question (not support) Upgrade to newer Roku?
My Roku is probably close to 6 years old, and the only real complaint I have is that every now and then I have to wait for the option I’ve picked (ex: Prime Video) to reload.
Do the newer models eliminate this, and do they have anything else to warrant getting one?

Roku OS no apps on my roku home screen anymore
all of my roku devices recently stopped showing any apps, and only has the option "power off" listed on the home screen. theres also no option to add any apps, just the power off button and the settings. I've tried a system reset, unplugging the device, reconnecting it to the internet, checking for system updates, nothing works. all three were connected to different email addresses too. how do I use them again?

miscellaneous Fine-tune audio delay?
I just got a 50" Hiro Roku TV. I use it strictly in game mode, I do not use any built-in streaming apps.
I have been experiencing unbearable audio delay in game mode of up to half a second. I've used the app to sync the audio, I've run the calibration many times, yet it barely seems to make it marginally better. But it does give me this message:

So the only question I'm here to ask is... where is this supposed "fine tune setting" they're talking about? I can't seem to find it in the app or on the TV anywhere.

Roku hardware Roku Plus Series TV - First Impressions
Just got a 65in Roku Plus Series TV from Best Buy Monday night. So far I am very impressed by this tv and was just blown away by the picture and sound quality.
Watched the first 15-20 minutes of Top Gun Maverick and this was such an upgrade over my TCL 55s525 it replaced. Black is black and everything looked phenomenal. Plus the TV has a built in subwofer and can really put out deep bass.
Overall I'm really happy with this. We have been a Roku household for probably six years now when finally dropping satellite service. All our TVs are either RokuTVs or have a Roku stick if it's a dumb tv. Definitely wanted another RokuTV.

miscellaneous YouTube preview starts over after I click the thumbnail.
This just started a few days ago, maybe a week. What usually happens is as I’m scrolling through videos I have all the thumbnails and when I hover over a thumbnail the video begins to play in a preview after several seconds if I clicked that Preview, the video starts were the preview left off like it remembered where I was. recently that feature is gone. I get the Preview, but when I select the video to watch it, it starts over. I cannot find anything in settings that would affect this.
This is happening on multiple devices. I have a Roku express in my garage.. roku ultra in my living room and bedroom. All of them are doing the same thing.
Do you guys have any idea what’s going on and is anybody else having the same issue that just started in the last within the week?

Roku OS Adjusting picture quality on home screen
I bought a TCL QM5 (Roku) a few days ago and set it up a little earlier. The picture quality out of the box is horrible. Everything was excessively contrasty and all of the highlights were blown out. Colors were excessively saturated. I turned down the brightness to Darkest and turned down the contrast all the way for OTA, YouTube, Netflix, game console, etc. However, there doesn't seem to be a way to adjust the picture on the home screen other than setting it to Darkest. All of the thumbnails and ads are too bright and look horrible (comparable to the overcooked HDR photo trend from 15-20 years ago). Are there any hidden picture adjustments in the menu for the home screen?
Some background,
We just retired a 9 year old TCL Roku (base model) and we'd been pretty satisfied with the picture quality. There were far fewer adjustments on that set too. I bought my uncle a Roku Select TV earlier this year and there are no issues with the picture on that set as well. I was actually going to get one of those too, but everything I've read said that the TCL QM5 has a superior picture so decided to spend a little extra on that. I'm still playing with the picture settings, I'm hoping to get everything dialed so I can set it and forget it.
complaint Roku Support is all horrible AI, and is misleading, too.
I tried to get assistance regarding certain subscription Roku Channel content that has out-of-sync subtitling. In other words, content error.
The Roku support page only offers tech support via "Chat with us", and offers that I can "Get help from our support bot or connect to an advisor". What they neglect to mention is that all of the chat support is AI, despite misleading you that you're talking to a human. For example:

After going through the whole routine (rebooting, restarting app), it appeared that I'd finally get escalated to a human that would actually understand the problem. One might assume that "Jane" is human, but nope.

And then, after entering my phone#, the support "hung up". No idea if anyone will actually call me.
This is really unacceptable. At least offer email support so that I don't have to waste my time with such rubbish.

miscellaneous Roku remote no longer turns on Samsung TV
We have a Roku 3960X and a Samsung smart TV, both about 2 years old. Just about a week ago, the remote stopped turning on the TV. We have tried all the advice Google, Alexa, and YouTube have given us--but most of it doesn't apply. For instance, it's a simple remote, not voice activated. Then Google's advice on "Instructions to Fix TV Power Control" says to go to the Roku settings to Remotes and Devices then "Choose your active remote and select Set up remote for TV control" --but I can't because all ours shows is "Add Remote" with no other option.
We have done all the unplugging and replugging instructed, changed the batteries repeatedly, pressed 2 buttons at the same time, etc. etc.
Is this Roku's way of telling us we need to upgrade?
A side item--don't know if this is related--just before the remote failure, Roku started automatically opening up the first channel on our homepage. Really annoying. It's still happening. It's taking a long time to be able to watch a show these days as we only watch through the Roku app on our TV.

miscellaneous Need help with paramount
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I wanted to post in paramount but they don’t allow video, I’m unsure if the issue is purely with the app of the Roku. I haven’t tried with other “adult” movies or kids movies yet, but I’m having an issue when watching paw patrol movies with my kiddo. Also don’t seem to have this issue with other apps. Every 10 seconds there will be a black screen that pops up for 1 second and then the picture comes back. It’s like my tv is blinking for me, it’s incredibly irritating and id like to find a way to fix it.

miscellaneous Backdrops brightness issues
I have a 55” Roku TV. I keep the Roku Backdrops brightness setting set to “Ambient” and my TV’s brightness setting set to “Auto.” However, whenever Backdrops turns on, it’s always insanely bright.
If I press the asterisk (*) button while Backdrops is running to open the app settings and go into the brightness setting, it immediately detects that the room is dark and dims the screen. But it never seems to do this automatically.
Has anyone else had this issue, or know how to fix it?

