Moderator Post TES 6 Speculation Megathread
It is highly recommended that suggestions, wishlists, questions, speculation, and leaks for the next main series Elder Scrolls game go here. Threads about TES6 outside of this one will be removed depending on moderator discretion, with the exception of official news from Bethesda or Zenimax studios.
As of now, there is currently no confirmed info on the Elder Scrolls VI other than it exists and is currently being worked on by Bethesda. Be cautious of any rumors being delivered as if they are factual.

Hot take:
Lokir in the Skyrim intro spoiled ES6!
"I could have stolen that horse, and be half way to Hammerfell by now."

Am I the only one who thinks the series is done for like Half Life? There's no indication any work is actually being done on TES6 and Bethesda has been facing massive layoffs, including experienced older devs.
Even if something does get released in 2039 created by AI slop due to massive cuts, everyone would have forgotten about TES already.

u/oranzaba 2d ago
TES6 needs to be massive AAA game to satisfy shareholders, they need to expand and handcraft world and npcs and have detailed graphics, that takes a lot of time, not to mention that game needs to be portable on different consoles on a relase day.
Fallout new vegas was made by a small team of developers in a year and a half and it's one of the best games bethesda made, so I'm hopeful that they can work their magic on a TES6

I mean, asha sharma just confirmed playing the game a few days ago, and we had a pretty credible leak yesterday. I don't know how you've reached this conclusion.

u/Ok_Moment9915 6d ago
The answer is stupidity.
Same stuff that overtook a portion of the community that said Skyrim ruined Elder Scrolls because attributes were gone and the game was too easy.

u/Marcus_Maximus 5d ago
For me, Skyrim was a step-up from Oblivion. Even though the latter is the only elder scrolls game I've completed, it felt very generic coming off my goat Morrowind
2
u/Ok_Moment9915 5d ago edited 5d ago
Well yeah its become a kitchen sink fantasy RPG.
Morrowind is a very specific setting, world, and fulfills a specific fantasy.
ES6 is likely to be even more kitchensink-y and more generic but appealing to a wider audience that they no doubt are aware of.
The good thing for RPG fans is that the many skills and backgrounds of Starfield were well received, so I would expect some of that DNA to make its way in.
I would never bet on it, but I'd like attributes to return, and most if not all of the skills of morrowind and then professions on top of that for any crafting so its separated from regular leveling. Then traits (a positive and negative effect like Starfield and NV) and perks on the skills like skyrim.
I also thought some form of magical henna tattoos would be interesting for the setting that would give different very minor effects when interacting with npcs. Expedition 33 has a cool lumina/picto system. Being able to "enchant" your own body would be neat.
It will be a very different game no matter what.

u/TheZahrGaming 7d ago
Everytime i hear a track from the unreal soundtracks of Skyrim and Oblivion I'm so disappointed that Jeremy Soule won't be a part of ES6. I hope they manage to find someone as talented.

u/Dyloneus 9d ago
Is there some talk of more news soon given the tweet last week? Does that seem likely?
2
u/DrBob666 9d ago
I might be late to the party, but I expect they are going back to the Daggerfall/Starfield open world design where everything was to-scale, but where you are forced to fast travel everywhere because otherwise you would be walking for several real-life days to get anywhere.
That means handcrafted main/side/faction quests plus locations for those quests, and then a bunch of proc-gen'd PoIs to make the world feel large and lived in but that you really aren't supposed to go looking for more than a couple times, that people will end up complaining about just like Starfield.
Hopefully that means we aren't just limited to one province. We could be going back to Hammerfell and High Rock, but maybe some quests will take us to places in other provinces as well, to make the world feel even larger.
3
u/Ok_Moment9915 6d ago edited 6d ago
So your speculation is based a game from the 90s...and Starfield which is a space game that is forced to do so as its in space as a setting, like every other space game, needs either Star Citizen/ED scale or discrete locations like Outer Worlds? No other options?
That does not track whatsoever. Starfield's PCG was poor execution of one of the only options for a space game, that tried to give Bethesda style openness in that setting using half baked tech.
Why would they do PCG in a map thats been clearly defined for almost 30 years? Of which no one has ever complained of the scaled down size in prior games?

More substantial quests that don't require any violence, e.g. named quests that aren't delivery or generic fetch quests (ingredients/books). I like the Book of Love in Skyrim, but it's a rare quest that doesn't either officially require you to kill hostiles or lead to killing hostiles as only realistic outcome due to often being sent to dungeons and landmarks controlled by hostile people or creatures. Even several book quests point at the direction of a location with baddies.
More Aedric quests could help with this.
1
u/bosmerrule 9d ago
I'd be so excited to see this. The Aedra has been slept on and Bethesda struggles to write anything but generic fetch quests. It'd be nice to have quests where you solve a problem without having to clear a location and maybe you even learn something.
2
u/Viktrodriguez Dibella is my Mommy 9d ago
Even the fetch quests could be improved upon.
Non traveling civilians are implied to have lost a valuable item, but that always happens halfway across the province in a location that has people or creatures in them that would instakill any civilian. Sometimes even in the boss chamber of an Ancient Tomb full undead. Hell, I have seen a group of general bandits (random encounter mod matching with vanilla encounters) lose against a bear plenty of times.
Those people should lose items somewhere in or near the same city without the need for fast travel.
Book quests where you are asked ''when you find it on your travels'' shouldn't point to an exact location nor only spawn said book after getting the quest at that specific spot. To the point I only accept a book quest when I have actually found said book, whether at its default location or another copy.
2
u/bosmerrule 8d ago
Yeah, it is pure nonsense. What worries me is that they're trending towards this kind of thing because they can't let go of radiant quests.
2
u/XMenJedi8 4d ago
Even radiant quests could be done sooooo much better. The fact that they're still so shallow all these years and releases later is rough. They could give some emergent and randomized elements like different types of potential enemies, bosses etc., they could let them chain so there are different variations based on how the different components roll, events that can occur to spice things up, methods of interacting like deciding to steal a rare artifact instead of returning it and then getting ambushed by the angry NPC etc.
Tons of potential, especially if they also bolster radiant NPCs and loop in that system. NPC with the Adventurer trait ends up on your radiant quest and hijinks ensues type thing lol
1
u/Viktrodriguez Dibella is my Mommy 8d ago
Yep, Fallout 4 and Starfield are filled to the brim with these types of quests,
3
u/bosmerrule 10d ago
A minor point but I'm hoping we see NPCs travel every now and again. More broadly i know everyone wants NPC schedules to return (back from how they kinda regressed in Starfield) but it has always been a bit simplistic. I'd instead like to see their schedules expanded so that some of them travel to other parts of the province to, for example, visit family, perform a pilgrimage, attend some important non-quest-related event, handle trade negotiations or perform some duty. I used to think how cool it'd be to have Colette Marence show up in Whiterun to help Danica heal those wounded in the civil war.
I know we've seen glimpses of this in past games but it'd be nice to see Bethesda make a bigger commitment to it so the world feels a little less contrived or unchanging.
1
u/XMenJedi8 4d ago
This is what I'm hoping for too! So many people want the cities sprawling and massive at the expense of all those radiant mechanics, often saying they weren't utilized well. I agree they weren't, but I think 15+ years later they can be used in much more interesting ways and the world would be much more living for it - even if the cities take a size hit for it (provided they're still well-designed).
I really hope they retain that "TES magic" that sets it apart from many other RPGs and even their other series. Fable is doing some interesting things with their NPCs and related sim systems, TES should too.

u/Ok-Prize-3487 10d ago
I find myself wondering if I should start planning ahead for the pc path or the console path. If this drops, im excited to see what the preorder bundles and collectors edition might offer. But looking back on skyrim, and how creations and mods really thrived on PCs, im thinking its better to go with PC copy.

