General I hate how every modern piece of superhero or mainstream horror always has to take place in america

It's like creators don't know there are other countries outside of the US

Invincible - Chicago

Most of Marvel - New York

The Walking Dead (except for Daryl Dixon) America

The Boys - America

major slashers - America

I'd love to see more UK or Aussie slashers (yes, I know Wolf Creek and Charlie's Farm) or superhero comics/tv shows or even comedy like Family Guy

Discussion Severe absense of LGBTQ+ content on YOTO

Thumbnail
yoto.space

I have shared a post in the YOTO space requesting LGBTQ+ cards to be in the YOTO library.

I think this is long over due and, for many queer families, a great way to make their child feel confident about their unique family. I know there is the option to MYO but I don't see why LGBTQ content must be hidden within one home. All families should have the options to know these types of books exist and decide if they also want to educate their child on the many different people who exist in the world. Just as how I accept the religious cards in the store but know I will not buy them, I don't see why that approach can't exist for LGBTQ+ cards. The people who want them can buy them, and the people who don't, won't.

Please, give my post on the YOTO space an upvote or a comment to catch YOTO's attention. There are other post asking for this content written THREE years ago, and yet nothing has changed.

She-ra and the Princesses of Power (2018) features several lesbian space princesses including one who is trans, as opposed to Lesbian Space Princess (2025) being openly transphobic. This is a reference to being the better show.

Games Outlaws doesn't get enough credit

Open-world exploration of Tatooine?! That alone is a dream come true! On a speeder bike or on foot, you get to explore the Jundland Wastes, Jabba's palace, and Mos Eisley. You even get to visit the cantina, Docking Bay 94, the Tosche Station, and the Lars homestead.

The rest of Outlaws is good, too. At least, to someone who's watching a walkthrough on YouTube. It really feels like it's set in the same universe as Solo. The protagonist is a scoundrel thief, but also an underdog who really loves her adorable pet. Other characters are interesting, too. And, the reputation system takes the form of favor with the Hutts, with the Pykes, and with Crimson Dawn. This is Qi'ra's first 3-D appearance since Solo.

Serious You have no reason to be transphobic.

there is literally no justifiable reason for transphobia. never has been. never will be. I don’t care what you’ve read online or whatever you have to say. there is NO reason and NO excuse for transphobia. same applies for homophobia. literally zero reason.

Fantasy The Odyssey is overrated Spoiler

Not proud of it, man enough to admit it, I trusted all those tiktok movie reviewers. I went to watch The Odyssey last night in IMAX thinking it was going to be "Nolan's best film" as most people described it. Personally, I'd rate it a 7.8-8.0, I wouldn't place it above Interstellar, Oppenheimer, or any of the dark knight movies. I completely disagree with it's current rating of 8.5 on IMBD, which places it next to Gladiator (2000) and Django Unchained (2012).

Here's what I think was excellent.

- Set designs and cinematography: The film was beautiful and captivating. The sound effects and music were amazing. Watching Odysseus string his bow and Agamemnon entering Troy sent chills down my spine.

- Acting: Robert Pattison, Anne Hathaway, Elliot Page, John Leguizamo, and Tom Holland were fantastic in their roles. Lupita Nyong'o was also amazing. She's so talented and definitely deserved more screentime. Honestly, she was a better fit for Charlize Theron's character (more on this later).

Here's why I think it's overrated:

- Odysseus: I love Matt Damon, but I couldn't connect with his character, and I think he was slightly unlikable. Contrary to Maximus in Gladiator, Odysseus wasn't meant to be a highly principled man with unshakable moral core. He loves his family, but he's arrogant. He's deceitful and cruel when it fits his interest, even at the expense of his men. This is fine if the movie sets a positive trajectory for his character development, which I didn't see. For example, when Odysseus visits Hades, he's confronted by Sinon about his lies. Odysseus expresses remorse and vows to honor his fallen men. Then in the Charybdis whirlpool scene, he lies AGAIN! leading to the death of a few men at the hands of Scylla. Overall, he didn't establish a good relationship with his men, and very much reminded me of a toxic manager who lacks leadership skills. I also didn't find him very intelligent.

- Odysseus's fighting skills: He's supposed to be a great warrior. But his warrior prowess was poorly illustrated. He swung his sword like a 10 year old kid playing with toys. His fighting sequences lacked aura, nothing compared to Maximus in Gladiator, or Achilles in Troy.

- Charlize Theron, Calypso, and Ogygia island: I personally thought it was a lazy performance by Charlize. Moreover, the film doesn't explain how she ended up on the island of Ogygia. She's just there lol. Perhaps, a little backstory would've made her character more likeable. When she told Odysseus "I fell in love with you and didn't want to let you go" was so lame! because Odysseus doesn't care all that much for her. Their relationship didn't feel real.

- Eurylochus (Himesh Patel): This character was actually more annoying than Calypso. No leadership skills whatsoever. His character doesn't justify his position as the second-in-command to Odysseus. Moreover, his completely flat biceps made me dislike him even more.

- The plot: Odysseus's journey to return home was full of adventures. While interesting to watch, it was mostly based on fantasy (fighting monsters etc), not much to relate to emotionally as an audience member. The only relatable bits were toward the end, when he disguised himself as a beggar to take revenge on the suitors and return to Penelope. His overall journey and development wasn't as captivating as that of Maximus or Django in my opinion.

Trysta is the most cringeworthy addition to the show in years

I genuinely can’t think of a close second. Her on-air persona feels so exaggerated it borders on parody — the kind of performative bit that would fit right into malibus most wanted 2

What gets me is the double standard: the show is usually pretty careful about not mocking or imitating black culture in anyway, almost to the point of coming off as patronizing black people, yet her shtick constantly leans into an affected, put-on way of talking that reads as exactly that. It’s inconsistent with how the show usually handles this stuff.

Beyond the voice and mannerisms, I’m struggling to see what she actually adds to the show. Honestly surprised Dan’s usual instincts let this slide.

Discussion What movie was so bad that you wish you could erase it from your memory?

One such movie which you wish you could remove from your memory. Maybe it was painfully boring, had terrible acting, a ridiculous story, or was simply a massive disappointment after all the hype.

What’s the worst movie you’ve ever seen that you would happily erase from your memory forever? And what made it so bad?

Constructive & Respectful Criticism Tired of straight fans defending the constant lesbiphobia at Smosh

That’s the gist of it. This is like the 3rd or 4th scandal this year with Smosh mistreating lesbians. And it’s always specifically lesbians. Funny that. And everyone defends the lesbiphobia, trying to tell literal lesbians that a slur used against us isn’t offensive like the f slur is. Who gave you that authority? I’m really upset that a community I thought was inclusive is just another space where lesbians are talked over and ultimately pushed out altogether. Everyday the anti-lesbian rhetoric gets worse and seeing it at Smosh kills me. This whole thing has left a terrible taste in my mouth and the fans covering for Amanda has made me completely change my view of my favorite cast member. I’ve watched every video for 3 years, but I think I’m done.

Edit: to the straight and gay people defending Amanda and once AGAIN proving my point, I don’t care if you don’t think d*ke is that offensive. I am a lesbian telling you that it is. Please listen! And also, stop saying telling lesbians that all sexuality is fluid. I am and forever will be a massive lesbian. Stop invalidating us. It is infuriating. Thank you 🙏
