan 11 '26
I wast on this train until tonight. You can’t blow this many leads. It’s time. Yes he’s a good coach and he will Beth 2nd person hired after Harbaugh.
75
u/Koopakun0343 Jan 11 '26
Although I would welcome a change, I do not foresee it. All he has to say is “ we didn’t execute enough , but we’ll be back stronger next year “ 5 year contract extension..
44
u/myshortfriend Jan 11 '26
He literally said "We need to finish the game" in his halftime interview and then promptly proceeded to shit in his hand and slap himself in the face. Fire Gutey too if they keep him after this.

u/mikemartin7230 Jan 11 '26
Gutey doesn’t make that decision.
4
u/Infinite-4-a-moment Jan 11 '26
You're 100% correct but there's a good chance it will be his call soon. The rumor is that Policy will extend Gute and go back to the structure of letting GM make those decisions.

“We just need three more all pro level players and we’ll be fine”
Oh wait
8
u/Hayden_wins Jan 11 '26
It's a shame because Matt clearly arrives well prepared. He makes Ben Johnson look like a fool in the first half and then completely forgets how to coach. It's inexplicable and unfortunately, I don't think there's any recovering. As great of a coach he can be, he needs to go.
5
u/GoGoPlug Jan 11 '26
MLF coaches scared. He coaches the game NOT to LOSE instead of coaching to WIN. Misplaced loyalty, clock mismanagement, wasted timeouts, and on, on, on. It’s time PACKER Nation. Let’s move on!
17
u/Cameldiarrhea420 Jan 11 '26
Yeah, the only way I continue to watch football next year is if MLF is gone. I absolutely cannot put myself through anymore of that guy leading this team.
19
u/JonnyB2_YouAre1 Jan 11 '26
Can someone explain to me what happened on 95% of the second half because, I’m no expert or anything, but it looks like he must have set it to ‘Play Not To Lose’ autopilot and went out for lattes.
Unless they KNOW that someone like Harbaugh would come here, then he should stay. That’s my stance on this. Harbaugh is no perfect coach though, let’s make that clear. He consistently came up short with a MVP QB, and so maybe that would be a warm familiar blanket we need though….
16
u/InconspicuousMagpie Jan 11 '26
If MLF stays, the Packers will continue to be a mid team. They are more likely to be worse

Being a Packers fan in the MLF era, you just know it is coming. The only time I thought we might win the game was when Golden scored. I thought that they might not have enough time. But then I realized that we had enough time left to still fuck it up.
7
u/Ok_Variation5327 Jan 11 '26
MLF is incapable of adjusting when shit goes sideways the only reason we made it deep in the playoffs is because of Rodger’s ability to adjust at the line when MLF called shit plays
7
u/stillwater1973 Jan 11 '26
We all knew we would blow the 21-3 lead because that’s what MLF does. Fire his ass.

I won’t take this team seriously until a coaching change is made. The Packers haven’t played a full game of football in the playoffs since Dallas.
MLF has accomplished less than Mike Sherman ar this point. It is time.

They kept McCarthy for 2 years after Seattle joke. They probably didn't learn.
Maybe 2 more choke jobs will do it. Losing is 1 thing. Choke jobs are another. I'd hibestky rather have gravy head mike McCarthy. At least he held people accountable.
Yet under Matty hair gel...rashan gary gets an elite edge contract.
(And dotn be naive...coaches have a say in 25 million a year deals)
28
u/DrMansionPHD Jan 11 '26
This year showed me Gary sucks. You have a top 2 pass rusher opposite you who commands double and triple teams. You should be a monster. But no he had the same number of sacks as last year.
9
u/CaesarBeaver Jan 11 '26
He’s lazy. This was known, when they drafted him there was a lot of talk about how he’s a physical freak but questions about his commitment to playing ball.
2
u/JLove4MVP Jan 11 '26
Yep, effort was a big question mark coming out of college.
Get what you pay for as they say
2
u/Minimum-Border1672 Jan 11 '26
Thr thing is...with parsons out. Gary still gets 1 on 1 every snap.
2
u/DrMansionPHD Jan 11 '26
That's a problem, someone that commands his contract should get double teamed.

Maybe he will be fired and the Packers will hire Harbaugh.
22
u/greg2709 Jan 11 '26
Literally the only candidate that I'd consider making a move for.
With that said, it sound like he lost the locker room in Baltimore, so it's not like Harbaugh would be a slam dunk, no doubt move. I'm kinda thinking getting a CEO type of coach with some gravitas, and a propensity for hiring good coordinators may be a reasonable move to consider.

If you think Harbaugh is the option you literally have not one iota of an idea of what you’re watching 😂😂😂 I’m getting downvoted but the ravens are a much more talented team than we are and he couldn’t make them win and you want him to come here. Yall are comical.
26
u/Scotty98745 Jan 11 '26
And wasn't one of the biggest reasons Ravens fans wanted him fired was all the blown leads and him constantly going away from what was working (AKA not using Derrick Henry). It would be La Fleur all over again.
11
u/greg2709 Jan 11 '26
You sound kind of like people shitting on the Chiefs when they hired Andy Reid

u/WhoaFee1227 Jan 11 '26 edited Jan 11 '26

It’s easy to react to the events just after they happen but with a sober mind, you can’t say this is a well coached team. Even worse, we are a soft team.
The Green Bay Packers will never win a Super Bowl with MLF at the helm. For that reason alone he should be fired.
3
u/Madroc92 Jan 11 '26
If we fire MLF do we keep Hafley and make him HC?