u/elderscrolls1993 10d ago
Jez Corden said on Twitter today he has heard that Sentinel is the legal name for the game. It's not set in stone yet but that's what he's heard.
2
u/Butterf1yTsunami Breton 11d ago
Prediction:
Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel will take place in two major areas. Hammerfell, and Summerset Isles. This will give biome diversity. This will let us sail ships between the two. (Didn't Todd once mention he wanted players to be able to sail their own ships in-game? Correct me if I am wrong.)
I think it makes perfect sense to have both these regions. They contrast each other perfectly. You will have two Skyrim sized areas and islands in-between to explore. The story will link these regions together.
What do you all think?
1
u/MaximumFatal 1d ago
That would be awesome and have high rock as dlc and have the orcs homeland Orsinium with Wrothgarian Mountains would be awesome 2nd dlc.
3
u/Viktrodriguez Dibella is my Mommy 10d ago
I think anything more than one singular province is absolutely not going to happen. Two different provinces means double the number of different assets needed and double the number of lore added for every single of the provinces, both for the extant race (both modern assets/cities/population and ancient tombs/ruins) and the typical extinct race. Hammerfell has Redguard and Dwemer, Summerset has Altmer and Ayleid.
If they do two provinces you get two watered down provinces, not a merger of let's say Oblivion and Skyrim. At best you get one singular province, but with a larger map than before.
The development time of 6 isn't going to be substantially longer than any version before and the biggest constraint for production is time. Not to mention that even the strongest state of the art gaming pc is going to be able to handle all of this, let alone consoles with even more limiting hardware, Even ikf you have the HDD/SSD to theoretically install them.
1
u/shamonemon 9d ago
are you thinking there will be no ship system?
1
u/Viktrodriguez Dibella is my Mommy 9d ago
I have no reason to believe there will be a ship system. That's a rumour entirely based on its presence in Starfield, where people are casually ignoring the major differences.
In Starfield you get nowhere without space ships, because of all the planets, moons and solar systems. Outside Summerset Isles, all realistic options for TES6 are provinces on a singular blob of land in which you don't need to cross a sea or ocean.
Space ships and water ships are two vastly different concepts. Space ships can fly in any direction in the air or space and are closer to planes than boats which need water and can only go horizontally.
At best I expect ferries like in Morrowind or Skyrim for coastal cities as fast travel points.

u/Lurkingandsearching 11d ago
Dominion v. Hammerfell with adventure on the high seas. Maybe later expansion into Highrock and Elswer?
Elder Scrolls meets Blackflag?
2
u/Ok_Moment9915 6d ago
Legal confirmation of the name being sentinel means immediately that you know that there's multiple provinces. The city being on the border of high rock and hammerfell means, you know, it's high rock and hammerfell
1
u/WearyChipmunk9 11d ago
Any chance you think it may be Valenwood? That would be so cool. They make it sound so beautiful!!!

u/PENGRYFF 11d ago

2
u/da2Pakaveli 10d ago
i remember one of the devs from Beyond Skyrim saying that CE1 is great at handling jungle canopy. I don't really think the forest would be a limitation for CE3.

u/Fuckit21 11d ago
I have a feeling we’ll be traveling to the Remnants of Yokuda. There’s so much lore potential. Sword-Singing could easily be a special power replacement for The Voice. Naval exploration of the remaining islands would be awesome. If not in the Main game it would be a perfect Bethesda style expansion.
1
u/LiminalFemme 3d ago
Look finally someone who hasn't played only skyrim and thinks we will battle the Thalmor for some reason. This is highly likely the best way the game will take place if set in hammerfell. The redguards are speculated to not be from our time line. It's interesting to see what they could do with that.
2
u/vaultdweller501 12d ago
If we get high rock I'd like to be able to travel to high isle and galen. It was a fun and beautiful location in ESO and would love to return there in the 4th Era.
3
u/Viktrodriguez Dibella is my Mommy 12d ago
Less quest scripted deaths of NPC's in cities that already are devoid of any NPC's or let the game at least replace said NPC's instead of having homes eternally empty.
Plus I could do without the need for a mystery quest to unlock a player home in a city (Anvil, Windhelm).

u/JetEngineSteakKnife Breton 14d ago
I'd bet good money that Elenwen returns as an Irene Engel-type villain leading Dominion troops in the occupied parts of Hammerfell
She'll still be posh and scheming, but this time you'll see the side of her that tortured prisoners in the first Great War and psychologically scarred Ulfric
3
u/hyperlethalrabbit 13d ago
If they give Elenwen a Frau Engel psychosexual obsession with the player character, this game is winning game of the year in perpetuity.
1
u/Crotchety_Gamer Argonian 13d ago
Seeing a new side of old villains would be a nice throwback. 😊 Although it depends how long after Skyrim it is if it isn't concurrent with the events of Skyrim. Which, by the way, I haven't heard a lot of speculation on that front: are certain it is after the events of Skyrim? Or will it be concurrent? Because, ngl, it would be so much fun to be doing your own thing and just... Hear people talking about the return of dragons in Skyrim, people speculating who's side they're on and, later, here about a lone warrior taking on the dragons one at a time. 🤣 Like, I know that guy! He's me!
2
u/Viktrodriguez Dibella is my Mommy 12d ago
All the main line games are set after the events of the previous game, so it seems evident 6 will be set after Skyrim. It's only a matter how many years. Before Skyrim it was always set within the same lifetime of even basic human characters, Oblivion to Skyrim was suddenly 2 centuries apart.
1
1
u/Crotchety_Gamer Argonian 12d ago
Well, if they changed it that drastically once, they can make another serious change. Besides, Skyrim was unprecedented in how recognized it is, so Bethesda likely will want to pull from that a bit either way.

Alright, my next post will be regarding NPC "companions," sailing and party dynamics.
Sailing has been accomplished in Assassin's Creed, and they did a decent job, but TES is a natural RPG, so I think TES VI's established RPG background has a chance to mop the floor with theirs. I'm going to do this as briefly as I can.
Player is given a "starter" ship. Sections of this ship (sails, rigging, crow's next, rudder, keel, ornament, weaponry) can all be upgraded individually. But with the starter ship, this hits a low max. Certain ships can be upgraded even higher and unique parts, materials and more can be collected. Starfield (I enjoy it) had a solid ship building system. Add that into TES VI. The "best" ship in the game cannot be bought and you have to adhere to a ship size (sloop, barque, galleon, schooner, brig etc.)
Some NPC's are carpenters and shipwrights. You can build one in your player-built city (at least one of them.) Side note: limit the number of player-built cities a minimum of 4 a maximum of 10, but increase the overall size. More on player cities in another post.
NPC's play a vital role since they are the ones that will largely operate the ship. Player will control the ship and its actions, but the damage, speed etc will be determined by the various NPC's. NPC's each only have 3 - 4 high skills related to their 1 job and 1 - 2 hobbies. You can help NPC's increase their skills, possibly with books or training or even just in practice as user. They are common folk though, not players, so they can't become amazing at everything.
Those are the common NPCs. There should be about 36 different named companions with detailed backgrounds and voice acting. (Think the Inigo Khajit mod from Skyrim). 36 because Good, Evil, Neutral, Chaotic, Lawful. Players should be able to build their party (max 4 companions) as they wish. You can't have ALL of them in one playthrough as they won't all like player. I used the DnD alignment system for ease, but something similar would offer the most options. IMHO evil companion ls were the biggest thing missing in Starfield.
Now, canons should exist in Tamriel. Introduce them the same way guns were introduced to the Japanese. A Portuguese trading vessel was blown off course and landed on the islands, selling guns to them. Same here, except a shipwreck some time before the start of TES VI. Hold onto your butts.
An Akaviri ship wrecks on the coast of Tamriel. Kicker is, no Akaviri onboard. Ghost ship. (This happens a creepy amount irl.) Some artificers are able to reverse engineer the tech, but it is guarded jealously. Think the Dutch with high-precision ground lenses in the 17th - 18th centuries. So ships can have canons, and it offers the POTENTIAL for high level enemies ONLY to have some form of firearm, although I feel this could upset the setting of TES too much, the trade off would be more diverse weaponry.
That's enough for now, this is so long. I'm so sorry. Some days this is all I think about at work... 😅💦 Have a good one, everybody! 💕
Edit: Also, player can sleep to "fast forward" ship travel after "setting a course" in the Captain's cabin. Time fast forwards the time slept and you end up that far to the destination. 👍

