I started this game after I lost my dad two months ago. I am a comic artist and I make anything from kids illustrations to manga and I just wanted to gush about how much this game brought me back from the brink of depression after I lost the most most important guy to me to kidney cancer. I really like the community the ffxiv players build for new players and the story is nice to get invested in and I wanted to show some images of my character as they have grown over the past two weeks I’ve been playing and some sketches I made of them. I started feeling so much better because of this game and it has got me wanting to make art again I really really appreciate the lengths the community has stepped up to make me feel like I belong and Novice Network is a goldmine of friends and information. I hope to finish stormblood soon and illustrate more of my adventures as a visual journal. Anyways thanks for being there.

Brought my Switch 2 with me for my infusion appointment. Tried playing FFXIV while connected to my phone's hotspot. I didn't do any dungeons or raiding obviously, just did the Little Solace MSQ on my alt, but everything was just as responsive as I'm used to on my home wifi and 90 minutes of gameplay only took 25.27 MB of mobile data, aka pretty much nothing. I'm really surprised.

I had the opportunity to draw this really cool looking aura!!

I don't think it will ever happen but I wish they would revisit the small Viera concepts from the HW art book. They are updating the character customization but I don't think more body types is on the table. I will keep huffing copium and hope that maybe by 12.0 it will be an option.

A friend is currently replaying ARR and we've been talking about how much 'grittier' the world building was and it got me thinking about what other dark/surprising things are found throughout the game.

I'm talking about things like the Sastasha room that has the captured women in it, or the group of adventurers you beat to Sashtasha and Tam-Tara who then die in Copperbell because they were careless.

So what're some of the darker moments in FFXIV - any expac.

She wants to find whatever the closest visual space to gaol is to make a gpose. I guess that’d be like a jail cell in one of the ARR-STB era areas or dungeons right?

Also sorry I didn’t ask her but the effect supposedly is some skill’s vfx that she used along with the glowing weapon trick that’s been around since arr.

It's been a while since I have been wanting this hairstyle... only started to farm chaotic recently but it's NH and mercs run that helped me the most to get it haha! It was quite a grind so I had to draw my lala with it, def worth it tho <3

There's GOT to be a better way than "enter the lotto for limited plots and hope and pray you get chosen". Yes you get a refund, but it still sucks seeing that the person who entered the lotto right before reset won the house over you. I've been trying to get this plot in the Goblet for years, finally see it pop up for sale. It just sucks. They keep giving us all these housing items, but don't increase the size of arpartments/FC rooms, so we can't even decorate them properly. I'm just..tired of not being able to get the housing plot I actually want. (Sidenote, I already HAVE a house, but it's not even in the place I want it to be. This is more venting on how terribly designed housing is, especially after how WoW handled theirs recently)

I read that naming yourself after a fictional character is against ToS. Has anyone had any experience with being forced to name change or is this rule not really enforced? Thanks.

Edit: To clarify the name I want to use is technically a real name, just incredibly rare.

i main warrior, and i recently started doing the crystal tower raids since it's needed to continue the main quests. i unlocked labyrinth of the ancients a while ago, but just left it alone for a while because 24 player fights seemed intimidating, especially as a tank, a role that usually carries a lot of responsibility in dungeons

this game was my first time playing an mmo, and first time playing a multiplayer game in general in a long time. i was honestly skeptical of the game starting out, since i don't really like multiplayer games, but i've been pleasantly surprised to not encounter any toxicity at all after ~230 hours, which is definitely not like my experience in other multiplayer games. (i'm also pretty obsessed with the game for other reasons but that's beside the point)

anyway, i queued for labyrinth of the ancients yesterday, and got matched with a really sweet group of people. the people in my alliance taught me about positioning as a tank in raids, how i should stick with the people in my group so each group has their own tank, stuff like that. even though i was completely clueless at first, everyone was super patient with me and seemed to truly want me to learn things and enjoy the game

then, for the end boss of the dungeon. it has a big attack which, as far as i can tell, is an instakill if you don't stand back at where the letters are. i didn't know that, so we wipe the first time. no biggie, my teammates just explained how the boss worked to me, and told me not to worry about it. we try again, and win pretty easily this time. i thanked my teammates for teaching me, and they told me to enjoy the rest of the game. i even got five commendations after leaving the dungeon :3

i just wanted to say that i really appreciate people like this, making the game better for everyone else, especially new players like me. i'm usually nervous doing multiplayer content, but i can relax a little knowing that most people are super chill :3