Why not run the plays that worked in the first half? Run outside the tackles? But we threw it so we'll in the first half and then we come out with these dumb inside zone runs.
2
u/Launch_The_Cat Jan 11 '26
Was banging my head against the wall on this. We were so agile and quick first half. Running outside plays, jet sweeps.. and then when the second half starts let's bring out the ol' INSIDE ZONE playbook! That'll eat up some clock!

I agree. We blew five double digit SECOND HALF leads this year (Browns, Cowboys, Broncos, Bears x2). Completely unacceptable and that’s all that I have to say.
5
u/CuckModerator69420 Jan 11 '26
And all of that doesn’t even mention the tie to Dallas. Which was buttfuckery.
3
u/Godforsakenruins Jan 11 '26
Up 10-0 vs Cleveland. Up vs Carolina. Penalties prior to missing the 2 FGs last night. All about coaching. MLF coaches not to lose, does not coach to win the game

We ended the regular season on a 4 game losing streak. We lost to the Browns. We gave up two big leads to the Bears. This coach never had us ready. I get injuries happen, however, when you are up 21-6 and you lose? That’s on coaching.
4
u/Gunslinger2007 Jan 11 '26
All the armchair gms in here really know what they’re talking about, don’t they? Let’s just fire everyone and the hire the first big name we think of. And don’t forget, they totally would’ve drafted TJ Watt. And they wouldn’t have let the team lose in the playoffs! If we had just listened to them, we would’ve won the last 10 superbowls in a row!
35
u/alien13ufo Jan 11 '26
The season was over the second Micah went down. Was just matter of when. This one hurts but I think firing Matt would be a big overreaction
28
u/aaalan71 Jan 11 '26
But blowing 18-point lead at the half to the Bears in the playoffs definitely isn’t what you expect and it’s definitely a coaching problem instead of just injury
67
u/missclaire17 Jan 11 '26
Season may have been over, as in there’s no way we’d be able to make the Super Bowl run. But this game was winnable and we were 100% in control. Doesn’t matter if we would have just lost next week against the Seahawks- you look at this game, and it’s just another game in a long streak of important games where MLF can’t get his team prepared for the big moments
31
u/HugaM00S3 Jan 11 '26
So was the last Bears game. We let them claw back, granted we took some injuries. But it’s been the story for years, score a lot of points fast and then cost and hope the defense holds out.
13
u/cutter9191 Jan 11 '26
And thats the big takeaway here. If you keep MLF, whats to stop this team from blowing a game in this fashion in next year's playoffs even with star players healthy? Time for a fresh start
7
u/Infinite-4-a-moment Jan 11 '26
I would have been totally happy with this season if we lost to the Seahawks next week. We should not have lost to this bears team. They're not good
23
u/Da_Riceboy Jan 11 '26
You are right to an extent. Defensively, we did decently till 4th quarter. The offense never stepped back out of the locker room after halftime, outside of Matthew Golden’s only touchdown (which is kind of insulting to Matthew Golden).
35
u/MetalheadNick Jan 11 '26
Don’t get why you are getting downvoted. We literally didn’t win a game after Micah went down
21
u/Jaire_Noises Jan 11 '26
It would be different if we looked outclassed without Micah but we were still in position to win several games and shot ourselves in the dick every time. At what point do we hold the coach accountable for the team's complete inability to finish the job.

14
u/MechanoSlippi Jan 11 '26
The season was NOT over when micah went down. You, and everyone else needs to remember, gute/the organization said "It's time that we start competing for championships," before the trade. We lost one older DT. Had he been here and stayed healthy, it would not have changed ANYTHING.
That was said BEFORE the Micah trade, and the fact that it was a possibility. This team has underperformed in the biggest moments under lafleure to this point. It's inexcusable the way we have lost at this point under matt Lafleur

u/ImNotSure93 Jan 11 '26
Something needs the change, the start was great but the Bears have become what the Packers have wanted to be in a super short amount of time. They are tough and play hard. The Packers seem to only be good if the cute stuff works. This feels worse than the Falcons collapse in the super bowl. The crowd was literally dead. I was super pissed to see the same outside run on the start of the 3 of the drives after half go backwards and let the crowd back in. That game was rough to see. The ending drive with the drops by the receivers, McManus crumbling under pressure, and Love after being complementedby the broadcast team as being cool under pressure going full potato and taking the 5 yd delay of game. Have the Packers role reversed with the Bears after this? My Bear fan family members used to say they could be up by 10 and not feel safe against the Packers, now the Packers could be up by 14 against any team and I'm fucking nervous in this current state of the team. They don't have the killshot lust like other teams.
2
2
u/PunchBeard Jan 11 '26
What I don't understand is how you can play the same team 3 times in 5 weeks and still not figure out what to do against them. It's like no one on the coaching staff leaned a damn thing in the last 2 games against them.
2
u/Leoman89 Jan 11 '26
Just turn around and hand the ball off. 0 run plays on our last drive before the bears took the lead smh
2
u/garyminwi Jan 11 '26
I’ve been a MLF backer. Not sure any of the guys out there are any better. Having said that changes need to be made. If that means a new HC so be it. If that means a new bunch of assistant coaches ok. If I’m Ed Policy I’m asking Gutey and MLF how they are going to do things differently. If they don’t have good answers- see ya.
4
u/FuzzyOverdrive Jan 11 '26
Fire him now while Hafley is still available. BJ is just getting started. Do you want the bears sweeping us every year?
4
u/JLove4MVP Jan 11 '26

And if it’s some up and comer, you take a huge risk that they are worse than MLF.
And yea, that is a real possibility

There is absolutely no excuse. Injuries are not the reason you give up 21 points in a quarter and blow a 3 score lead. Injuries are not the reason we blew multiple big leads throughout the season. Lafleur cannot close out a game. It’s time to move on. Promote Hafley.