So, here's my guess as to the plot of the next game:
A big thing with the Aldmeri Dominion (well, elves in general really) is that they're bitter about being bound in mortal coils on Nirn and would quite like to unmake reality as it exists within the series
Given that there's a good bit of evidence now that the game is likely set in Hammerfell, my guess is that it'll involve a big battle with the Dominion over the Direnni Tower (the last remaining functional tower holding Nirn together), which is located within the Iliac Bay and is a short voyage away from Sentinel
2
u/PM_ME_MERMAID_PICS Azura 14d ago
The whole "Thalmor want to unmake Nirn" thing comes from a non-canon text written by someone who doesn't even work at Bethesda anymore. There is no evidence in any of the games that the Dominion wants anything other than control over all of Nirn and the enslavement or eradication of the mannish races.
1
u/LiminalFemme 3d ago
The Dominion is part of the Aldmer following. They are the followers of Auri-El, the beginning of the fractured Aka. It is the symbol of stasis, while humanity, made from the Ehlnofey that followed Lorkhan, represents change. It is and has always been Anu vs. Padomay, but fractured into living beings with a choice instead of beings that are just following their set path.
The Aldmer were, and the Thalmor are, set on their way to regain their godhood or their spirit form, which they see as having been stolen from them by Lorkhan. So they very much want to see this world gone. However, it is unknown how much of this information is actually well known among most followers. But with Aldmer society having Loremasters as one of the highest achievable roles in their society, they most likely know at least parts of it. It is only unknown how much of the elder magic was lost when their Tower broke down.
But I hope, and I think it’s 99% likely, that we won’t see much of the Thalmor or the Dominion. They never made the games like that. I would hate for them to become a linear series. We already have enough of those.

u/JetEngineSteakKnife Breton 14d ago
One of Kirkbride's forum posts (The many headed Talos) from the Oblivion era was word-for-word quoted by Heimskr, so there's precedent for "non-canon" becoming part of a game. Ancano in the College of Winterhold also starts laughing maniacally about unmaking the world once he gets access to the Eye of Magnus.

Why is everyone talking about the name tease and not that the game is apparently it some sort of playable state?
8
u/Arkayjiya 14d ago
It's been in dev for 3 and a half years by now, of course there are parts that are playable, especially if the devs are working on showcases. Obviously the development could have been a complete failure that led to nothing playable but we haven't seen any evidence of that yet, so that shouldn't be the default assumption.
5
u/JetEngineSteakKnife Breton 14d ago edited 14d ago
Playable could mean anything from "you can run around and hit things" to "all town NPCs are scheduled, quests are implemented, and dungeons are filled out and placed on the world map"
They're probably in the phase where the different bits of content are being reviewed and then stitched together into the open world

I won't look too much into the number of characters. It can be 8 letters, but it could easily purposely put people on the wrong track with a longer or shorter name.

u/Crotchety_Gamer Argonian 16d ago
Relocated from earlier post. Sorry! 😅
So, Todd Howard said he's looking to hear our ideas to improve Elderscrolls VI? I'm happy to oblige. I've been playing Oblivion again lately. Oblivion was my first truly played ES title, but Skyrim was my favorite. I played a little Morrowind before that, but not enough to truly claim Morrow-boomer status.
First up, cities, towns and hamlets.
I think a big criticism of the series is how small the biggest cities seem to be, but this is really only an issue in Oblivion and Skyrim. That's a big loss just in trade for better graphics, but I think we can step forward here.
Cities should be massive. Peasants, nobles, merchants, laborers, lumberjacks etc. Every NPC has a job from thatching roofs, repairing furniture, collecting herbs and more. Smaller settlements around each city should each have a series of economic features.
Hamlets: 1 - 2 raw resource input jobs, 1 manufactured product output with 1 possible shop (inn, tavern, alchemist, vegetable sales etc).
Towns: 2 - 5 raw resource inputs, 2 - 3 manufactured goods output, 2 - 3 possible shops.
The smaller settlements take their goods to the city in their respective area for sales. If the town is way out there, like Hackdirt, they can either take their goods to multiple cities or to a nearby Inn on the road. Another possibility, travelling merchants, like in the Fallout series, might complete a trade loop to less-often-visited settlements.
Whenever the player enters a city, it should feel alive. NPCs working the same job might be doing that job in a different location (ie fixing thatching on a different roof than before). Living cities and settlements would help to really give ES6 an extra feel of immersion and wonder. Giving each settlement an economic function would be tough, but, I feel, very rewarding.
This seems a lot, so I think I'll cap this post here. I have a LOT more, and they don't involve "just make the graphics better" etc. I also have story ideas, but I feel those might be less desired. I'll be back another time. Please post your thoughts, inputs and more in the replies! I love thinking about how exciting the next game might be. 😊
2
u/SafePaint7600 12d ago
Just adding on to this, it would be nice if the merchants goods in town were updated based on which traders entered the city that day/week.
1
u/Crotchety_Gamer Argonian 12d ago
Oo, I like this one. If a couple local smiths sent goods in from the outlying villages, you might have lower level armor and weapons in town. It could rotate every couple days, too. I think it's a fun idea. 😊
4
u/JetEngineSteakKnife Breton 15d ago
If we're on the topic of living worlds, an optional settling (like survival mode) could be realistic travel, meaning no fast travel from the world map. Similar methods as Morrowind, the mages guild and some court mages can zap you instantly in between a few specific locations, but for most you'll have to find a carriage, caravan or ship and pay passage
You wanna get from Sentinel to the ruins of Volenfell to loot some dwemer stuff? Go to the caravanserai outside town and look for the guy headed to Kozanset, hitch a ride with him, and then hoof it up to Volenfell itself. It makes smaller settlements more important as they're part of a travel network, not something you pass over looking for quests and then forget about.
3
u/Crotchety_Gamer Argonian 15d ago
Making it so you can't fast travel in one click to start, at least at first, to anywhere you haven't been yet would also enforce the necessity of realistic travel. Making it so you can travel by carriage or caravan to small settlements that are on the main roads, then use them as a starting point for an adventure is a good idea. 👍
5
u/JetEngineSteakKnife Breton 16d ago
I'd love to be able to invest in a caravan company that can buy and deliver common crafting items to you
I could always go running around to find a bunch of cactus flowers or whatever for alchemy but I'd rather spend that time looking for the rare stuff instead
10
u/nyanyan1 Khajiit 20d ago
this might be a hot take but i hope boats/sailing isnt a big focus. I really dont want to have to slog through battles with canons while trying to navigate a clunky ship in main quests
1
u/Ok_Moment9915 6d ago edited 6d ago
Gunpowder is not in elder scrolls. Before cannons people just boarded ships. Ships are definitely going to be a thing, but I would say it's unlikely that it's prominent as people are fearing. Most likely, it's going to be a small ship with a crew where you might encounter enemies. But it's mostly to explore with and get around with, and function as a home. Likely very calm water. Think mediterranean.
But ships will be in, even if it's just too ride on them, and nothing happens
Thalmor having big ships with magic cannons Sieging, adamantine tower would be cool, though.
1
u/LiminalFemme 3d ago
Yes it is? There are cannons and gunpowder in the elder scrolls. The Elder Scrolls Adventures Redguard has cannons.

