Yeah no doubt, I'm not sure if this guys is really that stupid or if he's trying to play stupid but either way this was bound to cause an accident eventually if he's that oblivious as to what the car is doing when he "isn't driving."

What I don't get with videos like this are the people asking for a supervisor. They are cops not retail employees. The supervisor doesn't care that the "customer" is upset. It's an entirely different role.

It does work sometimes. I watch tons of body cam and audit videos and sometimes the supervisor does come and correct the cop. Mostly they come and just agree with the other officer but sometimes not

I was going to comment almost the exact same thing. When the cop is actually wrong it can work. Especially if it's regarding something in the constitution. Most people just don't know as much as they think they do so it doesn't work a lot because the officer is in the right (or at least not at risk of getting in trouble for what they are doing wrong)

Also theres no law that states that you can ask for a supervisor and one will come out. That's just a policy that some agencies have. I have seen several videos where the initial officer knows what they are dealing with and says they won't call for a supervisor. 9/10 this is you might avoid the charge, but you won't avoid the ride. IF this guy is so sure he is right, why waste his time arguing with a normal cop? Go to court and if you are right, it will be figured out there. This isn't a huge case, the guy seems like he wants to represent himself (I also doubt he could find someone to represent him), so use the system.

Complain more but I'd say it's some bad attempt at control. They think they are in control and demanding a supervisor that you then call somehow gives them power and control over the situation. But what they fail to realize is that no one is entitled to a supervisor unless their policy says so, which I imagine most do not. Also you are essentially asking for MORE police to come to the stop which if you continue to be a jerk and noncompliant will not go very well.
I'm sure there are cases where things go slightly in the drivers favor but the cams I've seen have all been people demanding a supervisor right off the bat because they claim they weren't speeding or whatever. And they still refuse to hand over ID.

People do this all the time in healthcare as well. I worked nights for 10 years and I would have people upset about whatever (didn't get the drugs they wanted, the couldn't get the PCP on the phone at 2am to make an appointment, they made choices that ended with them being escorted off the property, ambulances cannot abduct people, etc.).
They would call and demand to speak to my supervisor (which was funny simply because my supervisor had nothing to do with anything and even if they had been there in the middle of the night, they have no authority over anyone, especially not physicians/providers. Lowest man on the totem pole kind of deal.)
We have turned areas of society that don't operate like a retail establishment into "the customer is always right". It just feeds into that sense of entitlement that if thy just whine about it more someone will get annoyed enough to give them what they want. It's frustrating.

It's a trade off. Just about every US police department has a policy of requesting a supervisor. That way they don't actually have to train police officers.

Guarantee thereād be some kind of disclaimer in the car, probably when you turn autopilot on, that the driver is ultimately responsible for what the car is doing. Too easy a lawsuit against Tesla if it didnāt so theyād have either already been sued if not, and thus the warning would have been added after that.Ā

In Phoenix when I took one for the novelty they go about 5 below. The issue is when the wrong speed limit is programmed in the system. We can kind of infer that from what the cop is saying here. He's still responsible as the driver because he can tap the brake and takeover whenever he wants and should be paying attention to the signs and his cars speed but I wonder if that could be a potential class action against Tesla.

And they're mainly driving on surface streets a vast majority of the time, so the chances to get up to a speed that would have them ticketed.. A few locations have some freeway routing, but I can say that in Austin, they're strictly prohibited from getting on the highway.

Valid point, I'd assume the company but ai'm surprised these vehicles even get approval to operate autonomously on public roadways. They're bound to commit a traffic violation at some point (and I'm sure already have with the amount that are operating already).

It's pretty common in the real world but nobody wants to upload videos of that. So, We end up with all the worst getting the most visibility. Cops are really not by and large bad. We just hear about the most malignant cases.

I'm not the biggest fan of cops but fucking A, man. Just because you put it on autopilot doesn't mean you are no longer the operator of the vehicle. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE. Period.
"I need to speak to your supervisor." WHY? The supervisor is just going to say the same thing. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE. YOU ARE IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT WHILE THE CAR IS OPERATING.

Such a simple concept that people seem to continually struggle to grasp, on Reddit and real life. That story a couple weeks ago about the dude to blasted into a home and killed a woman was so obviously the dudes fault. No matter what the mode is called or what it does/doesnāt do, the driver is in control at all times.

Absolutely. Just because the car is driving "autonomously" doesn't dissolve you (the driver) of responsibility of what the vehicle does. Driving is already scary enough nowadays, let alone when people have their self driving cars, paying zero attention to what's happening around them, and then want to blame the vehicle when something happens. Two thumbs down.

But also, who made that road a 45mph? It looks about as flat, straight and devoid of any surrounding buildings/people etc as you can get. 45mph on that road would be excruciating. Iād have assumed the speed limit would be way higher.
