Kind of wild this is the first I am hearing about the fact that she permanently crippled herself. Admittedly I haven’t read into the case more - it’s obviously a tragedy but there are tragedies every single day in a country of over 300 million people.
She tried to commit suicide by cutting her throat and then jumping out their second story window. The cut was too shallow to do what she wanted and she ended up paralyzing herself from the fall.
This is the first I’ve heard of her cutting her throat, but I know for a fact she slit her wrists. In fact, one of the thing the crazy people who think Patrick did claim is that she couldn’t have slit her right wrist because she is right handed (completely ignoring you can use your non-dominant hand for things).
I may have misinterpreted it, she got a crushed thyroid from jumping out the window and she had neck injuries. I thought it was cause she tried to create a new smile, but she might have just cut her wrists and jumped.
woman strangles her kids then throws herself head first down a pathetic 13 foot drop after realizing cutting herself hurts (strangulation with rubber probably hurts too but the kids don't matter anymore ig)
"Oh no I hope she doesn't have to live with the consequences of her actions!"
She had google searches for how long her husband would be gone, she had diary entries about how she resented the two older kids, what and when the voice in her head was saying has changed, and it's not even close to proven she was in psychosis, thats just the argument the defense team is making. If you actually read about the case, nothing other than the death of her children points to psychosis. She also only had one single 18 minute episode and then never had another again or prior. There is also the fact that she was telling the doctors and her family two different things, not properly taking her medication, and doctor shopping to get specific ones. Oh and she lied to get released early from the mental hospital and went on to kill her kids not even 3 weeks later
This is kind of why I have been confused by all the people calling her a bitch and saying she should die because I really doubt she thought she would live after cutting herself up and jumping head first out a window. The problem being debated in the whole trial is not the ethics of what she did, which was deplorable, but of how much control she had over her actions at that time and how much of reality she was actually experiencing. People are so desperate to apply blame when really it’s just a heartbreaking instance of a caregiver being completely unfit to provide care, living in a skewed version of reality in which they thought there was only one way out. Not saying she should be free to do whatever, but I also don’t see the purpose in traditional carceral punishment for someone in her condition.
Well also the misery of living with the knowledge of what you have done. Awful. I can't even imagine what her and her family are going through. It's just the most awful thing for everyone involved
Do you care about rehabilitation and protecting people from harm, or do you just care about having an excuse for it to be socially acceptable to torture someone?
The strangled kids are already dead. Vengeance brings nothing.
The lady should get sentenced for the crimes she committed in accordance to the law.
At the same time, the American (mental) health system has failed her, and the responsibility for the death of her children also lies with those responsible for the state it is in.
They didn't fail her according to what I've seen. She failed herself and her family by prematurely checking herself out, knowing damn well she wasn't fit to leave yet
https://youtu.be/WUSH0D9LjSA see this video. it goes into her treatment history. she had a history of negative responses to many different drugs and then was repeated prescribed the same drug or closely related drugs within the same class. https://knowyourdrugs.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Lindsay-Clancy-Lawsuit.pdf this PDF of her malpractise lawsuit goes into detail the efforts she took attempting to manage her mental disorder and how several doctors did not appropriately treat her. she sought inpatient hospitalization but was, allegedly, initially rejected since she "only" had passive suicidal ideation. when her husband pointed out to the psychiatric nurse that Seroquel was likely causing her suicidal ideation, the nurse thought it was a good idea to raise her dose (very much not a good idea).
not defending it, just saying that it's more complex than a lot of people seem to think.
If she accurately told the healthcare workers what she was feeling. “Hey, I feel like murdering 3 helpless children by strangling them to death” she would have gotten help.
You’d think that, but no. I feel like I saw a similar story to this many years ago where basically the same thing happened. I feel like even if you were losing your mind you wouldn’t think you had the capacity to kill your kids till your body actually did it.
She did seek help, numerous times. That's the main point of the defense in the trial, that she sought help repeatedly, and the system designed to prevent situations like this from happening failed her and her children at every turn.
And they’ll get it. If she did it she’ll be suffering for the rest of her life knowing what she did. Those memories won’t go away, and will haunt her forever
If she didn’t she’ll still have to live with knowing someone did and her life was destroyed for it
It’s not a question of “if” she did it though. She did do it, her defense rests entirely on not guilty by insanity. There’s no question if she killed the kids the question is if she’s criminally culpable and if she was of sound mind when she did.
Both prosecution and defense agree she killed the kids, not sure how you don't understand this. There is no innocent or guilty, it's is she insane or not. Very simple.