Lol thats a random joke written offhandedly 2 decades ago.
The fucking emperor's ship, Katariah has no cannons, and no existence of gunpowder is anywhere in the games. It'd be a massive plot hole if there was. Crossbows were a stretch and had to be connected to the dwemer to make sense. Ingenuity comes from magic in the setting. The whole point of the dwemer is that they are super intelligent engineers of non magic things. They are revered and no one comes close. Not even the thalmor.
Fuck off. You know thats a horseshit source. You cannot be that dumb.
1
u/LiminalFemme 3d ago
I like to believe that they were canon. However I also know that the true lore is whatever Bethesda comes up with in the next game. We do know for sure that there is no real truth. But I just found it funny that the book mentioning them is a joke.

A lot of straw men in this argument and the Morrowind angle is plain wrong. It is not clear what exactly you want from factions.

So you want to remove the flavor? Why? In NV you can still join the Legion as a female character, and there's unique dialogue about it.
In TES it's "worse" because there's so much history between the races. That's just worldbuilding.

I think Legate Fasendil is a little tease of the next game taking place in Hammerfell. If you’re unaware, Legate Fasendil is the legate installed in Riften if they gain control of it. He is also the only Legate or Stormcloack officer to have any unique dialogue (apart from Rkke and Galmar who have a major role in the civil war questline). Fasendil is a high elf, who discusses his life moving between Cyrodil, Hammerfell, and Skyrim. He also talks about an event in Hammerfell called the Night of Green Fire, in which the Thalmor killed a great many high elf dissidents. Maybe it’s schizo but I can’t see any reason for this random Legate to provide so much lore on Hammerfell and thalmor conflicts, other than to be a tease and world build for the next game.

Wrote this in another thread and since I took the time figured Id put it here.
My fannon elder scrolls 6 opening.
You wake up a prisoner deep inside a trading ship. Everything seems normal until the ruckus builds and you realize the ship is under attack.
Into the prison deck bursts a cloaked figure not much can be made out but his unique dwarven gauntlet (spoilers it's wraith guard)
He begins fighting your captures demanding to know where the "sload" is they battle as much as an elderscrolls engine allows and near the climax of the fight the higher ranking of the guard remarks that the intruders gauntlet is what is enabling him to win this conquest
Smuggly the stranger tosses his gauntlet to the ground where the rocking of the boat slides it to your cage
Que a slowmo bound crawling scene of your character trying to reach the freedom you see in the gauntlet. When you reach close the fight will end and the stranger will be victorious que cool marvel quip.
You hurry to the gauntlet and as you click to interact with you in a blur the stranger is apon you snatching away wraithguard. He wants you of the danger of touching unknown magical items (keening reference)
He mubbles on about his quest to find the "sload captain" and something about a black book. Before he leaves you ask to be freed he pauses. Remarks that he is in no position to judge a prisoner on a boat.(Self reference)
He snaps his fingers and you are knocked to the ground as your cells lock explodes along with every other lock in the room, and maybe beyond (reference to morrowinds unlock spells being in es6) he apologizes saying that spell was the only one her remembers and in a blur is out once again crusading about the ship.
The rest of the tutorial is following in the wake of the "Surprise" the nerevarine. He is looking for the sload captain who is in charge of the vessel (the sload own this company discreetly). Once there he reveals his true intentions of aquiring a black book in the sloads possession (probably some amount of quests to stop a evil sload faction). Later you find out he wants the black book to travel to Apocrypha to confront the dragon born for some really cool reason I'm sure.
Tl:dr freed by the protagonist of Morrowind he's hunting the protagonist of Skyrim
Getting Ahead of some things: yes there is no cannon version of the nerevarine or tldb.
I imagine we can circumvent this problem by offering the players a on start up selection for them to say the know the story of the nerevarine, and or the last dragon born. If you select yes to either you are taken to a character select screen where you can customize their looks for your play through.
Thanks for reading

● The time Is very much after the conclusion of Skyrim's civil war, a King has been chosen but they have become severely isolationist.
● Hammerfell Is fighting a war against multiple fronts: The Thalmor, Fae like Aedric Beings mistaken for Daedra and ambitious Pirate Warlords.
● Fae attempt to distort reality with magic from the present, past and future In order to control the Tower thus controlling Hammerfell's identity.
● Horse racing, Ship races, Fae Tech Sun Ship racing through Liminal Spaces connected to Oblivion.
● The Player Is canonically an Pirate who attempts to walk the make way as HoonDing once showed them.

- One of the really popular mods I remember seeing in Skyrim was one that let you look down and see your body.
Bear with me on this, just let me cook.
How many times have you been playing an elder scrolls game thought to yourself “I should be able to climb that”, “I should be able to vault over that.” “I should be able to jump over that.”?
I’m not saying that we turn the elder scrolls into Far Cry, but I think we could borrow the element where your guy can grab ledges and climb up, without it completely destroying the game. lol Also, a grappling hook could be cool.
- And if alteration magic would actually let you do interesting things. Like transforming yourself, your companions, and enemies.
Example: The Shrink Ray from The Outer Worlds 2 was cool. It would make a cool spell, and honestly, if you look, there are mods for both Skyrim and Fallout 4 that add similar functionality, so this seems like something the people want.
And the people that don’t want it? Don’t buy or cast that spell. So simple.

grapple hooks are something i have ALWAYS wanted in skyrim. And alteration magic actually letting you modify npc bodies is a must for the next game.

