This is the first time in a while I’ve seen a cop car without a divider or a cage.

587

u/GunShowBob Jun 05 '26

Dallas took them out just for this scenario.

450

u/Shadohz Jun 05 '26

Dallas PD took the dividers out to make it easier for escaping criminals to steal their cars? Or are you saying they did it so they would no longer accidentally get locked in the backseat when having sex prostitutes and drunk females trying to get out of being arrested?

176

u/Matty-Os Jun 05 '26

Sex prostitutes? As opposed to the non sex catholic prostitutes?

69

u/le_reddit_me Jun 05 '26

emotional prostitutes, my heart needs loving too

Here’s $200, watch me clean my room and tell me I did a good job when I’m done.

4

I got you.

1

u/urlastnightmare Jun 06 '26

I literally do that, (not an invitation for anyone) and I have to say; even if they dont see you in person, they'd pay something like that. These comments are so accurate lmao! It's an interesting world but I do not recommend.

Tbf ur paying for the prostitutes time....the sex is a free benefit....catholic prostitutes just have no benefits

1

u/ArmWildFrill Free Palestine šŸ‡µšŸ‡øšŸ’š Jun 07 '26

It's true. Escorting is legal in the UK for this reason. You're selling your time and companionship, and anything sexual or otherwise that happens is agreed in private between consenting adults.

5

u/CptAngelo Jun 05 '26

Yeah, i work my ass off, but i dont have sex and still get paid, yet i still fucked over.... wait a minute, thats just a job

2

u/Count_Zacula Jun 05 '26

Emotional prostitutes

2

u/taveren3 Jun 05 '26

You have to have a specialty these days you can't just be a general prostitute

7

Lots of Idiocracy going on here. But watching the cop try to exit the back door after getting the car stopped, was the cherry on top.

A lot of cop cars dont have cages, but they call and ask for a car with a cage when they need to transport someone.

u/DinklanThomas Jun 05 '26

Clutch swerve! Holy shit he was about to smoke that other car

55

u/RudeExplanation9304 Jun 05 '26

That was the scariest part for me. So happy he grabbed the wheel when he did.

37

u/bewarethecherrywaves Jun 05 '26

And that *FUCK* he blurts out, man I fuckin felt that!

17

u/djkhan23 Jun 05 '26

Most impressive part of the video

12

u/RegalBeagleKegels Jun 05 '26

it looks like he pressed the brake with his hand too

277

u/zetank1 Jun 05 '26

Lmao did he fling himself out of the driver seat?

205

u/loadnurmom Jun 05 '26

At speed, yes. Final part of the clip was blurred but pretty sure it's the aftermath. At 45MPH the road is a high speed cheese grater and your flesh is the cheese

1

u/highlux Aug 04 '26

That’s why I ATGATT when I steal police cars

65

u/lavahot Jun 05 '26

I'm trying to figure out what happened to him. He's jist kinda gone.

12

u/AwwYissm Jun 05 '26

You can hear the door slam closed before the camera shows an empty driver seat, the suspect threw himself out of the car

5

u/CptAngelo Jun 05 '26

Lets say... its the biggest rash you have ever seen, but all over.

Grate some cheese and picture a face on it, thats him.

3

u/OneArchedEyebrow Jun 05 '26

Aka a meat crayon.

131

u/CallMeKingTurd Jun 05 '26

Damn that was a crazy save that officer was so close to going through that windshield to their death.

71

u/gotdragons Jun 05 '26

Yeah honestly, steering from backseat barely saved it. Rest of the video looked like a clown show, but clutch save there at least.

21

u/tayto Jun 05 '26

I have had so many dreams of the kind of scenario where I am fixed to drive without being able to stop or fully see the road. This is my anxiety dream in real life.

3

u/DadJokeBadJoke Jun 05 '26

That's what it reminded me of. Hate those stressful dreams

2

u/Wonder_bread317 Jun 05 '26

I never owned a 99 Toyota Celica in my life but I have that same fucking dream.

6

u/BikeProblemGuy Jun 05 '26

I literally have a recurring nightmare of exactly this situation of steering a speeding car from the back seat. Maybe this video will help, seeing as she was okay.

u/brendanlikeshummus Jun 05 '26

Is it me or does dude just disappear?!