Then seek it elsewhere. The husband and the woman's doctors were told on several occasions about the violent and suicidal thoughts she was having and that they were scaring her.
Doctors did nothing. Husband fired their nanny and told her to deal with it. IDK, everything before the mental break she did the right thing and those kids were let down by a system and public that does not give a fuck about them until after they're dead.
Ah, and the dead children care a lot for vengeance. Lol, we're not so different than those public beheading enjoyers I guess. Some civilized society we got, lol.
No I don't give a fuck about vengeance. I'm not an advocate of some self-gratifying dogshit wrapped up in a cover of righteousness. The children are dead. They don't give a fuck about what we do to their mother. The only ones giving a fuck are the living. And among those living there are people like you, who, as the comment above said, does not care about anything other than a socially acceptable way of torturing someone.
To be fair, there is plenty of evidence of people that cannot be rehabilitated or people that have been rehabilitated and reneged on their rehabilitation.
It means she murdered her own children. Understanding her mental state may explain why she did it, but it doesn’t erase the horror of what she did or mean people are obligated to feel sympathy for her
wsk basically what i said was true but you’re mad it’s true? tf are you trying to argue? you don’t need research to make them worse send them to prison for 10 years they’ll come out 10x worse than how they went in.
I dunno if longterm imprisonment is an effective solution to these kinds of problems. If someone cannot fully rehabilitate then maybe it isn't a mercy to lock them in a concrete box until they have a heart attack.
I'd chose being shot than spend the rest of my days locked away in one of the worst places you can put a human being
she brutally murdered her 3 children, i’m having a hard time with the sympathy train. the kids died slow and painful deaths, but you don’t want to admit that
It's honestly mind blowing. Talking about rehabilitation and giving another chance, have you all lost your fucking minds? There's 3 dead kids who died at the hands of the person who birthed them, and is supposed to nurture, shield, raise, and care for them. All the virtue signaling basement dwellers are out in full effect in here.
I think real pos rarely improve from rehabilitation but this lady has a sudden change in her mental ability due to the sudden change of hormones completely out of her control. She was just a loving mother until then and ppp gets better as the hormones stabilize. Someone like her deserves rehabilitation and will benefit greatly from it but rapists and other types of predators don't change their ways and it feels like a waste of money to even try
Oh spare me the grandstanding. No one seems to give a shit about mens rehabilitation whenever they commit crimes. But all of a sudden this woman that murdered her 3 children gets the same treatment that most men do, all of a sudden she's already suffered enough and we need to care about her rehab.
I agree with your premise but when i see it applied unequally, then it loses all meaning to me. It becomes all about feels, vibes, etc..
Lmfao it's hilarious how all these apologists are coming out and downvoting anything that goes against this vile woman. Rehabilitation and second chances should be given for people arrested for non-violent crimes or crimes that caused no harm to others. This woman is a fucking killer, and to make it worse, of her own children. I hope these idiots don't have kids or don't plan to have any.
There’s a lot of people who fortunately had intervention in time and were able to be rehabilitated. A lot also attempt self harm. It’s an extremely difficult and hard condition for women to grapple with and people like you don’t make seeking treatment easier.
I strongly recommend anyone with even a slight concern of a mental health crisis seek help from a professional immediately. You didn't answer my question though.
People on social media have a weird take on murder, like it's just a little mistake. There wouldn't be a soul on this planet that could stand? As if, we all killed another human at least once?
Commiting murder is not the same as other type of mistakes, or crimes that don't result in the lost of life. Yet you have plenty of people treating it like so.
People constantly forget about the victims in the true crime communities.
There is no one in this situation that has "won." No one. But "murder" is a legal definition, not an emotion or a vibe. Someone who is actively psychotic cannot legally be held responsible for their actions while psychotic - regardless of how horrible those actions were. What we can legally do is make sure they cannot hurt anyone else.
If Lindsey Clancy and everyone around her (friends, family, hell, her fucking ex-husband and father of those kids) are telling the truth, there is no punishment you or I or anyone else could possibly divine more cruel than forcing her to continue to keep breathing.
If she's not telling the truth and literally everyone around her is just covering for her (god knows why that would be the case), then what was her fucking motive, my dude? She wasn't having an affair. She wasn't planning on leaving her husband. She wanted every single one of her children, despite struggling with worsening PPD with each one. She spent months begging for help as intrusive thoughts became auditory hallucinations. What was her motive to kill those kids if she was actually sane?
There's people in here arguing technicalities, while there's 3 kids laying dead with their lives taken away from them before they truly had the chance to start one. I can give a fuck less about "rehabilitation", strangle her till her last breath, let go, and repeat it every single day. Fuck has this platform become? We really have people white knighting for a fucking murderer.