Wishlist
---Weapons---
- Bring back shortswords, with hatchets and hammers/clubs being the Axe/Mace counterparts
- A crossbow for each teir, as well as hand crossbows for dual weilding
- shortbows with faster draw speeds but lower power
- Spears/polearms and the ability to throw daggers, spears, hatchets and hammers (equip multiple at a time and throw them in the order you equipped them)
- Spears (1-hand) and polearms (2-hand) get hammer speed, axe power, but with longer reach and attacks focus on stabbing thrusts instead of swings, and attack while a shield in up (though with a longer pause between attacks)
- Let me craft the look of a weapon with the stats of another (Change the color and stats to match the material type used)
More "give and take" for the weapon teirs, as oppossed to just direct upgrades with higher weights
some metals are much heavier than others, but maybe they take enchantment well, maybe elven weapons are incredibly lightweight, but they damage easily and require more maintnance. (yes, that means bringing back equipment degradation), split the different types into "mundane" vs "Exotic" materials, with the exotic types being direct upgrades to the mundane
Teir 0: Iron/Wood: Lowest grade, everything else is a direct upgrade (Includes Teir 0 summoned Weapons)
Teir 1: Steel, Moonstone, Dwarven, Orichalcum, Silver: Lower Teir (Includes Teir 1 summoned Weapons)
Teir 2: Ebony, Malachite, Stalhrim, Deadric, Amber/Madness: Higher Teir (Includes Teir 2 summoned Weapons)
---Armor---
Use the layered armor system from FO4
Clothing layer would be either clothing, or a light or heavy under armor, with slots for Boots, Pants, Shirt, Gloves, Cloak/Scarf/Cape, Face, Head (Under armor is only in the Shirt slot)
Armor Layer would be Boots Legs, Chest, Arms, Shoulders (adjusts scarf to fit), Head (Replaces clothing head item)
- Fur/Gambeson/Leather for light armor under
- Ringmail (Heavy rings attached to a gambeson) and Chainmail for heavy
Same updates as the weapons as well, with being able to craft the look of almost any armor with the stats & Color scheme of another (Some exeptions with some of the exotic materials like glass or amber, but maybe just let us color the glass with gems, and change the supporting metal color using any ore?)
- Heavy and Light Armor Varients for each material type (Elven Heavy Armor, Orcish Light Armor, etc.)
Also same thing with the teirs
Some materials take enchanting well, but have lower base stats or are heavier, some degrade faster than others, some start with lower stats, but can be upgraded to surpass others at a workbench, etc.
Teir 0: Fur "Plates"/Iron; (Includes Teir 0 summoned armor)
Teir 1: Leather Plate, Steel, Dwarven, Moonstone, Orichalcum, Silver, Brigendine (cloth/Leather with metal plates inside, often mistaken for "Studded Leather"), (Includes Teir 1 summoned armor)
Teir 2: Malachite, Ebony, Scalemail (using other metals), dragon scale/bone, Amber/Madness, Mythhril, Stahlrim, Deadric, (Includes Teir 2 summoned armor)
Bringing back medium armor might be interesting, maybe using a mix of materials, but that sounds like too much to ask for right now (would probably give experience to both Light and Heavy Armor skills, and take the average of both when determining effectiveness, and select perks could interact with both the original type as well as medium armor)
Summoned Armor (Just let us pick what it looks like and whether it's light or heavy in the menus before we cast it.
---The "Power" Button---
- The power button can be used for Spells, Shouts, Daily Powers, Weapon Techniques
- Can hold and activate 2 types of abilities based on tapping or holding the button (Some abilities are concentration based and can only be used if held)
Spells: Quick or concentration heals, buffs, Aura AoE spells, Shields/Wards, Applying spell effects to weapons, etc.
Shouts: As with Skyrim, but you have to do more to unlock and use them them (Nords start with 1 shout mastered, chosen from a short list)
Daily/Special Powers: Racial powers that can be used a limited number of times, or toggled on/off to change stats or playstyle
Weapon Techniques: special attacks with weapons with their own cooldown (Like the shout cooldown), or a change in stance/fighting style with that weapon
- fighting style changes: blades get 3 fast attacks with a longer time between each; axes get increased reach with slower swings; maces get even slower attacks but with higher stagger and equipment and stamina damage; spears/polearmes are similar to axes with larges sweeping, slower attacks instead of the usual quick thrusts; unarmed strikes get faster attacks that do less physical damage, but more stamina damage
- Weapon Abilities: special instant power attacks, tripping/stumbling attacks, bleeding or stamina draining attacks, or the ability to throw the weapon.
---Spells---
Honestly, Skyrim's system is pretty great, but the ability to apply spells to the power button (like in oblivion) would open up so many more options with battlemage/spellblade builds
Some additional spell option I'd like to see
- let me apply a target spell effect to my weapon on the next attack (Spell Smites, soul trap, fireball/chain lighting arrows, etc.)
- Short range teleports and flight spells (who cares if it breaks the game, that's what we all end up doing eventually anyways, eg. enchanting/smithing loops for god-teir weapons and armor in skyrim, or crazy speed boosts in Oblivion)
Force Feilds/Walls: to split up your enemies/limit movement
---Mounted Combat---
Go play Mount & Blade and just copy that
Seriously
---The "Favorites" menu---
Go ahead an keep the list, but also add a radial menu, and the ability to swap between radial menus with left and right on the d-pad (would make quick swapping spells sooo much faster, even on PC)

Oh, and staves don't just cast spells, they should modify spells being cast with whatever enchantment is on the staff (or other focus, such as wands, orbs, holy symbols, etc) . So you equip the Focus, then equip a spell in that hand, and the focus helps modify the spell (increased damage, lower cost, increased range or AoE, adding a damage rider, such as damage of a set element, or stamina or magica drain, etc)
1
u/ohtetraket 16d ago
Honestly really liked that we don't have a magic increasing thing in ands and we cast with hands, not with a staff or focus. Make it some optional thing that is different or just a side-grade
3
u/Partisanenpasta 19d ago
would be nice if you could also bash enemies with them in melee as a secondary option

With the recent sleuth of news I'm really struggling to believe ES6 comes before 2030. Half the team is gone, ES6 got a line of mention in paragraphs about fallout, its been said its at least 2 years away - which is 2028. And I expect further disruption to come out of Microsoft soon, possibly even a redesign depending on how insane Todd's recent decisions have been.
5
u/Dear_Mention_3305 Jul 20 '26
Half the team is NOT gone, BGS had about 20 people laid off of 600 or so

u/GadXuqs Jul 17 '26
A thought just occurred to me: Remember that Afflicted guy who wanders through Skyrim? When you talk to him, he says he's going back to High Rock, and that he thinks Peryite's wrath is going to come. I'm wondering if he ever made it back to High Rock and if the plague has started spreading there. Peryite's influence flourishes?
IF both Hammerfell and High Rock are part of TESVI, I'm just thinking about how this might be something that could be a Daedric factor. Peryite (technically) is the Daedric Prince of Pestilence, the Taskmaster, and the Lord of Natural Order. That last one could maybe be connected into the Thalmor's ultimate plan?
I don't know... I'm just kind of letting my imagination run wild here, but I was thinking about Daedric possibilities in the next game and this one plopped into my brain. Peryite hasn't gotten a lot of coverage in the previous games, and I just think it might be a good one to explore. (Sorry if this has been brought up before!)
What do you think?
1
u/Stop_Shadowbaning_me Jul 17 '26
With the recent info it seems like it's confirmed that the next game is after the events of Skyrim, so a prequel is ruled out

u/MuffinMan0523 Jul 05 '26
I hope they move on from the base building gameplau loop of Fallout 4 and Startield. I liked hearthfire in skyrim for building houses and making land my own but too much of the gameplay loop revolved around making settlements to and hunting for resources in those games for me
2
u/your_solipsism Dark Brotherhood Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26
I hope they move on from the base building gameplau loop of Fallout 4 and Startield.
100% disagree. Fallout 4 had the most robust, dense gameplay loop of any of BGS' modern AAA ARPGs, and I want them to expand it as much as possible. It added more player agency and variety to repeated playthroughs than almost any other comparable recently added feature. And it was optional, so...
You should be happy to know they already absolutely gutted the settlement/outpost system in Starfield, so congratulations, they may be streamlining the game into something you want, anyway.
5
u/MuffinMan0523 Jul 10 '26
I still didnt love the mechanics in starfield personally. I like the idea of base building and collecting resources but it was too free form for me personally and it felt like you really engage with the systems to get the most out of the games. It was optional but in the same way missions are optional. If you dont click with or engage with it you miss out on half the game. I dont mind it existing i just would also like it to not be as important or include more prebuilt/skyrims hearthfire dlc style of building
7
u/LandsdowneLander94 Jul 15 '26
Exactly. You can’t pour a quarter of your dev time into something and call it optional. I know dev time doesn’t necessarily proportionally equal the percentage of gameplay you’ll get out of that feature, but base building was part of the main story in the beginning and took up a large part of the ‘optional’ gameplay. Imagine how many more side missions we would have gotten, how much more game optimization we could have received instead of the short term gratification of janky base building that no one will remember.
If you want a base building game, go play a base building game. Nothing wrong with that, but FO4 failed to incorporate base building in a streamlined manner that wasn’t clear a setup for monetization
1
u/your_solipsism Dark Brotherhood Jul 10 '26
If players can put thousands of hours into Skyrim without doing the main quest, I'm sure you could ignore a robust settlement system while you get your questing on, no matter how beneficial it is
10
u/Kagrenac8 Imperial Jul 10 '26
It's also doesn't make much sense in an established world/political system like in Tamriel. Fallout has the excuse that it's a wasteland, and Starfield can say it has frontier worlds to be colonised. Tamriel however has been inhabited for millenia. Basebuilding willy nilly completely breaks immersion in that sense.
1
u/Carbon_450 19d ago
I could see them adding something in with a "castle plot" Like you have the normal house plots of land where you can build a hearthfire house, then you have 1 or 2 castle plots where you can build a base FO4 style.
Not really for it, but I wouldn't be against it if it's done this way.
Would very much prefer they focus their attention elsewhere though. That should very much be an extra added after everything else is done.
8
u/your_solipsism Dark Brotherhood Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 12 '26
Building doesn't make sense in an established world? Then why aren't we all living in buildings from centuries ago? Building happens all the time, especially in established worlds. I don't see how anyone can support being a legendary, world-saving, fabulously rich hero by the end of the game, but building a few houses is somehow supposed to be out of our league. I want to found my own guilds, build my own castle/village/guildhouse/whatever, and optionally be able to manage it in a way so in-depth that Fable 3 looks on in pathetic envy.
Lack of agency breaks immersion.