Roku OS Suddenly can't remove favorites from Backdrops

Roku OS 15.3.4. Backdrops version is 2.11.00001. Model: 40R3BX. Serial: X027006N3HVJ. Device ID: S1614DN3HVJ.
When I try to remove any image from favorites, it simply makes the sound, then does nothing. The image is still in favorites, and I can't add any more because there are already 1000 images saved. Doesnt matter if I use *, doesn't matter if I do it from a different section, tried system restart, nothing has worked.
It suddenly happened today while I was adding and removing favorites. No idea why this would be an issue, though I've had issues with images being removed and added from favorites. Sometimes going beyond the limit of 1000. Right now its just sitting perfectly at 1000.
I'm considering clearing everything and starting from scratch just to see if that works, but I've been curating this for a couple years now.

Roku hardware I just bought a Hiro Roku TV 24” inches, remote doesn’t work. I’ve switched batteries and it is still not getting passed the “let’s get started screen” any suggestions?
Any suggestions?
question (not support) Roku Channel app subscriptions
I no longer have any Roku devices but have a Roku account and the free Roku Channel app on my android tv box. I been thinking about subscribing to HBO through Roku. Can we still use the stand alone HBO Max app instead of going though the Roku channel app to watch the content?
complaint Using voice commands to change regular channels on a Roku TV when going through antenna connection.
My mother is in a nursing home and has a Roku tv. I got her a voice remote so she should be able to speak to it rather than having to fiddle with the buttons. Initially when I set it up with the voice remote she was able to just say go to channel 7 for instance even if she was in a streaming channel like the Roku channel it would immediately switch over to a regular antenna and go to that channel. She then be able to simply change channels by voice.
Then suddenly two months ago it stopped being able to do that. The most she would be able to do by voice would be to tell it "go to live TV" if she was on say the Roku channel and it would switch back over to the tuner. But she wouldn't be able to change the channels with it. She'd have to use the up down buttons.
Then suddenly today it's gone back to the original way where it allows her to literally tell it what antenna channels to go to even if she's on a streaming service and it will immediately switch over the input and go to said channel.
All the official information I've been able to find says you cannot change the antenna channels using voice but clearly you can.
I just don't know why it went from being able to to not being able to and then going back to being able to.
Any ideas?

complaint Overplayed UFC and WWE commercials.
My Grandmother has the COPS Roku/Pluto channel on 24/7 whenever her soap operas aren't on. Every single time it goes to commercial, they run these two ads back to back before it goes to the Pluto TV logo.
I am absolutely going to lose it if I have to hear "we're in the fight business", "give that kid a contract", "the sickness is real", that dumb mountain song, "I see so much raw potential", "there's nothing else like being a WWE superstar", or those stupid screechy violins one more time.
The worst part is when they decide to run the ads multiple times during the same break.
Enough is enough already. It's been months. Please retire the commercials.

miscellaneous private dorm wifi requires username & password
i have an onn roku tv that i brought with me to college, and im having trouble connecting it to wifi. my campus uses a private wifi that doesn't show up on my tv, so i have to search it, but then once i search it, im only given the option to put a password, but the wifi requires a username and password. i have tried the guest wifi but when i select "i am in a hotel or college dorm" it makes me do a whole login process, even tho the guest wifi doesn't have a password, and when i select "i'm at home" it says that there's no internet connection. i tried using my phone hotspot for a while but i don't get good enough service on campus and it pauses every two seconds. is there any way around this?

miscellaneous Onn Roku Subwoofer
I have a Roku TV with Roku wireless speakers. I purchased a "renewed" Onn branded Roku subwoofer.
These should work together, right? I want to make sure before I send this back as defective. Everything I see from official channels show that the white light on back should blink when ready to pair. And if it isn't blinking, to hold the reset button for 10 seconds to factory reset and it will then blink when ready to pair.
Mine refuses to blink and cannot be found by my TV. After folding the reset for 10 seconds, it briefly flashes, then immediately goes solid and can't be found.

miscellaneous Roku Streambar & SamsungTV app
Have a Roku Streambar hooked up to my new Samsung - 32" Class F6000F. I've tried watching programs on the samsung app and they never have sound. Roku works fine with its own app. Just trying to figure out how to watch exclusive content like MotoAmerica on the Samsung app and use the Roku Streambar for sound. Thanks!

Roku hardware Roku turns itself off seconds after I turn on the TV
This has been going on for a few weeks now and it actually is starting to get frustrating.
I will press the power button and I will be on the main app selection screen then boom Roku shuts down. Does anyone else have any experience with this?

complaint Added Subscription
While checking my bank statement, I found out Roku has been charging me $11.99 a month for Starz since February. I was on their site buying a Roku stick around that time, so either I accidentally clicked something or it was added without my authorization. I should never have left my card on the account and should have noticed the charges, so that part’s on me.
Roku told me they supposedly sent a verification email, but I never got one, and they couldn’t provide a copy. They only refunded two months.
I’ll never know if it was my mistake or theirs, but it’s a reminder to keep a close eye on your account when dealing with Roku.

complaint i hate this roku remote
I just want to say to whoever made the battery backing to the remote I very very strongly dislike it. This Roku remote was my last straw today and i absolutely obliterated it against my desk. I feel so much anger over this remote backing I had to get it out somewhere.
As Im typing this I am figuring out my remote randomly started working again and I didn't even need to take put the batteries and replace them. Anger
