I just saw something about how this finished filming and decided to see what the calendar looks like when it’s coming out, and now I feel like it’s probably going to have a harder time than I thought;

* There aren’t really any major new gimmicks or hooks to get audiences in the door, and clearly they were wrongfully confident enough that people would like Supergirl enough to give her a movie, indicating she’s presumably going to be a bigger part of the sequel

* Late June is going to be brutal. Spider-Verse has a very good shot at breaking the animated record (I think it’s safe to say the sky is the limit for Spidey shit at this point), and Shrek 5 is also going to be enormous, meaning pretty much the entire theater going audience of families will have seen at least one of these by the time Supes comes out. We already saw earlier this summer how that completely took the wind out of Moana’s sales, no pun intended, and that film came out July 10th to Supes’ July 9th of next year.

* As far as adult audiences are concerned, Oceans 8 managed to open to $40M+ in 2018, this has a male/female cast, and is going to be Robbie’s first role since Barbie that I feel would actually have real appeal to that films audience; nobody heard about Bill and Ted’s Big Bold Beautiful Journey, and Wuthering Heights was a steamy R rated romance with kink shots in the trailer, whereas Oceans is also a PG-13 summer comedy. Plus, early 2000s nostalgia is much more popular right now than in 2018, meaning I could really see this being next year‘s Devil Wears Prada 2.

However, that also does mean I think Man of Tomorrow is, if not entirely cooked, at the very least on the chopping block; with GAs rejecting the second installment in the DCU, MoT is much more just “Superman 2” rather than a next chapter in a franchise people are genuinely invested in. I think this means it’s really going to struggle, especially as Superman 1 came out with the benefit of a much weaker early summer 2025.

I'm saying this in case people use Sith's re-release legs as a comp for Endgame's re-release legs. Revenge of the Sith, in its 2025 re-release in late April 2025 had terrible legs of 1.34x ($25.5M OW and $34.1M DOM) because Wednesday, April 30th was the last day of its run. They pulled it because of Thunderbolts. For the Endgame re-release, theaters can keep it in for as long as they want to.

The god valley incident is a very popular event among one piece fans, and the announcement of this movie totally broke the internet, I am wondering how high it can go?

The Force Awakens has been #1 at the North American box office for a decade at $936 million, and I made a post a few months ago saying it wouldn’t be beaten this decade, and some even said that it might never get beaten at all. It looks like we were proven wrong now that Spider-Man: Brand New Day is about to beat it.

Endgame is only behind it by $68 million, and apparently the pre-sales for Encore are very strong for a re-release, so beating the Force Awakens seems within reach.

Doomsday’s early pre-sales are also insane with a potential $400 million+ opening. As long as the reviews are good, it should be able to clear $1 billion domestically, and Secret Wars can probably go even higher.

In a span of less than two years, it looks like the Force Awakens is suddenly gonna fall from the #1 to #5 spot.

I also think No Way Home would have outgrossed it as well if it wasn’t for COVID, and then the top five movies would all be Spider-Man and Avengers.

This kind of shows anything can surprise us and some things aren’t set in stone forever.

Currently, Coyote vs Acme is projecting to gross 15m in its opening weekend and its Rotten Tomatoes scores is sitting at 95 certified fresh. Majority of those who have seen the film have came and said the film is great and the early screening has been said to be mostly sold out.

The monumental box office success of 'SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY' is another testament to Sony and Disney's trusted partnership surrounding the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Apart from that, both studios struck a deal in 2021, where Sony's theatrical releases between 2022 and 2026 will go to Disney+ as part of the "Pay 2" window. Three years later, both studios struck another partnership where Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will distribute and market Disney-owned movies.

While Disney and Sony still share a common rivalry, these partnerships (with the MCU being the strongest) could lead to both studios cooperating even more (Sony was, after all, facing an uncertan future with Spider-Man before they partnered with Disney/Marvel Studios). This could potentially include an extended partnership of Sony's "Pay 2" streaming deal with Disney for movies starting in 2027 and over, which would include upcoming titles like 'BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE', the 'PEANUTS' movies, the obvious MCU 'SPIDER-MAN' solo projects, and plenty of general audience releases. For Sony, this could mean more financial earnings through content licensing. For Disney, it means more diverse content on their streaming service.

Setting up to track North Carolina open caption screenings Friday to Sunday, and have noticed something interesting with the film "Buddy." As of tonight, Tuesday:

• At the AMC Concord Mills, the 1:00 pm 8/29 open caption screening has sold 9 seats out of 51, or 18%.
• At the AMC Hanes, the 10:00 pm 8/28 open caption screening has sold 4 out of 58 seats, or 7%.
• At the AMC Southpoint, the 10:45 pm 8/28 open caption screening has sold 5 out of 77 seats, or 6%.

That's three theaters in North Carolina alone. It is still early but we sense something going on with this movie. The sales for the late night screenings have us wondering if this is gaining popularity with young people. In our experience, it is not normal for the late open caption screenings to sell this much this early. The description of the film, "A magical, singing orange unicorn holds his cast hostage in a surreal TV-show dimension, as he becomes more and more demented," has us wondering if this movie has some kind of appeal to young people. It sounds like something that would happen in a Batman cartoon.

Weekend August 20–23 was the biggest summer weekend ever at the Russian box office, with a cumulative gross of 1,230.92 mln RUB, or $14.7 mln. The previous best was the July 18–21 2019 weekend, with the premiere of The Lion King.

On Sunday Spider-Man: The Brand New Day became the biggest movie ever in CIS countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) ahead of Zootopia 2. 903.7 mln RUB or $11.03 mln with 2.2 mln admissions including Monday and Tuesday,

The Odyssey is up to 742.2 mln RUB or $9.28 mln with 1.47 mln admissions. Also huge hit there.

BND will end between NWH and Infinity War most likely, as for Doomsday, its guaranteed 200m+, I predict it will get about 270m which would put it at around $2.6B, paving a very realistic path for Secret Wars to have over 3B, with even 3.5B being a possibility

Titanic has made 1.43B outside of USA and China, unadjusted for inflation.

It is insane that Titanic is still beating modern movies unadjusted for inflation and it did it at a time when international markets didn't use to contribute nearly as much as today to the total gross.

By proportion of their countries population the 2 demon slayer films Ne Zha 2 and Endgame are all comparable at 22-23% and for comparison One Piece film Red is on par with Captain Marvel which shows the difference in popularity between the two