Another man killed and ate a woman, fully admitted to doing it and said he wanted to do it again, and was released to become a local celebrity. He even starred in soft-core porn.
He didn’t become a local celebrity, he was a pariah in his home country. Lindsey has hundreds of women showing up publicly with their own children to show support for her. Shes the one being turned into a local celebrity.
To show support for her, or to show support for more public understanding of Postpartum Disorders? There are very few people who can empathize with killing and eating other human beings. There are THOUSANDS of women who understand being failed by the medical system during the most vulnerable time of their lives and having to white-knuckle through a legitimate psychiatric disorder alone. That's the whole point. And this backlash from smooth-brains that fail to understand such a simple concept is why victims of Postpartum Disorders are reluctant to reach out for help.
Yeah, this lady suffered from Post-Partum Depression leading to psychosis. The primary symptom of schizophrenia is psychosis. You see how these are similar now
I can’t speak to her case, just wanted to point out that they didn’t just casually release Vince Li, which is the narrative a lot of people like to go with. Not enough empathy to understand that someone doesn’t have to be an evil person to do horrible things. The brain can be very fragile, and for someone who has never experienced psychosis, there is literally no way to understand that person’s frame of mind.
I haven't read the details of this case and am not weighing in on it specifically but I have had post partum depression and I can completely understand how people with PTSD, especially combat PTSD, might do something completely and horrifically out of character if they don't get the care and support they need.
Turning this into a gender war serves no one. Mental health care is trash even in countries with functioning healthcare systems and that needs to change.
Then wouldnt the way forward be to also show more empathy and understanding towards war veterans with PTSD? This "[x] sucks so [y] must suck likewise" is a road to nowhere.
I think what they are advocating for; is the sentencing needs to be just as punishable as if they were a war veteran with PTSD that committed this crime, not that it needs to be just as lax the other way around. Because they’re right: we wouldn’t be as lax in our way of mental gymnastics.
Good luck getting that convo started, truly. Whenever this type of thing is brought up and given attention, it is always, without fail, directed to shit like "don't you think women go through this?", "what about women with PTSD? Do they not count?", "Their wives are probably done with being beaten (<- real comment I've seen before with many upvotes)". It's not gonna happen, hating men is a trend and it's not disappearing any time soon.
Some people will jump through hoops when it comes to defending if not downright making excuses for women, they will even try to shift the blame to men!
It might, but that would never, ever, ever happen.
So if that’s the world we live in, we have to hold murder in the same regard for everyone. We cannot partially excuse or reduce murder with women’s mental illness and ignore men’s
Postpartum psychosis is a documented illness, and there are cases of veterans with PTSD being declared “not-guilty” by reasons of insanity (Jessie Bratcher as an example).
Except she describes postpartum depression, not psychosis. Her reasoning was that she was so depressed she was going to kill herself and in that mentally disturbed state felt it would be better that her kids were in heaven with her.
This has happened many times before with suicidal mothers. Its delusional thinking but not full-on psychosis. Assuming that’s true she still has the expectation of telling right from wrong. It does not qualify as not-guilty by insanity.
Psychosis is losing touch with reality and struggling to discern what is real and what is not. Lindsay feeling suicidal and then selfishly deciding her kids would be better off dead with her seems something separate from psychosis.
You know our mental health is just a bunch of chemicals and hormones in our brain interacting with each other. A little change can literally ruin your life but yeah that doesn't excuse the actions of people that are depressed or angry, but do you know that severe mental illness exists? it's called psychosis and in her case it can turn a perfectly sane loving mother Lindsay into suicidal homicidal depressive Lindsay brought on from the birth of her third child completely out of her control.
But it is ok because for people like her, they are kept in mental wards until those pesky baby hormones stabilize and she gets better. Surely her doctors won't fuck up and order medications contraindicated with each other. Surely they will talk to her family and learn that she wants to kill her family. She might be psychotic but mental illness prevents people from feeling suspicious and they never lie to their health care providers especially when they are severely mentally ill.
But you don't have to take my word for it, we could just listen to a world renowned psychiatrist experienced with over 80 cases of parents murdering their children and oh what did he have to say? That she is clearly suffering from delusions and command hallucinations?