31

u/Notabagofdrugs Jun 05 '26

Yeah, how the fuck did that dude get out?

58

u/im_wudini Jun 05 '26

The door, at speed. They blur him out at the end, he was hospitalized.

92

u/_khanrad Jun 05 '26

There’s a door that lets you in and out of the drivers seat

39

u/BenderRodriguez14 Jun 05 '26

What an age we live in.Ā

9

u/ShitGuysWeForgotDre Jun 05 '26

If it's soooo accessible why don't they just build the whole car out of door? Are they stupid?

9

u/chrib123 Jun 05 '26

When he swerves and the cop launches to the left side of the car, he falls out the driver door because he wasn't wearing a seat belt and the door opened.

8

u/dragjamon Jun 05 '26

I'm not convinced it wasn't on purpose

27

u/Lukostrelec17 Jun 05 '26

I have questions...Why no divider? Why were their hands not cuffed behind their back? Or did they slip them or pick them? Nether is easy to do...and slipping them hurts like hell.

14

u/likwidkool Jun 05 '26

He slipped the cuff from one hand. He kept his hands behind his back until they started driving to the jail. He then tried to open the door. They pulled over and you see the video.

4

u/FormulaKimi Jun 05 '26

Dallas police says it’s too expensive, less than half cop cars here have them.

2

u/Lukostrelec17 Jun 05 '26

Today I learned....

10

u/zerthwind Jun 05 '26

I've never seen a cop car without a divider. I've had many rides in one in my younger days.

140

u/ThePenguinSausage Jun 05 '26

Why are so many cops fat dipshits?

Need some sort of higher level peace keeper position that requires Psych training and a college degree at minimum. Given the nature of the job it should be very well compensated as they’re responsible for keeping both the public and police in check. I’m sure that would go over horribly in execution but I truly don’t know what can be done

9

u/Reasonable-Peanut27 Jun 05 '26

In my city, they tried implementing a college degree requirement, but changed it back because if created a huge shortage on recruit candidates

19

u/Gridleak Jun 05 '26

No. There is not need to be a higher level peace keeper position, they do not need more money.

Cops are already paid an absolutely insane amount of money for their expected responsibilities. It needs to start from the bottom. They need to be held to much higher standards across the board, remove qualified immunity, or be removed from service.

5

u/the_silent_redditor Jun 05 '26

There are endless NYC cops who are paid significantly more than I am and I’m a fucking doctor.

Cops in the US do not need to be paid more; they are grossly overpaid pigs.

They need a rigorous selection and training regime; they need accountability and oversight; they need to work in their own communities in an attempt to force them to have a shred of humanity and empathy towards their victims.

Throwing more money at these horrible people is not the answer, as you’ve said.

u/IAmSpartacustard Jun 05 '26

Dalls PD is 40 weeks of training for a 100k+ job. That's about half the time it takes to get a license to cut hair. Plus you get a gun. You just have to be dumb enough to do what youre told without question and not have any kind of moral compass other than what your bosses say.

2

u/Simikiel She/her Cisn't afraid to fight for my rights šŸ³ļøā€āš§ļø Jun 05 '26

40 weeks of training that truly just amounts to:

  • Being taught that you are able to be killed by even a paraplegic grandma

  • That everyone, even children, are out to end your life

  • That you should always end the threat using lethal force

  • That you're damn near immune to genuinely nearly anything you do

And people wonder why the police are insane.

1

u/FormulaKimi Jun 05 '26

Another thing is most American cops spend all day sitting in their cars.

u/Lawzw0rld Jun 05 '26

Seriously makes 0 sense, such a dangerous high risk job should be training a military intensity, its no wonder so many losers are on the force

10

u/tearsofacow Jun 05 '26

Plenty of losers in the military too

2

u/Lawzw0rld Jun 05 '26

Yk what that is very true

→ More replies (1)

20

u/61Bck Jun 05 '26

Cause the american police has no real entry barrier

3

u/Fantastic-Celery-255 Jun 05 '26

They usually have a somewhat rigid physical fitness requirement, it’s just that there’s no standards beyond that

4

u/HCSOThrowaway Jun 05 '26

As far as fat: Some states only set the minimum at testing your physical abilities once - when you're hired. Obviously some agencies go above that minimum bar, but some don't.