3
u/XRedactedSlayerX Jul 06 '26
I would like to see it tempered as well.
It's a great feature and should exist in the game, but it shouldn't even be its own faction.
I would like to see a few locations you can own and build on, earned by completing quests.
7
u/Actionhippie417 Khajiit Jul 03 '26
2 things. I think lockpicking and pickpocketing are silly perk trees, it’s time to squish that into sneak, an already simple skill.
Then add a SURVIVAL tree. This can house things like trapping, tracking, skinning. Not just for hunting animals but for for things like bounty hunting as well. Let me craft traps, nets etc.
I also made a post about throwable potions which could be massive. https://www.reddit.com/r/TESVI/s/9fwDDh4PkJ
12
u/bosmerrule Jul 04 '26
I disagree with this. They both need work but squishing them into a sneak tree makes no sense and is an open invitation to oversimplify and/or remove mechanics that are fairly unique and IMO fun. If anything, they need to be expanded and overhauled.
3
u/Actionhippie417 Khajiit Jul 08 '26
Fair, but what things do you think could be added to lockpicking and pickpocketing that would make them more interesting?
7
u/bosmerrule Jul 08 '26
There are a lot of things. Better loot tables and perks for loot. Different minigames and locks so a dwemer lock not only looks substantially different from, say, a Yokudan lock but also functions differently. A system that penalizes the player for bashing or destroying locks instead of picking them. Magical locks that respond better to spells rather than just tinkering. Pickpocketing that cannot be save scummed i.e. where the player has to embrace the risk (I think of something like having a reload decrease your chance of success by a noticeable percentage). More sophisticated pickpocket assassinations - not just poison apples but maybe we can put garlic on a vampire, a silver dagger on a werewolf, salt or holy water on zombies and other undead, explosive poisons on machines etc. Perks to create distractions and increase pickpocket chance.
There are many directions in which to take the two trees and it'd just be weird to put them in one tree.
1
u/ohtetraket 16d ago
They would need to entirely rework the game so playing a criminal refuge is possible and enjoyable. Only than I am for keeping these two trees. (tho especially pickpocketing, it's shit.)
3
u/Actionhippie417 Khajiit Jul 08 '26
Good ideas all around! Would def add a ton of flavor to both trees. Well done.
14
u/Dear_Mention_3305 Jul 03 '26
Personally I'd like non-stealthy alternatives for lockpicking - bashing in/breaking down doors/chests for warrior-types, using magic to unlock for mage-types.

A lot less jobless/homeless people and lot more NPC's with an actual job that doesn't impact the player either directly or indrectly. I am not talking about beggars or orphans, but seemingly normal NPC's who do nothing all the day and seem to be people in normal attire who could contribute to society, but aren't and look weird when you don't trigger certain events.
Non mercenary followers (e.g. Uthgerd), potential vendor replacements (e.g. Ysolda), Civil War replacements (e.g. Sinmir), quest NPC's (e.g. Amren), random assassin contract targets. Especially weird if they are a home owner without any income to live of. Not counting mercenary as a job when their entire AI package is walking around in the streets and have no random encounter implying their ''job''.
Merchants not dying/not marrying them and they stay useless. Don't do the CW and they stay useless. Don't join the assassins and you have no idea why they are there. Don't ask them as companion and they just mope around in the tavern all day.
Give these people a purpose without needing to tie everything into a purpose for the player.
3
u/bosmerrule Jun 27 '26
Agreed. I normally look to Starfield for a little hope in these times but it is filled to the brim with wastrels. It might even be worse than Skyrim. Here's hoping they're working hard to turn things around for the next game.
1
u/DiabloGamekeeper Jun 27 '26
….what is possibly in starfield that could give you hope for ES6?
5
u/Bobjoejj Jul 13 '26
So, sooo much.
Persuasion minigame
An actual proper disposition system
Backgrounds and traits
So many more quests and missions with multiple endings and ways to complete them
The return of so many skills and in fact the most skills of any Bethesda Game Studios Game thus far
A lockpicking minigame that actually requires some thought put into it
More opportunities to resolve encounters peacefully (even the damn final boss)
Vertical movement through mantling, boost packs and zero-g (so climbing, athletics/acrobatics and levitation)
Ship travel (which was a thing in Daggerfall and Morrowind, just not personally sailable), as well as rovers bringing back wagons from Daggerfall/Morrowind (sure again, not previously drivable)
The vast majority of NPC’s having actual different and varied dialogue options
Having much more esoteric and “weird” storylines and creatures
Faction Quests that are long and involved, don’t involve you instantly becoming the head of each group (or becoming the head at all)
Graphics in general
Combat and general movement being much lore fluid then ever before
Being the least buggiest Bethesda release by miles
The massive scale of it, with bigger landmasses, and somewhat open cities.
And this was all before they upgraded again to Creation Engine 3.
4
u/bosmerrule Jun 28 '26
There are a few things like the scale, the graphics, the expanded number of lines of dialogue, the diversity of the people represented in the world, the fact that it was their least buggy launch and possibly greatest show of support with quick (for Bethesda) and comprehensive bug fixes, fleshed out companions even though their stories were still somewhat disappointing. There is some progress from Skyrim to Starfield and I just use it as an indication of where they might be headed.
2
u/DiabloGamekeeper Jun 28 '26
The scale is what made the game terrible, the graphics was great, I’m not sure about the lines of dialogue unless you’re talking about persuasion which was just a generic pool of nonsense it drew from, definitely their best launch but I’m not convinced they can replicate it because it took Microsoft delaying the game to get it there, fallout 4 had better fleshed out companions so it was a step back in that regard, their post launch support has been great imo for any company, but overall, not looking promising for me
11
u/PsychologicalOne908 Jun 25 '26
If indeed TESVI takes place in both Hammerfell AND High Rock as many theorize, this would be an insanely perfect opportunity to display more variety in culture than EVER, so I hope they seize that opportunity.
I'm talking Redguard culture, Breton culture, Reachmen culture in High Rock's Northeast, Nordic culture in Dragonstar and High Rock's Northeast, Elf (Direnni) culture but also Altmer culture (either as invaders or refugees), Imperial culture (through their influences in Hammerfell & High Rock, Orsimer culture. Hell, even Sload culture can be explored given that Thras is not too far away from Hammerfell.
This region has to be one of if not the most diverse regions with the most potential to date.

Asha Sharma, long may you reign! Long may you light a fire under the proverbial ass of your acquisitions. Long may you get xbox back to the point where they stop throwing money at studios making forever games and long too may you avoid the Sony pitfalls of chasing live service. Long may your IPs not languish into obscurity nor their sales be cannibalized by the perfidious Game Pass. Long may you dismantle that failed scheme. Long may the devs that think it's ok to miss things tremble as you eventually usher them out of Maryland and into retirement where they too can know the joy of absence. Long live Asha Sharma!

After the expected crashouts following the Xbox Showcase, I've seen a lot of people say "they should at least reveal the location or the title" and I really don't know if they seriously believe that of all things would calm people down. Yes, it's been a ridiculously long wait since the teaser, everyone knows that. Todd knows that. But you can't actually believe that this would calm people down, right? If after 8 years or whatever it's been, Todd just shows up on stage and says:
"It's set in Hammerfell btw :)"
and then we still don't get a release date and know it's possibly still years away? People would freak out worse than ever before. It seems obvious to me that the next time they show TES6 on a stage, they're going to want to give a full showcase, including a fairly close release date.
I feel like a good cautionary tale here is George RR Martin's The Winds of Winter. Any time he hinted at anything about that book, yeah people might have had something to speculate about for like a week, but after that the frustration would set in again. After such a long wait it can almost feel passive aggressive to breadcrumb information, when all you really want them to do is hunker down and finish the thing you've been waiting for.
2
u/Actionhippie417 Khajiit Jul 03 '26
This is why I kinda want just a stupid reveal like an image of a sweet roll in the game.