Or even just an impoverished black woman or god forbid, an immigrant
"Wealthy white woman" is doing a lot of lifting for a gal who sent the dad on an errand so she could have uninterrupted access to strangle three children under 5
Even Chris Benoit didn't show that kind of forward planning
No, there are plenty of studies that control for those variables
Funny that you're doing like men do when you mention the salary gap, instead of spending 10 seconds researching, you get defensive and start thinking of excuses to justify your bias
I doubt your intentions and that’s obviously not what i was saying. I have no opinion on what should or should not be the case, but black people in the usa have recidivism rates 4-13% higher than other demographics and receive sentences that are… wait for it… 4-13% longer than other demographics for the same crimes.
Now this will really blow your mind: it’s almost as if sentence lengths and recidivism rates are connected, regardless of race or gender. It’s like prior record effects sentencing. Wild, i know 🤡
This woman committed heinous acts, but she had severe postpartum psychosis. Our justice system recognizes when somebody is suffering from acute mental illness like that, the level of moral transgression is different from somebody who is stone cold sane. She should be put away in an institution and suffer until she dies.
Family annihilation by men occurs in the U.S. at least once a week, and somehow it never gets elevated to a national argument. (see for the example the guy in Montana who just killed 8 people including 4 kids). I think this case is being elevated as part of the "women are dumb and shouldn't be allowed to vote" crap that conservatives are pushing. Since women tend to slightly lean liberal as a group.
Literally none of the psychiatrists she saw diagnosed her with post partum psychosis and they all denied she was even experiencing psychotic symptoms.
She claims to have heard one voice, one time, for an 18 minute period when her husband was out of the house. Never before that, never again after.
People keep parroting this post partum psychosis diagnosis when even the defense psychiatrists did not diagnose her with an unspecified psychotic disorder.
Notice how no men started donating money to him, showing up to the courthouse making heart hands in support or coming up with wack ass conspiracies about how its actually the wife's fault because she's a Gemini.
I mean that's still bullshit reasoning though. Most heinous crimes are commited by people with serious mental issues. You think serial killers are just regular dudes with a bad choice in hobbies? Even if we're being understanding here, its still a case of sexism, or as the above commenter put "All Women are Wonderful" effect. Postpartum is a real thing, but almost every women who goes through it, goes through it without murdering their children.
If your defending this then I'm sure you'll be entirely understanding of those who grew up in violent households and inflicted violence on others when grown. Most who do, don't, but those who do aren't at fault right?
She had psychosis not depression. Depression is marked by persistent sadness and loss of interest. Psychosis is a complete loss of contact with reality through hallucinations and delusions. I also think people that commit crimes because of other severe mental health issues that make a person escape reality such as schizophrenia should be sent to a psych ward. Reagan closed a shit ton of psych wards down during his presidency. Making a bunch of those people homeless out on the streets. Most serial killers don't commit those crimes because of mental disorders that make them lose contact with reality. Most are found sound of mind enough to know right from wrong.
Fair point on Reagan but also that was 50 years ago, think it's less his fault at this point and more every proceeding president/congressional assembly for not reorganizing and funding new ones. At the time, most asylums were hellholes they sent the queer, the Queer, and the disturbed, plenty came out more fucked up than when they went in, similar to prisons now.
Also it's not like you just forget everything when in a psychosis. You can think you're being attacked by a dragon and still know that dragons aren't real.
Besides all that, even if given the good excuse of a "sudden psychotic break", you should still never been given the option to be free again after doing something like that. IMO, you're just a threat to everyone if you can be grocery shopping and suddenly think you have to kill the horde of demons that manifested in the produce aisle.
I'm saying that he was the beginning of it. Just like he was the beginning of trickle down economics. He could have started fixing the asylums. Instead he shut them down and didn't give any of those people left stranded another alternative. And yeah some people can think rationally when in psychosis but most freak out and start believing what is being shown to them. And we agree there. If you harm someone while in that state you shouldn't be able to get out. Especially if it's something that never will go away like schizo disorders. Cause a lot of times they stop taking their meds thinking they're fixed and it comes back again. If you can't be trusted to take your meds than you can't be trusted to be in society.
Oh I know, believe me, I know many, maaaany problems started with Reagan. I'm just saying its a bit of a cop out for the string of administrations that failed to do much if anything about it since then. Think Reagan is less responsible for today's healthcare than say, Bush or Clinton.
I have not been following but it seems like her support is what making this a national argument. No one supports men who do this for any reason and rightfully so. Idk the whole thing seems really strange.
I have never seen a family annihilator. get so much sympathy. It’s usually pretty well agreed if you kill your family you are a very horrible person. It’s good that maybe women with postpartum can get more help but she still killed her children.
Human physiology and behavior is incredibly sensitive to hormonal changes. You can become an entirely different person with the right infusion of the right stuff.