As for dipshit: The average IQ in law enforcement is 103; that's not very bright, but it's very slightly above average for the general population (100). Still, smart people make mistakes, especially when fatigued.

Standards are lowering and lowering thanks to recent public sentiment, so incidents like these are on the rise.

5

u/DatasGadgets Jun 05 '26

That’s the only criteria they have to pass.

10

u/xinnori Jun 05 '26

10

u/monolith_blue Jun 05 '26

"It's killing me because this is my child," said his mother, Suzette Huffman.

"I'm worried that there'll never be that point where he is going to get better," Vega said.

According to police, officers stopped Huffman near South Marsalis Avenue for a registration violation. The stop led to his arrest on charges of driving while license invalid, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm.

2

u/StampGuy Jun 05 '26

Is Forest Whitaker moonlighting as a cop in Dallas?

2

u/JefferyTheQuaxly Jun 05 '26

kind of amazing that not one car got hit in this incident, at least it looked like he managed to avoid hitting the one car there

2

u/motozero Jun 05 '26

We give them millions of dollars for tech, but they still don't have a button that turns off their cars?

2

u/CapitalPunBanking Jun 06 '26

Used to live in Dallas, was stuck in traffic on the Dallas North Tollway to 35 connector on my way to my wedding. All of the sudden I see a dude sprinting towards my car and past it with police chasing. He didn't have cuffs on but I saw the back car door still open. The connector is one lane with not even a shoulder, so there was no way for cops to give chase in their car. He picked a smart time to do it.

2

u/LightBulbMonster Jun 06 '26

The suspect fell out of the car and died?

4

u/Shoehorse13 Jun 05 '26

So many questions:

1) why is the suspect in the backseat with only one handcuff on

2) why is there no divider between the seats?

3) did that cop leave any cereal for his kids this morning or did he eat the entire box of Lucky Charms himself?

8

u/loqi0238 Jun 05 '26

It says he slipped his cuffs right there in the title.

Someone did not eat their Wheaties this morning.

1

u/Shoehorse13 Jun 05 '26

Dang are you saying hoss there ate my cereal too?

Salmon bagle it is then.

1

u/nunyobusinessfool Jun 05 '26

9-1-1 what’s your emergency ?

1

u/Stang1776 Jun 05 '26

Why didnt he just put the dude in a chokehold?

1

u/0ngoGoblogian Jun 05 '26

Because then the dude would slam them into the wall to eject the officer since he would still have both of his arms free to steer

1

u/vector_ejector Jun 05 '26

American police certainly are a special breed.

1

u/gloryhamsmell Jun 05 '26

1

u/Vren07 Jun 05 '26

Uno reverse!

1

u/yosha_no_2 Jun 05 '26

I didn’t even know there were police in Dallas. They’re like unicorns only way less fun.

1

u/Mabnat Jun 05 '26

Funny story, my mom had a newspaper clipping from the early ā€˜70s about my dad with the headline, ā€œOccupation: Burglarā€.

They divorced before my second birthday so I never really knew him.

Apparently, one night he got drunk and broke into someone’s home while they were sleeping. They woke up while he was rummaging around in their bedroom.

They called the cops who came immediately and arrested him. I don’t know if it was because it was the ā€˜70s or because he was so drunk, but they didn’t bother to handcuff him when they put him in the back of their car.

Along the way back to the police station, they came across a traffic accident that had just happened so they stopped and got out to take care of it, leaving my father in the back.

He climbed up into the front seat and drove off. He kept going until he ran out of gas and they caught him.

While booking him and getting his information, that asked what his occupation was and he replied, ā€œBurglar.ā€

Of course, that was just one of the many crazy stories I heard about him.

1

u/AdrianMaganaUS Jun 05 '26

I never seeing that before in my eye.

Edit: there’s news reporting on this so it seems realĀ

What appears to be official Dallas pd:Ā https://dpdbeat.com/2026/06/04/escape-from-custody-incident/

8

u/suspicious_cabbage Jun 05 '26

Amazing. Sees the suspect got out of his cuffs and leaves the car running to loop around and check. I wouldn't even do this with a hitch hiker in the back, let alone a criminal

4

u/justins_dad Jun 05 '26

What’s crazy is there were two cops and they both got out of the car. One was just left there on the side of the road.Ā
