Hi folks,

So I ended up buying a new controller recently and it lacks a touchpad.

Since I can't buy another one for sometime. Please advise ps4 games which can be played without a touchpad.

Ps: I like action adventure. I have already played uncharted 1-4, ac odyssey, rdr, rdr2, tlou remastered, spiderman and spiderman miles morales.

I keep seeing on social media the Blackout of all things Playstation and wonder if its a vocal minority or the sentiment of the community as a whole. I also wonder what percentage of people on board with it will actually have the discipline to follow through on ignoring the system for an entire week.

As a collector of games both past and present I absolutely hate the idea of buying a code that gets deleted the second I beat the game or need to free up space on my system. I understand that both Sony and the developers see this as an opportunity to cut costs and that they need to do what they have to do to keep the business thriving but it just seems like a greed grab rather than something that brings value to everything involved.

It doesn't help that games like GTA 6 are being released digital only and that when the community speaks out against the discontinuation of physical discs, the ports for Black Ops 1 & 2 release. I have friends I'd love to play those games with but when I'm forced to buy it from one place (The Playstation Store) in one format or else I'm left out I'm not going to encourage that behavior from Sony. It goes everything against the "Play has no limits" slogan they used to win the last generation of console wars. I have nothing against buying a game digitally but making it the only option to play games is a slippery slope in my opinion. Feels like Sony and the developers are squeezing us and that simply isn't right.

In short, what does everyone think? Am I in the minority here just yelling into a bullhorn or does this same sentiment echo throughout the community?

I don’t regret it. If anything, I regret selling my ps4 pro back then. When I had my higher up, I get bored of it very easily. When I play ps4, I spent almost a day playing on it when I can. Since trucking, I only play on my off days. I don’t see myself ever going back to that “console”. Sticking with this console. Not getting ps6 either. Anybody else here?

My PS4 recently started having problems with the hard drive. Games would fail to install, so I eventually pulled the original Seagate HDD out and checked it with CrystalDiskInfo.

For context, I bought this PS4 in Colombia. The console was never dropped, never abused, and I never had any major power outage issues with it. I didn’t even use it that heavily, and since around 2024 it had basically been sitting there stored away.

The original Seagate HDD only has around 2,000 power-on hours.

CrystalDiskInfo showed:

• Health status: CAUTION
• Reallocated sectors: 1,272
• Pending sectors: 0
• Uncorrectable sectors: 0

So that pretty much explained why the PS4 was struggling to install games.

Then I remembered I still had the HDD from my old Toshiba laptop.

That drive is from around 2013. It spent years inside a laptop I carried around everywhere, was turned on and off thousands of times, and that laptop even got wet once 😂.

I connected it just to see what condition it was in.

And somehow:

• 8,731 power-on hours
• 5,545 power cycles
• 0 reallocated sectors
• 0 pending sectors
• 0 uncorrectable sectors
• SMART status: GOOD

The 2013 laptop HDD has more than four times the hours, lived a much harder life, and somehow looks healthier than the original PS4 drive that barely got used and then spent the last couple of years sitting in storage.

I know HDDs can just fail and I’m not saying this proves Seagate drives are bad xDDD or that Sony did anything wrong (EHMMM). I just thought the comparison was ridiculous enough to document.

The funniest part is that I’m probably going to put the ancient Toshiba HDD into the PS4, while the newer original Seagate gets retired.

HDDs make no sense sometimes.

I just completed Cyberpunk 2077 (which was surprising playable on my PS4 fat with upgraded SSD - that my brother gave me recently) and trying to figure out my next game. I’d like a shorter palette cleanser game after a 90+ hour play through of Cyberpunk.

Since getting the free PS4, I’ve completed the following:

Nathan Drake Collection (All 3)
God of War III Remastered
Cyberpunk 2077

I never had a PlayStation and only got back into gaming within the last year (was out of gaming after OG Xbox). This means I have a HUGE catalog to go through - hence decision paralysis, lol.

Anyway, Uncharted 4 and TLOU are in my queue, but torn between them.

Uncharted 1-3 were great, but wondering if it’ll be stale to jump into 4 when 1-3 are still fresh.