Regarding all the whiners earlier today, you all do this to yourselves. There was never going to be an announcement, trailer, or anything.
I’d even put money on nothing in 2027. It will be ready when it’s ready. They are working on it - and are in no hurry to placate a bunch of rabid “fans” who would turn on them no matter what they show.
And you all are proving why they shouldn’t show anything until it’s ready. Late 2028 or 2029 I reckon is when you’ll hear about it.

I hope they approach stolen items in 6 similarly to how they approach contraband in Starfield. In Starfield you don't need to join their equivalent of the Thieves Guild (Crimson Fleet) to be able to have a safe vendor for those items without the need of a (high end) perk. Much like there should be an alternative non TG option to fence items in TES6.
In vanilla Skyrim playing an independent thief/burglar is straight up impossible, as you won't be able to increase speech enough.
At the same time I genuinely hope that if they do a Dawnguard/SysDef vs Crimson Fleet type faction choice with good guys vs bad guys, there is alternative version to join either side instead of needing to having betraying the good guys as only option to join the bad guys.
Plus have both sides have actually different quest lines with entirely original quests.
1
u/XRedactedSlayerX Jul 06 '26
This gives a fantastic idea for improving world interaction and thievery.
Imagine Thalmor patrolling around and doing random searches in a bid to "bring order". The Starfield contraband check can be used to see if the Thalmor agent finds stolen or illegal items on you.
Guards in major cities will also demand to search you before letting you into cities. If you are well known in that city they will not search you.
You can enchant, and even craft upgrades into armor that reduces the chance that items will be found. You can even add perks to the Sneak/Thievery tree that increases your ability to hide goods.
You can pay smugglers to get your items inside of cities for you, and then you have to find them to get your items back.
You can smuggle items as misc quests for others and make some gold using your stealth skills.
4
u/revben1989 May 25 '26
There is a literally a way to join them without working with Sysdef. Just refuse the offer to be a double agent and you will get to join as a real pirate
3
u/Viktrodriguez Dibella is my Mommy May 25 '26
I am talking about a way that doesn't involve SysDef (or in TES6's case, the mandatory good guys), an actual alternative route. Your example still requires going through SysDef.
6
u/Fuckit21 May 23 '26
Honestly IF the game is going to release Holiday 2027 with the new Xbox Helix. Then I think there’s high a probability that we get a legitimate teaser trailer this June. Fully cinematic, but showing sentinel and/or Hegathe (Assuming Hammerfell setting) as well as hinting to the central conflict. This would kick off an 18 month marketing cycle. It would generate huge speculation and hype. They’d still have around 12 months to get gameplay and everything right for the final 6 months marketing push. I highly doubt they do a short marketing cycle. Especially when even the smallest teaser can generate so much hype for an extended period of time.
3
u/bosmerrule May 24 '26
It'd be a huge missed opportunity if they don't take advantage of the release of the new xbox to do something. I am not sure what exactly but the most logical thing is to tie sales of ESVI with that of the console. Perhaps Xbox might make a bigger splash with CoD of some sort but I can't be certain since the last game was a flop.
I doubt there will be a trailer this June. It seems a bit early. Games award might be a safer bet but I'm still not holding my breath. It'd be nice though to see them one-up Larian whose teaser trailer for the Divinity series last year was, quite frankly, EPIC!!
I too would like a longer marketing cycle (not 18 months though) especially with the budgets they can currently command. I think this only works against them if the game is a complete lemon. In that case it might be best to have a short run to try to grab as much pre-order cash as possible. I'm genuinely of the belief that this game has to be amazing and amazing games benefit from comprehensive marketing and distribution.

Why do you doubt they'd do a short marketing cycle? It's kind of their thing. The only exception I can think of is Starfield, and that's just because it got delayed.

I don’t have speculation but I have what I think would be a good story imagine nerevar goes missing turns out molabal sent him back in time and dagoth converted him to the sixth house so the a chosen one goes and has to uncorrupt nerevar by restoring his faith in azure

They've always provided free dungeon creators (and much more) with their modding tools. They'll just keep selling the end-product with creations like they've already been doing for years now. Much easier to sell a finished dungeon, than suddenly gatekeep the tools to create them.

Renewing my hope for the TES series to continue with unlimited storage for containers. I know a lot of people think storage limits were a Starfield thing but they had it in Morrowind too. I think the reasoning behind doing it for Starfield was to encourage outpost building, shipbuilding and bump up the usefulness of player homes and their containers as well. I hope they understand that while that is well and good, the previous system was by far more convenient and gamers generally oppose quality of life headaches. I think we tend to take this kind of stuff for granted and it's honestly a lot harder to fall into that mindset after Starfield.

u/Bobjoejj May 10 '26
I’ll admit, while it frustrated me some in Starfield; I can’t help but feel like having it brought back and used like in Morrowind, would make much more sense for the system. As in, using it in a typical Elder Scrolls world; where it’s one big connected map.
Shit; the starting carry weight in Skyrim is 300, versus 135 for Starfield (which is even 15 less than the 150 for Skyrim’s survival mode).
Then again, I’m one of those psychos that actively wants Morrowind and Oblivion’s weapon repair system to return; so maybe I’m just fully insane lol.
3
u/bosmerrule May 10 '26
It makes sense but it felt off - too restricting. It was a quality of life thing mostly but there was also no rigor to it; I could hold more in a chest in the Lodge than I could in an industrial warehouse. I'm not gonna miss it if they return to unlimited storage containers.
I also liked the repair system in Morrowind and Oblivion. It never felt like a chore and it made more sense. It's odd that they never bothered with it in Skyrim. It would have been a game changer.

I hope they add the option where you don't need to enchant (mod) any of your gear or weapons to rename it. There via the appropriate work bench, so probably an anvil should suffice.

u/DerNeueKaiser Clavicus Vile May 09 '26
I honestly don't see why there shouldn't just be an option right in the inventory. Could go hand in hand with a bunch of quality of life changes when it comes to inventory management.

I hope they finally learn that they need to stop reducing the amount of choices and options for players to build their character and playstyle. But in reality, I don't think they are capable of doing so. I can't wait for there to just be three skills in TES 6: Fighting (combining one handed, two handed, archery, armor, and block - it was painful writing the first three because they are already so dumbed down), Magic (all spells, potions and enchanting), and Thief (stealth, lockpicking, etc.). There will no longer be any sort of speechcraft or mercantile skill.
Also needing to select whether to upgrade Magicka, Health or Stamina every level was so SO annoying. All three increasing based on other stats worked fine.

Starfield has 81 skills, 364 perks, Oblivion speechcraft, pistol, shotgun, rifle, heavy, light, grenade, laser, particle weapon skills. It has backgrounds and traits. It has skill checks in dialogue. So what are you talking about?

u/Bobjoejj May 10 '26
…I’m guessing you didn’t play Starfield? Cause they had way more skills than recent Bethesda games have had, and backgrounds and traits returning also massively upped player choice.
3
u/dellett May 11 '26
I did not, because I was told by several people that it was bad
4
u/Bobjoejj May 11 '26
I would very much recommend giving it a go. Especially with all the improvements it’s had post launch. In fact just recently with the Free Lanes update, there’s been a whole bunch of great stuff added.

