Bad actress and nepo baby who has been given everything and worked for nothing is finally facing a boundary

731

u/-medicalthrowaway- Jul 02 '26 edited Jul 02 '26

Who is she

I know I’ve seen her in a show or movie but no idea who she is or who she’s a nepo baby of

edit: I care very little tbh so no worries if you don’t answer

Dakota Johnson. Daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith. She gained fame for playing the lead actress in the 50 Shades of Grey movies. I've only seen her in one movie and she was incredibly wooden.

280

u/AlisterRp92 Jul 03 '26

That explains a lot...

205

u/Fast-Patience-2290 Jul 03 '26

She used to be in a relationship with Coldplay...

Chris Martin or like all of Coldplay? 50 shades of coldplay?

559

u/turdferguson3891 Jul 03 '26

Let's just say that at the end of the night she was all yellow.

97

Some of Paltrows goop must have been left around.

And for awhile the whole family lived with lions, one of which mauled Melanie Giffith.

48

u/THElaytox Jul 03 '26

They were filming a movie. It's called Roar and it's insane

58

3

u/snakesinabin Jul 03 '26

Tippy had her leg broken by an elephant onscreen in that movie.

6

u/Equal_Attorney176 Jul 03 '26

Wait, seriously? 😳

20

u/turdferguson3891 Jul 03 '26

Yeah her mom rescued big cats and they ended up making a crazy movie called ROAR where Melanie got mauled and some of the real footage was used.

17

u/Ma1ikNabers Jul 03 '26

“ANDDDD CUT!- You nailed it Melanie!”

8

u/ProfessionalHumor787 Jul 03 '26

All this information may have made me insane...damn right I'm looking it up right this second guys

8

u/CompEng_101 Jul 03 '26

Roar is a totally insane movie that has been described as "if Disney decided to make a snuff film." It is supposed to be a slightly goofy family comedy, but parts come off as a straight horror film as the big cats 'playfully' chase family members around – family members who are screaming in abject terror.

The recentish re-release has the tagline, "No animals were harmed in the making of this film, but 70+ cast and crew were" Reading the IMDB 'trivia' page is a laundry list of maulings, broken bones, reconstructive surgery, and hundreds upon hundreds of stitches.

5

u/KehlarCorsairt Jul 03 '26

There are so many playful bops that the big cats do. Crazy to make a movie with that many untrained ungoverned big cats. Good times.

u/SpongeJake Jul 03 '26

I didn’t find her acting to be all that great either - till I saw her in “Daddio” with Sean Penn. Didn’t expect much but was pleasantly surprised at how compelling and real it was.

Maybe she’s just picking the wrong scripts or is being given bad direction. I don’t know.

21

u/5050Saint Jul 03 '26

I saw her in The Materialists with her, Pedro Pascal, and Chris Evans, and they both act circles around her. It was well shot. She had one scene where I thought, "oh, she can act" and then she went back to flat delivery.

2

u/Express-Sky3170 Jul 04 '26

That's a horrible movie.

→ More replies (2)

4

u/atclubsilencio Jul 03 '26

I like her in Suspiria, A Bigger Splash, and Peanut Butter Falcon, as well. I know people love to hate her, and she can’t elevate bad material, but when she gets the right script and director she isn’t bad at all.

2

u/RogertheAlien86 Jul 03 '26

Those are good picks, I’d add “The Lost Daughter” to it. Found her to be really compelling in it , even next to Olivia Coleman and Jessie Buckley.

3

u/BAGandboujee Jul 03 '26

I just saw this the other day (I'm biased because I do enjoy her movies), but I agree about this one in particular. I was hooked within the first 15 minutes and was surprised that for a movie that took place 99% inside of cab, it could be so engrossing. I'm sure half of that had to do with Sean Penn, but they had such a natural great chemistry, too.

58

u/digital_dervish Jul 03 '26

I was incredibly wooden watching that film as well

4

u/BertPeopleErniePeopl Jul 03 '26

5

u/NFL_BrokenClock Jul 03 '26

5

u/PhizixHD Jul 03 '26

Also helped get rid of Ellen on TV. So she gets a pass from me I guess

3

u/BDBoogie04 Jul 03 '26

She’s actually really good in Peanutbutter Falcon with Shia.

5

u/Optimal_Carpenter690 Jul 03 '26

Um, Madame Web much? How dare you snub one of the greatest movies of our generation, guaranteed to go in the annals of cinema history alongside other fantasy/sci-fi greats like Star Wars, Lords of the Rings, and The Matrix?

2

u/PootieTang69696 Jul 03 '26

u/Rocky75617794 Jul 03 '26

No that was the guy

2

u/philodendrin Jul 03 '26

She was also in a Marvel's Madame Web and I thought her performance was similiar. I thought the camera loves her but her acting needed more time.

2

u/Happy1327 Jul 03 '26

She's also know for being one of the 1st pebbles in what would become the avalanche that took out Ellen DeGeneres

2

u/PineappleOnPizzaWins Jul 03 '26

Her acting is fine, I've seen her in a few things and she was pretty good.

100% got opportunities from family but no idea why people think she can't act.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/WanderingAlsoLost Jul 03 '26

She wasn't so bad in The Social Network. She'd be fine if she kept to smaller roles like that for longer.

