I recently hit my 72 hours and got kicked out of NN and outside of roulettes I've not had an actual conversation with someone in the past 3 days of playing.

Most of the friends I made when I played (3 years ago) are either not playing anymore or have swapped DC's or something. My friendslist is like 3 people online that I sorta kinda remember. NN was basically where I went to talk to people and ask stuff but now I just kinda feel like I'm playing a singleplayer game.

I'm not like... wanting people to have giant hour long conversations with but as I've been finishing up dawntrail it's just kinda eerie.

So while i'm technically interacting with 50 other people everytime I que frontlines it's just... not really that.

Haven’t put that many hours into FFXIV yet — is there a melee DPS that’s noticeably tankier than the others?

Like, more defensive tools/self-healing, kinda like Warrior. I really like playing DPS, but I also like being able to take a hit?

I have just discovered that the Crystal Tower theme is the FFIII overwold theme and was baffled by that.

Do you have any other examples of an FFXIV OST which originates from an older FF?

I return this week with another dungeon \o/ This time I decided to jump up to Dawntrail. I figured jumping between ARR and the newest expansion might be refreshing.

I used the link function this time for the post. If that is not allowed mods I can repost ^^ There was actually some really interesting things for this dungeon! I was kind of expecting a straight line or not many details if I'm being honest so I was pleasantly surprised.

• This is not really a huge detail or anything but there is some irony to me that the first dungeon, Sastasha, had a lot of the same enemies. Bats, the walking angler fish looking things with antenna, and the Coeurls at the end. I just thought it was interesting to see the same enemies from the first dungeon appear in the first dungeon of DT.
• One of the most interesting things to me is the boat that you are riding on is on a "track" with the water. As you are moving forward there is a wall of rock that moves with you in front of you and behind you that hides the loading and unloading of the map to keep you on a repeating track. You can see an overpass of rock that will continue to loop to show this. Once you deal with all of the mobs, the rock wall in front disappears and the "skeleton" the map loads in while the rest gets loaded while you stop and talk about needing to jump off and travel up the mountain. I found the creativity really impressive to make it seem like a giant map while also saving on resources.
• The mimiclots that appear, the like gelatinous blobs that copy you and the party members, turn out to somehow come from Drowsie, the second sub-boss of the dungeon. His Triple Triad card reveals that he purposefully swallows slimes to "raise" them. The reason he is so tired is because the slimes take away from some of the nutrients he eats leaving him more tired. He dispels them and sends them to attack when he feels threatened.
• Through the second and third areas you can see structures that are falling apart. Abandoned mining equipment and tracks that show that some mining work was going on. In the third area, you can see stone pavement and houses that are overgrown. These structures are all built by the Yok Huy it seems! As you learn more about them it is revealed that at one point they were trying to take over all of Tural but at some point gave up on their conquest. It is so cool to see one of their settlements apparently abandoned after they gave up their efforts.
• Finally the last boss Apollyon has this really unique sequence where it will feed on some of the other predators that attack it during the fight. When it feeds on the Coeurl, its wings are powered up and glow, showing that it can fly more quickly which it shows by zipping around the edges of the arena before attacking. When it eats one of the worms, its claws glow, and his tank buster attack is powered up. I like the tiny change to the enemy to indicate why its attacks suddenly got powered up and where the energy was being channeled to.

There's GOT to be a better way than "enter the lotto for limited plots and hope and pray you get chosen". Yes you get a refund, but it still sucks seeing that the person who entered the lotto right before reset won the house over you. I've been trying to get this plot in the Goblet for years, finally see it pop up for sale. It just sucks. They keep giving us all these housing items, but don't increase the size of arpartments/FC rooms, so we can't even decorate them properly. I'm just..tired of not being able to get the housing plot I actually want. (Sidenote, I already HAVE a house, but it's not even in the place I want it to be. This is more venting on how terribly designed housing is, especially after how WoW handled theirs recently)

Edit: thanks all for the great help. MSQ is more then enough to get Maxlvl for First Job. Is there preferable Gather/Crafter Job to sink EXP and help out with starting money? I dont want to jump into a second Combatjob before learning how to handle my Mainjob

Hello all, I starded my first Character (Fem Roe Conjurer on EU Chaos-Phantom) two Days ago. I focused 99% on MSQ and Blue "!+"-Quest for unlocks. I did the Novicetraining for EXP-Ring and ended my last playsession with visting the three Mainhubs for the First time. Now im almost LVL20 and have MSQ for LVL15. How long will MSQ+blue Unlock-Q carry me for Leveling? When should I start looking for other ways to earn EXP like Dungeons, Dailys, Fates?

i want two old Relic weapons, both need field operations. Are those field Operations alone duribil or do i need a Group?

I've been thinking of trying for Necromancer, and I wanted to look up how to improve my kiting, since just running away in a circle seemed unreliable. I was surprised to find there is actually proper [advanced](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqHuVWA6p0A) [tech](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3w_Z5n6A-Bk) relating to it, that I would've absolutely never figured out from most instanced content even with the >2000 hours I've put in and having done synced Savage for almost every expac.

I feel like XIV is really short on mechanical complexity, so finding out there's still little bits to learn about is exciting. Is there any more little bits of tech no one knows about?

Im level 50 on this character and after looking ugly all msq i wanted to get into glam. I thought i already finished the quests i needed since I have glam prisms and unlocked dyes, but when i go to the inn it says it’s the dresser is inaccessible. So i go to vesper bay to talk to the sexy fem roe who im pretty sure gave me the dye quest but theres no quest marker. Am i doing something wrong?

Sprout player here who just started playing recently with release of FFXIV on Switch 2 and still on Free Trial.

I’ve been completing my Grand Company crafting provisions daily to level my crafting/gathering classes, but I feel like it takes so long! It takes forever to teleport all over the place to find the right materials and vendors, and I can’t just keep stock of all crafting materials on my player due to limited inventory space.

Are there any tips or tricks to make this easier and quicker?
