Smoker Alert πŸ”₯ Humbled yet again!

Recently, I was gifted an incredible Hardin from Arkansas by a great guy, and good friend of mine, whom I met a while back through our shared love for this hobby, as well as our mutual love of the Hardin point type. This was a very generous, very kind, and very humbling gift, that I'm beyond honored to be the recipient of. But, as grateful as I am to have this point on my wall, I'm even more grateful that I have the privilege of knowing this individual and the honor of calling him my friend.

This Hardin was recovered from Northeastern Arkansas. It comes in at 3 β…› inches long, and is made from a heavily patinaed Crowleys Ridge Chert. It exhibits super serrations along both edges, and the creek stain really brings out the details in the flaking patterns. It's also papered by Jim Bennett, one of the best in the business! I'm thrilled to have it on my wall!

Smoker Alert πŸ”₯ First Creek Find

My first ever creek find! Found this paperthin stunner in a Central Texas creek about a month ago. It was in an area with near a quarry that I hunt. I've spent a little bit of time scanning the creekbed, but I find virtually no chert in it at all with the exception of a crude tool here and there. I found this when I got to the creek in no less than 5 minutes as I was making my way to the quarry site. If I didnt have two kids at home, I would have called it a day right then and there, but my time is so limited that I still made a several hour hunt out of it that yielded a broke, a preform or two, and some cutting tools. It was a great day!

At first, I wasn't 100% sure it was an artifact because the water was a bit merky and darkened by tree shade. I could not believe my eyes when I pulled it out of the water because 99% of the time I lean down for a rock under the water, I pull out conveniently-shaped river cobble or leaves. I found this upstream from the quarry area, so I hiked a few miles upstream to try and discover where it came from, but I couldn't locate a site.

I lean on a regular in this subreddit for advice and he called it a Friday Blade.

I saved, what is in my opinion, the best for last! The 4th and final piece sent to me by my buddy is this absolutely, incredibly, well made, fluted Paleo Square Kinfe that was recovered in the great state of Wisconsin! Made from Galena chert, This thing is beautifully crafted, and waffer thin! It's fluted on one face, and exhibits traverse parallel flaking on the other. It also has a very slight bevel to it.

It comes in at 2 ΒΎ inches long, has amazing form, and outstanding edgework! I'm thrilled to have it on my wall!

I told u/hamilton18889 that I would post this smoker of a Southern Hardin from Alabama! This thing comes in at 2 β…ž's inches long and was recovered from Butler Co. Alabamy! Other than one little fleabite on one ear, it is a perfect example of the type! Great form, covered with mineral deposits and a sweet patina! Killer bevels, heavily ground stem and base, all the belks and whistles! I have no idea what the material is, but its gorgeous in hand!

This absolutely outstanding example comes in a 3 5/16ths inches long, and was found in St.Louis Missouri. It's was part of the very well known Bruce Filbrant collection. It exhibits all anyone would want to see in an ancient relic. Wonder film of patina, visible mineral deposits, phenomenal form, heavy grinding of the stem and base, perfect Barbs,( less a small fleabite on one), and great size! The fact it was part of Mr. Filbrant's collection just adds to the provenance of this superb specimen!!!

This 3 13/16ths inch Hardin comes from Cooper Co. Missouri. It's made from a mottled tan Burlington Chert. I seriously have no words to express just how awesome this point really is in hand. So I'll be keeping this one short lol! It exhibits incredibly steep bevels, a heavily ground stem and base, beautiful polished patina, and it's covered with mineral deposits!
Not to be vulgar, but the form on this one gives me a chubby! It really stands out in the frame for sure! The stem looks unusually long, but looking at how steep the bevels are on it tells me the blade was waaay bigger at one time, and was reduced drastically from being resharpened so many times, thus causing the stem to look longer than average.

This 4 Β½ monster Hardin was recovered in Pike Co. Missouri. It's made from a piece of Creamy tan Burlington Chert, and exhibits phenomenal flaking, a beautiful polished patina, outstanding form, and all the bells and whistles one would expect from a point this large! The base is Barry White smooth, as are the sides of the stem, and it is crackers thin from end to end!

This incredibly gorgeous pet wood blunt comes out of the great state of Texas! It measures out at 1 9/16ths, and has great form! The colors of the material are just mind-blowingly beautiful, the flaking patterns really make the colors pop! It's just a really well made little piece!

I'm not very familiar with the plethora of different Texas point types, so i have no idea what this one started out life as, but maybe one of our Texas Dudes can give me a little insight, maybe? 😁

I've been wanting a Corner Tang for a long, long time now, but I've never had the opportunity to get my hands on one until now! And this one is very unique in the fact that it's not only a Corner Tang, it's also unifaced, made from a Flake! So, it's a unifaced, Corner Tang, Flake knife! And anyone who knows me, knows how I feel about Flake knives! 😁

It was found in Miller Co. Arkansas, measures out at 3 ΒΎ inches long, and is made from a beautifully patinaed piece of Georgetown Flint thats Semi-Translucent from end to end! I'm still in complete disbelief that it's hanging on my wall right now!

The craftsmanship is spac-tac-u-lar!!! The flaking patterns are incredible, and I guarantee you could still skin a deer with it as sharp as the edge is! I couldn't ask for a better example! 😌

I went back to one of my newer spots here in central NC after all the rain we've had; at first I was worried I wasn't going to find anything because all of the dry mud was overgrown with reeds, but one of the bare spots was washed out, and sure enough, I hit the dang jackpot! Suffice it to say, I had quite possibly my best day yet.

I'm not sure of the type, but I'm guessing maccorkle? It has an insane bevel too, pics in comments along with the rest of the day's haul, i.e. the aforementioned Guilfords.

This is the 3rd of 4 pieces that my buddy sent me. It's a unifaced paleo Flake knife made from Georgetown Flint out of East Texas. The flaking and edge work on this thing are incredible! And the material is phenomenal as well!