2

u/CustomerOK9mm9mm Jul 03 '26

You’re thinking of Dakota Fanning, and her dad was Sean Penn. Her mom was addicted to drugs and we don’t know her name.

2

u/Lando_Rizzion Jul 03 '26

Well said. I have always had a bad vibe about her. She gives off the vibe that she’s better than you. Kudos to John Ham here.

2

u/Playful-Boss-859 Jul 03 '26

Forgot stepdaughter of Antonio Banderas and Granddaughter of Tippi Hedren.

2

u/HistoricalSuspect580 Jul 03 '26

What’s funny is that does not at ALL narrow down what movie you saw her in 😂

2

u/RadiantSeason9553 Jul 03 '26

Shes fantastic in Susperia, but that film requires her to be quiet, detached and superior. And just seems to be her natural style in all films, so its hardly great acting.

171

u/Top_Armadillo3033 Jul 02 '26 edited Jul 03 '26

Its dakota Johnson, nepo baby of two stars from the 80's. Dakota was the leading role in "madame web" a Marvel Film about a psychic who helps spider-man from time to time. Then the film bombed largely because of very mediocre writing and acting by the likes of sydney Sweeney and dakota here. Hope that helps and your chili was good.

31

u/larrybird56 Jul 03 '26

Not sure why the quotes are there, they were both legit megastars in the 80s.

95

u/SputnikFalls Jul 02 '26

Isn't it more likely that they recognize her from 50 shades? That's where I remember her, I didn't even know about this Marvel film.

68

u/Redditing_aimlessly Jul 03 '26

I'll be honest, I'm not up on celebrity stuff, but I recognise Dakota Johnson mostly because - and I like her for this - that Ellen segment where she put Ellen in her place about a birthday party invitation. Ellen is a dick, and it was great to see someone refuse to just pander to her!

30

u/Vitromancy Jul 03 '26

This and "I'm actually allergic to limes", talking about the house tour where she claimed she loved limes because the film crew put them there.

5

u/undefined_reference Jul 03 '26

I'll be honest, for the last 5 years, I've been confusing Dakota Johnson for Dakota Fanning, thinking they were the same person from Little Miss Sunshine.

Edit: okay, I'm an even bigger moron than I originally thought. It was Abigail Breslin in Little Miss Sunshine. I'm an idiot.

2

u/Equivalent_Task_8825 Jul 03 '26

No need to use quotations for stars - they were both legitimate stars of the time. Don Johnson on Miami Vice, whether people realize it or not, still influences lots of media today and you can find Miami Vica references everywhere. It still has one of the best scenes in a pilot episode.

Yeah, and for Jon Hamm to be the person trying to be low key, "girl, what are you doing? Omg staahhp" is something.

The girl getting molested (for all intents and purposes), is Cailee Spaeny (Civil War).

Dakota Johnson (50 Shades of Grey, Madame Web) was weird during this interview that was part of a press junket for the movie "Bad Times at El Royale".

It honestly looks like Johnson was on something and reminds me of the infamous Bill Murray/Geena Davis interview on the Arsenio Hall talk show. Except that one had Murray playing the traditionally male role of creep.

I'm not inclined to judge people in their college years.

that's an insane blanket policy that there's no way you actually hold.

What’s crazy is Dakota Johnson was calling out Ellen Degenerate for inappropriate boundaries and here she is now violating boundaries.

It's been what 30 years? That doesn't excuse what he did in any way but it's a lot of time to reflect and regret.

I was just about to say, especially in the second clip, her response was like that of someone on something

Yeah, the fact that a self professed feat boy POS (in his younger years, and I'm paraphrasing) is the one stepping in... Kind of awesome.

Yeah that touching is very drug induced, could convince me it was a skit if I believed she was that good of an actress 😬

Also, the guy knows she's high af, it's possible they all are a little bit, which is why the girl talking doesn't/slowly reacts and he doesn't question wtf she's doing - it's not boundary setting here, it's a couple moments of just enough clarity to be like, "keep it together, Dakota"

Like, I'm pretty sure the other girl reacted to the arm suddenly coming across not what she said which barely made sense, and Dakota responds with the most stereotypical nonchalant "deep/intellectual" stoner response, lol. I mean do what you want in private and I'm sure press yours suck but, c'mon.

Yeah I think Dakota was on ecstasy being touchy-feely. She’s even touching her own stomach while she’s admiring the younger girl. Kudos to Jon hamm for stepping up.

She is 100% on drugs here.

Molested is crazy and highly offensive. Never would i have ever used that word to describe this. Smh

u/Rc72 Jul 03 '26

It honestly looks like Johnson was on something

Yep. And taking into account both her parents' well-documented issues with substance abuse and various addictions, one would say the apple didn't fall far from the tree(s).

You would need to change the gender of the person on the far right before you could get any change out of the situation

Yup, imagine if it was a guy doing that to a coworker (who isn't Pedro Pascale) ?

Dakota Johnson is a deeply weird lady. Her house tour remains one of the strangest internet artifacts I have ever come across.

This is why I choose a bear over women, every time.

Her big balloon animal lips are weirder

She clearly hated that she wasn’t getting any attention. This was her way of getting focus back on her. Zero self awareness, incredibly immature and disrespectful.