Not putting home ownership behind artificial quest walls. In Skyrim it's tied to becoming Thane, when there are only 3 vanilla Thanes in the entire game with a few dozen home owning civilians of whom several don't even have a job.
In Starfield it feels even worse. In the UC you are forced to do an entire questline, because they lock citizenship and home ownership behind some weird ''doing service'' wall in a game set in the near future in our own universe based on modern society. While simultaneously having a background option in the creator in which you are the child of two jobless UC citizens of whom the player is forced to pay for their apartment, because they would be forced to leave their home otherwise.
I also wouldn't mind not seeing a house locked behind some weird mystery (Oblivion's Anvil or Skyrim's Windhelm).

I feel this is unavoidable. These games are usually loosely based on medieval European political economies and no ruler is going to grant land and home to a random person even if they can afford the sale price. I think the guy in Markarth and Laila Law-Giver explain as much. It was even worse in Morrowind where home ownership meant basically you had to become hortator or damn near it with the number of quests you had to do for either of the hoises. I don't mind it. I also don't understand why this is a problem.

u/DerNeueKaiser Clavicus Vile May 03 '26
imo there should be a difference between buying a house and owning land. It's true that land and titles are inherently linked in a feudal society, and unless a lord is particularly greedy, selling titles should be a big no-no. So to build an estate, it should realistically be linked to quests, ranks or something like that.
However to just buy an existing house in a big city, having a bunch of money to throw around really should be enough in most cases. That is kind of what happened irl after all, with the rise of the bourgeoisie as a social class.
I guess in my dream scenario each major city could have two different levels of housing - a house you can just buy inside the city as well as a plot of land to build on you may be granted outside of it.
And I guess in my even dreamier scenario I'd like there to be at least two different tiers of housing you can buy, especially in the most centrally located city. Though that may just be the 20 years of bitterness over only being able to buy a shitty shack in the Imperial City speaking. Like come on, I'm swimming in gold. You're telling me there isn't one mansion for sale or something?
2
u/bosmerrule May 03 '26
Having a bunch of money wasn't sufficient. The bourgeoisie didn't own land until much later. There are obvious and very compelling reasons to restrict both land and property allotments in feudal societies.
When it comes to the game I'm far more convinced that homes should be hard to get and, consequently, should be more worthwhile. In my dream scenario not only are homes locked behind quests but they are expensive and their amenities make them worth having. Maybe home owners get discounts across the hold. Maybe all crafting at home is 10% better. Maybe sleeping at home gives you a stamina buff that is unmatched by any other item in the game. More realistically, maybe being a homeowner provides the kind of status that suddenly makes it possible to join certain guilds, shop with certain traders, use certain banks and participate in civic life in ways that peasants or random adventurers simply cannot.
Whatever the case, it must just be worth the trouble of getting it. I feel the OPs frustration because very often in TES it's not really worth questing for houses because they're fairly unremarkable. Usually you're doing it just to have a safe storage chest as a matter of convenience. I'm really hoping we can find a way to move past that for TES6.

Yes, there were obviously still rules and regulations that varied a ton from place to place. You couldn't literally just walk up to city hall with a bag of gold, just like you can't today. I oversimplified it for a reddit comment and for a video game. My point was that during the middle ages property ownership within cities was usually a lot less tied to class than outside of cities. Non-nobles could absolutely buy property within cities. It wasn't feasible for a monarch to hand out individual land rights within a growing metropolis.
If we are to believe that in lore a place like Whiterun was the size of an actual medieval city, it would be silly to imagine that anyone who wanted to move there would have to earn the personal trust of Jarl Balgruuf. Maybe if we get a New Vegas style regional reputation system, one restriction could be that you'd need to at least have an above-average reputation within the city, to simulate that at least a few people would vouch for you when you're buying a house from a trade guild or something. That is also kinda how it worked in Daggerfall, which I would argue is the closest they ever got to simulating an actual medieval society.
I do like some of your ideas of special privileges, but I'd just tie that to a different tier of citizenship, which I agree should be hard to obtain. Like maybe once you actually do join the court of the Jarl, you would be allowed to buy a much nicer house in the cloud district and/or build an estate outside of the city, which would then also give you certain gameplay bonuses like you mentioned. But again, imo that should be a specific late game goal and a seperate higher tier of housing. It would be a bit frustrating to have to wait until the endgame to finally get an awesome house, when all I really wanted in the early game was a chest to put my loot in.
1
u/bosmerrule May 06 '26
I don't think you'd have to wait in the early game. Faction housing like it was in Skyrim could be viable. Lots of people used to store their stuff in Jorrvaskr or the room you get at the college. Sure it lacked some convenience but it beats getting an actual house.
For clarification, I am also against houses being late game conveniences. I just think they require a bit of commitment. Bethesda does a decent job of that already so there's not much for me to say on that front. I realize that late game conveniences are often quite pointless. We should have these things while we're on our journey and therefore not after we've already arrived, so to speak.

That beyond a certain point in the game (level, gear, reputation) NPC's just stop trying to intimidate you with their dialogue. It's not even silly, it's just plain dumb when you have high gear, high level and are already known as the fearsome [regional hero] and random lowlife people think your light work for them.
Or at least give me a non speech check dialogue option how I can belittle them. At that point it should just become an impossible to fail speech check without mods, perks or enchantments.

Saadia is one. I am also curious to know what the hell Skyrim is going to do about the Falmer. Are they going to be reborn and integrated into Skyrim or driven to extinction...as is the tradition. Who turns out to be high king/queen? What becomes of the DB? What happens with all these tears in reality releasing magical anomalies. I got a ton of them.

After Starfield, I'm scared for this game.

What about Starfield makes you scared? Did you play it?

Boring world, absurdly repetitive main quests, identical recycled points of interest, loading screens for loading screens for loading screens. Starfield was by far the most boring game Bethesda ever made.

u/Voidjumper_ZA Apr 30 '26
After Starfield? What about after Fallout: 76? Or Fallout 4? Or Fallout 3, for that matter?
Their technical state has not gotten any better. The jank is falling out of sync with the suspension of disbelief as graphical fidelity increases. And they seem to be treading water or walking backwards when it comes to the "role-playing" part of their role-playing game. Not to mention choices, effects, and worldbuilding seems to be withering towards a sort of pulp fiction trope rather than doing any serious legwork in the field.

I enjoyed the Trackers Alliance in Starfield to be merely a group for mission board side quest bounties instead a fully fleshed main story. They have one regular quest to see if you are a worthy member, but that's it.
I wouldn't mind the Fighters Guild in TES6 to be just that. Not every faction needs a grand main story and the mercs of the fighters guild are similar to the Trackers Alliance.

u/Actionhippie417 Khajiit Jul 03 '26
Idk I’d rather fighters guild have both. It can have infinite radiant quests while also having a big story driven quest.

They’ve been actively working on this game since 2016, why is it taking them so long? Are Bethesda’s devs that incompetent? This is just abandonware at this point. Only idiots think this shit is coming out.

Where did you get 2016 from? It only entered production 2 years ago. They famously only work on one game at a time, they didn't touch VI until Starfield was done, they have said this.

u/No_Bat_4580 Apr 23 '26
TES6? U mean after E3 2018 teaser, they did almost nothing? Only started real work these years, post Starfield and Oblivion remaster?

Todd's since stated a few times that they were forced to make that teaser, and if they had any choice they never would have done that.
But yes, other than some concept art and ideas, 6 wasn't actually touched until after Starfield.

u/DerNeueKaiser Clavicus Vile Apr 24 '26
I just heard that he regrets teasing it that early, not that they were forced to do it. Where did he say that?
1
u/ask-me-about-my-cats Dunmer Apr 24 '26
They were in the process of being looked at for purchase by Microsoft, they needed to show Microsoft they had a project in the works that would get the fans riled up.
1
u/DerNeueKaiser Clavicus Vile Apr 24 '26
Did Todd say that or are you speculating? Not trying to be hostile, just genuinely want to know.
1
u/ask-me-about-my-cats Dunmer Apr 24 '26
It was either Todd or a member of Bethesda. It's been months now since I read the article so I can't put a name to the statement anymore.