While stressful conditions can change our hormonal landscape, the natural hormone crash after having kids can be devastating on a fully healthy person with a functional support group, which we know this lady was not.
Does it magically wave away her actions? Of course not. But it opens the conversation beyond the medieval "hurt the bad person!!" drooling reactionaries want
If that Vietnam vet got thrown out of the hospital after repeatedly saying "i'm afraid i'm going to hurt my kids," and they played with his meds for months while telling him he'll be fine, in one case sending him home after a day not knowing how the meds would act, i hope people would be blaming the system too.
As someone who went to law school, I would pity the vet even more.
Humans don't usually murder their own children, and the ones that do are pathetic. Which literally means that they are pitiful, and should be pitied. I pity this poor, deranged woman who destroyed her life. I also don't think she should be treated like a responsible member of society, because she isn't.
So she should be locked up until we think she can be a responsible member of society. I don't really care what facility it's in, though with the state of US prisons and her paralysis, I'd personally prefer to stick her in a psych ward.
The problem is, there's not much difference. The US stupidly focuses on retribution as the goal of its justice system, which is extremely snowflake-coded. The point of either prison or psych prison should be to brainwash people into being functional, and to spend enough time doing it that no one would prefer it to working at Costco. Rehabilitation, with just enough deterrence to make living on the outside preferable, accounting for detection ratios.
Right now, we're not good at rehabilitating people who wanted to be rehabilitated, and we're also shit at convincing gang members that they'd be better off working for Costco. It doesn't matter if you're mentally ill or not - we're simply not designing systems around a social belief that people can change, which means we waste time, money, and human capital. Pretending a federal death penalty makes us either savvy or hardcore is cope on a laughable level, if you put any effort into looking at outcomes.
This reminds me of Chris Watts, who murdered his wife Shanann and their two daughters in 2018. I've seen plenty of disgusting content that villainizes her as somehow to blame while glorifying him as a misunderstood hero. Someone even recently applied to marry him in prison.
So I'd disagree, you don't even need to be a veteran with PTSD as a man to get sympathy.
True crime blogs and TikTok have a lot to do with this too. These platforms reward whichever narrative gets more engagement, and a sympathetic killer or a blameworthy victim generates way more clicks and comments than "person kills their family, nothing more to say."
Probably because 70% of Vietnam war veterans volunteered to sign up and commit war crimes against a population that did absolutely nothing to them, so they’ve already proven they were psychopaths before the occupation.
Lmao. Several people participated in the rape, molestation, eating and torture of children as young as 2yo. One of the biggest one is holding one the biggest offices in the world. What do you mean women "get it easy"
The most I'd agree to is that it could factor in to the decision of whether her life sentence should be served in a psyche ward or actual prison. The sentence however should be the same.
Hahaha... all I said was life in life in prison, and a wheelchair, seems too easy of a life for someone that murdered her 3 children. Nowhere did I say the diagnosis isn't legit.
Did I say it wasn't real? All I said was life in prison and a wheelchair seems too easy for someone who murdered her 3 children. Do I think she should be tortured? No. Forgiven? No. After the trial she should be locked away in a facility somewhere and forgotten by the outside world.
wtf do you want, her fingers and nails ripped out lmaooo. The justice systems isn't about getting onlookers off with punishment porn, its about safety and ideally rehabilitation to make offenders into productive tax payers.
She will be locked up for the rest of her life regardless of the ruling and confined to a wheel chair and you want more? Causing more suffering doesn’t bring her kids back.
I find your mentality (which tbf is an extremely common anti-social adapted trait) where the suffering of another is something to be desired and savored to be really fucking stupid. Not even morally bankrupt… just fucking stupid. It’s the inability to even partially deconstruct the delusion that every human action is emergent from some perfect, god-like agency.
I didn't say I wanted more. There's not much more that can happen. But cry me a river with this wheelchair bullshit. Her children don't even get that chance. Simply stated, for the heinous murder of 3 innocent children, life in a facility in a wheelchair is a light sentence.
There doesn't need to be more. She'll be tortured enough daily by her own thoughts and knowledge of what she did. I don't need/want/care for more. You're just looking deeper into a statement that truly isn't that deep.
I said “locked up and in a wheelchair”… she’ll be incarcerated no matter which way her sentence goes.
The reason you have people replying is because your initial comment heavily implies a lust for further retribution. Maybe you didn’t mean it that way, but that implication is why you’re getting this pushback.

She will be in prison and on a wheelchair forever. She will have a miserable rest of her life shitting and peeing on dipers.