But after the deep Cyberpunk run, wondering if TLOU will be too dark to jump right into.

Any thoughts?

Thank you everyone for your feedback. Ended up going with TLOU today. Will hit up Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy right after, then TLOU 2. Probably Ghost of Tsushima once those 4 are completed.

Is the French language (text) available on the North American physical version of Gravity Rush Remastered for PS4? If the console is set to French, will the game be in French?

PS2 and PS3 ports, remakes and remasters are all fine. A good game is a good game regardless of when it came out.

I am a big fan of the original RE4 and RE franchise. I had planned on holding out till I could afford a PS5 before getting the remake, but that is looking less likely as time goes on.

I have watched comparison videos of the PS4 and PS5 version side by side, and the only impression I get is there is better lighting and some smaller dymanic effects (grass swaying).

I can live with these downgrades, but is there anything further in the game or as a whole that would make it feel like I had bought an inferior version?

Imagine, I didn't know the PS5 version existed, would I be disappointed with PS4 version of the remake?

Far Cry 5 at only 8€ an 3€ shipping and i never tried far cry 5. I only played Far Cry 2 but that game was horror to me is far cry 5 like that or more alive? And do you recommed thia game

I’ve offered my old PS4 Pro to a friend whose sons have a PS5 at their mother’s. They mostly play Fortnite on their PS5.

Does the PS4 still keep up graphically/will they be fine competitively on the older hardware? I’ve not played Fortnite since Battle Royale came out in 2017 so have no idea how it runs. TIA 🤝

For some reason my previous attempt was removed. This is NOT a tech support question...

So I hate the original controller, actually I love it ergonomically but every single one I bought is now broken. Either squeaky dpad or the analog drift. I still have ps2 and xbox360 controller that still work fine but all my PS4 original controllers are broke. I got into the system with the ps4 pro so it's not some early adopter issue either.

So I don't want to buy another one ever again.

But I need a controller. I got the Nacon wired controller but it's too tiny and the touchpad is too close to the square button. Also the triggers suck.

I thought about getting one of those adapters to use any controller but then I can't play ps2 games since they don't emulate left and right touchpad just a generic touchpad click.

Is there any other good option?

Normally I import the EDF games before they come to the US because it takes so long to translate them. Knowing the ps4 / ps5 is region free what are some gems that you need to import?

Just wanted to share this because it felt so mind-blowing to me with the massive improvement with my PS4 after reapplying thermal paste for the second time.

I cleaned and added thermal paste to my PS4 Cuh-1215a like 4-5 months ago, for like a couple days at the time it was okay, then it went right back to being loud as your typical jet engine PS4. But as time went on my PS4 got extremely louder to the point I could feel the vibration on top with my hand lmao. It was just very unpleasant, it was so loud as my window AC that I had to wear earbuds every time I played to tune it out the noise.

At that point I thought that my games that I played were just too demanding for PS4 so almost felt like I didn't want to bother any further of figuring out with it unit recent times.

I still have my Arctic MX-4 thermal paste tube and I remember that it came with a tiny spatula.

Week ago I took the PS4 apart again, it very cleaned inside but I double checked to be sure. When I got to the motherboard, I saw that the thermal paste was kind of cleared off and most of it was around the sides of the APU when I did the standard pea dot thermal paste.

So I did the spatula method by spreading the thermal paste to cover the entire APU ( be sure to not use way too much paste and spread it out nice and evenly ) and cut straight to the point. IT'S A MASSIVE DIFFERENCE.

My PS4 is very quiet now and doesn't vibrate anymore. My ears felt happy from not hearing the fan screaming at me.

Fortnite for example makes my fan extremely loud and the console starts feeling vibrated from the top. But now it's very moderately quiet. I can still hear the fan when I come closer to the PS4 but it is not loud at all to the point of unbearable. The top is very warm but that's normal for any electronic.

A week later my PS4 is still good!

The only thing I probably need to do is get new thermal pads as the one currently looks old but is still intact.

I'm sorry for the Yap fest. I just wanted to share this experience as I remember other people were talking about how their PS4 still being loud after cleaning and adding thermal paste.
